hey guys it's Chris with two blind guys here today to talk to you about the duet light lock channel system available from Hunter Douglas on the blackout honeycomb shades so this particular product came out to help compensate for some of the light gaps and the halo effect that you would have with a standard blackout honeycomb shade so I'm gonna flip the camera around here and show you some of those features and how that new particular system works all right so this shade is in a nursery which nurseries are most common area where we're gonna see the shade because kids need the blackout helps big-time with little kids and babies especially but this could be done in a bedroom as well so right off the bat you can see on the sides here there are channels so if typical duet honeycomb shade would just have the actual shade itself that these have the channels that run up and down the side so if you look here from top to bottom there is a channel or guttering system that goes in the inside of the pocket and so you can see here the shade actually sits within that opening of the the channel so that's what helps block some of that light so that light is actually put on the inside here instead of having that cap on between your drywall and the shade itself so a couple things to point out so one your your mounting depth so you have to have a pretty decent pocket to be able to mount this on the inside if you have a very shallow pocket or no depth at all word have to be mounted about here it cannot be done so this is an inside mount application only for a relatively deep or standard pocket on a lot of new home construction and our Tara see it's got a black interior to it this actual channel does come in a couple different colors but most of the applications we do are going to be white because your trim works white and it coordinates with it so the other thing to look at is on the bottom here you have a rubber gasket that goes all the way across so that rubber gasket sits on the sill itself so that helps create a tighter seal there besides that any of the three quarter inch duet honeycomb fabrics are offered in this so if you look at this fabric on the inside of the shade here it would have that mylar honeycomb which is the black out interior so there are a lot of available options currently it's not offered in the extra quarter but that may change with time so this one in particular we have on the PowerView pebble remote so I have this on channel three if I click through I click open this shades gonna go up into the fully open position so one of the really nice things about this is it's offered in Power View which is the automation which is what we're looking at here or you can get in like rats cordless lifts so super child-friendly as far as the court operations go this has a battery pack so that battery pack is on the back side of the headrail it's 12 double-a batteries so that's how we're powering this particular shade so and if I click channel 3 and I clicked close the shades gonna come to the closed position I can also stop it intermittently by clicking the stop button in the center of this remote but we're gonna bring it all the way down to show you what it looks like when it's totally down in the blackout position so the shade will come fully closed and we're actually gonna flick the lights off here so you can see total room darkening in this room so yeah there is no light that's coming through that one thing I will point out though is is if you have out of square windows if you have window sills that bubble at the bottom things like that or to keep in mind so you can get a little bit of a glowing effect here we usually employ a rubber gasket of some sorts if we see that the other thing is is depending on your sunlight if you get direct sunlight a certain angle you may see a little bit of a glowing effect there or down here a lot of times this rubber gasket compensates for anything out of square on the bottom but those are two things in particular to definitely keep in mind this is a blackout system in most cases it's total blackout but there are some scenarios where you are gonna get a little bit of light that comes through so it's still much better than a standard Duet shade where you would have the besides here with a gap between the shed and the drywall but that is the only thing to keep in mind is there are certain applications where this may not be 100% blackout it may be closer to 97 98 percent but yeah this is the duet honeycomb shade with the light block channel system on Power View automation
