person who message us is very interested in sound recording field recording recording ambience it's just like similar things that we're doing but he's also very overwhelmed by all the options that are available especially when we're talking about gear and i can totally relate to this but he made it easier for me because his budget is one thousand dollars so i can already work with this number but the question is can i really create a kit like a complete set that allows you to record sounds without having any loose ends for under thousand dollar well let's find out in this video i think we should start with the recording device and i personally i used a lot of recording devices starting from the zoom h1n all the way up to tascam and sound devices but the one that i recommend you now is nothing from the ones that i had in the past it's the one that i just bought here in malaysia and this is the zoom f3 and i want to give you some reasons why i recommend this recording device reason number one especially as a beginner you look at the price and now when we see for 350 dollar you can get a recording device brand new 32-bit and looking at the reviews right now on b h on amazon means that i'm not the only one who would recommend this recorder and i'm also not the only one who likes this recorder especially for me who's using this recorder already and i'm really happy with it reason number two why i recommend this recording device is there is a community behind that means that if you buy this recorder then you're not lost if you have any kind of questions and you don't want to look at the user manual or maybe there's some tips and tricks about it then just go on youtube and you will find all the answers that you have about the zoom f3 and the third reason is that it's very easy to use so you don't have to worry about a single thing when you're out there and you record your sounds when you use something like the zoom f3 but now let's talk about the microphone when we're talking about microphones and what am i going to record with it then i always think back to the time that when i was a beginner when i started out and i feel like i'm still a beginner so i would never call myself an expert or an advanced field recorders because there's always something that i can learn i can learn from you i can learn from other field recorders there might be some microphones i haven't even heard about it but when i started out and i had the zoom h1 then later i had the zoom h6 all i wanted to record was almost everything when you do this then you also experience limitation every recording device or microphone has its limitation and then i discovered a microphone that was almost perfect it's a microphone that can record almost everything exterior but also interior you can record sound effects with it and everything that is ambience related but that's a microphone i actually can't recommend because it is too expensive and the one that i'm talking about is that audio technica 4025 i personally have that microphone we already made a video about it and you can check it out right here but the reason why i talk about this microphone is it has a little brother and that's the audio technica 80 22. now the audio technica 80 22 is right now on b h on amazon 399 with the zoom f3 right now we are at 748 so we have some money left to buy other things to get you started and one of the reason why i recommend this microwave is not just because the quality is great it's an all-rounder but we don't have to purchase extra cables no the xlr cable is already within the package but there's another cable a trs 3.5 gs cable in the box and you can use a battery to power this microphone that means you don't necessarily need the zoom f3 if you already have a recording device or if you just want to use it with your camera you can use this microphone as well the next item that we need is something you may haven't thought about this especially when you buy microphones and that's wind protection i would love to recommend you a really nice blimp but it would just be completely over budget so i can't do this but i still want to recommend you something that you can use that will protect your recordings from wind and we have still a high quality product and that is a product that we already used in our video about the audio technica 40 25 so it is exactly the same product because the housing of the audio technica 40 25 and 80 22 is the same so you can use the same wind protection that's the rycote bbg and also the reiko the wind jammer that comes with this bbg but you have to purchase it extra so the price for the basket windshield is hundred and twenty dollar and the winch ammo is 65 and now if you're calculating putting this in our calculator then we are right now at 933 but we're still not done here because we need headphones and also something else now when we're talking about headphones then we're talking about a very personal item and this is really something you need to try on before you decide purchasing it because when i started out with recording i only use the iphone headphones and that that was great if you feel like i use my iphone headphones because i'm a beginner i just want to start out you want to save money so that's that's good so you will be under the budget but if you say no no i want good headphones i want a good headphones that i will use outside but also when you come home and you have to edit your field recording that's when headphones shine that's when you really need them because you spent more time editing than actually recording that's what i can tell you from my own experience and the headphones that i found that are under the budget and here we can actually see a price difference between b and h and amazon and this is the audio technica adhm20 i personally did not use these headphones i used the m30 and i really liked them but the price on amazon is right now 44.99 so it's 45 and on b h it's 49. so we can save 5 and it's important to save money right now because we're very close to a thousand dollar but looking at the ratings we have 18 000 very positive ratings on amazon and we have positive ratings on b h so i believe that you're not making anything wrong with these headphones that are still in our budget but i'm pretty sure if you go on youtube and you've typed in best headphones for under 50 i'm sure you can find something similar but right now to keep it in the budget this would be the headphones that i would recommend you now before we talking about the last item let's do the calculation really quick and the headphones i'm using the amazon price so we are 933 plus 45 dollar so right now we're at 978 that means we have 22 dollar left to buy one of the most important items that we need to make this work and this is a mic stand now if you want me to recommend you a light stand or mic stand that you can use and that i personally have experience with then this would be the manfrotto carbon nanopole or the aluminum version we made a video about this and we use this for years never disappointed i love using it every time i'm out there but for this video to keep it under a thousand dollar then this is something that you don't want because you don't want to spend that money on it but i found something on amazon it's a seven foot photography tripod stand or even light stand you can use it whatever you want you have the right screws on top for this we can put our audio technica on top with the holder and this one is 19.99 so it's a 20 dollar and when we're looking at our budget right now together with this we had 997 and the reviews aren't bad we have five stars the fifth star is half 864 rating so if you want to start out recording i think this is something that we can work with and since we have a zoom f3 which is very light and if you have a belt like a mini belt or you have a strap and you want to make this really mobile and really compact then you can also attach this zoom f3 right next onto the light stand and you can start recording this way you have your headphones here boop and then you can sit somewhere in the corner and listen while recording now before we end this video i know there's probably one person out there with really hard fingers trying to tell me that marcel you're missing one very important item and you are right because i did not calculate a micro sd card within and i remember the time when i bought zoom products there was always an sd card with it so i really hope that you
