welcome to bart's book haven i'm author barty gilbertson and as promised i will be taking you all on a tour of my bookshelves there's quite a few here so let's get started and here we go i thought i'd start us off with the wide view of the library area in my home i have six full floor shelves top to bottom and the five here in the left were mainstay shells uh dark oak i think they're called and then the one on the right the lighter shelf was already here in the house i moved in and the owner let me buy it for about twenty dollars so now i have my library set up with these six shelves uh above you'll see that there's some track lighting installed and i tried to utilize the lamps there and direct them strategically they try to get the best lighting available that i can here in this corner of the room and then along the top you'll see various things decorating the shelves as well so i thought maybe what we could do is start up there work our way to the right and then just look and start looking at the shelves but before we do that the actual reading area that's my reading chair i spent a lot of time there reading books it's pretty comfortable chair that walking stick over there in the corner was actually made by my dad and he used to make quite a few of those walking sticks that was one that he gave me and then in the alcove area we'll go on in here is my canvas painting of star wars and i think that's just absolutely beautiful i would like to try to get some lights up above it to help highlight it a little bit more that that'll be future project and then down here i have some lamps and sometimes i have a candle burning like i do now and whatever i'm currently reading is usually sitting right here and right now i'm currently reading book two of the travis mcgee series by john d mcdonald nightmare in pink and i'm also in the middle of stephen king's night shift his first collection of short stories i'm about three or four short stories in right now and of course my big cup of coffee gotta have coffee so let's go and get started all right at the top here uh i don't like keeping leaving books inside of boxes on the shelves i prefer to pull them out and then just have the books on the shelves and then if i keep these i'll use them as decoration so this one on the left is the katherine kurtz trilogy uh the dragon riders of fern by anne mccaffrey and then the hardy boyz box continuing along the top i have the drist novels i believe i'm saying that right by r.a salvatore and as you can see they are numbered one through on to the end and so i have the entire collection of dritz novels right up until the end right there the only ones i don't have are the generations trilogy which is the very latest trilogy he has out i'm waiting until i get in a match set that'll match these somewhat and then i'll add them but there you have the dritz novel collection so face out this is the first trilogy in the chronological order of events known as the dark elf trilogy homeland exile sojourn the second part chronologically is the ice twindale trilogy which consists of the crystal shard streams of silver and the halflings gem the next part of the series is four books called the legacy of the drow which includes the legacy starless night siege of darkness and passage to dawn the next part of the series is a trilogy called paths of darkness which includes the silent blade the spine of the world and sea of swords the next trilogy in the series is known as the cell swords which includes servant of the shard promise of the witch king and road of the patriarch the next trilogy in the series is the hunter's blades trilogy which includes the thousand orcs the lone drow and the two swords the next trilogy in the series is known as transitions and includes the orc king the pirate king and the ghost king the next section of the series is a quadrilogy known as the neverwinter saga which includes gauntlet grim neverwinter sharon's claw and the last threshold next in the series are two collections of short stories the first one is the collected stories the second one is the companions next in the series is the trilogy known as companions codex which includes knight of the hunter rise of the king and vengeance of the iron dwarf and then finally the final trilogy that i have in my collection is known as homecoming features the books archmage maestro and hero the last trilogy which i have yet to get is known as generations once i get that added i will let you guys know and continuing on along the top here i have the malazam book of the fallen by stephen erickson the malazam book of the fallen is a ten book series the first four books are gardens of the moon dead house gates memories of ice house of chains the next three books in the series is midnight tides the bone hunters and reapers gale the final three books in the series is toll the hounds dust of dreams and the crippled god okay and then up here on top of this shelf i have three hardcover books i had actually ordered these and paperback but i got them in hardco or hardback that's all right the first book here on the left is by david eddings it's the fourth book in the milarian series called the sorceress of darsheva katherine kurtz the heroine of gwinnett which is the first book in uh saint camber series and then anne mccaffrey is the renegades of fern but i do have all three of these series and if i ever want to read the series in order i can read up to the point of these books detours these shells then return back to the series so i'm okay we're good moving over here to the final shelf at the top and you'll see another box that i'm using as a decoration for the collector's edition of harry potter i know there's a lot of controversy surrounding jk rowling right now i'm of the opinion that i'm not going to be pulled into it i'm not going to fret or worry about what her opinion is on something i'm not going to let that diminish my enjoyment of the series and the characters inside so i'll be keeping those then over here to the right are a couple of cards that my brother sent me we were both really big on james bond growing up we watched all the movies this first one is a lotus esprit from the spy loved me that's the car that went under the water and turned into a submarine so it was pretty cool and in this car is the aston martin which was featured in the movie the living daylights so i have both of those and i will never ever remove them from the packages i'll leave them right there let's move on down to the first shelf on my first bookcase as you can see this is my home for the will of time books and these were written by robert jordan so starting with the prequel novel we have new spring the eye of the world and the great hunt the next three in the series are the dragon reborn the shadow rising and the fires of heaven continuing the series are these three books lord of chaos a crown of swords and the path of daggers and then the next three books in the series were winter's heart crossroads of twilight and knife of dreams and then the final three books in the series were written and published after the passing of robert jordan uh brandon sanderson wrote the books left off of notes that robert jordan had left behind and those three books were the gathering storm towers of midnight and a memory of light so moving down from will of time to the next shelf we have this shelf starting off with these books we have the king killer chronicle by patrick rothfuss with the name of the wind and a wise man's fear he also has his novella the slow regard to silent things the third and final book has yet to be written and published then we move on to brandon sanderson with a couple of standalone novels we have elantris and warbreaker then i have brandon sanderson's mistborn trilogy era one which includes the final empire the will of ascension and the hero of ages for some reason the first book here is labeled as mistborn but it is really the final empire continuing on with brandon sanderson this is the mistborn trilogy era 2 which includes the alloy of law shadows of self and the bands of mourning and i have these rather large trade back a trade paperback copies of his stormlight archive which has the way of kings words of radiance and oathbringer the rhythm of war i have on order and i will be getting it this october and that way i can have the match set all right moving down to the third shelf we'll start with these in trade paperback i have the arthurian saga by mary stewart which consists of these four books the crystal cave the hollow hills the last enchantment and the wicked day next up is the riddle master trilogy by patricia a mckillip which includes the riddle master of head air of sea and fire and harpist in the wind then i have the cleric quintet by r.e salvatore which includes the books canticle and sylvan shadows night masks the fallen fortress and the chaos curse next we have the chronicles of thomas covenant the unbeliever the first trilogy by stephen r donaldson with the original artwork lord foul's bane the el earth war and the power that preserves then we have the second chronicles of thomas covenant the unbeliever consisting of three books the wounded land the one tree and the white gold wielder also available in the original artwork and then finally we have the last chronicles of thomas covenant the unbeliever the four book series consisting of the wounds of the earth fatal revenant against all things ending and the last dark and the last three books i have on this shelf is the trilogy by tad williams memory sorrow and thorn and that consists of the dragon bone chair stone of farewell and to green angel tower i'm moving down to the fourth shelf my terry brooks collection these are the shannara books in chronological order and we will start with this so this is the only book that's really out of order but it's a graphic novel it's rather large so i put it up against the left side there but it's dark wraith of shannara by terry books and i believe if i remember right in the line of chronology it occurs sometime after or before wish song i think it's right after the voice owner scenario so in chronological order kicking off the shinara books and i know terry brooks says shannara but i've always said shanara because it has more of an epic fantasy feel so that's just that's the way i'll always say it but the first trilogy is the word and the void and it consists of running with the demon a knight of the word and angel fire east the next trilogy is the genesis of shannara which is armageddon's children the elves of sintra and the gypsy morph these three books i actually had autographed for me by terry brooks and i'll show you the first one or the third one rather but get the shadows out of the way but there you have it cherry book signed to me wishing you magical journeys trey books and he has a similar signature and the other two wishing me well so these are special books next in the line of events is a duology the legends of shannara which includes bearers of the black staff and the measure of the magic next we have the actually the original trilogy plus its prequel the shannara books and the first king of shannara was the prequel then we had the sword of shannara the el stones the shinara and the wish sangashinara and as you can see there some rubbing off on the front cover of the sword of shinara i lent this to a friend and that's how he returned it so yeah i probably won't be lending out too much anymore but i have to keep these three books because they are all also autographed by terry brooks so they are keepers for sure i also have in trade paperback size the original trilogy of shinara books uh the sword of shannara the yale stones the shinara and the wish song of shannara but the artwork on these is phenomenal just looking at these really brings back some good memories for me and takes me back to a good time in my life when i was first discovering epic fantasy this series of books was my lord of the rings it's that special to me the next series in the shannara series of books was a quadrilogy called the heritage of shinara and that included the scions of shinara the druid of shinara the elf queen of shinara and the talismans of shannara the next trilogy that followed was known as the voyage of the gerald shinara and that included the ils witch and tracks and morgaar and i'm not even so sure if i said that right more that's a hard one to pronounce and the next trilogy is known as the high druid of shannara and that includes the books chaka roos tanekhil and strakin moving on to the next trilogy in the series known as the dark legacy of shara we have the books wards of fairy blood fire quest and witch wraith so moving down to the very final shelf the bottom one i've already shown you which wraith on the far left there and i've already shown you the three trade paperback novels i have of the original artwork but that leaves everything else so let's get started with it the next trilogy in the shannara series is known as the defenders of shinara and those books are the hi druids blade the darkling child and the sorcerer's daughter and the last section here is a quadrilogy of books called the fall of shannara i only have three of them i'll be getting the fourth and final book here any day now actually but in the fall scenario we have the black elf stone the scar invasion and the steel assassin and then the final book will be called the last druid and terry brooks also had another series that he had worked on called the magic kingdom of landover and this was the first trilogy in that series magic kingdom for sale sold the black unicorn and wizard at large and the land over series continues with three these three books the tangle box which is brew and princess of landover and from what i understand he's working on the seventh book in the series as well so definitely looking forward to that and then rounding out that bottom shelf i have books by elizabeth moon and this particular trilogy here is called the deed of pact cenarion and that consists of the sheep farmer's daughter divided allegiance and oath of gold that was followed up with the duology known as the legacy of gerd with the books liars oath and surrender none and then wrapping up elizabeth moon's work was a quintet known as paladin's legacy and that consists of the books other fealty kings of the north echoes of betrayal limits of power and crown of renewal all right that wraps up the final shelf of my first bookshelf let's move on over to the second one now and start right up here with bookshelf number one we start with the broken earth trilogy by n.k jemisin which has the books the fifth season the obelisk gate and the stone sky next is the lord of the rings by j.r tolkien along with the hobbit and i got these because i love the movie tie-in artwork that's what really sold me on these editions this edition of the books that we have the hobbit and then the lord of the rings split up into the three sections which is the fellowship of the ring the two towers and the return of the king then i have this series of four books known as the faithful and the fallen by john quinn and they consist of malice valor rune and wrath and then we had a follow-up trilogy of blood and bone also by john gwynn a time of dread a time of blood and a time of courage all right so moving down to the second shelf we have these to look at next up is the gentleman bastard series by scott lynch which includes the lies of loch lamora red seas under red skies and the republic of thieves the fourth book the thorn of emberlane is scheduled for a november release at the last posting but i'm not sure if that's gonna happen um that date has been moved so many times he's kind of turning into another george r.r martin here speaking of george rr martin we have the song of ice and fire a series of books by george r.r martin a game of thrones a clash of kings a storm of swords a feast of crows and they dance with dragons no word yet on the sixth book it's kind of put on like a permanent hold it seems like next up is the first law trilogy by joe abercrombie and that's the blade itself before they are hanged and last argument of kings so that wraps up the second shelf moving down to the third shelf it's my david eddie's shelf all right then we have the quintet starting off with david eddings work the quintet known as the belgariad consists of the book's pawn of prophecy queen of sorcery magicians gambit castle of wizardry and enchanter's endgame next in that series is the quintet known as the milorian and that consists of the books guardians of the west king of the murgos demon lord of coranda and then the hardback that we looked at earlier sources of darshiva and then the series of kell and now you know why i keep this book up on the top shelf but that's that series featured in those two series we just looked at well are bill garath and paul guerra and they each get their own book and these were written by david and his wife lee belgrath the sorcerer and paul guerra the sorceress moving on to a whole new realm we have this trilogy called the illinium features the three books the diamond throne the ruby knight and the sapphire rose the next trilogy is known as the tamuli and it's comprised of domes of fire the shining ones and the hidden city this quadrilogy of books was written by david and his wife lee together and it's known as the dreamers and in that series is the elder gods the treasured one crystal gorge and the younger gods and then one more from david and leadings a standalone novel they'd written together called the redemption of outballis okay so now we're moving down from david eddy's to the next shelf which is comprised primarily of ann mccaffrey's books in the realm the pern universe we already looked at the far left book the redemption of al phallus now let's take a look at what we have for anne mccaffrey all right so we start off with the original trilogy and the dragon riders of pern by anne mccaffrey and that's dragon flight dragon quest and the white dragon next is the harper hall trilogy that's dragon song dragon singer and dragon drums both of these books are considered to be standalone novels however they do both take place before the events of the very first book dragonflight so they're both prequels of sorts but that's moretta the dragon lady of pern and no recalls or i can't say that narelka naruka's story from here on out um each book that was written didn't really comprise part of a trilogy or anything and they were just contributing books to the furtherance of the entire series dragon riders of pern so um kind of like piers anthony and his example books were some people did kind of section them off but they they were really part of a whole of one series and that's how these books kind of fall into place moving forward but we had dragons dawn the renegades of pern which is that hard cover that i had on the top part of the shelf earlier and then all the weirs of pern and as we continue on and the next books published in the series were the chronicles of pern first fall the dolphins of pern and then dragon's eye dragon's eye was actually published in great britain under the title of red star rising but i have the version called dragon's eye continuing on with the pern books we have the master harper of pern the skies of pern and then the first book that she wrote with her son todd mccaffrey dragonskin and the series continues um with anne mccaffrey todd mccaffrey we have dragon's blood i believe that one was written by todd mccaffrey alone and then mother and son teamed up together to write the next two dragons fire and dragon harper and then once again the last four books i have a combination of the efforts of mother and son we have dragon heart dragon girl dragon's time and sky dragons i also have this short story collection by anne mccaffrey called get off the unicorn all right that completes that shelf then down below the final shelf is my peers anthony shelf we already saw that book on the far left get off the unicorn so now let's dig into piers anthony's works so piers anthony again another author that seems to be shrouded in controversy but again i'm not going to let that take me up and and ruin my experience in reading these books i absolutely love these books they're books i read as a team and there's they're good books i really enjoyed them i really liked his use of comedy and puns in his books and a new slant a new look at how magic works these books here are the first five in his magic example books starting with a spell for chameleon the source of magic castle rugna center isle and over over and then i have the next five books books six through ten of the exam series and that is nightmare dragon on a pedestal cruel lie gollum in the gears veil of the bowl and that's it those are the first 10 books in the exam series and that's all that i have he's got oh i know tons of them 50 plus i think books in that series i probably never will own them all then piers anthony has an eight book series called the incarnations of immortality these are the first four in that series on a pale horse bearing an hourglass with a tangled skin wielding a red sword that first book on pale horse is phenomenal i highly recommend absolutely love that book very original and very well developed these are books five six and seven in that same series being a green mother for love of evil and eternity i do not have the eighth book it's a hard one to find it's not even in the right size it would be out of place and i heard it really wasn't that good anyway so i probably will not be getting it and then wrapping up his series of books that i have down there is the apprentice adept series these are the first three books in that series split infinity blue adept and juxtaposition and then he wrote four more in that series and that's out of phase robot adapt unicorn point and phased out so that completes my peers anthony collection and this bookshelf bookshelf number two done moving on to bookshelf number three let's dig in to start us off jim butcher so i have the dresden file books written by jim butcher the series and starting off with book one storm front full moon grave pearl summer night death masks and blood rites the next five books in the series are deadbeat proven guilty white knight small favor and turn coat wrapping up the series are changes ghost story cold days skin game and peace talks i do have battleground on pre-order and when it comes out on paperback then i'll add it here and then i'll have the complete set matching set all right so that wraps up our dresden file over here let me introduce you to willie and he gets his name from the movie the goonies and if you you've seen that movie then you know why his name is willy moving down to our second bookshelf let's get started next i have the lightbringer series by brent weeks five books the black prism the blinding knife the broken eye the blood mirror and the burning white next up i have the collector's edition of the dune books the original six books by frank herbert i'm not going to front face these because they basically all look the same just with a different color scheme but the original doom by frank herbert it's an amazing collector's edition hard down book there then we have dune messiah children of dune god emperor dune heretic sadoon and chapter house dude so that entire series so done with that shelf moving down to the next one this is my robin hobb shelf started off with a novella she wrote the willful princess and the piebald prince i have not read this one yet it was included in a kind of a package deal a throw-in gift for buying some of her other books so i have her the realm of the elderlings series of books and it starts off with this original trilogy the farseer trilogy which consists of the assassins apprentice royal assassin and assassin's quest the next three books are the liveship traitors trilogy that ship of magic mad ship and ship of destiny next is the tawny man trilogy which consists of fool's errand golden fool and full state next is a quadrilogy known as the rain wilds chronicles and those books are dragon keeper dragon haven city of dragons blood of dragons and then the final trilogy in the elder lane series known as the fitz and the fool trilogy we have fool's assassin fool's quest assassin's fate and then i have the ancestor trilogy by mark lawrence red sister grey sister holy sister okay moving on from that shelf we go down to the next one where we have some more goodies to show you next i have the earth children series of books by jean m owl it's a series of six books and it starts with the clan of the k bear the valley of horses the mammoth hunters the plains of passage the shelters of stone and the land of painted caves next we're going to move on to katherine kurtz the dorini series that she has this is the original trilogy this is actually the expanded one that she put out has been revised expanded in given forwards new forge to read but these are the first three books during rising durani checkmate and hai durini right the second trilogy in that series was the legends of camber of cauldy books and i think that's what they're called legends of camber of colony yes so we have camber of cauldee saint camber and camber the heretic the next trilogy is the histories of king kelsen the bishop's heir the king's justice and the quest for satan camber i have also included king kelson's bride as it continues king kelson's story so those four books the next trilogy is the heirs of saint camber we already saw this first one the heroine of gweneth and hart back then the other two books in that series are king javen's ear and the bastard prince and then finally wrapping up the durini series of books we have the three last ones here in the king's service child morgan and the kings verini and that's the end of our genome all in katherine kurtz books i know i've been saying to rini it might be dare and i i've been seeing camber it might be camber but that's how i've been pronouncing it all this time so i'll probably just keep it that way last shelf we have some pulp to show you so let's get going so down on that last shelf is mainly edgar riceborough's books starting off with the tarzan books i have the entire collection the matching set with all the same artwork uh books 1 to 24. these are the first five it starts off with tarzan of the apes and then the return of tarzan the beasts of tarzan the son of tarzan and then tarzan and the jewels of opar so those are the first five books in that series book six through ten the next five and as you can tell some of these are in better shape than others but i'm pretty happy i was able to find all of the same artwork here but we have jungle tales of tarzan tarzan the untamed tarzan the terrible tarzan and the golden lion tarzan and the ant-man and we have the next five books books 11-15 we have tarzan lord of the jungle tarzan and the lost empire tarzan at the earth's core tarzan the invincible and tarzan triumphant we have the next five books books 16-20 we had tarzan in the city of gold tarzan and the lion man tarzan and the leopard men tarzan's quest tarzan and the forbidden city and finally the last four books in the series books 21-24 tarzan the magnificent tarzan and the foreign legion tarzan and the madmen and then the final book tarzan and the castaways but i have some more edgar rice bros i have the barsoom books or the martian tales or john carter of mars books whatever you want to call them i was also lucky enough to find these in the same matching set with the same artist and there's 11 books in that series and here are the first four so we have a princess of mars the gods of mars the warlord of mars and thubia made of mars the next four books in the series books five through eight we have the chessmen of mars the mastermind of mars a fighting man of mars and swords of mars and last but not least we have the last the final three books here nine ten and eleven synthetic men of mars lana of gothel or cathole and of course john carter of mars that completes my edgar rice pearls collection this next series of books was one that i read as a teenager and it's a series of ten books by j.j fortune who i believe is just a pseudonym for a bunch of ghost writers but like i said the series of ten books it's about a boy and his uncle who need to be back home before his parents find out they've been gone while they're off overseas on various adventures this series of books is called race against time and it was a lot of fun reading these books however this particular series of books i couldn't be so picky they're very very hard to find so i actually have a mix of three different editions there's this rather plain edition here uh this is the editions i remember with those titles and then there were these but i have all three mixed in but i like i said i'm just happy as can be even have the entire series so this is books one through five and the first book is revenge in the silent tomb escape from raven castle and that's actually the design i wanted all the books in pursuit of the deadly diamonds search for mad jack's crown duel for the samurai sword and here are the last five books in that series book six seven eight nine and ten and i just discovered there's a fourth design in here that i didn't realize i had it's kind of an indiana jones thing going on there but uh so i have four different designs editions in my collection of these books but like i said i'm just thrilled this can be even have this collection uh book six so we have evil in paradise the secret of the third watch trapped in the ussr journey to atlantis and danger due north and the last book i'm going to show you today was one that i remember seeing on these wire racks and libraries all over the place when i was a teenager the witch of blackbird pond by elizabeth george speer it's actually an older book looking at this cover it kind of looks like a romance novel but it really isn't um i thought it was gonna be more dark than what it was but it wasn't that either it's more of a turn of the century book where like the witches of salem if they could float and water then they must be a witch so it's more along that those lines and there is a bit of a romance involved but it's really a royal written book i really enjoyed it and i'm glad i finally found it after all these years with the cover that i wanted there's so different covers that's the cover i was looking for but i finally got to read it and my review for it is up on goodreads so we're going to call it good dare we're going to call that the end of part 1. i'll be filming the next part part 3 as we will go over the next three shelves and wanna say hi to my cat hi sophie sophie hi there she's my lazy fat cat she's 12 years old she's a sweetheart but she keeps me company so i want to thank you all for stopping by i know it took a little bit of time so i had to break it up into two parts there's just too many to show in one video but uh that is my bookshelf part one and i will see you guys down the road for part two you
