Bringing In The New PIGLETS!

what's up guys thank you so much for tuning in today's video if you're somewhat into farming or you just want to watch a kid get some stuff done around the farm you're in the right place all I ask for [Music] [Music] so as you can see that bunch of pigs got about one two three four five six seven feeders full of pigs which is a lot which I'm happy with but this fill should go really really good and really fast because there we need about seven hundred a day and that will allow us to fill this up pretty quick and that's just less time that we have to drag it out because usually sometimes it takes a while just because the only weaned like 500 a day and if they only we need like 500 a day a 200 Pig difference means probably you know that's probably another three or four days of just filling so I like I like to get as many pigs as we can each day just to speed up the process 11 today we're gonna get some more when your pigs we're gonna put so we start it off we put barrows at the end and then we put gilts so about half of the half of these pens or barrows and then half of these or gilts but we definitely got more bit we definitely got more gilts yes sir it didn't we did barrows so today I'm thinking where you get more barrows and less guilt just because yesterday it was the opposite so how we're going to fulfill this barn up is we're gonna put half this side all gilts half this this half of this side is going to be guilt and that down at the end that half is gonna be barrows and we're going to do the same on this side so if we get barrows off the truck first instead of just running them in here and these pens I'm gonna run them all the way down to the end and have just the barrows all down at that end the guilts all down at this that way it's really easy so and I'll put all the guilts here and then I'll put all the barrows down there the guilts next to the barrows so as you can see we got feet on the mats already for when the pigs come that way we're just prepared and ready to go and that way we don't have to mat thief after we get them with just feet on the mat and put pen up and then they'll be happy and they'll have food in their face and most part these guys are pretty healthy but there's definitely some pigs in here that just like that pig right there you can obviously tell that he's kind of one of the runts out of the litter and you know that just happens for the most for majority 95% 90% of them are all healthy look good but some of them are just when they get right off the truck and they're just born you know they're just born out of disadvantage and they just aren't like the rest of them so with that we're obviously gonna pull that pick you soon and put them in a pen for some special care and stuff like that but for now we're just gonna try to get all these pigs in first then we'll go and we'll go pull them all 19 to 95% of the pigs come off the truck we're looking really good and then not 10 to 5 percent you know there's always those just those pigs that just don't look as good because they're just their genetics or whatever it is they didn't get the tip they're Mama's tit as much as the others did whatever it is that's just that's just kind of the way of life with these pigs so now it's just kind of a waiting game when the truck gets here and we're gonna load these babies off and put them away I know I've said this before but we're gonna do two weeks of filling so we're gonna we're gonna fill every day besides the weekends and Christmas so it should take us 2 to 2 weeks and if not two weeks probably 2 days in the next week so it could take us we might have to go into the third week to fill it but I'm not thinking I don't think we will I think it'll take us two weeks exactly to get it all the way full but we'll just see how it goes the trucks here we're gonna count them out and sort them 60 do a pen [Music] all right so we got the Barrows on this side we got the guilts on this side just like I said barrels or barrels are all down there my dad's currently counting them out so make sure this of course my dad still count them out make sure they're good so I'm gonna work on counting these out so pretty much what I do is with our rear swing gates that we have that are super handy we shut all the gates so that they can open the way we want them and then you know usually all the pigs will run down cuz that first are really timid and scared of you so they're gonna run off together but what I do is I like to shush them away and they'll all kind of run that way and we're gonna count out 60 will leave 60 here and then what we'll do is we'll grab this gate pull the pin pull the pin drag it along drag it along come to this I don't know what you really call it and then you latch it and then that's 60 now I do the same thing I'll count out 60 swing that gate latch it count out 60 so we met gate latch it just do that over and over until you're full so if you have any extra and the sides are all the way full then we're going to take the gilts that we have extra and we're going to put them on that side so that's what's gonna go down right now I'm going to count guilt my dad's counting the Barrows right now [Music] [Music] for the people that are asking why I use this am i hitting the pigs what does it use for what's its purpose this is mainly for sound there's beads in this bat then the bottom of this bats duct tape there's beads in it mainly for sound that gets them going way easier I tap this on my panel and I tap this on the wall and it gets them going through better because as you saw they kind of get stuck up and they kind of get all pinned up and don't know where to you know they just don't know where they're at yet so they don't really know how to get around corners very well and they get bunched up in the doorway so you kind of have to use some sound you kind of have to wave your hands and kind of you have to yell to get them to really go and sometimes yes I'll give a pig a tap on the butt to get them going but it's not like I'm swinging this bad as hard as I possibly can to hit the pig and it's a plastic bat and hit yourself with it it doesn't it doesn't hurt and it's it's not like I'm hitting the pigs hard as I possibly and I'm barely even tapping them with it it's just to get them going easier and all that so anyone that is concerned out there because I'm sure there's somebody watching going oh my gosh what are you why are you using that well it's for sound purposes but sometimes a little pig bits not really going at all kind of have to give them a little tap on the butt to get them going but that's about it this is another example and I've talked about this before but why these of your swing gates are so good because they just really help us when we're sorting they really help us when we're sort worried and we're dealing with Weiner pigs they help us when we're loading pigs all really three important things that just make our lives a lot easier and what's your thoughts on the pig so far I like them I like getting Salt River pigs because one salt river is near and dear to my heart because it was the last big style unit that I sold before I left psi back what I used to sell hog buildings very nice and - it's a bigger style unit so like we're getting between seven eight hundred a day and so we'll fill this site in two weeks - we don't weaned on Christmas but that makes it a lot better the sooner you fill it the more even the pigs are so when we go to sell it won't be stretched out so far and the sooner you get full the more you can get into your rhythm you know of what you got to do in a day you can plan your work better because you don't have to worry about getting pig sort and pigs you can come straight on treating them and spotting them and you know pulling pigs and it just makes your work flow a lot better these are really healthy right now which is great so we're like knock on wood we're really lucky because psych - those are home farm pigs and those have been super healthy and these have been - so with any luck we're gonna have two really good groups of pigs back-to-back which will make Sawyer happy boys because it's less fakes to treat less work for everybody involved so we got some more wieners coming in today trucks about 30 minutes out so he should be here pretty shortly we're running all the rest of the pigs on the north side because the south side is all fall I like I showed you guys yesterday so barrows will come off the truck first and then there'll be the guilts and I don't know if we'll get it all the way full today but we'll definitely well no I think we will I think we'll get this whole room completely full today and if we don't we'll have very few pigs that we have to run in here and then we'll have to move over to this side tomorrow forgot to mention that we got our bag feed delivered and we got our pellets we've got our barracuda we got more pellets so we use these for mostly the runt pigs but besides the Barracuda if you guys if you guys watch the last video the wouldn't we got pigs my dad really went in an in-depth on what why we use this feed and what's it you know what's its main use for but Barracuda we've mostly used for all the pigs pellets we kind of use just for rump pigs and pigs big pens of pigs you know just to get them started easier and faster and the same thing with those pellets so good that we got the back feet in and we're already starting to use it and with the pigs that we got we already using a bag of Barracuda which what a badass name Barracuda for I don't know feed but Barracuda is just a badass name for a brand I think so now we pretty much just wait for the truck to get here and we're gonna get going trucks here so I got all the pigs in and I got them separated so I got a Pharaoh's on that side and let's have a gate separate it with the gates and I have two guilts on this side just the way we kind of wanted it so I'm gonna count out 62 attention the Barrows put them all you know spread them out and then I'm gonna come over here and do the same thing with the guilts my lunch is probably gonna fog up because it's warmer here and the humanities higher but I got all the pigs pen and put away and I don't out evenly this building is completely full probably gonna have to run a few pigs out of this room into that room so I'm gonna feed these guys put Barracuda in the feeders and on the bin pad there's already feet on the mat that's all I got to really do is just put the Barracuda on and they'll be all good to go and ready to take on this new take on their new home it's been a few days since I've talked to you guys and we got that one side completely full like I showed you guys and we moved those 69 pigs over to this side and we also fill this whole entire side of the pigs and I don't have to take it down at this end we're gonna have to fill the rest of it today I'm thinking that we're gonna build the amount of pigs were gonna get today is gonna fill up this whole building maybe we'll have a little bit of space left over but I'm thinking that we're gonna get it completely full today and then tomorrow we're gonna have to move up to the next building right now it's just another waiting game waiting for the truck to get here there should be here around 11 o'clock and I've already toured and fed all these guys so I got all that out of the way [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] got them all in now it's time to sort it all spread out and where they're supposed to be so this whole this building is completely full its buildings completely cool and we're gonna have to move on to the next building tomorrow so that's pretty much it guys we've got this whole 2,400 building
