all right we got the uh blue sky outdoor living peak patio fire pit it's uh supposed to be a smokeless virtually smokeless fire pit it's one of those fire pits that have the new double burn design just got delivered so i'm going to open it up check it out and then we'll start it up later so it's a little windy so one of the reasons why i got this fire pit over the uh solo stove was that this has uh a little bit of a wider opening than the bonfire this is 18 and three quarters and the uh bonfire is smaller uh and the yukon which is what i wanted from a size perspective was way too much money uh so um that's why we have this so but the design looks pretty similar it's got uh the extra burn airflow holes and the air is supposed to flow out from the or in from here up inside the wall and then fuel the burn i guess and this is the great that the wood the wood pellets go on and then uh the ash falls through and then it's uh collected underneath and then you just replace that or uh empty it rather so i'm gonna put it over here and get rid of the old fire pit and put my old cover on it so we'll see what happens all right we're back we're gonna test out the fire pit right now it's got nothing in it so we're gonna put some stuff in there see what we got all right it's been about eight minutes since we started this whole effort so it's been burning for probably about five or so um it's starting to get hot but it's still smoking um obviously i probably need to put maybe i don't know if i need to put more wood in here this is about how much wood i'd put in my old fire pit so we'll see we'll let it we'll keep going and then we'll be back all right all right so i'm back uh i don't think i put enough fire logs in the pit to really make a roaring fire i think it's too big for just like three logs i ended up putting a uh dura flame log in there which is mixed in with the three pieces of wood and it's making this very good warm fire but i think that it's still not enough because the pit is too big i it's a good fire right now but it's still there's a ton of smoke and uh it's not having the effect that i would like it to so i think i need to uh go back to the drawing board and um figure out how either to use more wood or go to use pellets or something like that so we'll see uh see you later all right we're back day two you'll notice i got some uh pellets uh we're gonna try some pellets today uh yesterday's burn with the minimal logs uh it was not really successful you'll see there's a little bit of discoloration in the bottom there i think that's just from burning i don't think that's anything a problem uh we'll see though so i'm gonna put some pellets in here and uh my understanding is that it could have quite a significant amount this is a 40 pound bag that was about five bucks at a lowe's so we'll see how this works and since this is my first time using pellets i have no idea what to expect but i'm going to light it with some fat wood instead of some accelerant [Music] so all right we're back and uh it's about like five or ten minutes later and this thing is ripping it is massive flames uh you definitely are getting that secondary burn the flames are way bigger than i thought they would be holy crap and right now there are some puffs of smoke but it is it's pretty it's pretty smokeless right now all right so it the thing is ripping uh it's ridiculously hot and extremely high flames this is way bigger fire than i thought it would be it this is insane uh i will definitely have to move it away from the deck side uh the railing even though it is aluminum um it's got to be pretty warm uh so we'll have to do that but uh it's pretty awesome i'm very surprised at how well this is burning and i think i will need to rearrange how we are operating with the fire because this is a ridiculously huge flame so i guess it's pretty awesome cool all right so it's uh it's been burning for about 15 minutes or so like at full bore and now it's starting to die down uh it's still like really hot on that side because that's the least burn side um fire started on the far side um but i would say that if we had the thing completely full it would probably last about a half hour on uh on pellets without refilling but it had a good fire going and it was like ridiculously huge flames so very surprised impressed and uh pretty awesome
