so we're taking some lunch now early lunch it's 10 o'clock and we got one row logs all done guys are feeding their hungry bellies so this first course took what like two hours or two and a half hours to get all lined up all screwed down and then we're ready to roll after this we got most of the morning left on getting this porch deck done so that's the update right now i feel like the hard part's done when that first course is done we drilled all these holes into the basement or the crawl space for the wiring and the garage has some wiring too in this particular rancher we built short stem walls here underneath the logs so that the bottom of the log is the same as the bottom log of the house all comes across and this allows us to drill down for the electrical this was pre-drilled at the meadowlark facility we put a bit in there and we drilled down through here the electrician can pull wires underneath that stem wall for outlets those will be the garage doors in the front [Music] [Applause] so [Music] [Music] hmm [Music] [Music] bryce let's see that new toy [Music] bryce got a screw gun that's pretty awesome he's having way too much fun with it can't believe you pay me to use this [Laughter] thing it sure saves the knees that automatic [Music] gun [Music] so they're wrapping up the last of the porch here this has got the prowl front angled front so every piece has got to be cut at an angle [Music] the joist and the plank decking has to be cut at an angle [Music] colors that's good [Music] so we've got three rows on these will be the windows looking toward the mountains [Music] sadie she's enjoying this right sadie what do you think sadie she's talking a lot it's going well everything's fitting really well very happy with the notches we got all the electrical holes poked through there's a outlet for the outside on the porch [Music] there's an inside box an electrical box and cover will fit right into that cut out and the wire goes down through the floor [Music] so it's the end of the day and we're going to call this a good day's work tyler is putting in the last of the screws on row six we got the gasket on the logs ready for the morning to start with row seven foster's picking up the last of the trash there's a windows being form formed right there that was a good crane good operator nice pink douglas fir boards more like planks six rows for a house this size is a real good day let's have a walk through the garage man it's a big great room right here very spacious the garage doors right there some windows a man door over there entry door [Music] we're packing our tools in the trailer it's got a mess in there lots of toys i'm going to get a bird's eye view up [Music] here so we'll be ready to start back up in the morning it's a beautiful morning we are laying row seven the weather's been fantastic [Applause] so [Music] the guys are working like a clock tyler on the screw gun foster on the caulking gun bryce and matthew they're laying the logs and philip out here is hooking the logs and jethro out there somewhere on the other side he is putting gasket on the logs we're very tickled how this is going together yesterday was flawless every log fit perfectly [Music] so we're really happy about that the guys at meadowlark during the pre-assembly have been doing a really good job i see a lot of improvement i see a lot of uh things progressing with how they're doing the notching and how they're putting things together i think the package is better than ever really really happy about it so it makes our job on-site go faster ends up costing less train time when things go together well so quality is something we are striving for all the time [Music] oh [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so so [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay yay first cable down we'll get a brace on it that's a nice accomplishment for day two it's the end of the day this is day two on log set so let's have a look and see what we got done [Music] the logs out here are all the purlins and rafters for the roof beams [Music] we got the logs crossing all the windows and that is a good amount of work done for day two [Music] that's a nice pro lots of glass these double logs sticking over are for the overhang at the end of the house the roof overhang [Music] and the front too that porch is partially covered if that roof were to go all the way out past the porch we would have to put structure and trusses out front to hold it and that would kind of block some of the light some of the view so we stopped the overhang before you see it a little short so that's not a fully covered porch front porch but that's common it's not super important [Music] this is the back of the house [Music] they got a nice view here this is day three we're swinging the gable ends [Music] [Music] this morning we set the porch cut the headers and the posts up [Music] they're settling jacks on top of the post because this particular porch has to settle along with the log wallet rests on [Music] the header notches in the wall the wall in front of me settles a couple inches so those posts have to settle also some perches don't need settling jacks others do depending on the design [Music] this is evening of day four we got the porch roof mostly on we've got the loft joists in even though we call this a rancher it does have part of a loft for storage and to create a flat ceiling above the bathroom and entry [Music] we've got the guys putting on the tongue and groove in the garage the crane operator went home for the evening and tomorrow morning we'll finish the logs some purlins are still laying out here it's been a really nice day no wind just a little cool not too cold and the front of this place is looking really nice this morning we are finishing the log set let's check this cable out they're setting [Music] so so [Music] [Music] so we're going to lower that entire log gable down and they'll screw it in place these are incredibly strong wall systems they're all glued screwed and pinned together so kind of indestructible we've got a great lady crane operator she's she's been great really safe a lot of fillings ease that wall into place [Laughter] yeah yep perfect got it let's check it out see what the other guys are doing [Music] we've got foster and jethro doing some buffing let's show them what uh what you're doing there it's got a buffing wheel let's show them that buffy wheel let's show them the wheel this is a nylon bristled brush that takes the the slivers and everything off the logs makes the logs nice and smooth that we do that prior to varnish foster's getting ready to do some buffing in the garage we're going to varnish all of the garage walls and ceiling as well as a house this is how the ceiling looks so so so as you can see it's really sprawling got the garage coming in the great room in the center and the bedroom bathroom on the left side so it's going to be a really nice spacious home
