Breaking the biggest myth : DOCTORS ARE NOT RICH! Doctors vs Engineers!

hello everyone my name is dr gupta i did my undergraduation from ames delhi following which i did my post graduation in pediatrics from ames delhi and i'm currently pursuing my dna pediatric oncology in this video i wanted to break the biggest myth that almost everyone amongst you tends to have but we doctors are filthy rich as if money is just flowing out of our hand we don't have we have so much cash that we don't know what to do with it and every doctor is greedy every doctor is uh you know uh super duper rich and uh and obviously because they're so rich it's always a worthwhile to become doctors as compared to engineers so i'm going to break this myth no doctors are not rich doctors are definitely not filthy rich and i'll tell you my example as an example and uh then bring you the hard facts and reality so i joined ames back in 2007 2012 at the young age of 17. as compared to an engineer just graduation self character i spent five and a half years doing my undergraduation i became a doctor at the age of 22. i first started earning out of four and a half years as during my internship 18 000 rupees per month at the age of 23 years i joined as a junior resident in the department of pediatrics i worked at ames in space phenomenally well as far as central government institutes are concerned and as far as any other hospital in this country is concerned you will be doing your post graduation and no institute pays more than any central government institute so my salary was the highest in my field it may be very clear about that there's nothing more than this so at the age of 23 i was earning what around 80 000 rupees for a month every year the central government gives you know the da increases and the increment comes started increase by five to seven thousand rupees per year so i've given a rough estimate of my salaries that every year at 24 years i was running around 90 000 per month at 25 around 1 help a month i'm 26 right now my salary right now is around 1.2 lakh rupees per month and uh all this is by the way post tax and uh at 27 28 my again salary will increase by 5 to 10 000 rupees every year this is again let me tell you the best case scenario this is only happened because i have done my ug from memes this has only happened i because i've done my pg from england this is only because i'm doing doing my uh dm again from ames if i was in any state government college barring delhi delhi has good salaries gets probably around 55 to 60 000 rupees per month same for you know someone in gmc uh someone in uh you know himachal pradesh someone in uttarakhand or gujarat or things like that state government coffee come here and they will consider the major portion of doctors rather than the central government institute central governments compared to number of state government institutes given a rough estimate salaries in tamil nadu for example are not more than 40 000 rupees per month imagine you are 25 years old or 26 years old you are in a seniorism you have completed your sr uh completed your surgery training and now you're as a sr and sixty thousand rupees for a month so doctors are not at all filthy rich we should stop believing [Music] private sector hospital already 1.4 million why do you think they will give you more than two two or two or maybe three lakh per month he says my private hospital making a joint government almost similar salaries actually and by the way i'm telling you i am the best case scenario i am someone who cracked my ug entrance my dm entrance in the very first attempt and postgraduate entrance also within six months the literally the second attempt sneakers i have a good amount of savings 1.2 lakh rupees per month not a small amount i have all the luxuries in life i'm able to record this because i have an ipad i have an iphone i'm i was able to make that video with the uh airports pro and the you know the redmi button c because i have money i'm able to spend that money i have a car uh i and apart from that i have a decent amount of savings in my account which i saved over the years as a resident of my best timing but does does this mean i'm filthy filthy rich so i'm going to explain you the biggest concept which people tend to have with doctors are physicists and it's always better to be a doctor as compared to an engineer normal distribution things like that they constitute a very small minority of doctors they're just what 2.5 similarly a very small minority of doctors will be poor or not earning good but what i'll tell you is that every doctor belongs to upper are doing decently well in life this is the key word that you should always remember almost every doctor ends up doing decently well in their life they will earn to maybe three lakh rupees per month maybe four lakh rupees three to four lakh rupees per month and but this earning will come at a very late age when they are 35 see me they would probably be 32 or 33 years or old so by the time people start earning recently as a doctor the age is already 35 37 so many family responsibilities and that is the reason all doctors i see are upper middle class with the engineers is that their distribution is much much more broad so if you're an engineer from an average college uh let's say the whole sector is my salary both come on maybe even thirty thirty five thousand rupees per month twenty thousand twenty five thousand rupees per month but a doctor irrespective of the college he's from a girl post graduation career from any average state medical college already in sixty seventy thousand rupees per month they can earn a lot as well right your all these ceos and everything they are all engineers who they probably do their nbn after point of time and they start earning at a much earlier age so what i'll say is these things end up being balanced out ingeniously median salary doctors make gaurav munzel the engineer earns more than roman senior doctor all the romans said he's a face of an academy frankly so yeah but the thing what i want to say is that uh that doctors as a whole community do tend to do well they are aggressively positioned in that upper middle class bracket engineers are more spread out so there is a possibility that if you did uh do your engineering might earn exceedingly well or you might not earn that well iodines in general tend to do well but again the cost of company calculated salaries have 1.2 1.3 lakh rupees by the time they so this is the total amount of money i've spent on my education versus if they end up doing their um uh you know mba from i am ahmedabad as well an engineer they will be spending close to 30 to 40 lakh rupees you know over the period of two years so what i'm basically trying to say is that everything ends up eventually being evening out but if you think doctors are filthy rich if money is your goal then don't join medicine join this because you like biology join this because you like science join us because you like medical science join this because we want to save lives don't join it for the thought that you'll become fully rich aggressively upper middle class okay remember that most of us will be like that learn to enjoy you know the certain advantages of being a doctor obviously respects your engineer no doubt about that but amalie safety come here you see so many attacks on doctors almost every day and my workouts are exceedingly gonna take you to get out after 30 i'm coming to home after 30 hours not 36 30 hours so what i'm basically trying to say is that don't join um or don't try to become a doctor because you're like best i pass a hoga like that foreign and everything you know uh and though though as a doctor and things like that no you will be disappointed you will be disillusioned with this field join this field for the fun of this field join this field for the knowledge of the street join this field to save lives join this field to uh you know be like uh but so hopefully i've cleared a bit of doubts and uh maybe so hope you like my video thank you and have a nice day
