Where does she get the electricity from? Where does she get fresh water from? (She explained how her plumbing works, but where is the water coming from?) With those big ass windows and that small stove, that place will be freezing once she gets back from work and when she wakes up in the morning (unless she gets up in the middle of the night to add more wood in).

I was like β€œshe looks exactly like the person that would do this”.

She pulls out the hang drum.

I close the video.

hello my name is isabelle and this is the story of how i built a tiny house up in the mountains but first let's go back in time two years ago to a very confused and lonely time in my life i was sleeping on my parents floor at the time and waking up at 4 30 a.m every day and biking to work and working endlessly long hours in order to save up money but this was a really tough time in my life to be honest the goal wasn't necessarily to build a tiny house really it was to create a life that was economically sustainable for the lifestyle i wanted to live to have a low cost of living so that i'm not stuck and limited in my life but to get to this point i knew it was going to be a very long journey i'm not near the end but i finished the first step which was to build a place to live so that i can do all the things that bring meaning into my life to be free and happy and to just simply live so let's go back in time to eight months ago when i first moved to a tiny mountain village and started building [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] so but things weren't always easy during this build it was the hardest thing i've ever done in my life and there was so much struggle oh i don't think i can use this this is just so ah oh this is so hard [Music] i'm so cold [Laughter] i'm so cold oh my gosh so i think i've finally finished the plumbing which has been probably the hardest part of this entire build it's just been very complex trying to figure out how to do it off grid and how to get the water here and i've gone through so many different ideas down where the garden is there is a spigot that's connected to an underground well and so what i'm gonna do is run a hose down to that spigot and then run that inside the house to an inlet valve from the inlet valve it goes into a fresh water tank which is a 40 gallon tank that's right here so this is my freshwater tank and so from there i ran packs to the water pump then from the water pump it gets run to the water heater and from the water heater it goes to the shower and then also back to the sink and then it goes into a gray water tank from the sink and then from the gray water tank basically there's just a tube that goes out and there's a valve on it that you can open and close because my thought process is you'll want to have it closed and then when you're ready to empty it out then you connect a hose to where it exits the house and so that you can water specific plants and stuff instead of it just constantly draining under the house um it'll be nice to like be able to direct that water and like reuse it for another reason you know because it's perfectly fine water it'll just be like have little bits of food in it you know um so yeah basically that's the whole plumbing i cannot believe that it's done uh there was quite a bit of leaks in the beginning um but tighten those out and yeah it's basically plumbing's done crazy okay it's the moment of truth did i wire everything right oh my gosh oh my god look there's lights remember when you're riding in your car not thinking bout much didn't get too far 19 miles stealing gas [Music] not that boy hadn't tasted anything better yet got that love that could make a man got those eyes make a man [Music] so i'm trying to build some roll-out cabinets for underneath the bed but i realized i cut every single piece wrong um but i have to use my dad's table saw to cut this so i gotta load up those pieces into the car and bring them back to my parents house to finish building the cabinets uh luckily i have a couple days off of work so i can go there and finish that there's also some things i need to pick up at a cabinet building store so we'll just get all that stuff done [Music] we're just books up on a shelf try to understand this if you care and then she gives like a bubble bath [Music] there's only one question left to right do you love me all right say that you love me too save your phone every single day [Music] said you love me all the way say that you love me too save your gold every single day place a phone call for me and i'll let you listen to my favorite tapes playing my text right say that you love [Music] me [Music] [Applause] [Music] i just got back from the store for probably like the 500th time during this build the hardest part honestly about this whole entire build hasn't necessarily been actually building the house it's been trying to get all the materials here has been just such an impossible task oh my gosh so i'm an hour from the nearest town which is where i've gotten some of the materials but that town isn't very big so a lot of the stuff i've actually had to get from the city which is four hours drive away um and just like most of the time i'll buy something and then i put try to put it in and install it and it's the wrong thing that i bought and it's just been so frustrating because then i have to go back return it come back with the right thing and it just kind of wastes a whole day and yeah so it hasn't the building aspect hasn't been that hard it's just been getting materials and also balancing working while doing this whole build that was also really difficult because i worked like three to four days every week which i in retrospect like wish i had had all of the money to just not have to work and just only build the house but you know like that's life but anyways those are just some struggles that i've had it's really early this morning about 5 a.m but i'm making some coffee right now and i think today is the day i'm gonna try to finish the house there's really not much left to do and there's a snowstorm coming in so i gotta get it done and i gotta start living in it because you know wood requires heat or else it's going to warp and it's going to degrade really fast so i need to like move in and start heating it and yeah i'm heating the house with wood you know because it's off grid so i just need to move in like now um not everything is done but like it's very livable and very like to my standards it's done but like aesthetically maybe it could be a little bit prettier oh well spooky out here this morning my neighbor told me that they saw a cougar on the property not too long ago and now i can't stop thinking about that cougar and that's all right i fell on hard times here go hoping you will let it go too for what you've done nice i'm so dirty right now i need to go shower uh wow getting in that water feels so good but wow i am very very cold right now [Laughter] oh [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] you and me [Music] you [Music] [Music] hey [Music] i cannot tell you how overwhelmed i am with just i just can't believe i finished this house this has been the hardest thing i've ever done in my life and i kind of just have no words right now i'm just really overwhelmed with the fact that i'm done i mean i'm not completely done there's gonna be more things i'm gonna do in the spring but the winter just came so fast that there's certain aesthetic things that will be done in the spring like i'm going to paint the walls white and stain the ceiling and stuff but um it's livable and it's totally functional which is all i wanted to get to by the time the snow came and the snow's already here but i'm so proud of myself and so grateful i had so much support by my family during this like emotionally i can't tell you how many breakdowns i've had and my mom's been a very nice emotional support and my dad of course helped me i just can't believe this i i'm just so i'm so excited i just oh my god man i am proud of myself you're so excited oh my god i'm so excited oh and it's cold near i'm gonna go start a fire in my little stove and me baby
