Budget Wireless Mechanical Keyboard Round-Up 2020!

two years ago logitech released the g6 13 the first mass-market truly wireless gaming mechanical keyboard and since then China's been doing what China does best copying it a lot so we picked up most of the what seemed like pretty good value mechanical wireless keyboards off of Amazon and we're gonna be taking them all for a test drive this video is brought to you by the Corsair Vengeance 61 82 inspiration from Corsair for their packaging of the wireless mechanical keyboard although Corsair usually uses a spellchecker make sure you got to hundreds of hard disk space okay packaging is not exceptional but sufficient I'd expect it to arrive in one piece or two pieces as it weren't remember this is Wireless and it comes with its own 2.4 gigahertz dongle it can also operate in Wired mode but I was a little disappointed to find that it uses a micro B connector does have a braided cable though and it turns out it's got built-in RGB lighting effects everywhere else on the box it just says mechanical keyboard but if you look at package contents it says Wireless Mecca membrane gaming keyboard usually it's advertised as a mechanical feel I would describe the build quality as satisfactory for 60 bucks not a ton of deck flex though especially considering it's a full 104 key size the on/off switch is on the bottom that's a bit of a drag whoever the OEM for this keyboard is cuz maybe it's not g-chord provides the option with this chassis to have a wrist rest that clips on here but clearly that was not included in the box initial impressions of the switches not great I would describe the keycap stability as average at best I'm happy to see double Schottky caps at this price point though that means that a the light shines through which is good and be that legend whatever you might think of the style of it is never gonna wear off wait these aren't RGB they're just colored LEDs that are arranged from red to green to blue all right you guys got me but if you were to tell me hey look this is like a $40.00 mechanical keyboard and it's another 20 bucks 25 bucks for wireless even without RGB lighting it still doesn't look like a terrible value at least so far bring on our next contestant my favorite thing about the GK 89 right out of the box is that they just wear their inspiration from car brands right on their sleeve moto speed people like cars right well this is a keyboard that's like a car this looks like it comes from the same Factory this is exactly the same keyboard but with blue switches isn't it this is exactly the same keyboard I totally called it voice this OEM has the option to include a wrist rest you know one thing I didn't mention last time they should have yeah they've both got a bit of an undesirable twang enos to them I do prefer these switches though there are tim blue as well okay obviously the key capped ability is identical the wrist rest meets expectations actually no it's not great is it I wish it was a little taller at the price we paid I actually quite like this it's not trying to pretend that it's got a multicolored LED lighting scheme at 70 dollars it's a bit of a tougher sell but still not terrible the game Sam please tell me it's called game sir oh my god I love that brand name so this is using TTC mechanical switch this is the game sir GK 300 one millisecond wireless mechanical gaming keyboard this one's got a big old battery in it if the specs are anything to be believed that's about that's more than double the capacity of the first ones we looked at this is a nice feature it's got both 2.4 gigahertz and Bluetooth connectivity so the backlight turns off in a minute and it'll go to sleep in 120 seconds this is a tremendous gaming slogan gainsay gaming is winning we've clearly never seen me game and that is a pretty nice-looking fully custom wrist rest even if it's not especially well constructed kind of plunk the rubber feet on the bottom of the keyboard into these little grooves on it here that's actually kind of ingenious I like it doesn't hold on especially well but in actual use I don't see that being a problem initial feel impressions are not bad reasonable neck flex I'm a little bummed that the heights not adjustable but I think I know what happened here that has got to be where the battery is stored also this is an underrated feature somewhere to put the freaking dongle when you're not using it that is absolutely fantastic that is a supple cord little short that's supple so we're gonna go into 2.4 gigahertz mode it is backlit I love that they've moved the on switch for the keyboard to the front this is a big improvement and it's got some other creature comforts so it's a different color depending on the mode blue for Bluetooth green for 2.4 green it hurts and it blinks red if your battery's low I'm not a huge fan of not having dedicated indicators for an unlock in cats lock this is a fairly feature-rich keyboard considering the price point it's at 55 65 bucks the construction of this board doesn't have nearly the same resonance as those other two I have never tried TTC switches before so I think I like these better than the attended blues for sure even the idea this thing is pretty darn good for like some generic keyboard off of Amazon like it's got these nice rounded corners super slim bezels on the chassis so it doesn't take up an unnecessary amount of space on your desk so right-and-left give us access to different effects I think these gaming ones are apparently for pub G apex legends and fortnight battle age well when those games definitely stay super popular forever this takes a lot of boxes for me at this price point at the same price the velocity I will Asif fire yep the Philosopher's VMO 2ws is gonna have to impress me a lot after my experience with the game sir a non braided cable but that does include hook and loop fastening we're back to a more classic look with wider bezels and kind of a chunkier feel to it but I don't necessarily think that that's a bad thing we've got all the indicator LEDs that I could ask for that USB type-c connector that I'm really pleased to see pretty basic bottom I wish that these rubber bits were integrated a little bit better you can see those would be really easy to lose but at least they're there I guess and oh no we're back to the bottom mounted on off switch overall it's got kind of a basic corporate II look and even feels kind of like a like an office keyboard this seems oh yeah we well over a kilogram typists and programmers they seem to be a brown clone of some sort as expected it is brown in color so that seems to be what they're going for many of you will probably know this but Cherry's patent on the original MX switch design expired a few years back so you can find pretty much everyone in their dog making clothes of their switches now with everyone adding their own little bit of flavor I'm not a huge fan of what they've done here but as overall a lover of the Cherry MX brown switch this is pretty comfortable for me and even though this doesn't have a metal front plate or anything like that the construction overall is quite solid and the plastics that they are using feel like good solid plastics no twang whatsoever either just like the other ones it's got backlighting unlike the other ones there's not a lot of control there's brightness up or brightness all the way down something to notice that while some Amazon reviews do mention alternate lighting effects we could not find any way to activate that or any mention of in the manual so maybe it's possible some people are actually receiving an entirely different keyboard but at least the one that we got I actually quite liked it for 60 bucks like this is the most solid feeling keyboard out of the bunch and if I didn't need any gamer e features or game rias thetic actually quite like this and USBC makes that is a big deal to me so far these have been shockingly good are you saving the crap for last this thing looks terrible really not a lot of information on the outside of the box here included key cap puller and one of my dials fell off to just go ahead and put that back on there both of these dials spin completely freely I have no idea at this time what they do why does this have a cord permanently attached to it and an on/off switch wait is this even a wireless keyboard wait what the hell you've gotta be kidding me it's just not even Wireless what oh so some people get a wireless one yeah because otherwise why would it have an on/off switch at the bottom oh wait it's just for the it's just for the lighting it is true RGB though blue clothes for diction GCN switches our little cheap feeling not a very nice actuation bump these key caps are terrible the ridge especially on the space bar given that it doesn't have a way to prop it up out of the box okay I mean the lighting effects are definitely better than any of the ones we've seen so far but there is power draw associated with the processor that's required to change around lighting effects and stuff like that I can understand why they would leave it out of a wireless one okay what's this one do okay clicking it is pause pressing it and spinning it is volume up and down that's actually not very comfortable to use yeah cuz you end up like getting your thumb jammed in between the pause key and the volume wheel nope I'm not impressed I know I'm done forget it you're done okay and an illustrative various parts is that right royal Cluj these three are all from the same brand but they are slightly different models so we've got the RK 61 RK 71 and the sync 87 G I'm gonna start with the 61 which presumably is a 60% keyboard that's weird I don't see the wireless dongle in here it's possibly misplaced it oh oh all right well that automatically disqualifies it for gaming use overall the build feels not great not bad part of why it's as stiff as it is it's just because it's such a small layout you've got a USB micro-b again it's got a variety of lighting animations as well as controls for both brightness and speed of the animations I'm not a huge fan of these shrunken down layouts at the best of times but there are certain sins that they can commit that bothered me more than others this one retains the windows key which I personally really like to have there's so many windows shortcuts that require it this I find confusing so I'm at arrows by default and function this shift gives me a question mark let's try the 71 one of the key caps fell off in the box that's always a good sign oh yeah I didn't check out the switches here it looks like they're using their own switches this is an RK blue I would describe there our case which as feeling fine actually there's nothing that really bothered me or stood out as being really different from an MX blue these are from the same brand but these are very different looking designs so first of all this is kind of cool these appear to be little magnetic feet I don't know how well these are gonna stay on here but hey they're there also there's a place to hold your wireless dongle but I don't actually see it so is this a bluetooth only model no thanks James it's got some cool lighting effects on the bottom alright pairing mode here we go I was painless going from 61 to 71 keys we get dedicated arrow keys also I found the legend to be a little bit more intuitive here that is clearly brightness up and down that is clearly speed up and down backlight it's not very bright on this one oh this is some more Mac optimized one interesting oh yeah look at that it's got option and command and all that stuff on here as well as windows and then this is really cool so there's five different profiles here and you can quickly with a function press switch between different devices so you could have this keyboard paired with your PC your Mac your phone your iPad and then just trippity swapping a switch between them so this is like the multi tasker keyboard and it's USB type-c which I really like to see I could get into this this is just bigger enough but you've got proper dedicated arrow keys and I would find this a lot less confusing to use finally the sync 87 G another USB type-c model pretty hefty feeling you know this is kind of a classic feeling one kind of like the velociter these have got to be brown clones there at any Browns the twangy sound is not nearly as bad as the first ones but definitely not as good as the velocity a stupid switch in the back like that again and another oh wow okay well at least the rubber thing is a little harder to get off on this one interesting this one's not bluetooth at all so we've got an included dongle again plug that in and maybe it'll come to life now yep no pairing process required and you know I like the Oh Timmy Browns a little bit better on this one than I did on the other one and it's caught true RGB backlighting look at that that's not bad I could forgive some of the build quality compared to the velocity ur it's got a caps lock indicator and it's a 10 keyless layout so there's obviously no number lock lots of lighting effects on this one though so that's pretty cool how much is this guy really that is not bad I'd say it's pretty well balanced the attending Browns are fine even if they're not my favorite RGB lighting it's like reasonably well built and it's got USB type-c as well which I didn't even mention just now that's a pretty big one for me I like it now I got to pick favorites Oh any one of these three I think you could buy for between 55 and 65 dollars and be pretty darn happy with it they've got some trade-offs so the velocity I hear I think is really my my office keyboard weapon of choice USB type-c not a ton of Lading stuff not a ton of frills but the build quality of this one really stood out from the rest of the pack the Cluj 87 ends up being actually kind of like a 10 keyless version of that it's got great RGB lighting it's still USB type-c and felt pretty darn good to use it and then if I had to give anything the number one award I actually ended up really liking the game sack it's got a massive battery it's got good lighting on it I actually really liked the key switches compared to some of the other off-brand key switches that we checked out today right and I can't forget the dongle holder how did nobody else include a dongle holder how much more does it cost to have a little place to stick a USB I have a special award for the Cluj 71 if I happen to sit at a command station where I had a lot of different devices to use this is absolutely the one I'd get and I think they did a pretty good job of balancing making it small and compact enough to carry I was so glad they reviewed my keyboard but then they ended up reviewing an older and cheaper version of it ;-;
