[Music] hi I'm all Snee Locke welcome to another episode of oolacile our first shop will have two blocks all nicely cleaned and painted greased up to go and I have a rope unfortunately this really nice little end that I put on here that was for a demonstration and then it can't be there because I can't thread it through the blocks with it on there now I could unbraid it and try and save that last 4 or 5 inches it roll but I don't think it's worth the trouble so I'm just gonna cut that off I don't know what I'll use it for but there you go since I cut through the tape this end won't unravel and this end won't unravel so I'll be able to use this to thread through the block we have one end of this braided in one end it isn't I'm gonna have the braided end being the handle I want the braided end to be sticking out here so what I need to do is I need to take this end and slide it through that bail and then pull it around the bottom part of the pulley see how that goes through then I go through the bottom part of the lower block and inside this bail that's just a passage for the rope to go through and then [Music] on the rounds of the top part of the block then on around to the top part of the lower block then we come in here and we go through this anchor point now just because we can I'm gonna get fancy and weave this rope back in you I only need a loop about five inches long some of it comes down to here they're just gonna unlaid the rope take any strand doesn't matter which one tuck it through and then go around to the next strand on the roll and I tuck this one underneath that one right there that comes out into the next strand and they tuck underneath out just like when we were breeding the end see how those three come out of the triangle now we have that nice triangle shape again I just took over that strand and under this one or this strand and under this one over this strand and under this one I still got our three strands going still got the triangle shape then we just carry on over-under over-under oh now we're all nicely anchored and we have a blocking tackle made up with a proper block on the bottom it's a lot easier to eat according to Wikipedia this is called a double tackle it has two blocks for police and this locking mechanism kind of adds an additional thing to it I can pull it up latch it and then have it hold itself you can kind of see the mechanical advantage of having this arrangement by watching how much the block moves the amount of movement that I put into the rope grabbing the pull rope up here near the bottom of the top block is they pull it up the bottom block travels about 1/4 the distance that this rope moves so it's a four to one that means if I'm able to lift a hundred pounds by pulling on this if the block and group is strong enough I should be able to lift four hundred pounds with this block and tackle the double tackle this latching mechanism once you get the load on it when I pull out this lever comes out and grips the rope and stops the rope from slipping up the harder I pull on it the tighter it grips so actually let's the low it up in the air it's a handy thing to have if you're working by yourself that way you can bring it up set it and then walk away you don't want to do this with anybody under the load you never want to cross the pulley it to start with ropes and pulleys these are for pulling things around and you can do some lifting with it but you got to be really careful one little slip down it goes and even though it's only a hundred pounds a hundred pounds falling 20 feet that's a lot of speed and a lot of power so the load secured I'm good then to release it I just pull on girl a lot on the rope it latches pull down on the rope it releases the harder you pull the tighter it grips the rope now this extra pulley it's only on there for a week you don't have it on it tends to roll the pulley over this is a handy rig to have and it's gonna be a lot hand here now that I've got the proper block on the bottom if you have any suggestions for a new video questions about today's video ready the other videos on the channel just drop it out in the comments you know I read them all thanks for watching [Music]
