I have a feeling this is gonna go pretty fast so I'm gonna do my best to get everything on video and show you the process but ultimately I gotta get this thing done superfast so all right you saw the room already these floors gotta go I just left Home Depot my car is just sore from how full it is it was gonna like show you all the stuff that I got but I just don't have the time and who cares you'll see it when it's done this carpet rip this carpet up gonna rip up this vinyl or whatever this is see what's under there clean it up and immediately get started on framing these walls this one's gonna be fast all right I'll check in when when the floor is up and the things are really [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right so day two I'm gonna do flooring and electric today the day one Jake Durkin came by and helped me cut up some wood so we can get these floors going it was it was ridiculous but we can floors walls are up and today goal is to get the floors down get some of the electric going and potentially get some of the lighting going in here because once the Sun Goes Down it gets pretty dark [Music] it's seven o'clock in the morning on I don't know I don't know what day it is this project has been awesome so good I wanted to kind of walk you through what I've done and and what's next okay here we go okay so as you can see I have ripped the floors out of the room and we have baseboard under here I have framed up the bass traps for all of the walls you can see here this little piece had to come in six inches because with that but the rest of the room comes out from the original wall 12 inches and yeah basically just moving the existing electricity to the base trapping frame and this will be full of rock wall safe and sound there will be four sheets of three-inch insulation all the way to the back on all of these walls and then I'm gonna put in the next couple days put some laminate hardwood flooring that I got it's in the kitchen right now oh and I we have lighting there wasn't lights in this ceiling previously so I put some can lighting in here we've got four little lights boy it makes a big difference this room is like way brighter these are cool lights do because you can set the temperature of the actual light so yeah electricity walls lighting I'm not sure the exact date when the insulation arrives but I'm going to be doing flooring once I finish up there's still a couple light switches here I got to pop in but once I finished that then the floors going in I'm gonna get the fabric order that's going to go over the base strapping and saying what this room sounds like and start bringing stuff in I'm pretty puff [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right so I just thought maybe I would do a walk around real quick I'm about to put the rockwool in the base trap walls that are going to be the walls for the studio and just kind of show you what it looks like cuz I don't know if I'm gonna be able to time-lapses this with the the insulation being everywhere so here's a little walkthrough rock wall rock wall insulation there's 12 sheets per bag 24 bags it seems like a lot but I'm actually wondering if it's about I've done this little corner took me two bags the scible corner and I have the rest of the room to do so I'm gonna have to get creative here that one was pretty easy to do I'm not sure what the timeline on this is going to be I've had to adjust some of the frames a little bit sorry I'm holding I'm holding it all right there we go so yeah we'll see how it goes and I will walk you through as I get done and take some videos and hopefully tonight if not to montón tomorrow I'm gonna put the fabric these two little spools over here up to cover up the walls and finish it and then it should look pretty legit and pretty ready to go so let's do it [Music] all right so it's day 426 and last night I spent the whole night putting all of the insulation in the walls I'm still very itchy not super fun the least fun part about it is doing all the cuts for all of the little small spots and stuff like that so anyway got that all finished up today is a very rewarding but maybe equally unfun time which is cutting up this fabric so that I can stick it on the wall as you can see over there it's starting to come together developing a little bit of a vision here let me see what it looks like if I do this oh so that looks a little bit better than that hopefully these colors look pretty cool I'm not really an interior designer or good at picking stuff like this so I just gray and dark brown and black are like my favorite colors so I don't know we'll see how it goes and yeah hopefully I can get all this fabric on here today I'm I'm sorry if this video is just all over the place filming this has been very tricky it's probably just sort of a bunch of jump cuts of the process and how it's going that's the rest of the house they're gonna have to buy a door to seal this room up I'll tell you what with all this insulation in here it's sounding pretty tight because when I walk out here it sounds a lot more live Wow so you hear my voice in here and then walking here and then it sounds just a little bit more tight and a little bit more hopefully pro so yeah we'll see how this goes yeah it'll might be able to shoot some videos in here after all that's not bad all right it's done [Music] okay so it's not done but I don't think it'll ever be done that's the thing I finished the fabric lights I put some trim cord around throughout the room I put up some shelves brought in some furniture and my instruments so far I have done a mix project in here I have begun doing some tracking I've done some live drum stuff some electric guitar stuff and wow this room rocks yeah so I'll just kind of show you around I guess so first things first everything's in one room which is something I've gone back and forth on but I'm really happy with it so far maybe I'll hate it in a couple months from now who knows front half of the room listening area mix spot yes look at that oh so yeah this is where the sweet spot as they say is I built this nice cloud this is a four foot by four foot cloud directly over the desk this is cool because this desk is enormous and having a big bare spot like that with big bare ceiling is not good so that sound just disappears bounces up goes away these are the two corner traps that I did as you saw just a minute ago they are on door hinges so I can actually open them up and use that space to store stuff which is great because there's no closets in this room which is unfortunate but I covered up all the walls anyway all right over here guitar land and a little bit of storage since this is all one sort of small intimate space storage is you got to get clever so I'm trying to do everything I can to lift things up off of the ground so I added shelves in the back more shelves over here so back door back door isn't totally finished and I'm gonna put sound panels over the glass and I'm actually gonna hang a curtain rod there so that for videos I'm not getting this bright daylight mixing with my soft warm light temperature okay so sortir extra snares and then there's a big space underneath there that I can put mic stands and stuff like that drinks accessories cups coffee milk creamer lunch drum land live drums I've cut drums in here probably four times since hooking everything up and they sound phenomenal I'm so happy with them as a drummer this is completing my life more snare accessories cables stuff that you need to have handy but not like right away all the time this area is gonna change temporarily there's just some stools and chairs over there I'm actually gonna put a couch here at some point so this is going to change but yeah guitars and lamps vibes this is what I've been using as my room mic things are 88 okay and over here this is piano land ish this is my wife skirts while it's a great piano but also has a bunch of really cool keyboard sounds built in but it's 88 key fully weighted so it's nice to have that as an option if somebody wants that piano feeling and then as you saw before we have the MIDI controller under here with all the fun gizmos and gadgets and buttons and and stuff like that all right interfaces I have connected my focus right 18 whatever it is to the Apollo x8p so I have 16 mic priests going into Pro Tools and my buddy Kyle just keeps leaving me with this wonderful Orem audio piece right here so I've been using that and that's absolutely wonderful addition to this desk and it should probably just stay there yeah so I'll be shooting videos in here doing the studio stuff mic stuff a lot of drum stuff probably gonna be a lot of drum stuff coming out of this channel because I am obsessed with drums and yeah so this project was a ton of fun and I'm super excited about it oh and I put this light it used to be a ceiling fan here took that out put these lights in cam lights like so beautiful I'm very happy with it yeah it's good alright if you're still here watching kudos to you 15 minutes this is a long video like I said I had a lot of fun making this somebody asked me if I had any idea of what I was gonna name this studio and I've honestly never thought I would because it's but I mean I live here this is my house and it's more of my name that is the brand in the studio but I think it might be a cool idea to name it so if you have any ideas let me know down in the comments and if you happen to come up with an amazing studio name then I will for sure use it and I will thank you and you know keep you credit and all of that so yeah this was a lot of fun thank you guys so much for watching and if you have any specific questions about parts that I used or how I learned to do anything a lot of this stuff that I learned I learned from the channel home Renault DIY this Canadian guy super helpful check out his channel also making records with Eric Valentine the concept for how I designed this room came from him in his video on tuning to your speakers in your control room check it out it's a three hour long just masterpiece on how to get your room sounding awesome and that's exactly how I build my room so yeah thank you guys again for watching and make sure to give the video a thumbs up and subscribe for more of this stuff and I will see you guys in the next video peace [Music]
