[Music] yeah [Music] a welcome back to outdoors with the Morgans I hope everybody's doing well the weather here has been absolutely fantastic especially considering that it's still February we have been missing all the little snowstorms uh eastern PA got a bunch of snow we got snow down at the cabin but here at home it's been just about perfect which has allowed me to keep working on this road we've had a few occasional showers but uh nothing much at all I can't complain one bit what I'm doing here is I'm stripping this top soil off this cut slope I just took a couple more trees down to give me some more room so I could lay the slope back a little bit more and then here in a minute I'll bring the skid loader out and we'll clean up this top soil then probably go back to the excavator trim it up some more and finish it off with a skid loader and we will be able to continue on all right I got the skid loader here uh it works really nice for this it uh sticks to the slope very well so you can kind of get up on it work that top soil down to the low side and then I'm taking this dirt here and I'm filling in an old trail that goes off to the right it's kind of notched out from uh years of use so we'll put this top soil in there and when we're all done we'll grade it up and then by you know next fall when the leaves hit the ground uh by then you'll never even know that trail ever existed but the skid loader this thing's a beast it makes a short work of this as you can see I'm just running up on that slope piling up the dirt take a bucket or two over to the Old Trail and uh doesn't take long at all this whole process right here is is probably five or 6 minutes and then what I'll do I'll bring the excavator back and kind of shape that slope once again cutting the good Material off and we'll use it for fill on another part of this road all right bringing the excavator back out and by the way as of right now I've got about uh 12 hours on the new machine so far so good I really like it and I do like the upgrades on the- five compared to the dash4 what I'm doing here is just starting to uh shape the slope a little closer to finished grade this gives you a little better View and you can kind of tell I'm out of the top soil and I'm into kind of a clay Shale mix it makes good fill so uh this material here I will uh take down closer to the clearing I have a low spot down there and we'll use it for that the slope's not going to be perfect I I have trouble with this because I can't get far enough away from it so you're pulling real close to the machine but it'll be a good stable slope it won't go anywhere it won't you know slip off or anything like that but yeah I've got the 30in bucket on right here that's what I've been using mostly out here just to uh move dirt now we're get back on the skid loader here and we'll start pushing that good material in a pile to the far end and like I said we'll use this out the trail then I can even turn sideways here and kind of put the finishing touches on this slope I don't think I'll plant anything on it uh not a whole lot's going to grow on that but it'll be stable that's really all I care about that it's not you know slipping down onto the road should be good after we get done with this we'll be working on the main drag headed out to the uh clearing and uh I'm telling you another couple days we'll about have this done all right it's about 10:00 in the morning right now I was out here this morning we cut about a quart of firewood uh Levi hauled two firewood buckets down to the Woodyard I'm going to take the excavator down put it away for the day and get on the skid loader and we're going to do some more work out here on the personal Highway we're building so I am checking the weather right now it was really cold this morning it was about 15° but it is warming up fast and they're saying yeah they're saying we're supposed to get some rain actually the chance of rain kind of just keeps dropping uh we'll see what happens and then maybe a little bit of snow tomorrow night but we've had almost two weeks of excellent weather here especially for this time of year but before we head down to the Woodyard I got a great story for you a hunter story I just took him to Sheets like we do and I'm driving to Subaru I drive that all the time so we're you know we're short shoulder Tosh shoulder in that little car well I got my reading glasses on my hat like I always do well Hunter doesn't want them on my hat I have no idea why so as I'm driving right he's right beside me he reaches over real slow and he takes the reading glasses off my head very carefully and he's trying to put them on my face so they're kind of like this right and I don't want to drive with my reading glasses so I kind of just put them out on my nose like we do and uh that wasn't good enough so he reaches back over real slow and he goes like that so that kid I'm telling you now the other new thing he does is he would never get out of the car or take his seat belt off until you turn the car off or the truck off I don't know why you can pull in put it in park not until you shut it off now he won't get out until you close the gate no idea why it's like everything has to be in place but anyway we're just going to set this uh little bit of firewood out of the way here and we'll take this back to the Woodyard I am uh going to take a log back with me I got a decent little maple tree over there Maple log 8-footer maybe 15 in in diameter I'm guessing I don't know but we'll carry that back and then uh probably load up the Rex well there's already one bucket in there we see if we can't fit the other one in then we'll put the uh dirt bucket the tooth bucket on the skid loader and we'll come back out here and work on the road so by the way this is the end of the road right here basically well we'll put a gate right about where the shooting bench is out there so I got that little Maple right there and that oak tree to come out and that Oak that one there is pretty sketchy I'm going to need some help on that one it's uh leaning hard right towards the fence but we'll figure it out but we'll do all that in the spring probably move the trampoline chicken coup all that chicken Coop's really not in the way but it's going to get moved as well I'm going to build a new chicken run got all kind of plans but anyway this is that uh Maple right here it's pretty nice actually not bad take that back to the yard with us all right we're down here at The Sawmill we'll just set this Maple here other side of that Walnut and put the excavator away for the day well you never know I hear birds chirping but anyway yeah this bucket's almost full right here I think what we'll do we'll just uh fire up the wrecks split that load that's in the hopper dump the other one in then we'll head out to the woods but we're getting a start on the Woodshed each row uh it's 8 ft wide Tad over 6 feet tall so it's about a half a cord per row so we got uh well over a cord and a half in here so [Music] far [Applause] all it's [Music] oh oh all right we're going to head out in the woods now and move some more dirt all right uh we're out here on the road um not sure how well you can see this on camera you should be able to so right here in front of me I've got like a hump I need to cut this down but not only that it's higher on this side than it is on that side so with that being said I'm going to have to cut about a foot a foot and a half out of that side and maybe just like 6 in on this side and then down there about 100 yards is where I need this fill it's pretty far to be like pushing and moving with a skid loader but I'm not really moving that much and it's not going to take that long to do what I need to do now it is kind of little sloppy down there right now the frost is coming out of the ground but we'll be drying it up as we go all right we are moving dirt now if you uh look at the right side you'll see here in just a minute I take about foot maybe a foot and a half out of there and on the left side the low side probably only about 6 in and you can see the difference in the material going from you know there there was just a little bit of top soil on top but now I'm getting into some nice shell already and what I like to try to do is you have to start out flat meaning you know if your machine's sitting all wonky when you get started that's how you're going to be digging so you like to get a spot ready and uh and keep the machine flat or or you know a slight lean to the outside and you want to maintain that the entire time I could push dirt faster than what I'm doing here but I'm just kind of working it back and forth back and and forth and cutting the grade I want tracking it in and moving dirt all at the same time it's just the way I like to do it I don't know if there's a faster way or a better way but this is how I am comfortable doing it but you can see this is nice stuff right here I'm getting down to the uh place where I need it and what I'm going to do I need to go back behind me and take more out of there but I'm just trying to dry everything up as I go once I I get some material down here I'll go back up top and I'll push a whole bunch down right here you'll see I'll make a nice pile and just keep adding to it I don't know if you can notice the trees here are really starting to uh blow around I knew there was rain coming I didn't think it would be this fast though because I only worked for about another 10 minutes after this clip and it started raining pretty steady but yeah look how nice that material is right there that is nice stuff make feel out of really really nice and boy pushing downhill like that with the skid loader you can't beat it it's just uh that thing's a [Music] [Music] beast [Music] oh [Music] all right it's starting to rain pretty hard we're going to uh track this in and get out of here before we make it [Music] back [Music] oh oh
