criminally underrated song. i think they just didn't know what to do with her.
she doesn't fit into the pop genre... she isn't a taylor swift... she isn't "rock" enough to be on alt-stations... is she the next aimee mann? sheryl crow? do we sell her to the matchbox 20, lifehouse, gavin degraw, nickelback folks?

LOVE this song. In the original recording the crack in her voice wasnt on purpose but she left it in because it sounded so raw and true.
The austin city limits performance was amazing and well worth the watch of the whole show.
I've seen her live 5 times now...seriously go see her if you get the chance. Her whole band is so good on stage, and you really just can't capture their energy and musical skill in a studio.

One of my favorite songs! She has another song called "Turpentine" that I love too! :)
The live version which is more recent is also astounding.
I remember stumbling on this track when it came out and being blown away, but I'd forgotten about it for half a decade now. Truly a great moment in songwriting and performing on the last chorus's crescendo. Her voice gives me goosebumps every time.
