Budweiser brings back Clydesdales in 2024 Super Bowl ad

now to that GMA exclusive we've been telling you about Super Bowl commercials or course highly anticipated and this year is no different and as Will Reeves shows us there is a special reason to get excited about one ad this year the Clydesdales are indeed back Hey There Will hey there Robin that's right they are back and one is here that's Olaf ads are an essential part of the Super Bowl viewing experience and the Clydes have been an essential part of Budweiser's Super Bowl ads for decades they took a break last year now they're back for the big game big budget ads are a game day staple that often features stars brighter than the Hollywood Walk of Fame like Chris Pratt matching mustaches with Pringles I'm going to get out there and Soccer Star Leo Messi grabbing a beer Beachside I think you're just going to see a ton of celebrities I think it's just going to be a lot of humor the whole way through and with the highly anticipated halftime entertainment from Usher companies are saying yeah to the nearly $7 million price tag for a 302 spot the ad plus 3 to 5 million on the production the celebrities the Ad Agency you're paying so your total investment can get close to $20 million for one minute in the game some Super Bowl commercial moments have a permanent place in pop culture like these ladies who just wanted a decent burger where's the beef or mini Darth Vader whose force was strong enough to start a car [Music] and the ever popular Clydesdales starring in Super Bowl ads for Budweiser since 1975 what do you want to do hey now this year making a grand return in a GMA First Look let's do it the old school way in Bud's old school delivery this small town weathering a snowstorm but committed to getting its beer to a local bar with the help of Clydes dalees and a furry friend leading the way in the last 20 years they've become more of an emotional appeal often having some kind of close relationship with either a person or an animal in the ad and so the Clyde stales are just kind of one of those iconic parts of advertising that they're going to be beloved good job oh it's such a great throwback what an ad we're used to those we love those Clyde's Dale ads and joining us now is Clydesdale Handler Lane soner his helper Zayn which is great and one of his co-workers Olaf which is even better hello to all of you especially you you Superstar we're excited to chat with you in a second uh through Lane here so you have a long connection to Clyde's dalees and it's really something personal and emotional for you why do you care so much about this majestic animal uh you know we're around these guys so much we're working with them every day so to see them on the big screen is really a sense of Pride for us yeah well I'd be proud too such a beautiful beautiful creature why exactly are Clydesdales so special they're iconic for those of us who watch all the commercials but you're with them why are they so special so the Clyde sales are a staple for anheiser bush with their long-standing Heritage and they're an American icon so really when you think Super Bowl you think commercials and when you think commercials you think Clyde steals yeah and you're I see you holding that hay I assume that is food for Olaf how much of that and whatever else does Olaf go through in a given day so Olaf will eat a couple pounds of grain a day twice a day um he'll roughly eat about 40 lbs of hay a day and drink around 30 gallons of water wa 30 they they tell you to drink like eight cups for humans okay just for context um a few more stats how big is Olaf how big are the feet how fast can he run so Olaf here is a perfect representative for us um he stands 18 hands at the top of his shoulder or his Withers uh he has a beautiful bake coat he's got a black mane and tail four white legs or feathers what we call him he's got a beautiful Blaze down the center of his face and top speed when these guys are running along long fast fast okay that's not a number but it's just more of a of a Vibe okay um now is Olaf and his friends and siblings whoever else is in the commercials with him are you training them to act or are these horses doing what they would typically do anyway so it's what they would typically do anyways but any horse you see solo shots in the commercial are specialy trained for that specific commercial so they go out to our trainer in Wyoming a month prior and start training for what they're going to do uh if you see a full hitch in the commercial that's one of our three traveling teams that travel the country roughly 300 days out of the year so there's a lot of thought and time and effort put into all this and and we're the ones who reap the benefits and then finally how do you prepare them for a commercial or an appearance like this or wherever else they go so on the road when we have the full hitch on the road or something like this it takes roughly 5 hours of prep work before we get to the actual show so that takes all of us handlers 4 hours to polish the brass and clean the leather on the harness and then the other handlers are getting the eight horses that are going to the show ready so that's grooming them washing them washing all four white legs um so that's really what goes into it sounds like after getting Olaf ready you deserve a beer you work at the right place Lane Zayn Olaf thank you so much can't wait to see that ad in full at the big game he's going to enjoy his hay I'm going to throw it back to you guys inside cuz we're frozen out here Olaf Frozen got it got it will well
