You should have tested the air pressure by blocking the outlet and measuring the air. The backward impeller should have won.

Worked for RIM to help make the blackberry, created a spur gear generator when he was into wooden clocks, has a shop that is largely homemade power tools (like this impeller for a dust collector), and is an all-round Canadian nerd.
