hey y'all i'm thomas with chrono 24 in new york and i have a confession to make i have a small wrist if you're like me you've noticed that large watches have been the norm for years but not everyone is seven feet tall with a sledgehammer for a wrist if you have a smaller than advertised wrist i see you i love you i feel your pain thankfully there are many many great watches out there on the market for people just like us [Music] now let's pause for a second do a quick little wrist check today i am wearing my lecoltra powermatic for the 1950s it measures 35 millimeters in diameter but has some hefty lugs to add a bit more presence than that number alone would imply for reference my wrist is six and a half inches in circumference or approximately 16 and a half centimeters today we are looking at strong options for watches across a range of styles measuring 36 millimeters in diameter why 36 millimeters well it is a classic and gentlemanly size and it's one that nearly anyone can pull off the watches we're looking at today are approachable in price but they're watches that will even fit into a mature collection and they're ones that you won't need to replace as your budget grows let's start with the tudor black bay 36 this watch comes from rolex's sister brand and many would agree that the black bay 36 shares the same watch dna as the rolex explorer one here you have a highly legible design with tutors signature snowflake hands and some loomed indices the black bay 36 is a bit of a go anywhere do anything type of watch because not only do you have rugged elements like a screw down crown oyster style bracelet and 150 meters of water resistance but you also have a case and dial design that can dress up easily when called upon not to mention it's what we call a strap monster in the industry because it works on a metal bracelet a nato strap a leather strap or whatever you prefer with new options on chrono 24 starting between two and a half to three and a half thousand it is towards the top of what i would consider the entry level range but keep in mind the black bay 36 could be the only watch you need if you have ever seen a listicle of affordable watches chances are seiko was included in that list and yes we are recommending a seiko of sorts today but we're adding a twist and going vintage grand seiko specifically check out the 56gs series from the early 1970s this watch is packed with charm and japanese precision sporting a clean dial design and a beautiful angular case you can find examples with a date no date or even day and date versions with kanji characters for the days of the week price-wise these are readily available for as little as a thousand dollars on corona 24 not bad for grand seiko and not bad for something that will get the knot of approval from even seasoned collectors next up is the nomus tengente now truth be told you could choose any number of watches from nomos since small and affordable is really their sweet spot as the company let's talk today about the tenendante because it embodies the brand's signature bauhaus design language and it comes in multiple colors and multiple sizes including 33 35 and 37 and a half millimeters this clean and forever contemporary watch is easy to dress up or down and the slim case profile sits low on the wrist which is great if your shirt or jacket cuffs are a little bit more fitted and because it's noma's you get a watch with inspired design and an in-house movement for only one or two thousand dollars omega omega omega this storied brand has a lot of options for the slim roasted particularly their seamaster line vintage seamasters are perhaps your best option for finding a precious metal dress watch on budget if you want something on the sporty side i'd say their most popular one will be their 36 millimeter seamster 300m which is a very capable watch without the gargantuan dive watch proportions but one you may also want to consider especially if you already have a dive watch is the pre-bond omega sea master 200 m these watches were produced between 1987 and 1995 before omega excuse me omegaz association with the james bond franchise began this is admittedly not the best all-around seamaster in terms of build quality but it does include unique features like an integrated bracelet and a wetsuit extension on the clasp you have a couple options here for specs but i would recommend going with an automatic movement over a quartz and choosing these sword hands over the rolex-ish mercedes-style hands we are down to our last watch on the list today and i'm gonna cheat a bit here we've thrown a couple deep pads at you but let's bring it home with the king in the crown at the very very top of what could be considered entry level is the rolex datejust now with prices starting at roughly 5 000 on chrono 24 it is certainly a stretch budget wise but as you know the date just is classic it is versatile it is timeless and it is downright indisputable not to mention you have a wide variety in terms of dial bezel and numeral combinations so even for a popular watch like the datejust you can make it your own if you're willing to save a bit more and or finance this watch over time then consider the datejust it will last forever you can pass it down to your own kids and you've got to rolling on the wrist my friend now i'm sure there
