Building A House DIY / Post and Beam PT 2

[Music] hey guys welcome back so this is what we're doing today we're going to be cutting these big old beams we got uh well these are posts we got some beams we're gonna start doing all of our Notch work here on the build the cabin behind me so what we got here is a two by four I'm going to lay this out as a story pole it'll basically be a template for all of our posts um we'll have our layout on this so I know where my Heights are for my intersections of my girders beams everything the notch at the bottom how we're going to connect into the posts on the subfloor so this will help prevent us from making too many mistakes and yeah we're going to start getting after it so follow along foreign all right [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign okay foreign [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] okay so what we just did here is we just went ahead and ripped this out I already pre-cut these right there and there skill saw two depth put it back on the sawmill and rip that off now we're going to flip it over and we're going to do the same on the other side which is going to leave us six by six up here six by nine down there still connected I wanted to run it all the way through I didn't want to have a slice and the main bearing beam or post excuse me and the whole structure all right yeah so we got don't worry we're gonna get it let's see can we get it back on that bunk we'll just have to shim it up so yeah we're gonna have to get an inch and a half that's all right good all right so we're gonna do a second set the blade here where we should be nine inches so we'll just run it down starts hitting and we'll see if we got a curve in it I mean it's kind of half-backed way of doing it can't work out so I think the gold spot S Plus now we're going to drop it down seven and a half there this cut ter point we're gonna be left with six by six all right two man left so I'm pulls back let's see what we're working so we have a stepped post so each of those large beams are going to be coming in boom there's a 14 inch here and here I got an inch and a half of bearing they're going to have two all thread bolts going through them gotta be beefy so we're good to go good job guys now the fun part the hernia part okay for the sake of viewership I'm not actually going to help them because we have nobody else up here to help film so these guys are going to get a hernia all on their own all right actually a bank robber's knot so it's it's the best way we could come up with with a remote release this thing's going to be 17 feet in the air um well 15 and a half we don't want to have to have an extension out of that far up to disconnect us so we just have a little block of wood stuffed in the hole here to prevent any sort of slip and this rope coming up this is a choker although it might not look like it that is a choker so the harder you pull this way the harder it binds it's a clove choker so this is remote release if you pull here this will all fall apart so this is our first time running it on this application so it's a little test this will be connected to the jib of the skid steer and this is just on here so it's out of the way it's not dangling on the ground and there's no temptation for someone to pull on it snagging something and pull this this poles this will release and fall off so we I'll help you guys rig this back up if you're not sure no big deal I'll put the jib over here we'll get it hooked up and we'll go so everybody understand yeah do not mess with the Rope touch the rope plan on releasing the Rope until the okay has been given and the the posts are braced we're not going to take it off until the poster breaks I'll just chill wait you guys get it plumbed braced all that bottom anchored if we forget we're stupid and for some reason we forget the bottom and we don't anchor the bottom and we have braces it'll just kick over anyway okay so we're gonna set it in the hole we're going to connect our bottom connection first then we're going to put our braces on and Plumb once that's done we'll release this and we'll repeat the process okay [Music] thank you one foot boom oh hang on hang on we got the joist here so foreign hey guys [Music] yeah
