Big Catfish on Small Catfish Bait

hey folks unbeaten my home do you think that trophy catfish prefers small baits after the spawn stay tuned in this video we're going to talk about [Music] one of the things I found that after the spawn for whatever reason they seem to hit smaller baits I'm not sure it's nothing she can't catch my big baits I've caught them on big baits and always put out big bait but it seems like most of the fish hits smaller baits I don't know if it's because they're keying in on mussels during that time period or some of the smaller shad that are around I'm not really sure what it is but for different reason they're hitting on the smaller baits now that's not say don't put out big baits and if you're trying to eliminate smaller fish definitely get with big bass and you may not catch any fish but the fish I've been catching lately have been decent size fish they're in the teens 20s and 30s and they're very capable of eating these larger baits no problem whatsoever with taking a minute swallowing but for whatever reason they're hitting smaller stuff right now fish about 15 minutes since that one pulled off this one came out of the deeper water trees and stuff over in there so I'm trying to keep it up out of that he-she underneath anchor right we can do some magic here do with the ants around the anchor fish away from that anchor you actually just swam into the boat let me get this perjure draw it out of the way I've got the fish up off the bottom so that's good big splash big splash came up after our little ways away oh look at him go look at him go catch love is a flat air blues a little bit of color and got away from me oh there he is it's a good blue that's a blue I need to knit big thick mail good-looking fish good fish yeah good-looking blue cat good-looking very good-looking blue came out with some deeper water just on a regular peg float Sam TV good dish nice fish nice blue big male look like you've cleaned up and healed up from the spawn and I'm doing some feeding ironically both fish so far have hit small baits and when I didn't catch and when I did a catch both became on small baits I've got eight rods out two of them have a really big baits two of them have small baits and the rest of them have kind of some medium-sized stuff came on small bait so we'll see if we can get hooked into another one and see what fate they're taking all right hook just going to really in baits here make a little move few hundred yards and sort of splash and what I'm like a it's like I got this little small fish he's wisker hooked he's going back quick release really quick release he's whisker hooked barely hooked on that one Santi rigged pack float hookers colonel tackle rattle small piece of bait that one was up shallow it's been about 30 minutes since we caught that last fish I decided to give it just a little bit here and I had one other bite I'm gonna just go try someplace near here a little different structure on it and just see if there's any better by I don't think it's gonna be that much greater that much better just something a little bit different it's the middle of the night now it's almost 1 o'clock in the morning and I'm gonna go anchor up in a place that's normally a high boat traffic area and we normally don't get to fish it suppose you get run over by boats but be able to do it here in the middle of the night see chocolate all right I'm pretty sure we got one swimming off with the bait here the bigger bait to think it's there dadgum thing moved off in one direction that's for sure I think that's the problem at the back end of it off mmm put a new one on there bet the whole back into the crappy alpha didn't hook up that's two we've had pull loose tonight man that's uh that's fishing that's just the way it goes especially when you start fishing this is the only bike we've had on a big big bait and not all of those smaller fish are capable of getting those big baits in your mouth so here's what it is rebate this one get it back to the water alright guys got one get one it's a decent fish third spot of the night been sitting here probably come to the top I've been sitting here about 30 minutes no bites and I felt the boat move I don't think it's a super huge fish keep him out of the anchor oh it's to the other side that was a super risky crazy crazy move to get him over here went down and underneath the anchor I've got a rock pile right here here it's kind of what I'm fishing on swimming and spinning like a blue cat whilst like fish pop one of my cords looser on the light come on for that second finger BAM okay why it's gonna take a little bit of a repair job you're looking fish that nice blue good-looking fish getting back a lot there you go there's another fish that came on a small bait every one of the big bass that I've had out I hadn't connected and caught a fish show them had the one that carried it off but no hook-up on me yet so the big fish just not like big baits this time of the year I don't know it's hard to say you can always catch them on them you can always find one it's a good way to eliminate smaller fish but for whatever reason right now the fish that are biting the fish that we're catching at least here this part of the lake are coming on smaller baits I will continue to fish the small baits but I'll also put some big ones out here just so when I see that
