BIG Tricky Backyard Fir Removal!

[Music] all righty we got a big huge fir to do today so here's the Jag it's narrow dragged right here the backyard pretty tight quarters sense opens the inconvenient way - we got this big guy so a little over 40 inches in diameter 120 feet tall had to guess really not much of a drop zone for this gun so the problem with this tree is we're getting like 100% shut down tomorrow further notice and so we don't know when we're gonna come back so the goal is we're gonna try to brush this thing out and I talked to the the homeowner and told them you know you're gonna have a hundred foot totem pole for until further notice because they're shutting this down for it's at least two weeks and we don't know how much longer so we're gonna try to just get all the branches dealt with oh well not in one shot [Music] I'll make sure I mention that to Curtis just make sense yeah yeah okay taking off this section of the fence so that we don't like that will for sure snag branches will rip those right off and as per usual it's raining always reading forget what the sunshine was like I bet it was great yeah it's a big one yeah do once she sees your neck muscles you'll be able to keep her off yeah yeah okay yeah yeah yeah I wouldn't worry about that yeah yeah yeah yeah well we're not gonna oh Willy oh really huh yeah I'll keep my eye out yeah yeah all right well we're gonna get started so here we go [Applause] so this thing's big these branches are huge I'm gonna go first I'm gonna go all the way to the very top of the tree and I'm gonna set a pulley a block Delorme all down to this side look at this thing barely use that and I'm gonna go up this side but I'll lower the rough down set my rigging on the other side you see was truth top right about here this is a good example of why you don't want to chop your trees so you top it to make it shorter but it ends up happening is the top grows up super fast and all the food that was going to go there goes to the sides and you get these huge gigantic branches down at the bottom portion of the tree so in the long term you actually make your tree bigger uglier less stable this kind of compartmentalize are closed up kind of best-case scenario actually looks kind of good this one looks kind of solid but this is and what they call an epic Cormack chute it just grows off the side this is not a strong top eventually this thing will fail oh it's been cabled great see this tree was cabled right here see these cables fall this is just like a eyeball it just screws in right here like a wood screw these things rip right out alright so I'm at the top now and I want to set my block right here and I want to tie in here so we're not interfering with each other I'm just going to include this whole thing and I'm gonna start lowering this down so guys will you uh I get the block in the rigging line and I'll just fish this whole thing brian is that down to the ground yet ten feet to go [Applause] all right you're gonna pull that up yep yep got it around I like these ultra slings cuz he just there it through the nearest loose that's that around so that so it's out of the way of it so let's wrap that round hooking this up opening the block I like to let the guys know I'm opening the block cuz if I drop it no it's only weighs a pound I rigged a asset I'm gonna fish this back down and have the guys clip that your equip this to the GSEs there you go I'm gonna clip both of these to my d-ring because I don't want them to snag a branch and fall down and hit me so now we should go back to the bottom start working our way up all right be good it's gonna be frustrating for them either way these things are huge everything okay one make that as small as possible [Applause] serious hangers in here [Music] [Music] my words alright go [Music] we could crank it up maybe it was maybe it would get better let's give it a shot this is what's nice about the GRC s you can we have the option to lift this thing up huh nice okay with poor go what and they go you're not six me day come on why you got the hots let's do it I used to be able to touch the rim is what the cut my chiropractor calls him touching the rim rim how are you gonna piece all that together yeah he makes you pay for it [Music] you know what the rib is connected to everything once we get the rim straightened out setting you up for failure we could take that come on
