FINAN HAS A LOOK AT MAYBE SOME CHANGES AHEAD. RIGHGHT, MARK. SO YOU LOOK AT SONORA AREAS LIKE EAST SONORA, WHICH IS JUST A LITTLE BIT HIGHER, MAY EVEN GET A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW BY EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. MORE ON THAT HERE IN A MINUTE. THIS IS THE WAY IT LOOKS IN SACRAMENTO. WE HAVE BLUE SKY, 65 DEGREES, A CLOUD OR TWO. WE WILL SEE A FEW MORE CLOUDS COME OUR WAY AS WE GO THROUGH THE NIGHT, AND TEMPERATURES WON'T BE QUITE AS COOL TONIGHT AS THE LAST FEW NIGHTS. BY MIDNIGHT WE WILL STILL BE IN THE LOW 50S, WHEREAS LAST NIGHT WE WERE IN THE 40S. BUT IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO DO OUTDOORS THIS EVENING, EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE JUST FINE. HERE'S THE WEATHER SYSTEM WE'RE LOOKING AT. THIS IS NOT LIKE AN ATMOSPHERIC RIVER OR PINEAPPLE EXPRESS OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SYSTEMS THAT IS PURELY GOING TO BE DRIVEN BY THE MOISTURE THAT WE DO HAVE, BEING DRIVEN UP THE HILL. SO IN OTHER WORDS, THE FOOTHILLS AND SIERRA ARE GOING TO SEE A LOT OF PRECIPITATION, WHEREAS THE VALLEY FLOOR WON'T SEE ALL THAT MUCH. LET'S GO THROUGH THE TIMING. THIS IS TOMORROW MORNING, SO THE MORNING COMMUTE IS DRY. WE'RE ALSO DRY IN THE SIERRA. IF YOU DO WANT TO TRAVEL THROUGH THE SIERRA, THE MORNING HOURS WILL BE OKAY. NOW. LET'S GO UP TO ABOUT NOONTIME. THE VALLEY IS STILL DRY, ALTHOUGH THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A SHOWER OR TWO. WE'RE STARTING TO SEE SOME RAIN IN THE FOOTHILLS. SNOW IN THE SIERRA, THE SNOW LEVEL. TOMORROW, RIGHT AROUND 4500FT. BY NOONTIME WE WILL LIKELY HAVE CHAIN CONTROLS IN EFFECT. SO THE VERY EARLY MORNING HOURS ARE STILL GOING TO BE OKAY FOR TRAVEL. ALL RIGHT. BUT FOR THE VALLEY YOU CAN SEE THAT MANY AREAS ARE DRY AT NOONTIME. LOOKS LIKE THE BEST RAIN WE'RE GOING TO SEE IN THE VALLEY TOMORROW IS GOING TO BE IN THE AFTERNOON AND FOR THE EVENING COMMUTE. YOU CAN SEE THE RAIN HERE UP AND DOWN INTERSTATE 80 AND ALL THE WAY INTO THE DELTA, INCLUDING AREAS LIKE AUBURN. AND THEN THAT AREA OF RAIN SLIDES TO THE SOUTH, GETTING INTO AREAS IN TUOLUMNE COUNTY BY 7:00, OF COURSE, STILL SNOWING IN THE SIERRA AS WE GO THROUGH THE NIGHT, THE VALLEY STAYS DRY. THE SNOW CONTINUES. IT'S 11:00 ON THURSDAY NIGHT. LET'S GET INTO THE DAY ON FRIDAY. YOU CAN SEE THESE OCCASIONAL SHOWERS GO BY THE VALLEY SO YOU CAN PLAN ON WET ROADS FOR THE MORNING COMMUTE. ON FRIDAY. OF COURSE, THE SNOW IS NONSTOP, BUT DURING THE DAY ON FRIDAY, THE VALLEY JUST SEES THESE HIT AND MISS SHOWERS. THAT'S NOONTIME AND SAME THING IN THE AFTERNOON. JUST HIT AND MISS RAIN. THAT'S 5:00. SO WHILE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT NONSTOP SNOW IN THE SIERRA FOR THE LOWER ELEVATIONS, THE RAIN IS GOING TO BE HIT AND MISS. IT MIGHT RAIN FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS, THEN STOP. AND THAT'S WHAT WE'LL KEEP THE TOTALS DOWN. SO THAT'S 5:00 ON FRIDAY. BUT WATCH WHAT HAPPENS FRIDAY NIGHT. THIS NEXT LINE GOES BY. SEE THIS LINE RIGHT HERE. THAT'S A PERIOD OF HEAVIER RAIN. IT REALLY DOES REPRESENT SOME COLDER AIR. SO WATCH WHAT HAPPENS AS THIS GETS INTO THE FOOTHILLS AS IT GOES BY THAT SNOW LEVEL DROPS. SO THIS IS HOW WE GO FROM THE SNOW LEVEL AT 35 DOWN TO THE SNOW LEVEL AROUND 25. JUST WATCH WHAT HAPPENS HERE IN TUOLUMNE COUNTY. YOU SEE THAT THAT SNOW LEVEL JUST DROPS DOWN SO EARLY SATURDAY MORNING IS WHEN WE MAY WAKE UP TO SOME OF THAT SNOW IN LOWER ELEVATIONS. AND THEN SATURDAY ONCE AGAIN IS ONE OF THOSE DAYS. WE HAVE ON AGAIN, OFF AGAIN SHOWERS. BUT FOR THE SIERRA FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, WE'LL CALL THOSE ALERT DAYS BECAUSE OF HEAVY SNOW, THE WINDS CAUSING BLINDING, BLOWING SNOW. DANGEROUS TRAVEL WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF SIERRA ROADS ARE CLOSED FOR THE VALLEY. OCCASIONAL SHOWERS THE NEXT FEW DAYS. QUITE A BIT COOLER. SUNDAY LOOKS LIKE A MOSTLY DRY DAY. SHOULD BE A COUPLE OF SHOWERS IN THE AREA ON MONDAY. TUESDAY ELECTION DAY. LOOKS LIKE WE'LL HAVE SOME RAIN AND MAYBE A LITTLE BIT MORE NEXT WEDNESDAY. SO WHILE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THIS BIG SNOW FOR THE SIERRA AND REALLY TOUGH TRAVEL, BUT FOR THE VALLEY, I WANT TO GET OFF AGAIN. SHOWERS TO THE
