well Lydia we planned our breedings this year on the farm but we haven't had much success yet no willow got pregnant in July but then she miscarried and we bred penny in August but we don't know if she's pregnant yet we still need to breed all the other goats too so if we don't breed our goats and our animals early enough in the year they're going to have babies when it's way too hot here in the desert so after we get done with this morning chores we are gonna map out all of the animals breeding including the pigs [Music] this milking station is a mess looks like Luna gets to be first today she jumps in the theater and she digs in them in the pellets to like get grain or just be picky and then all this happening oh hello if there were some grant see if she'll be better though [Music] you know people have suggested making like an exit door yeah have you thought about doing that thought about that it's so hard because it's already so tight in here I don't know where we would do it yeah well then boats we just sit at the exit door they would just sit over there right yeah you're trying to get in I don't know we'll have to see if we can figure that out once we finish the chicken coop and then move this over because it's so hot and we've kind of stalled on the chicken coop Alice we've been doing a few fun projects inside so later today I'll show you what those are they're pretty cool right we've got some beans that the kids didn't like so let's see what happens to the pigs Freddy last time bowling yum feelings trying to go for it but I don't know pre nasty smells good [Music] we are out of white bees and more should be coming yeah I ordered a bunch more for now they're pretty nasty oh yeah instead we're just get a rag in some soapy water yeah [Music] alright these later Doris [Music] flirt all right $3 gosh she can keep it's a messy kind of a disaster here [Music] okay flair if you can lay on that corncob alright thanks Benny wow that looks like a rooster but it has been crowded all yeah they're they're like nicest sweetest chickens yeah when you pick them up they are really big they're only like ten weeks old and they're huge yeah gold feeds little stud things got to be a research Peter as big as my hands you love milking chilly today [Music] where'd your collar go oh is that the collars have been actually working well they haven't come off yeah I did cut off willows and Chili's the other day so I thought we did it a little too tight and I didn't want to hurt them so that's why til he didn't have one this morning but so far so good nothing break they'll probably still break but so far they haven't whoo whoo are you done already willow must have miscarried early on because I keep looking for signs that she's unhappy or in distress but he's acting like happy little normal willow right that goes see you later willow have a good day don't break that necklace I'm gonna break it last but not least aleena [Music] do it Luna go all right letting out the big babies like that in here it's too hard she can't turn her head almost got it she keeps dropping on Bella's now bigger than willow but I still think willows kind of ahead of her in the herd Stella is Lunas baby willow is Penny's baby willows older so little gets to tell me tell Stella what's what oh there she goes again second breakfast yeah okay bye Luna have a good day be nice to everybody hello they're already done you're already done you already ate mm-hmm I just wanted a little scratch okay her head gets further back ghosts don't like to be scratched on their ears like dogs they like their necks scratch this is how you put a I'll go in the trance [Music] oh she's our livestock Guardian dogs she's surveying the pasture making sure that nothing will attack them oh yeah there's Kiwi but I don't see your peacock look oh there's one right there they still kind of stay by her so we need names for these peacocks all right Kevin wants you guys to help name the peacocks yes we haven't really named them yet we think that they are both girls so give us advice sir give us give us name ideas for these two little key thoughts we're not gonna be able to keep them long term here but we'll raise them up for a little bit longer and see how they grow up give us some names otherwise you'll have to have my weird names that I have okay it's time for us to figure out the breeding plan for all of our animals and because looks like super confusing you're gonna draw it out so we have five goats total right five yes give luna penny doris Tilly and little willow those are our five adults and then we have Stella and fern as babies so seven goats in all five adults two children so we're not gonna read Luna because Luna is definitely not the goer we're not gonna beat her right no she's too unstable just wouldn't work okay we've already decided that we already bred willow and she was supposed to be due in December but apparently she's not and so we're doing the breeding process again so hopefully she'll have her babies end of January beginning of February so we've already started with Doris's breeding and if all goes well she would be due in February and Penny same thing we've already bred her if penny turns out to be pregnant then she would be due in January that leaves Tilly so the plan is right now to breed her so she'll be due in March and if all works out they should all have their babies at the right time we won't be breeding stellar fern until like next year a couple of years later yeah so it would be next fall and then they would have babies in 2021 so a little ways away for Stellan fern so we're trying our best to hit this window we've got January to April which is like optimal time for them to deliver babies here or it's not too hot not too cold just right just right and we started a little early this year because we wanted to make sure that we hit it so we still have some time even though wills not pregnant we just definitely don't want to get past April and now it's time to talk about the pigs all right so far they haven't bred yeah it's too hot I think they had never met each other before so they've been pretty good together and they've been doing some kissing and laying by each other lately is that an indication yes of each other so right now it's too hot 115 degrees but in about a month it's gonna be in the 80s and 90s and they will totally get pregnant they or she okay hopefully but I wanted to make sure and point out that a pig is pregnant for three months three weeks and three days about four months she'll have babies so like February or so probably be really perfect yeah so if they breed in October then we should expect babies January to February okay that is the plan hopefully happens when it comes to the chickens first of all I'm not very good at drawing chickens so I have to do that over we only have a few roosters here so as far as the chickens go the Roosters I mean we may have some babies with the Roosters it doesn't really matter how many roosters we have we have to have broody chicken that's true so I guess we'll just kind of have to see if we have any baby chicks this spring but when it comes to Kiwi we know she's a great mom she'll sit on anything and hatch anything but yeah we're gonna give her a break here and then maybe in the spring sometime we'll let her hatch something else I don't know yeah maybe some giant ostrich egg something we're gonna find out from the vet a little bit later today if willows blood work is good and she's safe to be bred again so wish her luck all right so because it's been so hot and we haven't been able to really do many projects outside we decided to spruce up our hallway and a few of our bedrooms so let me show you what we did first off we painted the entire hallway stark white so everything could be nice and crisp and clean we got some new picture frames of art that I love and then we got some new linen cabinets which I'm super excited about because oh my gosh this thing has been a disaster but now it's all good and we can organize all of our stuff which I love to do organizing heals my soul guys I love it of course I labeled everything it's really nice to have things tucked away in the guest bedroom we actually did something kind of cool besides getting brand new carpet we also put together a Murphy bed so this used to be our office now we're kind of turning it into a guest bedroom but we don't want the bed to be out all the time so we got this snazzy Murphy bed and yeah once we find a mattress for it you have all sorts of people come stay with us the kids rooms we just kind of did like a fresh coat of white paint spruced it up we got brand new carpet just a few little pieces of furniture and a few decorations and decor that they wanted so it feels good to have the kids rooms all fresh and clean and organized at least we have something put together right the hall bathroom is the biggest project of them all we have been completely redoing this thing we've got some new paint on the wall but the biggest thing has is going to be the vanity cabinet the countertop and sink and then a backsplash and a new faucet it's gonna be awesome I'm not gonna show you our master bedroom because it's a disaster and it's the last project on our house that we have yet to take on so when we do that I'll show you guys that so did you guys have fun fixing up your bedrooms yeah yeah to get everything good yeah it does look good we still need to add a few more art pieces on your wall things that you like but so far so good well it's that time again it's time for irrigation favourite day for some that's right hate the irrigation they don't know what's coming yet but it's coming we irrigate our yard about every other week throughout the summer and then every month and during the winter and this is the way that US Arizonans water our lawns especially if we have bigger Lots like this it's crazy how it slowly starts filling up the yard look at leas Chris cricket topping out of the water quick they were all living down in the canal yeah look at they're all they like climb up Chicka Chicka Chicka Goods oh man these chickens better hurry and come over now they're like now we'll stay in the shade the water comes from a local lake comes down all the different canals and then into everybody's backyards it sounds kind of crazy but it is the most efficient way for us to water because our climate is so arid that the water evaporates really fast if we try to water with sprinklers so flood irrigation is is how we do it here look at all these pecans we're gonna have this here it's so funny this pecan tree only produces like every other year so that is if Stella doesn't eat all of it we can have the dead leaves yum yum yum this system was developed by the Hohokam Indians about 1,500 years ago and we still use it today in modern farming it's a pretty ingenious way to get water to our lawns the pigs love the irrigation but the goats hate it so we never know if they're gonna realize that they need to get on that side of the yard soon enough so everyone so now we'll get one of them trapped over in a corner so we'll see what happens today well it's been three hours it looks like all the goats made it across the yard in time so they're not stuck over here guys all good you've got Ron and Hermoine over here and we've got the Peacocks that got stuck but it looks like no other animals got stuck anywhere oh she walked through and they're too afraid to get over go they can definitely fly but they stay by Kiwi that's for sure first thing we do is take out this fake game that way our neighbors can get all the water that they need and then we shut our two smaller gates and that's how we do irrigation the worst thing about irrigation is the bugs that have been in the grass they come up and they're like floating in the water so when you're walking in you'll get stung by different bugs so like I had ants all over my legs that's just because they get trapped and they're looking for anything to climb on and that's me [Music] [Music] okay guys so willows blood tests came back and vet says that she's all ready to be bred again and do this whole long process so we're gonna give her a little reward wow that's so delicious yeah willow we have a present for you Doris she's seriously not gonna eat them okay freakin reloj didn't you're like them George Tilly look oh great well you were so picky do you all want Luna so I'm a sweet baby [Music]
