so this is the complete advice and I am absolutely blown away at how awesome this is and I didn't spend any money and used what I had here in the shop something I didn't show you on camera is I mitered the front edges of this to match the back edges I mitered these out of necessity because I needed more handle room and it just looked awkward with the front not matching so I didn't show you what I might of them as well this bracing back here was originally going to be just a couple angled braces but I figured if this is wasted space anyway might as well have some spot to throw your tape measure or whatever else whatever other tools you are working on I've seen several these online with either 3/4 inch pipe clamps or even some bar clamps real heavy-duty bar clamps I'm using half-inch pipe clamps because that's what I had but it seems to be holding everything I put in here just fine even when pounding on it and speaking of pounding on it I have this adjustable so it will slide forward and backward and when it's slid forward its sized so that you can get a full three and a half inch piece in here such as a 2x4 or a four by four which is pretty much the widest stuff that would be making it mortise on such as like a table leg and with it clamped down all your weight is being transferred directly into the work bench because there's no overhanging and these pipe clamps seem to be holding it just fine so if you can pound on it it's not going anywhere you can probably chisel out a mortise just fine and when you have to do any type of end grain work you can slide the whole assembly this way and now the entire mechanism is overhanging so you can work on the end anyway I'm going to call this a successful project I've wanted advice for a long time but really didn't have a workbench to put it on and I'm honestly too cheap to buy a really nice woodworking workbench so this should serve all the purposes in my shop and it was like I said I didn't spend any money was all made from shop stuff that I already had so hopefully you can get some ideas for this I'm going to have some free plans available on my website for this if you're interested check out my Facebook page if you're into the social media thing thanks for watching and have a great day
