Big Adventures Start Small - I Bought a Pocket Cruiser.

we're going to look at a sailboat today I've been wanting one for a long time and I finally saved the money for it last year dad and I built a sailing canoe with a latine rig it's fun sailing around the buou in a boat you've built yourself she can be a little squirely but for not knowing what we were doing I think we did pretty well for my birthday last year mom and dad got me a class with the Pensacola sailing Academy we went out for 3 or 4 days to learn the basics of sailing ever since I took the class I've been wanting to get my own sailboat and a few months ago I started looking for one this is a Ranger 23 made in 1974 this is the same kind of boat that Sam Holmes sailed from San Francisco to Hawaii a few years back they are solid boats and this one has been very well taken care of and the previous owner Bob has been very generous and helpful thank you Bob interesting y life vests and first aid kits and a dust pan the that's what Compass uh boy that's pretty after looking this sailboat over everything looked great to me I think this is the one I designed all this you slide it up so when your motor's there you slide it up you know and it rise fairly High I usually tie it off so it couldn't fall off but it never has seller put your name there there mhm and put your address did you count it let yeah I'm just going to count it one 2 3 and like I said I is it actually I never thought I'd be happy selling this boat but because of you so I thank you for that now to the um Locker that has the the uh table in it and I think it has a couple of it might have a hose or something I nothing important um and that's the slip you're going to go to between now and you know you got to have your own you got a 50-year-old boat with a owner's manual you got newsletters for the class for years um you've got line drawings from the uh designer with his name on it there are several sets of documentation of of Renovations not everything but the ones the major ones line drawings for the custom made trailer you won't get that much on a 50-year-old B so hopefully you will enjoy it this one I absolutely love it I had to call my daughter and tell her it wouldn't be here when she lives in St Louis I said when you come back it won't be here the fact that you want it that that affected me yeah because I didn't want some guy that just doesn't care but you do know what boat stands for don't you no do you know sir I don't think so I don't either boat stands for bring on another thousand and I can see that yeah it gets real expensive real quick seal it before you put in the water that'll take you a day have the straps here we'll use them to kind of get it in place and then we'll run them under to the other side back so she's currently on a trailer and we've got to use the Hoist to lift and move her into the water oh yeah we got there God it's it's still sitting on top of seeing my new boat dangling over the concrete like that made me a bit nervous okay now somehow I've got to get this but everything went smoothly and I was happy to see that she didn't sink of course we got the wind holding it away from supposedly you're supposed to shake those up occasionally cuz they drop out and get back down have fun see like if that's the Marine control I need the Coast Guard 15 [Music]
