hey welcome back to class and cool I'm super excited for today's Late Late Late Night Live stream um there's a new update from monsters and memories and we're going to have a quick agenda today just because there's a lot to go over I'm going to go ahead and share my screen in three two one boom all right there we go um so six quick Parts uh but it might take a while to get through it and and we're going to hop right into the first part I promise but it's the latest update uh for the new biomes um we're going to go over some information about who or what is monsters and memories um part three it's going to be additional videos showcasing the latest update and then part four I want to show you guys around kind of educational how to get in contact with the team how to learn more about the project and how to follow to get your own updates um part five is going to be more in depth about monsters and memories somebody's pressed and part six we got to end it with some EverQuest so um without further Ado let's get into [Music] it oh let's do that again shall we [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay we don't care about uh the news so way to ruin the moment but how exciting was that um that was phenomenal so I am going to go over a couple things um this is the agenda for today uh what you just saw is let me just uh C cue this up one more time and get rid of Taylor Swift I really got to turn off uh recommended videos I'll I'll worry about my Taylor sft uh addiction later I'm just kidding um all right so as you can tell I'm super excited um I'm absolutely uh just nerding out over this I spent the last few hours just going over um what I wanted to talk about today again this is a more of a live chat chill relax conversational stream and it's really just unfiltered so we'll go over uh the biome uh but I do want to address some questions that a lot of people have you know especially if you stumble onto this video um since I do do some videos about like in shrouded and I'll probably be doing other stuff um this channel is primarily focused on EverQuest right EverQuest related things such as monsters and memories um I'll go over why those two have anything to do with each other uh Pantheon rise of the Fallen also kind of encompasses that Niche EverQuest genre but um before we do any of that I want to do a shout out to this guy so Robert angrand and I'm sorry if I'm saying your name uh incorrectly he is the sound uh composer the music composer for Monsters and memories and we'll go over um the team a bit later uh that's going to be in part um two I believe uh yeah yeah we're going to go over that in part two but I highly recommend like stop what you're doing now stop watching the stream go find this guy um easy way to find him is just to type in Monsters And Memories music and you will find his channel subscribe follow him and it's not just Monsters And Memories he composes music for a lot of different stuff so check them out highly recommend it um so let let's go into this I really want to go over this because um there's so much going on here and to the untrained eye or without understanding the context of monsters and memories and what's been going on with that project it it doesn't seem like much but it's a lot um so I'm going to go ahead and hit play and I'm just going to stop in certain places [Music] so F first things first um a lot of what the focus is um a lot of what I've been focusing on is like the atmospheric stuff I've been preaching this for a long time but like look at games like valheim that are low poly or pixelated graphics but what they do is they work a lot on theum uh illumination the atmosphere fog um sun rays you name it right I don't know the technical designer terms but you use a lot of those art tricks or photography tricks and it just comes out amazing so the water looks amazing first of all you'll notice the water during this the water is phenomenal and and yes you can swim already even in the stress test and uh play test that we [Music] did so pay attention to the sky boox as well uh the sun rays the Shadows right I saw this entire scene essentially without any of that well the Sky Box was there but it just makes a huge difference [Music] yeah I agree with John what John said he said the water is amazing this jungle biome first of all again shout out to the music composition because the music that you're hearing in the background is made for Monsters and memories made for this video so you can expect that as you're adventuring through the world you're going to hear this kind of music um um and let's play through this so as you can see it it's got like a green fog um thing going on so let's press play and look at the water how it [Music] changes so I'm going to um just share the screen here for for a moment so again as you can see the textures they seem like low poly right and it it wouldn't be too appealing right it would just be like EverQuest one without these with this without this lighting but that's kind of like the art style that they're going for um and it it this is just the beginning like this is just like 60% of what they're capable of like if we were fully developed and not in the super super early stage of development um as this game is I mean this would be even more phenomenal but it already is looking good just with this additional atmospheric [Music] stuff it gets really really dark in this game and I really really appreciate that cuz as you're running through the forest or and in the case of when I was testing it it was like the sand biome it's super dark you hear the crickets or whatever other atmospheric sounds in the background and you're struggling to see like you pull out the torch not for fun or because it gives you some kind of stat boost but it actually helps you see what the heck you're doing because you don't want to run into that random highlevel mob and just get one shot you can just as as you're walking through this Forest just imagine like around any corner there could be a mob and you can't even see it all you're trying to do is get back to town but getting back to town is and Venture in in him by [Music] itself that's a cool little Bridge [Music] there it's getting [Music] darker I wonder where that [Music] goes all right it's super dark in this Forest as you can hear with the sound the music it's changing because we're entering into a new biome when I saw this and I Shar this on my previous stream I um I got teot no I'm I'm kidding but I got really excited um John um in the chat says the darkness makes the Skybox really shine at nighttime also the dark the darkness makes light points pop so much which makes you explore it's so immersive 100% agree if you go back and look at some of my live streams of the actual um gameplay footage um I I pointed that out where I was walking around at night and I saw this light somewhere in the distant mountain and I realized there was some kind of like structure or or Castle or ruin and it made me want to go check it out and the fact that it I didn't need a uh exclamation point or a map to go want to explore it was a visual um it it it just like visual stimulus that made me want to go in that direction and explore but this is my favorite part so I'm going to change it to the screen only making big and I'll try not to talk too too much but here we [Music] go [Music] again uh to John's point you can see the light from a distance right so you kind of know you're getting close to civilization of some sort or maybe this could just be uh some kind of Illumination from the tree some kind of plant or it could be um a number of things right but subtle lighting like that to guide your path even if it's from a plant or or a man-made uh object I'm all for [Music] it so welcome to Kellan I mean what more can I say Obviously EverQuest didn't create the tree City Lord of the Rings did it um in the first movie and every other fantasy story that has elves um or certain type of races live in trees it's every kid's childhood fantasy to live in a treehouse after all so the fact that they're bringing it back in such a majestic way keep in mind this game is being developed in uh the unity engine I think I'm 90% sure but if one of the devs wants to chime in and say no idiot it's not that is cool just let me know um but I'm I'm pretty positive that they're doing all this in unity so I know for a fact every Quest wasn't built in unity so I'm excited to see what they're going to do with this above and beyond what they've already [Music] done um if you look at the bottom of the screen um you can see that there's some railings so there's places with railings there's other places that don't don't have railings it looks like there's going to be um uh some of the parts of the tree are going to be Hollow so I can imagine there's going to be merchants on these platforms there might be staircases leading up which reminds me kind of of how World of Warcraft did the whole approach to The Elves and the trees which I for I even forgot to mention that World of Warcraft did it too right so you can say oh they copied EverQuest then right no one copied anyone this is all a high fantasy um lore where there's people that live in trees and they're doing a great job representing it here I love [Music] it oh man it switched too quick look look at these platforms and and my feedback is yes please yes please more platforms make it a big lived in city like Kellan feels like a big city but after a while you kind of learn your way around it and this is this is great I again just amazing I mean I apologize for doing this but I kind of want to stop on each frame just for a second [Music] so there's one two three four five six seven trees visible right here and if you kind of look off into the distance and you look at the depth and you think of the scale so look at my mouse cursor on the left I'd say the NPC is probably a little bit higher than this um railing right so you're [Music] walking I mean that that's a large large area you can see all your friends running around and again the lighting is only get to get better excuse [Music] me really [Music] cool oh I like that they did a shot where you're kind of lower to the ground looking up yeah and and I'm sorry for camping on this uh biome for so long but it's like this is this is my personal favorite this is what I've been asking to see again um there's some people that recreated Kellan in in um Unreal Engine and in unity just for the heck of it so I mean I even watch those kind of videos that's how pressed I am on Kellan so you know sue me so again we were talking about the atmosphere so now this is more of like maybe early morning or the daytime I'm speculating and making that up but you can see how it's a little bit more visible but there's a fog and an atmosphere going on here and there again oh hold on notice how this is this is like the top of something so in in this biome it might be that there's hills and mountains or hilly areas I mean that would be really cool if you can well again we don't know anything about the Zone this is just a biome right but this this looks like a high peak of some sorts and he you're looking over to see the whole city that's a really cool touch if they have that that's a really cool touch I'd be the guy sitting here like literally just chatting with my friends looking over the city watching like a bustling City running around that's really cool maybe doing some crafting I I can see this being a nice little um Noob Camp you got the city in the background maybe some kind of Bandit or fairy Camp here nice little I don't know maybe some kind of water creatures too here that fit the high fantasy of um an Elvish type of city and again I'm speculating on that too we have no idea whether or not this is going to be an Elvish city um I've saw I've seen screenshots where there's cat people that live here so I mean cats like trees right who knows all right welcome to Lava stor St mountains right it this this is really cool too um I'm not a I I didn't spend too much time in lava storm mountains when I played EverQuest but when I went there I always had to watch my step and this is definitely really cool so I'm going to be quiet and press [Music] play so I'm going to stop again because this goes back to my previous point about this being built in a modern engine and and again you might ask well you know John what does that matter um the reason it matters is because when I see this I think EverQuest right the graphic style the way the game play is built out so for me this is all I've ever asked for hey give us some a modern EverQuest with a modern engine but don't reinvent the wheel you know and you saw how the steam was lifting up you have this ash flying around in the air there's so much atmosphere that can still be added to this and it's just going to make it that much great [Music] [Applause] [Music] better and notice the charred trees so again depending on where you stand or stand close to it I I'd imagine this would be have some layer of Illumination to it [Music] all right now if you look close again the point I made about it everything changing when it gets dark look closely at the trees and you can see that they are indeed um illuminated from from The Burning uh coal or whatever it is um that's that's you know the tree is burnt right and and you're going to be visually be able to approach a tree and see that which is really cool [Music] all right this is my least favorite biome in any video game but for some reason this when I saw it in a monsters and memories actually made me feel very happy literally I don't like snowy areas and video games for whatever reason but I'm just going to press play and we can enjoy together because I like [Music] [Music] it definitely very chill very [Music] relaxing but dangerous at the same [Music] [Music] time I mean this is complete darkness right and you're just watching the snowfall and again you're we're going to have to have some illumination whether it's a torch a spell some kind of orb um you know certain races are going to have infravision Ultra vision and there there's going to be a lot of ways to use this atmosphere um just to add to the depth and the adventure that was awesome ah that was great I hope you guys like that um I hope you guys like that now we got a lot more to talk about um so we're going to hop back into the agenda um feel free to leave your comments but I high I'm going to include links to all of these um in the description so I encourage you to go see the video for yourself um and provide feedback to uh the team so part two is going to be who and what is monsters and memories cuz understandably 99% of the people watching this video have either played EverQuest or and have looked into monster moners and memories some of you have played monsters and memories and I think it's just fair to back up a little bit and talk about who what this is um all about that's what it's all about so they have um this is their homepage first of all monsters of memories.com um they have a road map so they have the uh Trello going on here where they're showing you exact what they're planning on working on their current goals for 2023 which we're now in 2024 it has the updates here uh we'll go over that in a bit and uh the proof of concept stages that they're in that one thing to understand about monsters and memories for those that are excited but a little sheepish about being too involved is that this is this whole project is an appr proof an proof of concept stage um basically a pre pre pre-alpha early development stage um the best way to support these uh this team is to get the ward out you know uh to get involved provide feedback join the play tests and help them build this game from their ground up but um here's uh a little bit about the game so what game engine are you using early in the process we opted to use let's make it easier for you guys to read early in the process we opted to use Unity as the engine the decision was made in part due to the speed with which we could get it up and running modified to include our data driven tools and leverage the server and networking layers since then we've continued to work on the tools but have Rewritten the server from scratch what player races will there be uh we are currently discussing uh the following deep dwarves deep elves deep gnomes dwarves gnomes goblins halflings High Elves humans ogres trolls and my favorite wood elves um of course check out their concept art and this list is not final which is great uh will there be instant instanced areas now this is a controversial topic um but I think you guys will be excited to hear that our goal is to keep the world as public and shared as possible this means that we'll refrain from using instancing I.E providing copies of the same space to different groups of players unless we determine that no other solution provides the results we're seeking we're aware of the ramifications of this approach including things like contested spawns content saturation Etc um the lead developer designer whatever you want to say Sean um uh he worked on the Everquest and worked for Sony and other companies for over 20 years so they've they they know the solutions that instancing brings to the table but also the problems um we'll go over that later regarding who the team is so how big is your raid size we plan on focusing on single group content and ensuring that it maintains its viability as the primary form of content multi-group content will exist in the in world events and other open world targets of opportunity the goal is to allow our small team to focus on addressing the more common cases of what to do with solo and grouped players rather than explicitly encourage a multi-group or Raid based progression path as the primary form of endgame what they're trying to say here and this is in my own words I'm not speaking for him I'm just summarizing it the way I see it is the end game is all of the game whether you're level one adventuring with a friend level leveling up to level five Solo or with a friend that is all the experience the experience is not the end game where you rush from 1 to 60 and then the game starts the game is the whole uh content from the lowlevel midlevel high levels and then creating alts that's going to be big in this game is it's not just about getting to level 60 you played the Druid you played the warrior you created a cleric the the the every experience is going to be different and fun and memorable hence the name Monsters And Memories how big will the world be this is one thing I'm excited about we're currently designing a large World underworld alternative planes of reality heavens and history because these games can last a long time and lore is fun this is by far my favorite part of anything that else they've written lore is fun absolutely when you can get immersed in roleplay and fall into the lore and really enjoy it and be a part of it and kind of carve out your own um history about yourself and who you are as a player in that world and how you make an impact is just an awesome awesome uh feeling but the proof of concept will include roughly 3 to five zones in a specific area a western uh Coastal desert region named night Harbor so this is the proof of concept that we're talking about this is what currently um is primarily available even now for whenever they have tests metrics at least as of December when they had their public play test metrics derived from the proof of concept will drive her understanding of scope at launch and the subsequent content rollup plans excuse me what's the setting we're building an entirely new universe and lens some that's rooted in very traditional tropy Western High fantasy EG EverQuest or dungeon dragons or even World of Warcraft we're putting our little twists and takes in but overall we want this world to be familiar and nostalgic it's both serious and Charming filled with mysterious ruins familiar monsters and then usual elves and squirrels and that's funny um I appreciate that they threw my my elves in there when will The Game launch uh this might answer everyone's question about whether or not they should be excited and I believe because of their approach and they're not asking for anyone anyone for money you should be excited because all you're doing is supporting a proof of concept right we are currently working through a proof of concept which is intended to demonstrate all of our core game playay and features once this is complete we'll use that data we've gathered from that process to determine next steps develop a production plan and update the road map what player classes will there be classes potentially included or represented are Archer Bard Beastmaster cleric Druid Elementalist enchanter fighter Inquisitor monk Necromancer Paladin Ranger Rogue uh Shadow Knight Shaman spellblade and Wizard and again the list is not final um what's a controlled space one a area in which instancing has been historically beneficial and this is kind of piggy backing off of the instancing conversation one area in which instancing has been historically beneficial is in controlling the player count variable allowing for encounters to be tuned without fear of zerging out of party assistance Etc we will experiment with controlled spaces example limited entry rooms to determine if there's value to the approach but even these will follow public space rules example exclusivity if it doesn't work we'll scrap the idea I really you know I'm I'm glad they put that information in there but you know as far as the the game itself um I'm more excited about everything else that's been mentioned so far I'm not even worried about the instancing um conversation on the left here because um um I just don't think it fits fits this niche of a game and and most of the developers probably agree that but they are they do have to solve a problem of how do you creatively solve the issue of People camping the same mob or um you know just hogging all of the content for themselves but there's plenty of ways to solve that problem you just have to think outside the box and they are um will I be a a solo if you're industrious enough it's possible our game is focused on players and classes being dependent on each other so we will be tuning the content with groups of two or three to six people in mind we'll work to ensure that there are ways to spend your time as an individual that feel meaningful for shorter sessions But ultimately the game is group focused this is my opinion um it absolutely should be like this um uh we'll use EverQuest as as an example if you made a um a warrior class right a primary tank you would be the most desirable player in a group like you'd be able to find a group just like that why because every group needs a tank and what better tank than a warrior again that's that's I'm not saying that's the best tank so don't roast me in the comments I'm just saying for the context of this conversation however there's also say somebody like a druid which okay if you have five people in a group and you need a six Perth and it's between a cleric and a druid obviously they're going to pick the cleric right but the benefit of the Druid is that they have more utility so they might do a little bit of melee they do a lot of um uh crowd control uh they have some dot spells they have some um nukes right but none of those one things is overpowered right if you want nuking you'd want a wizard if you want uh crowd control maybe you'd want like a shaman or a Bard but I digress the point is each it should be class specific right if you're more of a solo player then maybe you want to play as uh an enchanter with a pet and if you're more of a group Centric person you'd play a warrior or a rogue um and then of course there's going to be a balance between the mobs camps in ways that as they say if you're industrious enough it's possible everything I just said outside of what was written is my opinion and I have no affiliation with their decisionmaking so just keep in mind this is all just Theory crafting and I'm using EverQuest as a baseline example so why did you go decide to go Zone based rather than streaming this is a great question something about zones just feels right yeah talk about running to the zone line because there's a train behind you and then as there's that one AFK player sitting at the Zone not realizing that there's a train being pulled to the zone line and then he comes back to his computer realizing he's dead not funny but if you're cynical that's kind of funny cuz you just imagine the Panic it's like what you come back to your computer like what the heck happened and you realize there's a train anyways I digress something about zones just feels right we like that you're clearly entering a new space which may present a new cast of NPCs new themes and even new rules we also like the gameplay associated with making it to the zone line with only a few hit points left 100% adrenaline Russia love it also we won't need leashes if you just train your monsters that's awesome doesn't this game seem a bit n Niche um in the current day and age outstanding observational skills it is very much a niche game I just want to stop right here this is this game is not going to be for everyone and that's quite all right um and and this is to the developers um you you you've been taking feedback you're going to continue to take feedback but never allow anyone from the outside looking in change the core tenants of the game and they're probably like duh who are you to tell us this we know this that's why we're making the game I know but I've seen it in the past where a little bit of money a little bit of Fame a little bit of something this or that all of a sudden changes the trajectory and EverQuest had that problem I mean it had a big development team and investors that wanted to sell boxes versus um creating a relable experience which is one of the reasons why the old zones and EverQuest died died after too many expansions came out and then they had to make it easier to um jump from place to place to place with with ports uh uh not ports but literally clicking a book and porting somewhere else more on that later um I I I took that one from from Sean by the way so let me continue we're making a game that's not meant for everyone and in staying narrowly focused we're hoping that it's a game that we can continue to boost strap the development of ourselves more investment means more desire for return on investment means more need to appeal to a broader audience which in turn means more features uh dilution handholding and in our opinion more risk I mean I haven't read this everything I just said prior to um reading this for the most part is how they feel so again it's not for everyone it might not be for you you and that's okay uh fortunately there's a lot of cool projects coming out um you might dabble on this you might go play some Pantheon you might go play um ashes of creation right you might jump between the three the type of player I am I'd spend about 50% of my time here 50% of my time in Pantheon rise of the Fawn um but in most cases if I'm just trying to chill especially after work um after hanging out with the kids I'd probably say be more like 90% of the time would be spent in um in this kind of game CU it's more kind of relaxed um okay why did we pick this audience all right so this is important to many of us uh first round MMO many of us first found MMO RPGs based on our love for muds pen and paper games crpgs or just the desire to share an online Fantasy World um mud is multi-user dungeon so it's basically like an MMO uh but a dungeon with more than one person we believe this uh to be our core audience and a group that continues to grow yeah I was 13 when I got into this don't tell me that there's not a 13 yearold somewhere that will experience this and be like yeah this is definitely not fortnite but I like it I'm sick of the sweaty fortnite type of gameplay I want something else and then it will grow on a new generation so you know we're we can't just go off the bias that oh it's not going to work for a new generation because they're not patient or they want everything uh handholding that's you can say that about every generation for the past you know thousands of years it's you know it all depends on the individual So within this broader addressable Market is a a subset of players that enjoy Challenge and community in a way that differs from the off offerings of more modern convenient gamified experiences they enjoy figuring things out on their own exploration and mechanics that have been left behind in newer MMOs couldn't agree more this is this is a question I've asked a lot how do we give you money I've been like the second I uh saw the the like the tree City I was like take my money um so we really appreciate that so many of you have offered to back this project but our focus is in providing a demonstrate demonstrably viable demonstrably viable game first and formost once we've had some uh people in and playing with us and are able to show you a solid proof of concept then we'll potentially discuss how best for you to support us Beyond spreading the word so um if you do want to pay them somehow right now pay them by doing what I'm doing spreading the word um in the scenario that we take external funding we'd rather go towards scaling the content of an otherwise functional game so basically the game's done and the funding will go to Just scaling it instead of just a promise or idea thanks again for all the support um obviously what platforms it will be on um it's going to be on the PC so yeah there are no plans for supporting other platforms at this time despite some of you allegedly having phones I like that humor okay so down here it says visit our game plan page for more if you have questions yada yada let me go to this link really quick um we're not going to go over this and the reason why is I want to encourage you to go to this um site yourself um one of the reasons I'm going to be providing all these links is so you can go check it out it's fun to read it's fun to get into it um but the next thing on the agenda is who or what so we covered the what part of uh monsters and memories I want to talk a little bit about who uh the team so let's let's take a look into this we will move on to the next part I know I've been camping on this um for for a bit but Story the development of monsters and memories began let me zoom in there we go and you know what I should have done this sooner all right the development of monsters and memories began as a series of discussions during live streams and and and interviews between a former EverQuest game designer his colleagues from that project and the fans who came to ask questions let me read that again sorry I got thrown off there the development of Eminem began as a series of series of discussions during live streams and interviews between a former EverQuest game designer his colleagues from that project and the fans who came to ask questions we often discussed how games of that era muds early 2000s felt more like Virtual Worlds and created a sense of place there was more social friction more of a sense of community and a greater sense of agency and wonder the topics became a more frequent part of our stream discussions so we set out to deconstruct them determine if we could recreate aspects of the field and potentially follow a design path that was all but abandoned as Games like World of Warcraft saw greater mainstream and Commercial [Music] success our open often live streamed development has enabled us to gather feedback and test these ideas with our community in real time and the project has in the 3 years since it's Inception grown into a team of over 15 artists designers programmers and others including professional game developers emulator developers Freelancers and professionals from other Industries our open approach has also allowed us to test critical infrastructure and core gameplay even while we're still early in development so that should answer a lot of your questions but I was talking about Sean earlier uh AK 11 robot um has been working in the gaming industry for the past 20 years at companies like Sony Online Entertainment s soe and uh King Isle entertainment uh he was the lead designer on Su several MMO titles including EverQuest and DC Universe Online most recently Shawn was the executive producer and chief product officer at Star Stable entertainment sea is focused on Creative uh Direction and production yeah I'm not used to talking that much all right so I'm going to leave links for all this and um we're going to revisit this in part four it's how to access latest updates social media Etc so let's move on from this topic um so you got to know a little bit about monsters and memories you have a baseline understanding about uh the game itself you know that it has a lot of similarities to EverQuest um so we can move off of that topic a bit uh I do want to jump into the latest update a little bit more so let's do this uh now we're going to this is uh Sean AKA a robot this is from 10 10 days ago this is his live stream on twitching with you [Music] so we're going to go ahead and scrub through this and take a look here love this aesthetic when everything's shining so the purpose of going here is because with the latest updates um that we saw in the biomes we can get a closer look at what the world actually looks like so this is the area with the huts and I'm going to back up just a bit all right I'm going to go ahead and hit play I'm going to let you watch the first few minutes of this and check it out and then we'll have a little bit of jumping around here and then move on to the next video we're like we we went into the mode of just like relaxing and making making the best of uh the extra time since Jasmine's off work all right so we've for the last three weeks the team has U Been challenging itself to knock out you guys um have been seeing desert for so long the team is uh challenged itself to kind of see how quickly we could convey different themes different biomes by just adding a few new textures new props um some different fog and lighting settings and stuff and let me switch to a different song this one's not right for the mood we're not we need to I think the right mood is this one this one's pretty [Music] [Music] good here we [Music] go so Simon Simon was working in this biome a jungle biome and created for it he created some new Huts jungle Huts naturally require a lot of human skulls [Music] so this area is friendly gotcha exactly K ma there you go [Music] the skulls of all those who said they don't like pineapple and pizza there's that bridge we were talking about it's a it's easy way to tell uh-oh wonder what dangers are in that lurking in that water or what the story is Simon are you still out there um so really really quick um first of all look at the water Reflections here um in a lot of places in the world that I've played so far there's already swimming so he's probably in like um GM mode well he's in unity literally if if you've paid attention then you can see that he's in unity and um he probably just has swimming turned off right uh cuz he's in development mode but um there's swimming there's cool water effects it's amazing is there anything is there anything you would like to comment on or add or so any we're going to let him run up to here and then we're going to jump around a bit thoughts that you had while you're working on this keep in mind i' I'd be happy to have you uh inv um but you guys just always just let me know whenever you want to hop in but you can you can do it in text and I'll read it out as well I'm assuming he's talking to one of the other devs so new Vine the designer there's something up I think on my machine there's something up with the with the textures a little sparkly I really like the effect you put in here for anyone wondering um I hope you appreciate all of this it's uh 2: in the morning so you know if I seem a little bit tired or worn out it's because it's late normally I'm bustling with energy and still just keep a nice chill by but it's a little late so bear with me as we work our way through this Simon said H I'd say so what he would like to say is the textures are temporary just threw some things together yeah so our our goal was just to see like could we quickly put some stuff together that gets us like 80% of the way and conveys what's up you know what I mean Darius asked did you guys experiment with more tree density I know kunark has some thinner trees that had my surgery got can or frozen forest biome is the other one we'll go there to cool off after this we're going to the next biome uh that we saw in the video it's the lava storm one that's what I'm calling it lava storm mountains you're not a fan of coffee Liz that's blasphemy sometimes we should keep our opinions to ourselves so we don't get judged scurvy Bard you're welcome yes beer chug I'm very clever I'm waiting for the shaders to compile you can't see the Shader compiling thing it's in the bottom right corner hidden there you go you see how the Embers on the trees are illuminated and I mean this is early early stage but it's going to look really [Music] cool what's up death by Nomes the falling Ash really is a nice touch zukin zukin says falling as is a nice touch yeah it's definitely cool um there you go so he got some light on he got a little Lantern now so we can see what's happening definitely um core gameplay [Music] um core aspect of the gameplay you know these backpacks kind of remind me of Ultima 8 um if anyone played ultimate 8 back in the 90s they know what I'm talking about but I mean it is just a normal backpack but it's it just reminds me of that for some reason all right we are going to jump around and see if we can get any would be like cool stuff out of this [ __ ] I'm going to get close to that looks really cool so we've got a lot of content to go through I encourage you to check out this video on your own so we're going to move on to the next um biome supp PL more at home so it chills [Music] out oh okay so this is like the snow one okay so so as I'm working as I'm working on my German using so as you can see this looks completely different different than what you saw in the preview this was 10 days ago so there's been a lot of work done um it looks nothing like this now CU they were working on the filters so we're going to skip past this because it's not a good representation of the latest product excuse me for the burps it's this reminds me of valheim right here it's it reminds me of the bi biome in valheim I think it's the plains biome in valheim it's just I don't know why it pops out to me but just kind of that feel now water looks great I'll have to talk to her off stream about that when people ask you what's your favorite language is You got to say American yeah I forgot to mention he's funny yeah he got the flowing floating rocks there that looks cool probably a wizard tower or something so for those of you that that don't know if you're new here or whatever Robert Helsinki and chat is the person who's made the music that we've been listening to um Micha says maybe it's just me but those trees look a bit highi Yeah so again keep in mind that this was a quick 3- week process of seeing can we get it sort of 80% right and then tweak things um yeah it's shocking how people watch this kind of stuff and immediately start saying yeah that looks kind of off I'm not trying to I'm not trying to judge cuz I'm not a developer either and a lot of people that aren't in development don't understand what gray boxing is they don't understand what proof of concept means they don't understand that those pretty video games that you see that are polished and refined that they were literally built with sticks and stones like with nothing but line and code right obviously it's a little bit more flashy but back in the day it was literally just typing code um this is a work in in progress and it's going to be for years to come but if if they can build an entire biome and Zone in 3 weeks and polish it and refine it like to their point they can have a working product um for beta testing ready who knows in a year you know so when I say years I don't mean like 10 years away don't take anything I take everything I say with a grain of salt or just don't believe a word I say that's probably the best idea that's why I'm giving you guys all these links so you can do your own research from building it in the way that he built it if if I'm saying that correctly let me know all right so we're going to move on skip past this biome a bit um oh this is going to be cool watch this screenshot and Discord had some big overhangs that add a lot of character and I grabb those Discord screenshots for the update as well he's zooming out so so we can kind of see the scope that's a lot of potential right there oh that's really cool that's massive I'm curious to know if that's just one zone or is this just just a biome for testing um I don't know what do you guys think Monty said it was going for that really long KES run there he said they definitely don't need to be this scale um Monty do you actually know offhand what it size-wise relative to like a Cora or even one of our zones I'm curious to know that Monty said he thinks it's uh K by two km that's huge okay let's move on um we're going to go to my favorite [Music] biome oh man this is great this is my first time watching this so I'm going to enjoy it just as much as everyone else I really love the textures and the similarity to uh EverQuest I mean I swear when I was in this Zone before I swear there were there was like some crickets or bird sound or something super chill let's get it time set and then it started raining and I was like oh man there we go Return of the Jedi somebody else made that comment recently you heard it in your head because the visuals are so evocative it's possible man but I swear I thought I heard some like foresty sounds and it started raining and it was so relaxing that's a so B who's been doing our props oh man you have no oh yeah and I was right see the um this hill over here uh there's probably like a cliff or something up there and um the forest is like hilly and goes up and down similar to Greater fade Ark I love it I just want to I I want to run around here this is great in night Harbor in other areas um has been the one setting this up thick holy [ __ ] lasa [Laughter] oh Kell thick oh my God I'm I'm glad that they opted to have some water um in this area or just in in this Zone period you know what I mean it's always nice to have water and I wonder if you jump from here and into the water if it negates the fall damage and you can still survive oh now we have the ambient what time is it in here it is uh so check it out right there so yeah there there's height besides just uh the trees and the platforms themselves there's like um this mountainous type of Hill area which it would look cool if you exit it off of there and there was I don't know some kind of Traders over there a guild and it goes into a cave or something like that maybe it goes inside and then comes back out who knows so much potential it is 5:00 p.m. going down oh let me turn off 800 p.m. to get the Crickets okay that's what's up that's why there was no crickets if we made a short fur a humanoid race for the forest but they're not friendly we get in trouble for it it depends on what they look like erra said this game is looking amazing right on we appreciate it well Goblin concepted um Goblin concepted some furry frogs Yeah Nick I was going to I was going to try to find a couple of these little like cavey there's a couple like areas where you can kind of go under the rocks or in the rocks in a cave and then I was going to fly up on onto the city that's cool that's exactly what I was speculating so maybe I am a decent Theory crafter oh look at that view and then um one of the other things that bu is wanting to do is we've got these wisps up here that will be moving around oh that's going to be cool watching those yeah so I just wanted to I don't know maybe it's just me but I I definitely wanted to show off the uh there's some spots um just quick disclaimer again if you're watching this afterwards feel free to skip this if this is not your cup of tea there's going to be more content besides this I'm camping here personally because this is my point of interest and you know I I get excited about stuff like this I've been waiting for a Kellan remake for 25 years now so and and maybe it's somewhere else but there was there was essentially where he had set up like some of these rocks there's just some nice like things where you could go under under the Rocks um and it just it felt really woodsy to me because whenever we're in the forest it's not just the trees um that make the feel it really is like that will there be smaller trees too yeah there will be there's one coming up actually um there's the terrain and stuff uh you know the oh I think it's actually I think it's up here I think we're flying towards it we love to see goblins concept of wood side by side with the environment see how close he nailed it if uh let's see if you if you send it to me in slack I can bring them up I might have it in a folder from putting the update together yeah I think it's a nice touch that they have the mountainous rocks Sal said we like more density with smaller trees too but I don't know how that uh would hit performance one it's it's also the kind of thing that we can use to make different areas feel different looks like we're yeah was like it was one of these areas here where it just I started following it when I was running around in here the other day then I went under some stuff and I was just like oh man this is all right cool all right let's fly yeah actually I'm glad I didn't move off of this cuz I want to see what it's like on the platforms I will find my cave later yeah why am I crouching he looks like Batman I'm doing the Daniel Sun fly I thought I thought I always look like this when I flew I'm ready to CR kick the hell out Batman oh look at that uh you see this smile on my face I'm this is H so exciting to me would love it experience a Kellan Kore Woods field safe up top and down below at a time it becomes extremely dangerous that's an interesting thought yeah that looks like the C is that my cave I think that's the cave down there image and slack all let's uh jump around a bit okay oh yeah this I love this so this is him going into that cave he was talking about this running having like that foresty like foresty pine needle ground and then having like the the stone where you're going [Music] under I don't know it just reminds me of places that I'd hang out as a kid and then you come in here and it's like it's even darker and spookier that's super cool uh let's uh okay just I don't know something about that right there just it grip me man I love being the woods um Darius said that's what I was saying before about kunark they used some trees where the trunk was a car just a car to an emerald jungle all right we're going to jump around and I I encourage you again we kind of have to move off of this and cuz we still have a lot of stuff to check out if that freaks you out if that opinion freaks you out don't worry um the game is not my opinions we uh we we smash our heads together to come up with a a good this feels like very warm and homey I think that's really cool it looks like the tree bark has some reflection on it as well um so I can imagine it's going to look way different even better than it does now nice yeah it's got a little shine to it it's amazing it it's amazing what you can do with atmosphere and lighting um even on flat textures I mean again I'll use I'll keep using valheim as an example cuz that game uses a lot of flat textures but it has so much Dimension because of the lighting and atmosphere what's the link effects not sure but this guy guys talking about the difference between old gross forest and Plantation I'm going to click that okay we're going to move on Gotta Love falling down from this showcase a fall or some parkour parkour ah oh [ __ ] there's no Collision I went right through the tree I was trying to jump on a mushroom chicken of the forest save me that that's actually a pretty cool thing if you can jump off of the platform and onto like a mushroom or something like that um yeah so um all right I'm I'm going to let you guys enjoy this separately um we are going to move on to the next one so this was from 11 days ago this is from 8 days ago trying to trying to get you guys a play test right now 3680 whoa what did he just say a play test not allowed to use magic though Nick I'd like a play test so there's that little camp he let's let's hop back here so super amped on the biomes right like the the variation is um variation is really nice you can see some new structures that Simon's made some reuse of uh reuse of some of our old assets like the Torches and skulls and stuff um run around a little bit in here but it's uh not only do we have cloaks we have a variety of cloaks my dear friend we've sensed the disturbance in the forest somebody's working on something new that doesn't suck sorry if you're modern Disney fans I don't want to be controversial oh my God what if you reach the tallest part of the zone and you get an achievement that you got The High Ground there won't be achievements in here all of your achievements will be inside just like in the old days this guy's got jokes inside all right but you and a friend could climb up there you could could role play um Mordor Sam and and fro yep I was just going to say get top Sam Sam all right let's move on Lower we're going to jump around but hey you know this is this is good for you guys to come back and watch this later and at least now you got a good understanding of what part of the video to look at depending and what you're interested in so this is interesting what is this I haven't seen this before Oh my gosh this reminds me of like the blackb Noles or whatever oh my goodness what am I I'm so excited oh man this is great this is so great all right let's go let's press play very fast I was thinking about that today look at this look at this air oh these guys uh they're hard I remember fighting these yeah gets faster and faster it's really amazing how much they've accomplished and it's only getting better and better and again one thing I want to remind everyone is that this is not what it's going to look like what's up Steel Dragon there's going to be better lighting atmosphere Shadows so much more 10 years is freaking blink nowadays that's the chall that's the scary thing I don't want to be a bummer for anybody that's in my age bracket but I was thinking about it I was like all right so I'm I'll be 49 and uh like a month in change I'll be 49 so that's that's that's basic they're going to be up and down oh that's a really cool waterfall and down t uh this reminds me definitely of that um again I think it's blackborow it's it's the Everquest um dungeon right next to um goodness gracious not halice not Freeport um oh it is halice right no um I wish John was in the chat he he'd help me remember this but burning sometimes raining John if you're if you're still listening or watching remind me what what the Everquest dungeon is that I'm thinking of right now pretty warm six months they're going to be some serious one with the NOS on the way to Halas Halas however you say that yeah look at the water effects that looks phenomenal grer that's have you not seen some of these other zones are you you're noooo here huh yeah I guess I'm I found the category of new new yeah yeah thank you Ronnie K kenos haven't seen any previews yet oh my goodness I'm so excited for you thank you Endo thank you Ronnie you got to you've got to check out our website been hanging out with this Goblin for a few years though 's you know she's she's really pretty but also a bit crazy right like one of these days we're going to look back on this and people are going to be uh they're going to be like what's the secret to your success it's like well we you know we spent a lot of time well basically from even before day one we were streaming the development process they're like oh great great yeah tell us a little bit about the development proc or a viking Shield wall neck edit okay the rest of the team's streams um Goblin streams zukan streams pis streams yeah and I'm I'm going to be sharing all that information during this video just so you know I'm going to give you all the links to all the developers and all of their twitches and streams and YouTubes because um you don't realize how much content there is to consume which is what I really enjoy about uh this Dev team like you you don't have to to sit around and wait for 6 months to get an update and then find out that the update is trash you know um I know some development companies do that and there's nothing more frustrating it's like if you want us to support you then just keep feeding us like we I'll eat this up all day I'll be at work and I'll just play this in the background and that's what they do so good for them all right so again I'm going to be skipping through uh CU I'm looking at high Lev stuff with you guys and you you can look at the details you're interested in um on your own time um we're going to go ahead and move off of this stream and we're going to go to the stream that was uh posted nine hours ago and then we're going to finish up um we're going to finish up part three of uh the agenda um okay let's check it out all right good evening everybody blackb okay sorry uh Ronnie said blackb was the Zone with uh that look like the previous map yes thank you so it's right by kenos and blackb was the um was the Zone was was the dungeon where they had the waterfall and there was water at the bottom and it connected you to um I think it was like the zone right before Hollis so yeah that that was that looked like it was heavily inspired by black uh blackb I think I was saying it right I think I was saying blackb so yeah okay it's funny because like it I know all this stuff about like EverQuest supposedly because I've been playing it since forever but like as far as like trivia I'm like the worst person for any of that ever Frost yep yeah you go through uh the kinos area and which I think is north corana um or west Carana and then you go into blackborow and then from blackb you go into everfrost and then finally you enter Halas on the raft thingy so yeah that's I know my stuff I'm just terrible at speaking it out like I'm one of those people where it's like I might know everything but then if you put me on the spot and you're like all right here's the mic and answer the question I'm just like uh uh um I don't know all right let's uh Jump Right In I don't know if you're watching the B you it could be whatever um I hope whenever it is uh you're having a good one thank you we're having a great twice all right so we are back by Night Harbor Ronnie says I know that feeling um when we were talking about the um forgetting stuff when you're on the spot yeah I love that they're using the classic EverQuest style of Elementals um I had somebody comment that say that basically said you know this game is a ripoff of EverQuest and um I strongly disagree I really don't even want to get into that conversation and I shouldn't give that I shouldn't give that Viewpoint any attention but I'll address it once and probably link this timestamp in the future so I don't ever have to talk about this again but essentially the way I look at it is very simple Monsters And Memories has its own Graphics NPCs zones names lore everything is different the music's different a direct ripoff if is when you take something that's exactly the same and then put your name on it and say this is mine inspiration is when you look at somebody that made a project that really inspired you and you want to make something similar to it for example somebody somewhere played Dungeons and Dragons tabletop in a basement and once computer technology started coming out they said to themselves wow this would look really cool in a video game where you can explore and walk around and that's where it came from so does that mean that video games like Elder Scrolls or um you know I'm just using that as an example is a ripoff of DnD no it's inspired by DND so is you know balers gate balers gate is technically based off of the DND system you know um Ronnie says uh in my opinion if that's the case it does not bother me at all a modern EQ with a great UI and engine hell yes copy most what EQ made and do it better I'm all in that's what I've that's exactly it this is what this is why I like that they say that we're making this game for us and our like group so to speak right um it's not going to be for everyone it's supposed to be a copycat of EverQuest to some degree even though I don't like saying that out loud that's what I want that's what most people want and that's what we've been asking for I I want to hearken back to the day days of EverQuest before plane of power not that there's anything wrong with plane of power in and by itself but that era when the world kind of shrunk and people were spending most of the time in New zones and Kellan was empty and you know kenos was empty and what I'm trying to say is bring us back to a time where it worked don't reinvent the wheel create basically another EverQuest in a different Universe sprinkle in the modern Unity engine and whatever else kind of goodies you have and don't make the same mistakes that Sony Entertainment did um in the latter years after every Quest release that's it and it seems like they were all on the same page on that we're actually going to watch a good video a little bit about that later so let me not spoil it I it's got to be just a a fair we're going to jump okay Nicodemus said there's 90 now so that I'm having this ash come down in front of the camera no matter what happens I'm G to have this so um we're going to keep going keep going um this is by the way um in night Harbor some of the new textures for the buildings so like this would be like old this is new Ronnie says I remember when it tried the uh last update 38 I felt like when I was new be EQ again it was a great feeling and I just want more so kudos to the Eminem devs I felt exactly the same way I agree with you 100% when I stepped into this world it transported me to another place like it felt familiar I felt at home and it was not just the graphics it was the gameplay it was the walking around talking to people asking for help discovering new things I've played every single MMO Under the Sun and I'm I'm telling you when I entered um this world for the first time during this very first stress test I played in November I literally felt like I was back in EverQuest it was yeah so I mean this setup looks so good now that um that we need to get it we need to get it out so this is the new the new textures that they're working on so it's already starting to look good so we're going to move on um again I'm going to include all the links here and it it's going to have like 10 days ago 8 days ago today um we're going to go ahead and move on to part four of this um news reel so to speak um this is going to be about how to access um updates and stuff like that so we're going to go back to uh this right here uh bear with me all right all right so part four how to access the latest updates social media [Music] Etc all right so let's let's go back here so I promis to this is we already read all this right here about who this team is who sea is if you click this link this will take you to the twitch I'll include the link in the description uh this is Ali Nick uh Nick is a twitch partner as well so you can check out his content right here he's got 16,000 followers so but as you can see he posted this video two years ago um but he had other guys have more modern videos so let me back up here so there's Harrison Harrison streams regularly on Twitch let me zoom in for you guys and we're going to move on past this topic pretty quick quickly but this is all going to be in the description so pad us the ranger um so as you can see he posted this 5 days ago I think yeah 5 days ago so he's actually building it um this is Connor or zukin zuken uh you've probably seen some of his YouTube videos of him doing the design work um on the official Monsters And Memories um YouTube channel um so he does all of like the uh the skins and everything like that oh yeah we haven't so yeah I highly highly highly recommend um checking out his content the um thumbnail that you see on this particular stream is concept or that I watched him make live and yeah he's he's actually an inspiration for me to get back into illustration and art and then I want to dabble into some 3D modeling um I I think it's really fun all right so we're going to use Keith as a way to segue into our next topic um and our next topic is who and what is monsters and memories in depth so we're going to go into that a little bit deeper um before we go on to Keith right here let me just highlight this um so here's Alexander um he also streams on Twitch um his last video was posted 22 days ago so I think he does some of the concept art oh this is so cool we were just talking about being inspired by the art so here you go oh man he's phenomenal I use Photoshop for texturing is yeah I'm I'm I'm super excited to go check this out later um so we looked at zuken we looked at him um so I think that's it so one one last thing before we move on I just want to do this contr F EverQuest notice how there's 11 references to EverQuest so for anyone wondering if this game is inspired by EverQuest the lead designer worked for EverQuest and was a lead designer for EverQuest William he didn't fully discover arquest until 2016 when he came across project 1999 and decided to delve into the world of old school MMOs Simon he once dared he was once dared at a party to try EverQuest 20 years later he spents most of his free time on level design and 3D modeling Patrick uh he eventually discovered muds and EverQuest which sparked his career Focus away from illustration and comics and into 3D virtual worlds Brandon a friend showed him EverQuest during beta and he was uh he has been hooked on MMOs ever since Brian um a gamer at heart Brant grew up playing role playing games and is largely inspired by Gaming worlds like those from EverQuest Ultima The Legend of Zelda series and final fantasies sorry I might as well finish the sentence Ivan extending to MMOs and their incredible sense of community with ultim online EverQuest a formative gaming experience of his teen years as well as many others so yeah clearly a lot of inspiration from EverQuest so we're going to move on this is um man mandre Farms um where's mandre Farms hold on mandre so this is Keith he's on Discord as Keith G he's a software engineer by trade specializing in Cloud technology in his free time he dabbles in game programming and music he also created mandre Farms a stream edit YouTube channel to Showcase Eminem twitch V uh vods and is AD is advocate of playable mandres he's a big EQ fan and also Die Hard um fighting gam player okay so the reason I'm going to share this with you guys is because all those live streams that we just saw previously on Twitch we going to a channel where he basically edits these videos down so they're more easil easily consumable okay um so I already queued some stuff up here for us oh wow look at this hold on hold on we were just listening to that music in the background but look at this image hold [Music] [Music] I love it all right moving on so um I already have this queued up so again this is just reiterating a couple of things and then we're going to watch the next part um allows us to stretch out the the content and the progression and the fuel progression and your ability to sort of navigate the environment and mitigate obstacles I'm hired I'm the right man for this job yes I've made it thank you Arch Mage no but we've got we've got a crew that's that's backgrounds is EQ and and in some folks case more maybe classic W or whatever but gets what our intent here it's really nice working with the team cuz I mean folks get it um and we we recognize the things that we liked about EQ and the other sort of early era of MMOs and and we're looking at how best to sort of take that forward without going the same path that other games sort of took it down right so you know this is kind of with regards to quality of life and and things of that so might be neat for some uh levitate abilities to keep you out of the water for for example but that's it water walking I mean we in theory we know what the water volume is so really quirky [ __ ] like that is definitely something that I'm hoping we get more in so that's the end of that video but um he's just reiterating I mean at the end of the day like everyone knows what we want they have the same wants and needs as what we've been secretly saying behind the scenes for 20 years Stu I wouldn't tell my wife like the fact that I uh you know she knows about my childhood about playing EverQuest but I mean it's just like she doesn't know realize how pressed I am 25 years later she knows I like it but she doesn't know that like I'm literally sitting at the edge of my seat waiting for a remake and that nothing else fills the Gap okay I'm not that pressed but you know what I mean it's it's a classic so um I'm going to leave this uh also in the link so this is going to be uh um so part four is going to have all the links to their [Music] um um social medias so I have all that there and then part five is who and what is monsters and memories and death so we watched the first video right here I recommend you watch the whole thing it's called former EverQuest designer response did quality of life systems kill the MMO RPG so it's very good discussion what we're about to get into right now is MMO design rare lowlevel items and how difficult should Most B so let's um get into that from scratch and this is a really good video and I recommend you sit on the edge of your seat and listen to every word all right Bill faster asks what are your thoughts on having strong items like that in relatively low lower midlevel power dungeons was that just a bad mix of dungeon item power glowing black stone is another one one that comes to mind I like having a tiny chance for a lower level player to lock into an expensive item as it helps create cool experience in stories and is like winning the lottery at that level um it's it's an interesting challenge right because if you make it super rare it'll still get camped right like if it's say this this has a chance of you know it's a x% chance of dropping off of a NPC that's you know uh a placeholder and it spawns once every 4 hours or 8 hours or 5 days or seven days right like you guys have seen that before um and so you know people will still do it and they'll be like God this Camp is horrific right um in theory we could have something that could spawn off of anything in the world at a very very low percentage chance and you know that then you you get you get your ring of power the idea of putting something in there that's not that hard to Camp you know not that super rare but it's in a lower level Zone uh then it really becomes a question of does it become a thing that the lower level actually gets an opportunity to experience or is it always camped by higher levels and if it is always camped mostly Camp by higher levels um is that still okay because then there's that one time where it's not camped by higher levels and the lower level people get it right and it's like o fancy so so Ronnie I hear you you said totally agree with you uh that's how it is for me only want a a new version of EQ to play all other games are not for me it's kind of like feeling a bit empty inside in some sort no I agree with you 100% it's um nothing has been able to replace that feeling so World of Warcraft did it for me in the very beginning and I'll explain why um I played Warcraft 1 2 3 in the 9s along with you know quake and Commander Keane I mean that's like the early 90s um that was on Doss but played all those games I played Starcraft Starcraft 2 later on um balers gate one balers gate 2 never winter nights and when I played Warcraft 1 and two like it was cool I mean it was the best RTS ever in my opinion and when they they basically announced that they T I saw the Cinematic for World of Warcraft and I was like my mind was blown I'm like I'm finally going to be able to play a night Elf or even though night elves weren't a big part of Warcraft 1 and two they were more like Warcraft 3 but the Orcs you know what I mean the humans you know it's like you're going to be able to zoom in and play as one of them instead of commanding an army you're going to be as like your own character and it was a really cool experience when World of Warcraft U first came out but then of course just like all the other MMOs things changed you know but it still wasn't EverQuest it didn't compare at all to what EverQuest was because EverQuest is not a linear game it's not a theme par game I remember when I was 13 I was at my friend Omar's house um um and I I was looking over his shoulder I was like what is this like a three-dimensional game what is that and he's like oh it's a game called EverQuest and I remember when I first jumped on I I was in Greater Fae dark and I couldn't see anything in front of me it was like pitch dark and it it was it was a surreal experience because especially back then the technology was just starting to show off the capabilities of computers of 3D graphics and of this new thing called the internet where we had like uh MRC channels where you chat or AOL where you chat and then it took that and combined it with the 3D Graphics say that you'd seen Quake or something like that or halflife and you and you also you'd think of all your Lord of the Rings books that you used to read as a kid or Chronicles of Narnia or the other fantasy books with more of an adult theme or you grew up thinking about stuff like um like uh uh the Knights of the Round Table and Camelot and Merlin or Dungeons and Dragons tabletop and all of a sudden you're like I'm in the world and that and I was like is that a real person like I saw another person running it's like yeah that's another person and it just it blew my mind so yes there's that side of the Nostalgia but even after that specific unique feeling of like um this is my first time faded there was something else about every Quest too where it's almost like your imagination would fill in the blanks or fill in the missing pixels of um maybe even graphical Fidelity to this day when I play it even though the graphics are 25 years old and very aged it still looks beautiful to me you know I still can sit there on the boat from fade were to antonica going from you know Butcher Block mountains to um Freeport and enjoy my trip on the boat and take screenshots of myself as the center setting like what other game would you do that in so anywh who I like uh let's let me digress from that topic and um mention what he was just talking about so he's talking about like um so so he mentioned something about like the um uh the the lowlevel drops and I 100% there's two things I want to say about this number one we should 100% have like unique drops that you can find on low-level mobs obviously um they're already thinking about future proofing the problem of well what if people just start camping low-level mobs that are higher levels and they're trying to find ways of combating that um I would also say um I don't like level caps on items so like I don't like the idea of like a really nice sword only usable by level 20 I think twinking is a very cool aspect of EverQuest in replayability the fact that you can work your way up and become very powerful and then you can start a new life as an alt and because of your past success it's almost like you're passing down your like Heritage right your your um what do you call it um when when a person um inheritance yeah your it's like your you're passing on your inheritance you get to level 60 you've defeated all the bosses or not all of them but you've had this Mighty Adventure you've made a name for yourself you're in a guild and then you decide to make an alt and because you work so hard you're able to twink your low level character there's not I don't think there's anything wrong with that and I think that actually adds another layer of the gameplay so my only ask for the developers and if they have a good reason of why this is not a good um way of thinking please feel free to correct me but um that's another thing about every Quest that I really liked and I didn't like that about other MMOs is that you couldn't use this sword unless you're at level 20 now I still think we should have no drop items and lore items obviously but having a level cap and saying you cannot use this item until you're level 30 um I just don't like that now I understand if the if the sword procs a spell and it does massive amounts of damage yeah maybe you can like Nerf that a bit and just balance it in the way Everest one does and what they do is you know you can't use that proc until Level 45 right that is fine but just blatantly saying you can't use this sword or any of these weapons until you're a certain level it just kind of disappoints so again I don't know if that's what they plan on doing here he wasn't even talking about that but that's just my feedback on the topic of items Ronnie says uh oh yeah I was dying on my newbie troll Warrior to frogs outside of troll town running for my life to guards only to be killed right in front of them that's hilarious yeah that last minute death is always um the best when you're running away and you're you're like at 3 HP and you see the guards you see freedom and then the screen changes to the top down screen and then you just see the the frogs hitting you for the last time when the guards are literally right there uh Ronnie also said um having to run back to get my corpse and not being able to find it loving uh people who was there and saw my corpse and help yeah the the people the community other people reaching out I remember same thing happened to me I didn't know how to find my corpse somebody told me how to do slash corpse and they would drag the corpse to me completely remember that Ronnie also said yep agree twinking is nice thing or that you can help your friend Advance faster 100% yep I like that's exactly what I like doing I have a friend John who I the way I met him was I think he was looking for like Crush bone belts so not only did I sell him Crush bone belts but then I was like level 35 and I was visiting Kellan after buying some spells and I just wanted to visit my hometown and I ran into John and I was like I just wanted to give him something I wanted to find someone um to help and I just started giving them a bunch of stuff and bunch of this um and we became like best friends and we would not only did become like very good friends in the game but we became friends in real life my my my wife obviously teases me for it but not really even she's like intrigued she's like do you talk to this person outside of uh ever I'm like yep so it's really cool how you make those connections um in these MMOs in in EverQuest really Ronnie also said I remember giving fine Steel weapons to nbes yep so they get ahead a bit faster R yeah 100% um even something as simple as that is so impactful at low levels um and they they kind of you make a name for yourself of being that person that helps or sits at uh the noob lift or the Pod lift and Buffs other players like that's the type of gameplay that I do that's why I do a druid typically I I think the idea of um them existing and it just being a little bit you know lengthier of a camp right um isn't isn't necessarily a bad one at all I I think to your more specific question though why did it end up that way in the beginning I I was talking about that with someone earlier today actually um um offline and well not in here um and uh the the thing I think that happened with some of those you know items like Mana stones and things like that was one they didn't really have a super centralized like itemization person that was controlling these things and vetting them um at least not when I got on the team so if they had one before that person wasn't there by the time I got on um and then the other thing was no one really realized that the game would live for more than a year or two and so with that in mind um wacky wacky stuff was done warlock I said RuneScape 3 has that with the item if you have tier four luck everything you do has a chance to drop the super luck ring from Skilling to killing yeah there's some we'll probably play around with some wackier ideas there and see um see what winds up happening the so the goal is to make a place first and foremost most right like I'm not I don't want to undersell the challenge of it right that it's not I'm not saying that it's easy to do the following but I would say it's a bit easier to make a game with um [ __ ] to kill with things that make your numbers go up right like hey made a game and it's got things that you kill and you your numbers go up experience goes up you get items or whatever it's another thing to really make a make a place that has a uh atmosphere that just feels like welcoming when we work on this since day one like I've wanted to make a world that I want to hang out in right um because yes there will be the the the number yeah so I got to chime in because listen to what this man is saying he wanted to make a world that he could just hang out in right and that's exactly how I feel like look at the aesthetic of just what you're seeing right here the Sky Box the clouds the Stars the gentle illumination of that city right there which by the way reminds me of like quest for Glory um sands of time I think or whatever it's called um you could just sit there and chat with a friend and listen to the ambience of the music that's from that City and listen to the crickets chirping and be programming on another monitor or watching a movie or um getting some work done you know you don't necessarily you have to be completely tuned in and sweaty right trying to raid every 5 seconds I I 100% agree with his mindset and approach to this and I have a lot in common with him when it comes to this what he's talking about right now um Ronnie said when he says that I'm thinking of e thinking of East Commons tunnel where the trading on most servers was um there was not meant from uh from the team to happen it just did naturally which made it even better exactly it's like the players made their own um yeah it was organic that's the word I was looking for number Chase and the server first and all of the yes there will be the the the number Chase and the server first and all of these sort of kind of competitive player Focus there'll be the things for you to do and and kind of show your your Clouts and all of that but for me as someone that plays a shitload of vaults even if I so when when I think I was talking about in the beginning of the stream but when I saw this Lighting in the in the distance it made me made me want to explore it and see what what's that over there right this is and I love how the Beetles are illuminated it's it's all really cool what he's saying right now is also important because he's saying look there's you're going to see all the rating stuff you're going to see all the the core stuff that modernos have but it's not to make that the focus not like oh when does the end game begin This is the End Game level one is endgame material because it's the end game the middle game the beginning game it's the adventure and the journey from beginning to end and the journey doesn't end because then you just make an alt and the journey becomes comes brand new again you know um I had one like max level uh tune that's doing you know some of the more Leading Edge stuff I got the feeling that bulk of my time would probably be on alts and it would be nice to just make this world where I enjoy making new characters and hanging out and Yeah doing the kind of stuff that I do which is like like simple camps camping for you know doing grueling camps for rare items interacting with people you know it's just that's that's that's first and foremost like can we nail the atmosphere uh having an ALT problem is fantastic news for us we love people that love Al so one of the things that I've got to do as well is the feedback that we've gotten is uh it's just right now um the the camps that are here are just set up they're too easy they are set up with the idea of you know not requiring CC especially if timing was right and they're they're fairly low density population but I can look at um I can look at NPC placement I can look at some more rors I went ahead and put in a few rors but once you know once you're going it's not that big a deal but like this is yeah the what the idea of rors is something that I really like about EverQuest is that you can be doing a low-level camp and then like a a sand giant just you hear him in the distance with his stomping sound effects and it makes you like on edge because you're like oh oh crap is he close by or you know he's close by when you hear the Stomps go from do and it changes to it's like oh crap I just aggroed the sand giant oh man so many good memories what at most two that you got to deal with when this guy's not patrolling that type of stuff that's what's missing for modern MMOs used to be about building an immersive world not yeah Ronnie says Hill Giants and sand gies hell yeah running between Quest hubs I think some of that was also incidental right it was the because systems were not as welld designed yet uh we have this discussion we've had this discussion this week in um you know in in so with some of the friends and family and stuff I it's a very tricky line there's a very tricky line when it comes to designing something well you know utilizing all the lessons of uh I guess good design and air quotes over the last 20 years but also retaining some of the mystery and Challenge and other [ __ ] right because it's you know it gets into some of the feedback where if it's and if you if you give a little bit then you create an expectation of even even more clarity right and so it's a tell me how to find the thing for the quest right and and this is a area where I think my views are maybe you know they're potenti naturally they're potentially wrong um I can be a bit controver veral and sort of like the degree to which I take my views on this but it's um it's like if the first Quest you get like if you're your starter note is a newbie is essentially saying hey find so and so they're going to be in this District which you can find in this part of town look for this building etc etc well basically the the only challenge is the walk at that point you don't have to figure [ __ ] out you just need to walk there um and so it's like okay well maybe that's acceptable for your starter note and then we we put in some stuff yeah it's an Aon not a quest belf faster I love that so much I've been trying to figure out because I I I've been saying it's a task not a quest right but like an errand I I like that word even better when we start you know and then when we start sort of spelling things out there's the expectation that they're spelled out and it's like oh this wasn't intuitive or this wasn't wasn't very clear well yeah but if it was very clear then what's the challenge especially if you match that against like hey you're sending me to fight a thing and I couldn't kill it yet what gives well get more powerful and then kill it like I went up and I you know I handed the guy the thing and then he turned around and he punched me in the face okay well but this is a starter Quest why am I getting punched in the face and sorry um when I was doing you can check my stream on this um I think it was the second video I made on this YouTube channel ever um I was doing the monsters and memory um a stress test and which by the way what prompted me to make this entire YouTube channel is monsters and memories I literally stumbled on this project and I mean I think I saw like one video on it two videos on it like from like a year ago and I was like wo that's going to be awesome I never expected there to be a stress test and for me to be able to join I didn't even know how to stream or record and I just figured fig fig figured it out and used uh the recording software that came with Windows and I just hit record and I jumped in the world and I was trying to figure out how to do the um mind you this is only like a month or two ago so since then I've evolved to a 4k camera um a dynamic microphone which I had to return because it stopped working so that's why I'm using this boom mic um second screen so I can view the the you know OBS and stuff like that but the point of all that is to say when I hit record I recorded my quest experience of the level one Druid and I ran into that same experience where I completed the quest got the tunic came back to aadia um aadia something and she was like come back when you're stronger I was like oh okay I see you all right matter of fact I I will be stronger what and then I came back when I reached level three and she was like nope come back when you're stronger I was like oh dang it's like that all right so I like that what he's saying about creating more Challenge and more it it it's like hey use that gray matter between your ears I like that that's what a quest is supposed to be not uh oh there there's uh there's a exclamation mark got to go find it oh Follow The Yellow Brick Road look on the map teleport fast travel turn in complete be an Aaron boy it's like dude I'm already an Aaron boy at my job sometimes I don't want to be an Aon boy at I don't I don't want to get off work and log into a game just to get to work again so I can get some imaginary achievement and and then just have like imaginary clout with imaginary virtual people um and that kick me out of a group if I'm not powerful enough to support them in their Dungeon Crawl like I'm sorry I'm not about that life call me a fake gamer but yeah if if that's what it takes to be a gamer in 2024 I guess I'm not a gamer like I I the point of a video game I thought was to chill um Ronnie said same here looking for new stuff while waiting for Pantheon um if it ever comes out I hope as I pledge to the project but then someone in the video posted the name monsters memories yeah and just just I want to be clear on my stance to any of viers Pantheon rise of the fall and I've followed them since 2014 I support their project I've never uh doubted them or said negative things about them even when they made mistakes and gone in the wrong direction um because I know the entire context of where they came from and how they got to the point they are today um I've always been the type of person of why would I be negative I'm going to support the indie project and spread positivity and kindness instead of negativity and trolling right the logic behind that is would I want that same treatment at work if I make a mistake at work should I just be fired immediately should I not receive a little bit of correction guidance and pushed in the right direction wouldn't positivity go a lot further um to build me up and improve me as an employee versus the latter of just saying 10 Years bro 10 years huh well this I'll be I'll be in a in a senior living facility by the time Pantheon comes out it's like yet you're still following it you're still sitting there at a keyboard showing up to every single video and posting trolling comments that says a lot more about you talking about that person not not you Ronnie um like think the the I'm talking about the trolls spending time out of their day to find Pantheon videos so they can post negative comments and then go make um videos about Pantheon is a scam in their free time when they don't even realize like how the project started what happened with Brad McQuade then Co happened then they had to basically start the whole development process over and actually I'm going to say it like this I have no patience for those people and if people come to my channel and just start being negative whether it's about monsters and memories uh Pantheon rise of the Fallen here's the beauty a beautiful part about it is a I'll delete the comment and B I'll block the person because because the beauty of having your own YouTube channel is I control the narrative hate it love it um it's like it's my platform and I get to choose what I allow on it and I will never allow negativity constructive uh criticism yes but not negativity um and I apologize for going off on a tangent Ronnie it just you made me think of Pantheon and what some of the comments I've been seeing lately and it's just like just uh let them try to come on my channel and start doing that stuff because you know it's it's not going to happen you know but anyways we're not talk about Pantheon on this stream so I apologize for deviating but yeah when I found out about monsters and memories it was it was like oh my gosh I have another classic MMO to look forward to so um yeah and I couldn't even beat him he's level two I'm level one right okay well come back I went up and I you know I handed the guy this thing and then he turned around and he punched me in the face okay well but this is a starter Quest why am I getting punched in the face and I couldn't even beat him he's level two I'm level one right okay well come back with you know uh one of our people did the right thing brought somebody else with him and smacked the you know beat the guy and then looted the item that he needed perfect that's the you know and so there's there's a bit of this like when I was first looking at the quest there's a lot of different things things that I was playing with it was like can I create something where people actually do kind of feel like they need to to ask right like hey guys I I haven't figured this out or you know there's there's uh oh my gosh I can't do this yet well but it's not like it's you were sent on a a quest to defeat a level 20 you're level one you got told to defeat a level oh Ronnie sorry I I didn't read your other comment um but yeah uh I was hooked from that time it even made Pantheon fade for me uh yeah no I agree with you I mean um my excitement for Pantheon diminished once I uh found monsters and memories cuz I especially after I played it because you know it felt exactly like what I was looking for yeah because I had another M MMO to look forward to 100% agree with you so I was very grateful when I found out about monsters of memories too because that was the same feeling I had as like oh I don't have to put all my eggs in one basket well two right that type of stuff I don't know that there's a great answer I could be dated in my thinking on this but I do think the more that it turns into like a if you're someone that likes to figure stuff out you you can figure it out it's feasible it's not like that crazy but then if you're someone that doesn't like to figure things out you you really won't get it instantly I think there's value to that because all right ask somebody that likes to figure things out that's the social part of the game the social part of the game is not just forced grouping through difficulty right so that's the kind of you know that's that's the thought on some of this and then other stuff is you know if if you come in and and the the second the second you kind of peak over the hurdle of certain challenges that it's behind you John said there's a really fine line between handholding and not enough info tough to figure out where that line is it's it's really tough I would say that I my tendency my belief is for the time being is to air on the side of not enough info in in a sense right air on the side of people may be perceiving it and going oh this isn't ideal or this isn't good or I don't like this yeah I agree and kind of work carefully from there because a lot of stuff becomes like a slippery slope a difficulty is often seen as barrier to entry I mean this this I love this right here I during during the play test I spent like two hours just fishing standing right where he's at right now and watching the boats go back and forth and watching the sun rise and and and Set uh freaking marvelous and look look at the clouds and The Faded over there of that Dome over there um ah just so phenomenal so peaceful you know what I mean it's just I can watch this and be like man this is really chill I probably need to chill a little bit I got worked up a moment ago I apologize for that guys I'm sorry but this is really cool and what he's saying is really cool too because he's saying less is more and he wants to balance in the area of questing where um not giving too much information and allowing us to think for ourselves and I am fully confident that it's going to work it's just that we've been trained um um uh that it's not liked by The Gaming Community but keep in mind that's what people on the internet are saying that's not how people truly feel just because a small minority says something on a review doesn't mean that's how the vast majority thinks and that's how the world is nowadays there's a lot of people that are really really loud and good at being loud behind keyboards armchair you know um Warriors or key board Warriors but they're the minority and most people don't agree with what those people have to say so just because one person on Reddit says it doesn't mean that's how we feel so I agree with what he's saying and stick to your guns on the less is more part let us figure it out let make me go into chat and ask other people hey why is the Druid um Guild Master not letting me um complete the quest make me interact I want to I want to send Ronnie a tell and be like yo Ronnie I'm working on this Quest I'm stuck can you help me and he like oh yeah I've done that Quest before let's go do it together boom classic EverQuest experience Tree in quotes by those who worry about cash and that's so don't get us wrong we we want as many people to play this game as um as we can without compromising what we think the game should be and thus acknowledging that as many people may not be a ton of people right I would correct your statement Nicodemus Nicodemus said I think the intentional difficulty of EQ was the reason MMOs became so popular look at Dark Souls success I think the unintentional difficulty of EQ is what got people going and then in order to appeal to a broader broader look at that water look at the way it fades and changes color it's just this is so phenomenal hold on let me get off the screen group of people then we removed more and more of those barriers to entry and and thus the difficulty but then the difficulty was added back in at the highend OR at uh higher skill level stages right so it became mechanic more mechanical difficulty more specific sort of game knowledge as it relates to encounters or the in particular raid raids right and so we were doing that while I was on EQ you know intentionally looking at how do we make certain things easier so they're more accessible and then um making other other things even more difficult than ever right um um by the way Ronnie yeah um I see your comment about the uh fishing he said my brother is 100% Going to fish right there for hours he loves trade skills yep it's awesome us adding a graveyard and it's funny because the fact that they already have trade skills in the game and already have swimming in the game and there's mainstream Games built by uh huge development Studios that uh still to this day don't have swimming in them you that's insane like massive games made by developers that are billion dooll companies and you don't you can't get swimming done and they already have water that looks phenomenal that you already can swim and you can fish like I leveled up my fishing trade skill to like I think 20 or something like that while I was playing yard into pop was actually so that we could make the raids even more difficult without adding a graveyard into pop was actually so that we could make the raids even more difficult without their necessarily being the challenge of corpse recovery after a certain period for certain things basor said that would be a fun Quest they send you to go deal with someone with a bounty reward when you roll up on this guy he had three MPCs who are also there to collect said Bounty and he promptly destroys all three while you watch Quest over you go back and Report what you saw it's funny to think uh someone would send a butt naked washed up newbie to go kill badass which makes it funny uh to come back and be like you send me wrong guy I'm not ready for that or they they leave as Corpse and then you sneak up after they leave and you loot something off of it with a mud inspired game you can always have the option to put more items into chat text can be a bit spammy by having two windows um like you do can help we're going to work U there's a lot of stuff with like interactions and stuff going on in Tech so when we redo the UI we'll really be thinking about the best way to tackle that and we've already agreed as a team to also then put in the like Morin style uh record of interactions that you've had yeah so I like that when I was doing the quest and I hailed the person and they said um your journey as a druid begins and then there's a bracket I was like oh cool just like an EverQuest and I said what Journey right um and then I went to do the quest and I had it written down on a piece of paper Just Like Old School EverQuest however I hit the J key on the keyboard and then my journal popped up and it had the dialogue saved with that NPC and it was organized by name so I can click on the guildmaster and it had just a dialogue it didn't explain the quest to me but it said the dialogue so the second part of the dialogue script was after I prompted the hail said what Journey I'm making that up he answered my question handed me the item or whatever and sent me on my question Quest and I could open the journal by hitting J just like in like the mor one style like you said and I can read where we left off in our dialogue so I would remember later on which part of the quest I'm on that is a great approach it makes you think it makes you engaged it doesn't give away the answer and it's almost like a puzzle like I'm telling you these guys are geniuses they know exactly like I I didn't even think about that you know what I mean but I mean he's a DE Vel ER he knows what he's doing and so does the rest of the team I just they this team is just I mean they're brilliant that's why I keep saying like take my money but they won't Ronnie said at 100% uh come and help it makes you feel good to be needed oh you're talking about the quest uh it feels good to be needed and also when you need to help others would help I I thought that way you would build friendships and maybe even join same guilds and stuff uh Ronnie said yep I love that they have a journey in this game this is definitely an upgrade yeah this is an upgrade from EQ and yeah I that was when I played the test I I was like this is better than EverQuest that's that might be controversial but when I played I was like this once this is fleshed out this is barn on better than EverQuest and I I'm sticking to my guns and you can have your opinion you know whoever's watching but this is my opinion when I played it even in it's the state and infancy that I was in I felt like this was better than EverQuest because I imagined once the world is fleshed out once the lore is there once the story is there once it's just better why why not I mean if I can stand there for an hour and just fish and stare at the sunset talking to my friend in a game chat in between a quest and and killing mobs I'm like isn't that whatever request was so we'll be playing with those things as well John says difficulty helps create social interaction social interaction should be both positive and negative with a heavy weight towards positive yes if it's all happy and positive there's less sense of Triumph in memory yep I th% agree uh angel said barriers to entry um uh essentially anything that may lead to a potential customer churning at some point in the funnel um prior to getting to the point where they are converted so that you've got solid retention of them to maximize their LTV or at least getting a decent return on ad spend or getting a Raz or getting um you know a decent uh looking at the average revenue per user or I mean it's just yeah so barriers entury or essentially what what are where are all the points where somebody may decide no longer to play the game uh Melia said uh Mand yeah so there therefore forward thinking about how do we retain customers as well because at the end of the day you're making a game that you want to play and a world that you want to be in but also this is a product and something that needs to be sold and marketed and what what he they're asking the questions from a marketing perspective is like what causes retention what causes people to go away from a project come back to a project um you know and and and you can ask that question in just in a broad term it's like what could be use other MMOs as an example do people only come back to it because of the microtransactions and the fake um achievements but never really talk to other people or is it similar to something like EverQuest where 25 years later there's people there's 2,000 players playing on a single server um of a game that's Locked In Time 25 years ago because they would rather have that old school interaction right so if 2,000 players on a on a emulated server do that imagine taking that game into the future with a oneclick install client like this game and unleashing it to the masses I mean and I genuinely hope that some people don't like it and don't play it because why would you play something you don't like and bring other people this goes back to negativity I I want everyone to play this game but I don't want everyone to stay if they don't like it right because it's not going to be for people not for everyone I mean some people come on let's logic Common Sense some people just like firstperson Shooters it's the same logic right you're not going to go play balers grade 3 if you're into modern mod Warfare 3 or two you know Ron uh Ronnie said I'm meant to Quest Journal where you can get an overview of all the NPCs you have spoken to sorry for my bad English it is not my uh mother language nope your English is great the exact talk we have English is not my first language but I have a heads up because I moved to this country when I was like four years old have an e-commerce web dev I mean it's the talk that we had have in in most modern gaming companies and stuff as well for us um we're taking a a kind of a simplified approach on it um and we're like I said we're probably you know people could say you we're shooting ourselves in the foot with some of the stuff or whatever but right there are decisions that that you can make that ZW says the best form of advertisement is Word of Mouth that is why Eminem wants people to get the word out yeah absolutely you just just I don't know you just make them and and you go with it if you if you're not looking to like get all the customers uh the last company I worked at in Sweden was a uh made a MMO that actually is kind of a it was a it's a little more difficult MMO in in many senses and it's it's older feeling it's a PC based online Horse Adventure game for girls it's a massively multiplayer game um it's very Niche has a very specific audience if you look at our data it's very very specific even by country right like I we could look at a country and tell you the average like the average age of the girls playing in Germany about a year to two years higher than um uh you know the core average like us um Sweden it's a bit younger right um but they're still installing a old school style MMO on a laptop you know usually a hand-me-down or a PC um very limited to no support for Mac but we still had um folks doing it um and and yeah you pay a subscription or you buy a lifetime you know it's just like a lot of the things that are considered barriers to entry uh in more recent years and still hundreds and hundreds of thousands of girls playing it and paying solid Cash live from T tunland said I'm found with difficult raid Mechanics for example or figuring out dungeon poles but sometimes the experience grind which is too exhausting to stay with yeah but I will say the experience grind for a lot of people like me it's just so simple it's just effort right and so I don't mind an experience grind as much because I just I get to a good spot or I get in a good group or whatever and I'm I'll watch TV on the other monitor right I'll watch a podcast I'll chat with the group yep and it gives me something consistent that I can do in a world where I can be come in reli Rel I'm not stressed out I just it's meditation man it's like open that beer sit down especially if you're playing if you're not the one pulling drink your beer or your coffee or what or your coffee or in this case um your bang energy drink I think you know not that I'm trying to do this but if I accidentally get too many subscribers because I wasn't I didn't expect to have like 130 or whatever ever I have right now um if I accidentally get subscribers then bang better sponsor me for all the bangs I'd be drinking but yeah I'm I'm doing this for documentation purposes I'm not trying to uh get any kind of notoriety on YouTube um to be honest I probably wouldn't even want that because that just means there's going to be good people and bad people but um I'm going to take this moment to actually say every single P I'm shocked I'm blown away I'm like the amount of cool people that have come to my YouTube channel that I literally just made two months ago and have been commenting and saying cool stuff and vibing and just agreeing and being like chill like man oh man thank you so much um because I do this super late after work and after kids and after wife and after responsibilities and the fact that somebody even one person is watching like why like what I I have nothing interesting to say but I digress and wanted to say thank you because I think it's really cool to have our little Community here where we can like look at this stuff together and enjoy it so um that's all thank you that's whatever bo boo talk some [ __ ] watch some shows yeah it's cathartic it's it's you know it's not in many cases it's not much different than coming coming home and plopping down on the sofa for a few hours not the one pulling drink your beer or your coffee or whatever bo bo boo talk some [ __ ] watch some shows yeah it's cathartic it's it's you know it's not in many cases it's not much different than coming coming home and plopping down on the sofa for a few hours which when a lot of people are like oh man I've I've gotten older and you know or the audience is older they don't have the time to play like they used to like that may be the case in in in in some cases but I'd say like Netflix and and TV viewing data says maybe that's not true right like there are a lot of people that come home and they'll watch TV for three hours a night [ __ ] there people to come home and watch TV for 5 hours a night right get off work at 6 I'm not as I'm not as worried when when folks kind of throw that point back up um what I'm more worried about is like I'll be honest I and I'm not speaking for everybody on the team naturally we've got uh people on the team that you know at least one person that's very active Raider I would say at least two people that are you know active Raiders play a [ __ ] [ __ ] ton of you know MMOs our our team plays you everybody uh has a different background but there is a lot of commonality in terms of MMO experience um and there's nothing wrong with that you know I've I never raided an EverQuest in my other video I said I actually never slayed a dragon like not one of the boss dragons and I'm okay it all that means is that there's an additional chapter of EverQuest I haven't unlocked for myself yet after 25 years and there's other people that all they want to do is get to endgame and raid and that's cool but give us the ability to do either or I mean uh give us the ability to do both and that's what they're forward thinking that's what they're doing with this project that's awesome I don't want the pressure of playing in a high performance group like I I'd rather I'd rather just camp in like a a pretty chill group and like that's my that's my evening time right like if I had more time I would be doing it I'd just be camping shooting the [ __ ] you know looking looking for some other folks every once in a while we need to fill a gap in in enjoying playing it's relaxing I come in you know I come into an environment like this to kind of get away from things ex says I love how different people played e uh EQ um then the designer saw the zackin interview where it's saying it was meant for uh players to Dungeon Crawl like an actual TT scenario concept of pulling camps Not By Design just people thinking better safer more efficient way yeah and and I feel like I feel like that is an actual style of gameplay that's been missed for a long time you know running dungeons to me is less fun than camping you know maybe getting to the camp or breaking the camp is great but then camping I love it yeah stake MCC said if the experienced grind is as bad as EQ there definitely needs to be other obvious modes of progression that you can make inside of uh game session holy hell is the first few levels of EQ quitting point because it's so slow sorry I was talking to the mute but no like see it's Commons like that holy hell um here holy hell it's the first few levels of EQ a quitting point because holy hell the first few levels of EQ quitting point no I mean for you yes because that's your opinion but no I mean it's it might be for some but this goes back to the thing where it's like these opinions are that's that's an important opinion but we're not going to change the doctrine of the game over one opinion and that's what so many other video games have done they like oh oh this one person didn't like the first five levels let's make it easier get out of here dude somebody quits because they can't get to level five then they were definitely not meant for a corpse run tell you that much so slow um I'm less actually that that should be what they do they should make the first five levels super hard so it's almost like a tutorial where if the game's not for you you can figure it out quickly and bominos I mean I could definitely see where that might be a concern in later later levels but yeah like level 35 in Everest hell level yeah that that was brutal but I found a way to have fun in it you know and a lot of other people they didn't like it and I can see why that's a good point right there those hell levels they they get hellish you know but it also makes you kind of slow down Midway and kind of do some thinking about what you're going to do next instead of just cramming through the levels so to be honest like I've never thought of it from that perspective but it's almost like could be by Design yeah level 35 is a hell level but it also gives you time to reflect on your journey maybe stop grinding for a bit go visit your hometown like I do buff some noobs hand out some free gear meet some new people power level a friend go start a trade skill you know maybe trade skills in Monsters And Memories will let you get some kind of experience right I'm just saying the crafting and you can work through a hell level by a combination of um doing the grind but also maybe doing a new trade skill or something like that so it's it's important to have this fluctuation as you level and that that was pretty cool like I would Breeze through level five through 10 and then it would like slow down to like level 18 and then if like those last two levels kind of breeed by to 20 I got my last name and I was excited and then after that I kind of paused I just enjoyed level 20 I enjoyed my new spells enjoyed my new last name and you know and then I would Breeze through to 25 and then to 30 but then I would pause again you know so it's like again it's all subjective it's all opinion based and I could be wrong you could be wrong we could be wrong there is no right or wrong I think it's it's a matter of letting the developers do what feels right for the universe they're creating because nobody has a better Vantage Point than they do since this is their creation they should take feedback in other areas of the game not so much on oh this leveling is too fast or too slow to me because that's such a subjective topic I think in early levels it's it's been less of a factor so far I know it's come up a thousand 10,000 times what's the stance on instancing probably not in favor of it Shaka said yeah so we're going without instancing though it was interesting we had somebody provide feedback and and sort of like argue some different points in friends and family the other night and was like uh because somebody mentioned that like a level 20 was running around killing everything in worms ban and it was a little disruptive and then um the person was like well yeah that you know uh the better design is to like do trivial Lo code and stuff like that so that um they weren't they won't kill everything and then the counter point was well um yeah it may not matter because the person may just be killing [ __ ] to be lame or they're bored and then another person or then the the same person said yeah um well that's the problem like if you give an opportunity to people to be lame they're going to be lame and they're going to go in and disrupt stuff like that which my point was well for us if someone's being lame like that um you know we've got got a small enough community and as the community scales we're supporting customer service well enough then they can just say hey come check this out this person is being disruptive and then we'll get rid of them or we'll put them in jail for a little bit um and any argument that goes beyond that starts to get into the point of well that's how instancing happened right because if you start to go like all right but if you're too high level for the zone you can't even engage them on s and not only do you not get experience you don't get loot now you can't engage them and blah blah blah blah blah it's like all right well once you start attacking on that many like layers of protection to keep people from being [ __ ] that is a one of many factors that went into US adding instancing to EQ back in the day and we're not doing it here been checking out Dragon flight all right so um ZW said High experience Quest should be you helping a low-level player beat a boss or help them complete a quest it is all about design based on being a community that is a good point ZW just made a very good suggestion Sean if you're listening so in the context of progression and leveling up I'm going to read that comment again ZW said High experience quests should be you helping a lowlevel player beat a boss or help them complete a quest it is all about design based on being a community that is a very good that's a great idea that's super cool Ronnie said Thank God Sean no instancing yeah no instancing indeed and nobody ever talks in dungeons ask questions on a word I had I had um I had a really great experience in while up until probably rra of Lich King and it became more and more of a if you're not hitting a certain DPS and you need to get you know GTFO and I became more and more kind of like oh you know on one hand I was really I want to I want to be the dude that doesn't get [ __ ] talked and kicked out of the group but it it started chipping away on the more and more I just was like uh then I was raiding with a bunch of people that like yeah I don't want to be in in high school anymore where if I don't get picked on the Kickball team because I'm not the sportiest person right and that's essentially what wow became it's like oh your DPS is weak uh we're going to kick you out the group it's like really you're you're you're DPS shaming me like get out of here dude it's not that serious it's a freaking video game it's not like no sorry that's way too sweaty and if if somebody's into that and they want to be competitive and that's awesome like Kudos I mean that's wonderful to each Z not for me though I mean I can get very competitive and sweaty too and it's okay sometimes but in an MMO and Adventure role playing MMO where I'm role playing as a Wood Elf drud adventuring through the land of norath yeah dude I'm not trying to be all weird and sweaty different EQ developers from uh or sorry Sony developers going on raids with a lot of them and it was becoming more and more of a you know don't step in this and oh do that but I was just like you know I just want to chill out on my laptop and watch some TV and yeah and so it just it's weird because it just kind of petered out for me but I also think part of that was I got super bogged down in DC Universe Online development and and then just didn't have time to do anything other than uh be miserable uh Crunch and try to get some time at home Nicodemus said I think if you have a variety of player experiences some high octane pain activities and some chill activities you should cover all types of players some people get off work and just want to chill mentally raise their high stress yeah I think it's inevitable that we have a range of activities the one thing that we shouldn't do this time around you know my firm recommendation is uh we shouldn't start putting all of our B all of our eggs in the Leading Edge basket and spending all of our time and resources trying to retain people that are always going to burn through everything destroy everything conquer everything and oh what's more give me more give me more more challenge okay make an ALT make an ALT or go play some other games for a while and come back when there's new [ __ ] I I feel like we dropped the ball on on EQ uh when we started really just being too focused on um our highend and it's that idea like you can't lose any players right and if you lose the the high-end players they're the most vocal right they're going to they're going to get on the front page of their their their website their Guild website or they're G to get they're going to get in their forum and talk [ __ ] about I've killed everything the game's over yeah and you see he brings up a good point it's like the the 1% of players that plays 247 Burns through all the content has six level 60 characters that you know and and they need everything to be perfect and they go on every single raid and d d and it's like oh uh just because they burned through all the content all of a sudden the game Now sucks again let me put it to you in regular terms even I've it's been 25 years I've never even done a raate neverquest because I've been so busy getting filled on the gameplay that I enjoy in that game that now I can go and enjoy a raid and it be a completely new experience that's how huge EverQuest is that after after 25 years I still haven't done it all so we shouldn't base our development based on the opinion of one person and just keep releasing new content because that's one of the things that shrunk EverQuest down after pling of power Sean was talking about this is that one of the reasons they put those teleportation books is because the world got smaller in the sense of you would log into the game create a new character there would only be one person in the zone and then they would just quick quit the game because they read these reviews about it being such a popular social experiment game but then they'd create a character and they'd be no one there why because all the characters are in the newer expansions so that's why they put the little portals in the game so that if two people logged in one one person was in kyos the other one is a greater fedar you click on the plans of power book teleport to meet your friend and now you can still play with them right I stopped playing EverQuest after playing the power because when the teleportation stuff started happening and the world just everyone just moved on to the new content it wasn't the same cuz I didn't want the new content I wanted to dabble in the new content but I wasn't hungry for more I was okay with what I already had and what I like about his mindset is instead of just adding more cont content and going further and further and further away from the original content expand on the existing content add more to the existing content revisit the same spot you went to maybe two years ago and all of a sudden there's something new instead of making like another Island and now you never go back to the old starter City again like the design tenets is is is brilliant and I know that I'm butcher ing it um but like I I I get what he's saying and I get what the goal is and it's better than anything I would have ever thought of okay well I I think there's a lot of work that we should be doing before the game gets to the point where that is the game in the first place if we get to the point where folks are that sort of intense and that invested and the game becomes that focused on you know the the the challenge and you know sort of the EP part of the game I I think we've probably already messed up again so we'll see how we figure that one out no man stream says I have three kids and a wife I get to a place and Camp there if grou I literally I have three kids and a wife too that's crazy groups are full I just buffer says I think we've probably already messed up again so we'll see how we figure that one out no man stream says I have three kids and a wife I get to a place and Camp there if groups are full I just buff or heal and look at EQ SP effects when there aren't any is solo get one one person experience a day and hop in on a do or Trio run around trying to be that's crazy that dude is literally me with everyone everywhere Fair it's funny because it's like I hear a lot of like uh folks mention I don't I don't like when no one talks in um modern MMOs and you know I do like that when When there's less handh holding and the community got to figure stuff out and all of that and so I've been watching our friends and family pretty closely to see how much that's the case right like how much are people talking to each other a lot of that happens in Discord which is fine the talking is talking especially when it's a concentrated group of folks in one Community like that you know but it's how much information sharing is going on how much are people helping each other how many how many people are becoming like the mavens that know a little bit of everything and try to help other people out and that's where they derive some Joy [ __ ] like that right and it's been nice to see that that's actually happened a fair bit you you know we've got a handful of people that are really oh hey yeah this is kind of a weird Quest or I don't know what the you know hell Sean was thinking on that but if you do this right and it's like oh cool we figured it out the problem now compared to EQ is the high-end people now include streamer and content creators I think it's a similar problem though it's yeah but we can't bend over backwards for them if they want to if they want to not like something about the game they're going to not like it that's just kind of that the goal is yeah well you know the solution to that is if content creators are the problem which they are in a lot of ways because they like to do the achievements and they like to do the way the community can fix that is support the streamers that are more like me which literally will just sit there and do 1% XP a day and somehow manage to have a blast and I'm not saying you should actually do that what but what I'm saying is that's kind of like my content I don't care who watches anything I'm still going to record myself sitting there fishing for two hours and having a conversation because that is my EQ experience and some people are going to love it some people are going to hate it but yeah I mean to his point uh because we live in a content creator Rich streamer world there's going to be a lot of people that just burn through the content and once they're done with it they're just going to move on to the next project um but I think it's going to be different for Monsters and memories because again the community that we have I think I'm going to shift off from the negativity and move on to the positive I think every single person that even watches this agrees with 90% of what Sean is saying and you have every intention to enjoy this game just like you would classic EverQuest and people that played EverQuest and play with each other were all kind of like on the way same wavelength it's like a cult no I'm just kidding but on a serious note I mean it's like that we get each other and we get him he gets us we're all in this for the same reason you know and there's always going to be people that don't like it and that is okay I'm beating a dead horse because we keep talking about retention it really doesn't matter that much let uh wrap this video up and move on to the next topic we're almost done that we make something that U individuals that are kind of that that are willing to think on their own and have their own opinions um enjoy baster said surely there's a board game designer out there that's a former EQ addict I think ccg would be a good idea for taverns if you if you'd be cool having cards as Dro I loved gwin so much people can play versus each other while camping live from tulan said honestly V are honestly card games as a side Hobby in an MMO seem like a fun idea one way to potentially do that would have that actually rather than it be drops that you use directly um have it have there be uh a trade skill in something that makes actually makes the the cards for it and then have different drops be components for that person right so maybe the maybe the game is based off of history and archaeology and stuff based off of history and archaeology um in different things in research in astrology in astronomy right and so maybe the the notes the not the notes but essentially imagine like a tarot card or a ccg card maybe these cards are are derived from um various classes like that that then can produ some right and so it's kind of tied into the fiction like the world has a ccg in a sense and it's the sanction cards are they come from these sources and those sources derive their information from different things right so you know just yeah that's a cool idea to have like um you know card game within the game and how you get those cards can be different ways of either drops or by trade skills yeah all of that is cool just put a little bit of a fictional wrapper on it and then boom put it in it's really it's a question of just sort of resource allocation dedication to it tell you what if you tell all of your friends about our game and get all of your guild mates and your family to uh to play later on and that leads us to having the cash that we need to do extra stuff yeah so best way to support um Monsters And Memories is just to get the word out so get the word out then what i' what I'd like as ew said I think a big element about streaming is sharing the first experience with each other and that moment could be at your own pace people just want to see your reaction to it that's a very good point I mean I'm not I'm not much I'm not a content creator streamer by any means but but your logic and your point uh is absolutely right that's kind of what people do and what people watch you're you're right like to try to promise you I don't know if I can Pinky Promise yet I I would like to say that it would be nice there there are a lot of things that it would be nice to spend our money on that aren't like dropping a few million on a new new project or whatever it'd be nice to reinvest in the project and be like hey we're doing pretty well right now so we actually commissioned uh some cool ccg stuff blah blah blah for this thing that we're putting in as a you know integrated into the game that kind of thing right so I could see I could definitely see you know opportunities to add features like that as a result of folks enjoying the core game as it is when we when we go live and and we may even float some of that stuff out to the community as like a poll or something be like hey we could do this with the cash we could do that with the cash what are you guys thinking get your opinions on that as well and there's a lot of that stuff that I can imagine you know I can imagine situations where like Ali's hey over the weekend I made this thing the dude's so fast and he's so creative and good I could see that right or some of the other programmers on the team or you say ccg I can imagine Goblin's ears probably perked up and was like I'll make some cards all right so we got one more thing to do first of all thank you all for sticking around this long um one thing I've been doing on these breaking news news reels this is technically only episode two is I've been uh closing out with some some positive things that we can all relate to right I say a lot of things during these streams that you may agree with you may disagree with but I think the having a discussion conversation about it or just enjoying ourselves enjoying watching all this cool stuff is fun in and by itself uh but you know for those of us that came from the Everquest World um our part six is going to be EQ lore and fun just as a friendly reminder all of this information will be included in the description of the video after the live stream is over um so feel free to enjoy it and let's get into it sh we this is EverQuest Mysteries there have always been Mysteries surrounding EverQuest Tales of A Clockwork Dragon quests that haven't been discovered swords made of fire Horrors beneath the Waters of Lake wrath this guy but since then a lot of these have been debunked or even proven so I wanted to focus on some of my own personal EQ Mysteries things that I've always had questions about but could never really explain but in a world so large where to begin right here with Bas it's finally been released and you know what that means right the drown citizens Are Back In The Free Port sewers woo now when I tell someone that they swim worse than a drowned citizen it has some real weight to it but on a more serious note I want to talk about this super important statue in thuren I have a theory about who this is so if you'd all take out your Bas manuals and turn to page 14 all right brief lore lesson once upon a time a bunch of dwarves were sailing around North and they got lost in a storm and were carried off to vus now the leader of these dwarfs was Colin DNE and seeing the potential wealth and Fortune of this long lost continent they landed there and were immediately attacked by Giants long story short Colin danne sacrificed himself so that his people could escape and they later found the city of theden and so on and so forth these dwarfs then adopted the name cole Dane in honor of Colin Dayne combining his first and last names and Ever After the leader of the dwarfs was referred to as danne here's some footage of DNE Frost Reaver IV is he being perac camped are there people sitting there okay here's a picture of them I believe this to be a double tolken reference in Lord of the re's tolken lore the dwarfs kind of passed a name Duran much like the Danes of EverQuest and I won't bore you with the details of that I could but I won't that's reference one reference number two would be the actual name danne I'm sure you're all familiar with danne ironfoot Na's son lord of the Iron Hills who slew Azog with his red axe at the Battle of aanl bizar during the third age and later became king of Duran's folk after Thorn Oak Shield which killed the Battle of Five Armies so I think this is Colin Dayne see seems like a pretty good assumption to me he even has his magical pck snow chipper in hand nerd or you know what now that I think about it it's probably just brell serus here's another statue that's always bothered me why is this a hill giant shouldn't it be an ice giant well no besides the fact that an ice giant statue would probably look a lot like a normal ice giant this is actually the homeland of the Giants after that Fiasco with r the gods put a curse on all of his creations ogris and goblins were stricken dumb I don't know what happened to Orcs maybe they were given red eyes and green skin and Kilt but the lush green Land of the Giants was covered with ice and snow and the Giants that didn't flee their Homeland slowly turned into ice monsters now I know what you're all thinking that explains the Giants but what happened to this guy well I don't know but don't worry Goblin Kean I'll save you a crownfall king Druid Rin everyone's favorite thing besides being an obvious Stonehenge reference I still have no clue as to what these are or where they came from as far as I know there's no lore about them but I mean Druids probably made them right they're certainly enough to get the job done they're made out of giant dark stones with sharp evil looking red symbols that doesn't seem very Druid likee which leads me to believe that something isn't right with them on closer inspection I began to notice some strange things about the Druid I mean marker Stones okay so follow me on this a lot of the Druid Rings appear to be broken down while others are perfectly intact I thought that was weird so I decided to start marking these down on a map not really thinking anything would come of it then I began to notice that there's a lot of Druid Rin that can't be ported to and I mean a lot so I started adding those as well the Living Dead can be found at a a lot of Druid Rin again leading me to believe that there's something very wrong with them rainbow dragon butterflies some zones are particularly strange like the Wrath mountains there's two Druid Rings look at the unkempt druid's Druid I mean marker Stone it's huge it has those things from the inside on the outside in nulos there's a druid Ren and three Druid poles and what are these poles after locating every Druid Rene and pole in the game and mapping out their locations and the zones they're in I discovered that I was wasting a lot of my time and that none of this means anything and that the developers are crazy people speaking of the Wrath mountains what a strange place there's sphinxes lizard people dragons Cyclops Giants Undead giant Undead and amongst all of these giant arm statues or are they I assumed that some past civilization had made them but these mountains didn't even exist until a terrible event unfolded ready for another lore Theory okay so during the age of monuments the followers of razek who seem kind of Dopey now but back then they grew to be very powerful and they eventually opened up portals to The Plains of power and challenged the gods themselves specifically the Wrath Council for some reason in their plane of Earth the rosian Army ultimately lost this battle as they couldn't kill the Wrath in their own plane but razek was so pleased with his Creations that he led a second attack against the council and was Victorious having captured some of the council he brought them back to norath and began executing them it's said that when the bodies of the Fallen Gods struck norath mountains shot out of the earth and nearby having seen their Brethren fall to the warlord a lake was filled with the tears of the remaining council members hence the name Lake wrath tier wraith tier I don't know how to say anything I'm I'm making it all up I don't know so here's my question are these arms all that's left of the Fallen wrath council members I'll let you decide but the answer is yes also there's a third arm all the way over here how long has that been there after playing EQ for years I still managed to discover new stupid things in this game I mean look at it it Blends in with the walls perfectly and it looks kind of like those rocks that are everywhere and there's no reason to actually go over to it it's not a marker for anything nothing spawns there it's not even on any Maps someone must have decided to just stick it over here and that's amazing from now on when I play I'll be here at this arm giving it a purpose I'm having a great time so what else is there to talk about mxon sword in Cara Isle it's just a sword that isn't documented anywhere on the internet that's kind of strange but pretty boring you know I've always been fascinated with the mimic in running eye but that's just a stupid chest with teeth no one cares how about those wall mouths and guck is that like a thing in the wall or did the frog locks paint that on there that's dumb too although modern games have a severe lack of creepy mouths in the walls the clock why is it at 4:00 why but seriously if you've looked at it a little closer than this you'll notice that there's some markings on the side of it now my first thought was there's no way the creators of EverQuest actually took the time and cared enough to actually have it say something okay so after watching National Treasure printing out the Rosetta Stone and researching Google images for 47 hours I discovered that these markings are some kind of combination of anglosaxon Celtic and Norse ruins and when you figure that nonsense out you can read right up here eanon gnomes I mean of course who else would have made such a mechanical machine but what what I love more than that is the text found below it Sony EQ they didn't write quos they specifically had this text backwards so that it would reveal the Easter egg I don't even know what to say anymore this game keeps throwing 15-year-olds secrets and arms at me I don't know how but wait are there any other places in EQ where you can find strange ruins well I searched everywhere and I mean everywhere and I found one other spot the EC tunnel specifically in the hands of Druids a lot of these symbols appear on the blade of the nature Walker Scimitar this one was harder to figure out because the small pixelated text is almost impossible to read and there's a few RS that I just couldn't find but you can basically fill in the gaps it says may Earth and Sky protect you KTR and I assume the KTR stands for corana the Raine keeper but the C and the K seem to be the same symbol so I don't really know on to the next thing I'd like to take this time to talk about the giant Gears of steam font for a second normally when I try to bring this stuff up to people they never seem to understand what I'm talking about these things are massive I would even say comically large if they helped power some kind of machine it'd have to be the size of an entire zone or maybe several zones or west Cora to the best of my knowledge they aren't mentioned at all in game but perhaps this segment I stumbled upon from the kunark strategy guide is the only clue we'll ever get to their Origins many gnomes put new inventions on display the most noted was a great Clockwork spider that malfunctioned immediately after being unveiled the known creator of this failed project still answers to this date for the chaos that it caused I know it was you I know what you've done and you won't get away with it opal dark Brier is a weird NPC she might just appear to be the high elf wizard Guild Master in the Academy of Arcane science but she's also the dark elf cleric Guild Master in the East Freeport slums what this nicely Dressed Man and the ill begotten sewers seems to be the only guy who knows what's going on GRE bew the corruption even scien from the SL hands of the r seem and is darkening the minds of her apprentices what a creepy weirdo in the sewers if you actually go and talk to her she says you're not a member of the wizard class be gone what does it mean all right I'm putting an end of this I could go on forever which I guess is a credit to this game isn't it you know the more I look around and explore EQ the more I realized just how much effort was put into it I used to find dead ends or strange pots or seemingly meaningless NPCs and think just that that these things weren't finished or didn't have any thought put into them and the more I question these things the more I discover how Ron I was so the next time you're mindlessly grinding exp or farming plat take a second to look around explore a little go on an adventure have some fun this game is amazing and there's more to it than just raiding or gathering items in my stupid opinion as for me well I plan to keep on learning and finding meaning in everything I still don't know much about kunark and I really want to talk about the history of the deserts of row ever wonder why this thing is here well there's a reason for it or how about the Oasis of marah why is it called that there's plague ins this stone four-frame wall fire animations and run ey this guy's face this weird glitchy shelf and so a what is the human faction what's that all about terrar rantula I've never seen him Egyptian Scarab statues secret fire Poots can't people lore hey really quick Sean if you're uh watching this part or somebody shares this specific part of the video what he said is on point there's a reason for everything if you do the same thing in Monsters And Memories where pretty much everything has a meaning um even if it's like an Easter egg but something like that having being able to discover things 25 years later is um an amazing [Music] feat that was awesome Michael Shenanigans is the channel EverQuest Mysteries um share with you guys really it's just going to be the outro but um I want to read uh this last comment Atari DC said when I was a kid I randomly had a free copy of ruins of kunar mailed to me still
