spoiler alert we may have found the best biryani on the entire planet but it's the last thing we eat in this video so make sure and watch it to the very end now back to the show hi everybody welcome back to follow me yama foodie india today we are in hyderabad and we are going to be taking you on an epic food tour to show you this beautiful city we're going to visit some of the most famous restaurants to eat some of the most famous foods in hyderabad we're talking about biryani haleem a variety of street food and so much more we're starting things off with a classic south indian breakfast from the taj mahal hotel let's get this thing started [Music] i am so excited about this traditional south indian breakfast we are having button elite we're having button vada and then we're having something i've never seen before and that is hera vera dosa it's bright green in the pictures anyways i can't wait to see it in person i'm going to start with this button easily here it's a little mini elite and a spicy sambar i'm going to try it first without the chutney but i have a feeling that that coconut chutney is going to take it over the top but let's try this button idli that's really good i'm so excited about this we came hungry and i'm glad we did because this stuff looks amazing i'm going to get some more of this sambar on here to check that it's nice and spicy let's go in for my first bite wow it just fell apart on my tongue the sambat is spicy they put a big dollop of butter in it so it's got a little bit of a creaminess to it the texture is absolutely incredible on this the ili has such a subtle flavor that just absorbs all of the deliciousness from that somebody and it just completely like coats your tongue and your whole mouth this is amazing this is probably some of the best combat i've had because of the spice to it it's a traditional south indian breakfast it's like what we've had before but this just takes it up a notch with the spice with the butteriness with the texture of this idli our first one in india and it is the best one i've ever had now it's time for some bada and we have been told time and time again that this has to be soaked and this has been soaking for a while so i can only imagine the flavor that it's absorbed i can see some chilies in the body already so that gets me really excited we have already got this one ready to go you hate the whole thing that is really good i've always been about a fan i love the texture of it i love when it sits in simbad and just kind of gets soft and delicious this looks really really nice i love how these are smaller because it just allows that sembat to get that much deeper into them [Music] we haven't been doing this right this is the best vada i've ever had and i love how creamy this is got to be from that butter again just making that rich kind of vegetable stew it tastes so much better it's just so good a little bit salty a little bit sweet a little bit spicy with the absolute best texture i've ever had on nevada man these guys are blowing my mind i really like that eating but this button bada is so much better the texture just makes it taste like such a hearty dish and then of course the chilis i'm a sucker for almost anything spicy this is amazing it's a heritage hotel it's been here for a long time for a reason i understand why this is amazing food the butt eatly and the butt and vada were incredible but this is the thing i was looking forward to the most this is hera dosa so it's got a lock it's got potato mint there's some green chili there's also some onion i'm gonna eat it right from the center part where it is the absolute most full i'm gonna try by itself first and then we're gonna get into these chutneys because i'm a chutney fiend [Music] that is hard to put into words how good that is i'm going to get in here just pull a big piece off i can already see the chilies oh there's some chili powder on there too okay let's try it that was so good the dosa is buttery and crunchy they've got this incredible soft texture on the inside it's spicy i mean this is just the perfect package of texture and flavor and spice i love the little bit of mint adds so much freshness to this the spice is perfection and this dosa has buttery crunchy freshness i gotta try this with some mint chutney because i just can't imagine how much better this is going to be that is so good that it's stupid that is the best mint chutney i have ever had in my life you mix that with the best dosa i've ever had in my life and you have an incredibly delicious thing going here i cannot get enough of this it's so good by itself but the way he raped about this chutney i've gotta have some of that too i'm gonna deep dive into this is that too much there's never too much that's gotta be the best chutney i've ever had too excellent advice the texture is amazing the freshness is like whenever it hits your tongue this is delicious i think we're gonna have to order another one just so we can eat more of this normally i'm gonna eat like a bite or two and try to talk so you guys know what the flavor is i'm not really worried about y'all right now i'm worried about getting some more of this in my mouth get all of the chutneys this time this is the best south indian breakfast i've ever had this is so incredibly amazing [Music] so we just had some really bad luck we did a ton of research to see who had the best helium in the city we figured out that it was 5-5-5 cafe we got there and found out they only do it during april so we're going to shoot everything else and eat everything else that we planned and just hope to god we find some believe on the way let's go try it [Music] right behind me is hotel that's where we're eating next this place has a lot of history opened up like in the 80s and it's famous but it's bitiani we're hoping we'll find helene since it didn't work out at cafe 55 but we're going to eat a lot of the stuff that the city is famous for right here this is an iconic restaurant in hyderabad let's go see it this place is so packed we went upstairs there are two different dining rooms both of them were completely full so we came back downstairs we found ourselves a seat it's time to eat some mutton pakistani i have no idea what this is but we saw it go to another table it's a bright green sauce so i'm excited i think this is like a mint curry to some degree that is so good mmm a little bit spicy this looks like hairy ollie chicken that perry ollie chicken came in gravy for i'm gonna get a nice big bite in here [Music] that is really good there are a lot of different flavors going on right here it's spicy it's a little bit creamy it really does have a strong mint flavor and then you have that mutton which is just tender and delicious i mean like really really good mutton that spice is just building and you can taste the menchie freshness from the coriander in here is adding to the fresh so so good and then there's cashews they give it a nice little crunch and just kind of help mellow everything out because it is very spicy but the meat oh my gosh the meat is so tender i was expecting it to have like a palak kind of flavor not at all it's spicy and it's tangy and it's got this really intriguing different flavor that i've never had before this is one of the best things i've had on this trip this is so good now it's time for the world famous hyderabadi biryani this is a mutton dum biryani and we have been looking forward to this for so long there are layers in this biryani and we've just been unfolding them as we were serving ourselves this comes with a raita and then just a little bit of gravy to put on top of it for more flavor i'm going to start with it exactly by itself i doubt it needs anything to make it better it is time to knock another food item off our bucket list i am so excited about haribari biryani ever since we started eating indian food this is something that i've had just in the back of my mind like i've got to try that someday here we are and we're about to try it oh that's really good mmm that is so delicious i was expecting this to be hot spicy but it is not it is just packed with spices there's so much flavor in this the rice is so tender the meat is incredibly supple there's some clove in here the onions that are kind of sauteed in here are sweet the combination of everything together is so good i'm gonna try it with some of this gravy but honestly it doesn't need anything to make it better that is some of the most tender rice i have ever put in my mouth and the spices there's so many of them there's so many things happening i don't really even know how to explain it i don't know what i'm tasting i just know that it's delicious i've smothered this with gravy i might have put too much but if it's as good as they say it is i am not worried about it [Music] that's nice it adds a little bit of freshness kind of a tang to it there's some mustard seeds in there a little bit of fenugreek more vegetables that's really really good it adds a whole different level of flavor i had a little food black out there and i nearly forgot to use this little gravy that they brought on the side this thing was a little bit of a surprise to me i wasn't expecting there to be a gravy because i've never seen that in hyderabad biryani i don't know if this is just this place's specialty or what but i'm excited this doesn't need any more flavor but hey nobody has ever said this has too much flavor so let's try it [Music] it's like a completely different dish this does not need any gravy it doesn't need any changes to it at all but it is a lot of fun being able to switch it up just a tiny bit here and there it's really delicious i think i'm picking up on a little bit of turmeric i know i taste some mustard seed in there as well it adds a lot of flavor but i like it just plain jane just how it comes mostly because the meat is just so tender and that rice is so flavorful it just doesn't need the help although if i hadn't eaten it this way first i would have never known and i was still sad that this is some of the best biryani i've ever had in my life that was absolutely amazing we still didn't find any helene but we had some of the best biryani of our lives now we're going to do a little sightseeing check out the charminar and food around there [Music] we finally made it to the charminar and this place is stunning i am consistently surprised by the architecture in india it is just beautiful it's been here since the 1500s and look at it it's amazing also there's some great shopping we've been looking for all kinds of stuff there's purses shoes everything you can imagine this is a neat little market now it's time to go find some food though let's go do it [Music] now we're at nimrod cafe and bakery and this is the busiest food stop here in charminar i'm not sure exactly what this is they gave us a whole plate of biscuits and some chai so i'm just gonna start with a big old bite this place smells like sugar that's what dreams are made out of right this is delicious i think there's a little bit of coconut in it lots of different kinds of nuts it crumbles apart in your mouth as soon as you bite into it i'm going to try it with some chai here because this is how it's supposed to be done it's so good this all on its own is delicious but when it soaks up this chai it's just amazing makes it a little bit creamy so so good this place is as famous for the chai as it is for the biscuits i'm going to start with that oh man that is really really good i need a pick-me-up i'm getting tired so i'm glad we found some chai but this is where it's at let's try these cookies too [Music] wow this has a ton of coconut flavor but it almost feels like cake on the inside and then when you throw in that dried fruit with it it just has a really really unique taste it's hard on the outside soft on the inside and just full of flavor this is one of the best biscuits or cookies that i've had in a really long time i better dip it i'm gonna get in trouble if i don't dip it you guys are gonna be yelling at me in the comments that is amazing i understand why this place is so packed these are great after chad took that bite i have to try this one too it's so gooey on the inside and crunchy on the outside this is delicious i love all the fruit from the texture that's amazing it might be my favorite but i don't know yet i haven't tried the classic so let's try this one that one's so good this is really really good too it almost reminds me of a sugar cookie from back home but i think this one is the winner it is amazing [Music] after the biscuits we decided to do a little bit more exploring and we were walking down the street and saw this fiery red chicken and i just knew this was our next stop this is chicken 65 this just came out of the fryer they just dropped this roti paratha off on the table so i'm going to try making myself a little bite with all of it getting some chicken getting some of that green chili that's so good wow so it's really spicy it's not as crunchy as i thought it was going to be coming right out of the fryer but that's not a bad thing this is a really really good and interesting texture it's really really soft supple chicken and it's got like this built-in flavor in the crust i think that it's not quite as crunchy because it's been marinating with whatever's turned it bright red and it's just this really unique delicious experience here it's also really good with this little mint dip that they served it with i love the combination of all of these together i think chad missed out by trying it with just the chutney that was good now we have tandoori chicken and this is different from any tandoori chicken we've ever had because they put it in the tan door and then they fry it and then they load it up with seasonings on the outside i'm gonna pull a chunk it comes off in perfect little nuggets too the way they slice it up [Music] so crunchy like out of this world crunchy and then so tender and juicy on the inside this looks absolutely incredible you can tell just by looking at it that it is going to be a really really crunchy piece of chicken so i got it loaded up with some lemon and some onion here let's try it [Music] oh my gosh [Music] that is so good spice is picking up a little bit ma'am i don't know what they put on the outside but it is hot that juicy inside of the chicken keeps me coming back for more this is really really delicious the crunch on that one is blowing me away right now you add that citrus and then more crunch from the onion and this is just like another explosion of flavors i don't know if i have a favorite between the two because the other one was so soft and this one is so crunchy but then moist on the inside i'm not gonna pick a favorite i love them both it was really amazing because it's not like you have fried chicken that you would normally get that's all battered up and it's not really tandoori chicken either it's kind of this fusion of both and you get both of the best worlds and it makes some of the best chicken i'm so glad that we let that little fiery red nugget of goodness catch our eye because it means that we got to have chicken 65 and then this absolutely dynamic delicious piece of tandoori chicken charminar was supposed to be our last stop but we still haven't found helene we've got two hot tips we're gonna try to find it tonight because we are leaving tomorrow we're flying out we want to make sure that we get it before we leave so the first place we're going to is pisha house let's go see if they have it we're walking down to pista house and this thing caught our eye it's really really unique it's uh kind of looks like a hot dog bun and there's tons of diced chicken and then there's cabbage and then as he was making this he kind of doused the bread with a butter and let it grill i'm interested i want to try this thing i'm excited it's probably the least favorite thing i've had today but it's not bad it just doesn't have the same flavor as like the chicken 65 or the bitiani it was interesting it caught my eye but it wasn't really a home run i would definitely eat this and it was cheap so i'll give it that but it's just not the best thing all day we just left pizza house and they don't have any haleem either we are headed to one more place this is our last hope if we don't find it here we have missed out on one of the best dishes of hyderabad we hope we find it [Music] all right guys good news and bad news we did not find haleem we are not going gonna get to try it and that is okay because this place is packed and any place that is packed makes good food so we know this is gonna be good we're starting with a nahadi mutton paya and this is a nahadi with a big delicious looking mutton foot i think i'm going to start by trying this nahadi and it's got some nice chunks of all kinds of different stuff there is little pieces of mutton it looks really really nice just a little bit of oil on top just how we like things here in india let's try it oh wow oh my gosh it's like a delicious mutton stew they were selling this nahari downstairs like crazy so we knew we had to have some this just looks amazing it looks kind of like a soup oh my gosh that is so good it's got so much flavor in this almost broth it's a little bit spicy there's a lot of herbs this is so herbaceous the mutton flavor is not over the top it's just this really subtle background flavor but it's absolutely delicious there are so many different flavors on my taste buds right now every time i bite down i'm getting another burst of freshness from those herbs i can kind of taste some ginger maybe a little bit of garlic in here too there's so many greens i don't know what all of them are but they are delicious that's something i could drink with a straw it's so good it coats your tongue it coats your mouth you start to feel the heat at the back of your throat this is absolutely phenomenal we've heard about the hottie so many times and we've just never had the opportunity to try it i'm so glad that we're getting to do it at india and i'm really glad that we're getting to do it here this is incredible stew i am so excited to have an opportunity to eat something that looks this interesting that is not something that you would normally see in the us they said it's for energy let's see okay you know what it's not that bad especially with this nahadi here it's got really great flavor but the texture isn't necessarily for me i think for energy i would rather stick with chai but this flavor was just over the top good this is amazing we also ordered a special chicken shawarma this came right off of that spigot and there's some nuts in here let's see what else we got this is good so chicken form isn't something that we would normally order but there are signs all over the place downstairs i actually thought this place had chicken shawarma in the name because special chicken shawarma is literally everywhere when you see something that frequently you just know you gotta try it i'm really excited about this i've never had this before i don't think so this is gonna be a new experience and i love those yes wow limey and spicy and crunchy from those nuts you can really taste the smoke coming through on here and then there's lots of greens in here too so many different fresh herbs and spices that spice is really kind of getting me spicing up my lips this is delicious i never thought about putting cashew nuts in what looks like a burrito i'm sure it would have been incredible on its own but actually putting that lemon and that onion on there gave it so much extra flavor and i'm shocked at how much i like that cashew in there i thought that chicken and cashew seem like a really strange combination and honestly it kind of is but it just works especially as spicy as this is because you really need something to kind of temper that just a little bit because this is lighten me up and you know what i want to be lit up let's do it again this dish is amazing i would love to know what spices what seasoning they're putting on this chicken to make it spicy and so flavorful this is one of my favorite things here it is because of the heat but it's also because of the way the chicken just sucks all of that moisture and this is really delicious it's making my mouth water so much it's 11 p.m and i am stuffed and tired but we are having biryani one more time before we leave hyderabad this time we're gonna go with chicken and i'm so excited that we're doing this even though i don't know how much i can eat i'm really hoping that this one will be spicier than the last one because that's what i expected out of hyderabadi biryani the last one was so good but it just didn't have enough kick to it for me let's see how this one does oh yeah this is amazing i am fascinated with the dumb birdiani process they have here there are so many layers and then they spice everything separately so it all has its own kind of flavor to it the chicken has an amazing seasoning coated on top of it and then that bottom layer of the rice just has so many different herbs in it and there's a little bit of vegetables and then there's like drippings from some different sauces chad loaded up my plate with the bottom layer because this is where all the flavor is packed i cannot wait to try it i'm just gonna go in with a big bite oh man look at that oh my god that is the kind of flavor that will wake you up forget the chai forget the coffee this is like making my heart race because it is so good man love equals food if this is what you're eating i haven't even had any chicken yet and i am just drooling while i'm trying to talk because this is so good the spice is amazing those herbs are very forward so you taste that too and then this basmati rice the way it just holds onto all the flavors so good they also brought out a gravy just like they did at shadab so i'm gonna try this as well i didn't like the gravy on it as much as i did just by itself over there but over here who knows i think every place has different tendencies different flavors so i'm really excited to see what this gravy does for this incredible biryani this is so good i really like the biryani we had earlier but if i had to pick between the two i'm definitely going to pick this one the chicken is just so tender that gravy had so much delicious flavor but the main thing is just the spice my lips are tingling my tongue is tingling everything about this is what i'm looking for in a good biryani this is so great we had such an adventurous day in hyderabad we were eating probably 11 12 hours we were looking everywhere for haleem and it made us so sad but there was one dish that made up for it that chicken biryani was fan freaking tastic it was really really good i've never had a video where i felt so happy with the food but still so bummed out by the fact that we didn't find the one thing that we searched for and searched for and searched for i mean it's not going to show up in the video but literally we probably spent three hours looking for helium today we can't say that it wasn't because we didn't try but it was still a wonderful day the food was really good i feel like i already know the answer to this but what was your favorite thing in fact i do know the answer so what was your first second third favorite thing first second third number one that chicken biryani okay holy moly that was good it was good my second was the pakistani mutton these flavors and that were just things i'd never put together before and that was just a lot of fun eating it and my third is also at the last place that we ate today that roll also with chicken the chicken shawarma yes really yeah some nuts in there that was just so delicious so much spice just excellent what were your three favorite dishes i like the chicken shawarma i'm not hating on it but it definitely wasn't a top three dish i'm with you on the chicken biryani i'm with you uh actually on the pakistani uh mutton that was also super super good that was my number two and my number three had to be that herabera dosa this morning for breakfast it surprises me that a dosa made it into the mix with that kind of meat overload today but man that was just delicious so another amazing video hyderabad you absolutely wowed us with
