hi i'm tracy my husband nick and i come to france every year to enjoy french life we search the markets for antiques and treasure for our business in new zealand recently we have bought a house in the south west of france that we are renovating [Music] follow us on our journey as we take you through our weekly adventures the day of beautiful sunshine we're out again on the hunt the sun's light is just hitting the tips of the building now first market this gorgeous morning is a little town about 20 minutes away called tuno darjenae and it's on top of that little hill there and it said a mix history of control the celts were there at one point and the romans and protestants and catholics and english and french all fought over it and had control at some point i think even the nazis were there but yes it survived and it's a gorgeous little place this market is a fukant slash vid grenier and which means it's got a mixture of professionals and the recon tours selling off their wares and locals who have just set up a stall sometimes just outside their house selling off unwanted things a bit like having a big community garage sale you never know what you'll find but often these little pretty little towns have lovely things so i'm feeling lucky today [Music] do [Music] we've arrived early so it's not too busy at the moment last year we met a brock onto in town in the main part she is from new zealand and owns a little antique shop here she's too busy at the moment to talk to we even got to look through a house for sale last year without one of our tours they expressed some interest so we went and checked it out but as beautiful as it was it was far too much work for any of us this by the day oh yeah come here [Music] [Music] oh oh look yes essentially [Music] the front of houses are just filled with these gorgeous flower pots i don't think all of the houses have back gardens so they take advantage of the front and show off their gorgeous array of [Music] flowers but our next market is a half an hour away in the town of town it's about it's about 1200 people that live there and every month they have a become to market just passing around the edge of another pretty little town we'll go there one day called flock on the rails [Music] turkish [Music] for sale here we are lovely lovely just like only bridge this is a professional market uh professional book hunters which means that prices are a little bit steeper um but much more interesting pieces so viral is a busty town and it was established in the 1260s there's a beautiful open-sided 14th century covered market it's in the center where the procontos set up their stalls this area is a popular holiday destination for the english and you can hear a few english voices when you wander around the market like being in england it was popular too in the 13th and 14th centuries when the english moved in for nearly 200 years so on saturday there's a produce market which has been going for 700 years isn't that amazing there's a new cafe in town called rosie's which we've just found or nyx found uh it's run by an english woman with the best coffee we've had since arriving in france and it's gorgeous day to sit outside and enjoy well it's quite expensive here but it's just absolutely gorgeous to watch and look at beautiful things i can't afford stunning village and a great thank you very much this is great for our little village [Music] oh
