[Applause] i think heading into the timberwolves series the mood of the fan base was excited but there was also like this underlying anxiety maybe where people were thinking about during the season we played this timberwolves team and they played us really tough they they gave us a big l early in the season and that sort of helped spur this grizzlies team to become what they became i think the fans knew heading into this series against the timberwolves that this was not going to be an easy series despite being the two seed in the in the west [Applause] [Music] it was going to take work and it was going to be against a very good and improving timberwolves team they're being physical it's a physical game out there yeah they're being physical [Music] i think their personnel gave us problems they got some good defenders in their lineup they got some good length and size they were just super active they tried to take away the paint on us that's really where we thrive that's like every playoff series you gotta adjust and figure something out stay together we're good good heads up good good one game bro we knew it was going to be a tough matchup against the wolves super talented team tons of physicality with a chip on their shoulder to want to take us out minnesota a one game to none lead over the memphis grizzlies but the crowds are here at fedex forum it will be loud it will be raucous and they'll be waving towels and saying there's no running in the m this is a grizzlies team that has been brazilian all season long they'll draw on that again tonight they cannot allow the timberwolves to push them around and be the dictator they got to go out and match the physicality like i said earlier they got to throw the first one let's go win baby they want to hit first they want to involve this crowd as much as they can and by doing that the grizzlies have to play their style of basketball britain grind 2.0 we ain't gonna run though we ain't running all these all these balls are giving us extra possessions all these 50 50 balls are gonna actually possess when you go edwards drives watch them all hits them by williams fourth minnesota turnover tyus jones defense right now he said it would be more business right here in his basketball game and ain't going to be just that watch him coming out guys get up get up [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] the banner there's the 10th assist miranda's third career playoff double double timeout taken by minnesota the lead is 29. this is what i'm talking about right here bring it to minnesota bring this to minnesota that'll bring it to minnesota heading into that game three the series is tied you're trying to win back homeport advantage by taking one in minnesota and the way that game three started it was nerve-racking you look at it and you're like oh man we're gonna go down two to one you start thinking about all right what are the different options here we're gonna have to do things differently what are we gonna do there were several times in that game three where i thought this is over it's done we're gonna lose game three and go down two one minnesota by 21 in the final minutes of the third quarter [Music] come on [Applause] jones working around the screen a pull-up three down and the grizzlies have the lead for the first time tonight feel like i'm watching gladiators differently emotions [Applause] it is the greatest turnaround and grizzlies playoff history this was as remarkable as a grizzlies win as you will ever see come on boy two more man two more two more the grizzlies losing in game four a one point win for minnesota series is even going back it wasn't really as impactful because they had won game three and gotten home court back basically and yeah now you've shortened the series now it's a three-game series the next team to win two games is going to win the series and you've got home court [Music] it was a tough matchup for us you know what they threw at us defensively their physicality the pressure that they put on all of our actions offensively you know all five of their guys especially with their top players and edwards and russell and towns could just light it up any given night we had our hands full [Applause] i gotta set some screens right now we've set some screens it drags it big out gets the defenders off our handlers and we can cut back and attack down with a little bit more ease so we can attack with the drive a little bit more starting here i'll start here so my man was blind like you can't see where the so proud of our guys preparation the ability to adjust game to game the ability to adjust within a game is one of the biggest takeaways i had from that series [Music] [Music] grizzlies need a bucket here downhill into the lane he hangs it oh my goodness he jumps right over malik beasley with a right-handed hammer oh lord that was phenomenal morant with the highlight reel dunk that may just bring this team back into this one we never felt like we were out of any game we never felt like we couldn't overcome any obstacle you always had that belief in one another it's just the resiliency in the fight of this team brooks didn't shoot the three feet right corner bane open look at a triple bring it up put three on the board for desmond bain we just all stay together no matter what we never gave up we never thought any game was out of our hands clark gets his own miss and lays it home he took it away from vanderbilt it's a one-point game 99-98 bursty was hitting us we always bounced back even stronger moran against russell hangs got the balance with 19 in the game seven on the quarter at the end of the day the grizzlies needed somebody to score and to get them back in the game and jaw just did what he's we've seen him do what he's done all season just took over [Applause] [Applause] here in the fourth quarter it's almost in retrospect you look back at it you're like oh my gosh that guy the fourth quarter what he did was incredible but in the moment you look at him you're like oh it's just jobby and jaw and they got down to that last play the grizzlies can win it with a bucket right here brooks the inbound for morant he gets by edwards into the lane at vanderbilt [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] one more man stuck together whether the storm what we do let's get it man going back today let's get it heading into game six the the way that grizzlies had played taking that game five coming from from so far back they had all the momentum heading into that game six and if it goes game seven you're at home great but you don't want that like you wanna in the series whenever you can and i think for the grizzlies having that game six having the momentum being able to go into minnesota it just felt like it was set up for the grizzlies to win that game shot clock down to three marantz pius against the shot clock for sweet it's through tyus jones with ice water in his veins delivering a three at the expiration of the shot clock grizzlies the victory over the minnesota timberwolves a third double-digit comeback in the fourth quarter of a playoff series and the grizzlies will go on to the second round of the nba playoffs for the first time since 2015. i'm just happy man i'm happy for these guys i'm happy for the city i'm happy from memphis this is for them perfect example six games of compete together get better super proud of you guys yes sir it only gets harder from here you gotta put this in the rear view mirror soon lock in on golden state tonight enjoy
