This documentary was originally broadcast in 2004. Also Tony Robinson is a very good comedic actor..... but he's not expert on history. He's an expert on saying "I've got a cunning plan....". And. Almost like it was some kind of catch phrase.
It's really silly when people dive in seriously on something like this. The entire concept of the monarchy is farce. A familial control over an entire nations assets that was enforced by sheer brutality.
Then that violence was slowly replaced with popular governance, and still people act like descendants of the old brutal rulers matter at all. Just end it, or at least admit it's silly and move on.
