Great video but that music.
It's interesting that the cross-section of the new portion is essentially rectangular, except for relatively small filleted corners below the waterline.
I thought there'd be more of a swept shape over the entire length.
Did they use flex tape?
I've worked on that ship, its a dump. Not sure if was before or after this. I was only on it for a few hours at a time, mostly in the stores and crew quarters. But it was nothing special, dirty, and very run down. One of the worst ships I've been on, and I've worked on dozens.
I love imagining the calculations for something like. How much did cost to make that extra section? How much to install it? How much to keep the ship grounded for however long the renovation took? What compensation, if any, to the crew? Then cross all that with how much longer the increased revenue projection for each voyage. How much longer the ship is expected to last post-renovations. Cost of more crew needing to be hired to maintain the same level of service with the increased capacity. Someone, somewhere had to sit down and factor in all these costs/revenue projections along with 1000 others. Kudos to you, person in the shadows. You made this happen!
when I read "cut in half" for some reason I thought diagonal cut.
... Of course you linked to a timestamp after it's all done
