latest tech products if that sounds like something that interests you go ahead and hit the subscribe button and toggle notifications to all so you don't miss out on all the cool new features today we're taking a look at some of the best accessories for the 12.9 inch ipad pro 2021 edition however while i'm showing these accessories with the 12.9 inch ipad pro many of these accessories will also be compatible with older versions of the ipad as well as smaller ipads as well the ipad hasn't had expandable storage since forever and while you can now get ipads with up to two terabytes of storage that gets really pricey really fast and the vast majority of people are probably gonna get the 128 gigabyte version or the 256 gigabyte version well if you want more storage space and you don't want to pay a big premium for it then i recommend the nectech microsd card to usbc and standard usb adapter this is an extremely tiny adapter and it's excellent for those of you who want to maybe edit gopro footage on the go or you want to check dashcam footage after an accident or maybe you have a trail cam that you want to check without having to bring a big laptop with you just bring your ipad bring this guy pop the micro sd card out of the trail cam pop it in here and then plug it into your ipad and there you go you can view the footage right there another great use for this would be to store a bunch of movies for a long trip you're going to go on without having to eat up all the storage space on your ipad and those are all great uses for this and it's awesome that it's small but what's even cooler is how the micro sd card fits inside you just flip up the standard usb port cover and insert the micro sd card directly into the usb port now you can plug the standard usb side into any laptop or if you have something like a macbook that has usb c ports just plug the usb c side in now you can transfer all of your movies or any information any data you want can be transferred from the computer to your micro sd card then you can plug the usb c side into your ipad and have all of your data right there then when you want to take your micro sd card out all you have to do is push this little slider and the micro sd card pops right out if you want to transfer data from a standard size sd card like from a dslr then i recommend this card reader instead it's still super compact but you do get standard sd and micro sd card support and you also have more connector options as well you get a lightning port on one side a usbc port on the other side a standard usb port in the middle and the usb port folds down to reveal a micro usb port as well i'll have links in the description to both of these if you want to pick one of them up for yourself next i want to talk about chargers apple ships a 20 watt charger with the ipad pro but the ipad pro is capable of charging at 30 watts so if you want 50 faster charging there's a few options you could go with you could get apple's official 30 watt charger but that doesn't come with the usb-c cable or for the same money you could get samsung's 45-watt charger which does come with a usb-c cable now while samsung's charger is 45 watts you'll still only get 30 watts of charging on your ipad because that's all the ipad supports however since this is a 45 watt charger for the same price as the apple charger this does let you charge other devices at 45 watts if they support that charge speed and i did test this charger out with the ipad and a little power meter and i saw that it was indeed charging the ipad with the full 30 watts that it's capable of if you want to get real crazy with the charging and you have multiple devices that you want to charge then i recommend this beast this is the link on 166 watt charger that's right 166 watts through these four ports so the way this works is you can get a hundred watts out of either of the two usbc ports and 18 watts out of each of the two standard usb ports so if you're charging a laptop that supported 100 watts and you plug it into the top one there's 100 watts right there then you could plug your ipad in and get a full 30 watts charging on your ipad at the same time then you can plug into other devices and get 18 watt fast charging on both of those devices at the same time for a total of 166 watts the prongs also fold in to make it easier to travel with but i must say it is a pretty beefy charger i mean by comparison here's the charger that comes with the ipad in the box so it's a 20 watt charger and your 166 watt charger pretty big difference in size and speaking of traveling there's also two adapters that come with this charger one of them is a uk adapter and all you do is make sure that the prongs are folded in then you just slide this right on top and now you have a uk plug and the last adapter is for the eu so that just slides on in the same manner and now you can use this in the eu if 20 watt charging is fast enough for you but you'd rather have a much smaller charger to bring along with you when you go on a trip then i'd recommend anker's 20 watt charger by comparison here is apple's 20 watt charger right next to it and it's a considerable difference in size and here it is next to apple's 5 watt charger which is almost the exact same size but the anchor charger is 4 times as powerful and i did test the anchor charger out with this little power meter and i noticed that the anchor charger was actually delivering about 18.9 watts on average compared to the 17.4 i was getting out of apple's official charger i do also want to mention that the build quality on the anker charger is incredible it really does feel very solidly built if you want to take crazy fast charging on the go then i'd recommend the manonam 73 watt car charger the usb c port supports up to 55 watts for devices that support that charge rate but for the ipad pro you will be limited to the 30 watts that the ipad is capable of then you also get an 18 watt standard usb port on the bottom and both of these can use their max charge rates at the same time so if you had a laptop that supported 55 watt charging you could plug that in with usbc and charge your iphone at 18 watts which is your iphone's fastest charge rate as well at the same time the build quality on this is incredible this is all solid aluminum and there's even a rubber grip on the side to keep it cool to the touch and to make it easier to take in and out of the 12 volt port and after a few long charging sessions with devices that supported 45 watts i noticed that this didn't get very hot which means mnm did a great job of making this very efficient and as a bonus man and am also included a 5 amp capable usb c cable it's important to know that not all cables are created equal so just because you have a usbc cable doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get the maximum charge rate possible so it's great to see that many m included this right in the box while we're talking about car stuff this headrest mounted tablet holder is excellent for anyone who takes long road trips with kids these two arms grab onto the headrest bars and these arms expand to fit your ipad by pulling these strings here this mount also has a ball joint and if you loosen this collar you can adjust the angle of your ipad to whatever you need and this is particularly useful for angling your ipad sideways if there's going to be two kids watching the same ipad then once you've set your angle just tighten the collar back down and this will be rock solid and the arms of this mount stretch far enough to support the 12.9 inch ipad pro with a pretty beefy case on it that even has support for the apple pencil on top of the case bottom line this mount should support any case you've got on your ipad pro and if you're curious about this specific case stay tuned because i'm going to be talking about it in a minute and in case you're wondering the mount does close down small enough to securely hold an iphone 12 pro max and even an iphone se and on the bottom there is even a cutout to plug in a power cord now let's take a look at some of the best keyboard cases for the ipad pro if you don't mind spending a lot of money and you want a pretty cool case then apple's magic keyboard might be the way to go for you the ipad snaps into place using incredibly strong magnets so much so that i'm not concerned about the ipad falling off even if i flip it upside down and shake it around seeing this in person is pretty cool because it does look like your ipad is literally just floating above the keyboard but while that looks really cool i wouldn't say it's really necessary because it's only raising the ipad up by about a half inch to an inch and i didn't notice a difference in comfort using the magic keyboard versus any of the other keyboards i'm going to show you in terms of tilt you do have a pretty limited range but it is good enough for most use cases unfortunately there's no way to orient this for use with the apple pencil not even to lay it flat so you really do need to take your ipad out of the case if you want to have an enjoyable experience with the apple pencil there's a usbc port on the side that routes power through the case into the smart connector on the back of your ipad so you can charge it and connect another peripheral at the same time unfortunately the port on the case is strictly for charging and can't be used with peripherals in terms of protection the front and back of your ipad will be pretty well protected as well as the bottom but the other three edges of the ipad are going to be really exposed and won't be protected at all if you accidentally drop this the keyboard itself is excellent it's tactile it has backlit keys that can have the brightness changed in the settings on your ipad and while it's a bit cumbersome to change the brightness settings on your ipad it's really not necessary because the default settings have been great for me in all lighting conditions the keyboard is also lappable as long as you keep your hands on the keyboard once you lift your hands it starts to fall over however if you switch your position to where your legs are more upright like sitting with your feet up on a couch or a bed the tipping issue goes away the touchpad is also excellent scrolling works as good as most laptops i've used and clicking feels great no matter where you press down on the pad even in the corners the touchpad also has gesture support which is extremely useful the material for the magic keyboard feels kind of like a rubberized plastic and it is a fingerprint grease and dirt magnet it is really hard to keep this thing clean and it's even hard to clean it when it does get dirty the one notable downside with the magic keyboard is that there are no function keys but if you could look past that issue and the steep price point then this is an excellent keyboard case if you're looking for a keyboard cover that offers more protection more orientations and a 120 lower price point then i recommend checking out logitech's combo touch keyboard the keys feel as good as apple's magic keyboard are also backlit but add a full row of function keys for quick actions that include a home button tablet brightness controls a button to bring up or dismiss the on-screen keyboard a finder shortcut backlit key brightness controls media playback and volume controls and a lock button the trackpad is slightly larger than what you get on the magic keyboard supports the same gestures as the magic keyboard and can also be clicked in all corners just like the magic keyboard in terms of materials logitech went with a fabric material which is much less likely to get smudgy with fingerprints compared to the magic keyboard the most significant difference between these two keyboards is how the logitech case works it's a two-part case that's held together magnetically the three prongs at the center of the keyboard route to the smart connector so the keyboard can get power the magnets hold on very well but you'll notice that the hinge isn't rigid like the magic keyboard so the keyboard will flop down when you pick up the ipad even still you won't have to worry about the keyboard falling off the ipad itself is secured into a hard rubber like shell to protect it on all four sides and there's a notch at the top for the apple pencil i have no fear of my ipad falling off a table with this case on there's a friction hinge on the back of the case to stand the ipad up and this can be adjusted to literally any angle you need and since the case detaches from the keyboard you can flip it over and use it in writing mode something that's not possible with the magic keyboard alternatively you can rotate the ipad around and snap it back into place backwards on the keyboard if you want to keep the keyboard with you and when you close the case magnets hold it closed so it doesn't accidentally open when you're carrying it around the two main disadvantages to the logitech keyboard compared to the magic keyboard is that you don't get the usbc passthrough and it does take up more desk space since you need the stand in the back to keep the ipad up bottom line these are both excellent cases but if i personally had to pick just one i'd go with a logitech case to save some money and get a more protective and more flexible case some of you guys are probably curious about apple's smart keyboard folio case and so was i so i picked one up to test out and at first i really didn't like this keyboard at all my first impressions were horrible the keyboard was just super mushy feeling and i just didn't feel very precise with the keys like it just kind of felt like i wasn't sure if the key was actually pressed all the way down or not and it honestly kind of felt like one of the worst keyboards i've ever used for any tablet ever however after using it for a few days i did start to get a little used to the mushy keys i still much prefer the magic keyboard or the logitech keyboard cover but this was at least usable after a few days of kind of getting used to the way that these keys feel outside of the keyboard itself it is actually a pretty nice case because these magnets hold on really strong so you can actually just pick it up by the tablet and not have to worry about the keyboard falling down and there are also two height adjustments as well so you can have it here or here and it does hold closed magnetically but that honestly doesn't work too well it doesn't take much of an angle to make the keyboard just kind of fall off so magnets don't hold very strong i kind of wish they would have improved on that but most importantly i'd love to see apple improve on the keyboard on this one especially for this price point of about 200 at the time of making this video i just can't in good faith recommend this keyboard especially over something like the logitech keyboard which is only a little bit more expensive than this but way better if you frequently use a keyboard with the ipad and you want to step up your productivity then i recommend getting this logitech mx anywhere 2s mouse this has been my go-to mouse for all of my devices whenever i'm traveling it's a super compact mouse but it's also really comfortable to use for an extended period of time and there's a lot of great features with this mouse for starters the scroll wheel has two modes the first mode is kind of like a clicky scrolling that's not gonna scroll very far every time you run the wheel as you can see it stops pretty quickly but if you click the wheel in it'll scroll almost endlessly this will scroll to the bottom of any page i've ever tried to scroll it just keeps going it's still going right now that's how long this scrolls it's pretty impressive how well this scroll wheel works the wheel also has a scroll left and scroll right feature so this actually clicks left and right then you obviously also get your left and right mouse clicks and you get a customizable button here on the bottom as well as two more customizable buttons on the side to customize these buttons on a mac or pc you'd use the logitech options software and that'll let you remap the buttons to do pretty much anything you want and you can even have it be application specific so depending on the application you're in it'll change what the buttons do you can even customize these buttons on the ipad by going to settings accessibility touch assistive touch turn on assistive touch then scroll down to select devices then select the mouse tap or click customize additional buttons then press the button you want to customize on the mouse and select a custom function from the drop down menu one more great feature with this mouse is that you can pair up to three devices and quickly switch between those devices by pressing this button here at the bottom so as you can see when i press this i can switch to device 1 device 2 then device 3 and it really is that fast so i could have device 1 paired to my desktop device 2 paired to my laptop and device 3 paired to my ipad and if i ever want to pair a different device i just long press the button and wait until it starts flashing now i compare it to another device and something unique when paired to either a mac or a pc with this button just below the scroll wheel is that this is actually a gesture button so you can hold this button down and swipe either left or right or up or down and have it do something different and each one of those can be their own unique command the apple pencil is obviously a great choice for any artists or graphic designers but it's also a great choice for anyone that likes to hand write notes or even emails so in apple's built-in email application you can actually just start writing with the apple pencil and it'll automatically convert your handwriting to digital text the same is true for the built-in notes app however to enable this you first have to select the handwriting tool by tapping the pen icon in the upper right corner then tap the pen with the letter a on it now just start writing and even the most difficult to read handwriting will be converted to text as you can see even when i try to write terribly it still gets all the text correct editing the text is easy too you can erase words by scribbling them out add or remove spaces by drawing a vertical line between words or letters insert text by long pressing where you want to add the text until a gray box appears for you to write in and if you want to select a bunch of words you can either circle them or draw a single line through them all of these handwriting features are also available when sending or replying to emails using apple's mail app the ipad has an undeniably incredible screen that's great for consuming media and if you're someone that likes to watch a lot of movies on your ipad then you're going to want to get some premium headphones to go along with that premium video experience and for that i recommend the sony wh-1000xm4 these are by far my favorite over-ear headphones for a number of reasons first off they just sound incredible the sound is very full it's very crisp you can hear all the tiny little details especially if you're just listening to music or watching a movie all the details are captured with these headphones you're not missing anything you could really hear the movie the way that the sound engineers wanted you to hear it and the noise cancelling of these is just unbelievable if you're using them on a plane or really anywhere with a droning sound these cancel out so much and make it so quiet i'm really blown away at how well the noise cancelling works on these headphones they're also incredibly comfortable for extended use when you're watching a movie you're going to have these things on for a long time and that's really important that your head doesn't start to hurt by these either pressing in on your ears or pressing down on your head if that wasn't good enough there's a bunch of technology built into these as well for starters the music controls are super easy double tap to play pause swipe forward to skip forward swipe back to skip back swipe up to go up in volume swipe down to go down in volume if you hold your hand over the ear cup it'll turn on ambient sound mode so you can hear your surroundings and this is really useful in public places like in an airport when you want to try to hear an announcement really quick without having to take the headphones off then you can just take your hand off and ambient sound mode will turn back off so you can get back to listening to your music or your movie the left ear cup specifically has a sensor in it that detects when the headphones are on your head or off your head so if you're listening to some music and then you take them off your head to have a conversation with somebody the music or movie will automatically pause while you're having that conversation then when you put them back on the music or movie will start back up if you download sony's application that goes along with these headphones then you can also turn on features like auto ambient sound mode that will turn on ambient sound automatically when you start talking and that's great if someone comes over to have a quick conversation with you and you want to quickly hear what they're saying just reply back and say something like hey what's up and then all of a sudden it's just going to turn on ambient mode and you'll be able to hear what they're saying without having to quickly take your headphones off now personally i kind of preferred that you would take your headphones off when talking to someone i feel like that's a bit more respectful thing to do but there may be times when you've got a bunch of stuff in your hands and you can't just quickly take the headphones off to hear someone and that is a perfect use case for this feature on the left ear cup you get a power button and a customizable button that can be set to switch through your noise cancelling and ambient sound modes or even use google assistant or alexa if you prefer to use those over siri however if you do prefer siri all you have to do is long press the right ear cup with one finger to activate it just know that you can't have both active at the same time so if you enabled google assistant with the custom button you wouldn't also be able to access siri at least not at the time of making this video but sometime in the future sony may release an update that does enable both to be used at the same time these headphones also have an auto off feature so if you pause your music or movie then take the headphones off and set them down for about 15 minutes they'll turn off automatically to save some battery life battery life on these is also incredible with about 30 hours of listening time which is about accurate because i've had these for a few months now and i only charge them once every few weeks but if your battery does die there is a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack on the bottom of the left ear cup so you can plug directly into your ipad using either a 3.5 millimeter to usbc cable or by using a 3.5 millimeter to 3.5 millimeter cable and plugging that into a usbc to 3.5 millimeter adapter like this link like adapter one of the things i love about this link like adapter is one the build quality is excellent this is a metal case and i've had no issues with this using it on a number of different devices and it also has a usbc passthrough so you can charge your device while also having headphones plugged in i'll have a link to all the different cabling options down in the description and if your battery dies and you don't have a 3.5 millimeter cable to plug in then you can just charge it with the usb c port for 10 minutes and get up to 5 hours of playback time with just that 10 minute charge and last but not least these headphones also come with an awesome hard shell carrying case to carry the headphones as well as any accessories you need and if you close the case and flip it over there is also a little pouch here to carry more things if you're not a fan of over ear headphones but you still want a great listening experience then i recommend the obvious choice of apple's airpods pro these have incredible sound quality have excellent active noise cancelling and ambient sound modes and the buttons are customizable within the settings app this is the qgeam hub that offers a 4k hdmi output an sd card and microsd card reader three usb 3.0 ports and a usbc power passthrough so you can continue to charge your ipad at the full 30 watts while you use the hub one important downside with any hub that you get is that it only mirrors your ipad screen instead of extending it and giving you a desktop like experience like you'd get with something like samsung's tab s7 fortunately when you switch to playing a video with a supported app it will expand to fill a 16 by 9 aspect ratio which is the form factor of pretty much every tv this next accessory isn't ipad specific but it's still really useful and that is the new apple air tags these are great for finding things like lost keys maybe a lost bag and you can even put it on your pet in case you lose your pet the tags are super compact and you can get a bunch of different cases for them depending on what you want to connect them to then if you want to find the tag you can use your ipad or iphone and say something like find my keys looking for keys it's nearby and this pinging is extremely loud so you're definitely gonna be able to find anything even if it's stuffed under the couch cushions this is plenty loud enough to be able to find it if you have an air tag in your bag and you actually left your bag somewhere but you're not sure where you left it you can also use the find my app and see the last known geographical location of the air tag next let's talk about my favorite non-keyboard cases i've got my favorite rugged case favorite slim case and a case here that has one of the coolest features i've seen on a case in a while so first let's take a look at the most rugged case if you're looking for something to really do a great job of protecting your ipad from drops then i recommend the spigen tough armor it doesn't have a cover for the screen but the edges and back are very well protected from big drops and there's a substantial lip on the front of the case to protect your screen from face down drops on a flat surface the buttons on this speaking case are also super tactile which is important for any case you get there's a slot at the top to hold the apple pencil securely and there's a hole in the back to make it easy to press the pencil out when you need it and when your pencil isn't in the slot you can use the hole as a hook to hang your ipad on a wall if you're doing something like working in a garage that's not an official feature but that's how i personally use it on the back there's a locking kickstand so you can stand it up in two different angles depending on what you're doing with the ipad if you're looking for a slim folio case that doesn't cost an absurd amount of money i'd check out the esr rebound magnetic case at the time of making this video the esr case is 75 dollars less expensive than the official apple version of this case but it's equal or better in every way it feels incredibly premium the magnets hold the ipad very well the cover stays closed magnetically and even has a magnetic flap to hold the apple pencil in place the magnetic strap locks into two separate positions as well a higher position to hold the apple pencil and a lower position when you don't have the apple pencil attached then when you want to open it the strap holds on magnetically to the back of the case you also get the same weight and sleep functionality when opening and closing the cover when you swing the cover all the way open it'll hold on to the back magnetically or you can try fold it and stand it up tall for watching movies or flip it over so you can draw or write on it and in case you're wondering the trifold does hold together magnetically so it doesn't fall apart when you move the ipad lastly the inside of the case is a smooth fabric that keeps your ipad safe from scratches bottom line i highly recommend this case over apple's official case now let's talk about one of the coolest cases i've seen for any product and that is the magnetic flip folio case by esr this case has a ton of different angles of adjustment you just pull back the magnetically attached stand and it'll snap into any one of these nine positions and this gives you a bunch of different angles for a lot of use cases and since it's held on magnetically you can just pick your ipad up without the bottom of the case falling down at the top there's a cutout that fits the apple pencil but if you're gonna be putting this in a bag you can actually take the apple pencil and put it into this slot right on the back so it doesn't fall off the cover the case also has magnets so the sleep wake feature does work with this cover and since this case fully wraps around your ipad you get a ton of drop protection and the inside material the cover is a soft fabric to keep your screen safe from scratches but all of that pales in comparison to the coolest feature that this case has and that has to do with my refrigerator the magnets on this case are so strong that if you flip the cover over you can actually just hang the ipad right on your refrigerator so if you ever wanted to screen on your refrigerator to quickly add things to a grocery list or maybe just watch a video while you're working in the kitchen this is a great way to do it then when you want to go do some web browsing or something just pull it right off and you're good to go after seeing esr as a flip folio case stick to the fridge i thought to myself you know what the magnets on their slim foil case are pretty strong i wonder if that'll stick too so i tried it out and it actually worked and it holds really really well that said i don't really recommend doing that because the ipad isn't protected at all if it falls so if on your particular fridge it doesn't hold quite as well as my fridge and you close that door a little bit too hard if your ipad falls you've got no protection on this and you are going to do some damage if you want to test this out on your refrigerator i do recommend putting some pillows or something to catch the ipad just in case then give the door a few good hard closes just to make sure it's not going to fall off and if it all works well on your fridge then you've just got an awesome bonus feature with this case as always if you want to pick up one of these cases for yourself i have all the links in the description if you're looking for a tempered glass screen protector that won't break the bank then i recommend the sparin screen protectors the only noticeable downside is the same downside i've seen with every screen protector and it's that you do get more glare with the screen protector on here's the bare ipad and here it is with the screen protector on and once again with it back off but to be honest in person after using this for a few days with the screen protector on i barely even notice it's there anymore and in case you're wondering these screen protectors are compatible with all the cases i showed in this video the nalaxi tablet stand is my favorite compact tablet stand it unfolds into any position you want and is incredibly stable it makes it easier to use your ipad as a second monitor for your computer and it even works in portrait mode which is great for having a recipe up while you're cooking just make sure you adjust the stand forward so the tablet doesn't tip backwards when you put it on and if you're someone that doesn't use a case with your ipad you don't have to worry about scratching up your ipad because there's these little rubber feet here and here that keep your ipad from getting scuffed up and these rubber pads are also on the bottom to keep it from scuffing up your desk and if you want to take it on the go it folds up super tiny and is really easy to stick in a bag if you noticed how smudgy and fingerprint covered my ipad screen was in that last shot and it was just so painful for you to see that and you just wanted that to be cleaned right off then you're gonna be interested in the magic fiber microfiber cleaning claws these are the ones that i use for all my products and they work great if you're also on an iphone and you prefer wired charging instead of wireless charging but you don't like having a bunch of different types of cables on your desk or your nightstand then you're going to want to pick up this magnetic cable instead the tips on this cable actually come off and you can get three different types of tips you can get a lightning tip a usbc tip and even a micro usb tip then all you have to do is plug the lightning tip into your iphone and plug a usb c tip into your ipad the tips hold in really snug but they do obviously stick out a little bit however if you use a case on your iphone and your ipad then it's much less noticeable and once you have a tip installed in each of your devices all you have to do is bring the cable close to the device you want to charge and it snaps right into place if you left a game on your ipad and you're looking for a great controller then i honestly recommend sticking with an official xbox or playstation controller whichever form factor you prefer i've tried a bunch of different controllers over the years and i always go back to my official xbox controller because it just gives me the best experience the controller feels great it works with a ton of different games it's just my go-to controller regardless of the device that i'm playing on and the other reason i recommend official xbox or playstation controllers is that many people just have one of those in their home already so they don't have to go and spend more money on something they don't really need but if you're one of those people that doesn't already have one of these controllers i'll have a link to both the xbox and playstation controllers down in the description but if you're gonna go specifically with the xbox controller just make sure it's a newer generation one that has bluetooth support now it's time for you to tell me what your favorite accessories are down in the comments below and if you guys enjoyed this video and want to see more accessory videos like this for other tech products or you want to see my deep dive videos where i show you guys the coolest unknown features on all the latest tech products be sure to subscribe and turn on all notifications so you don't miss an upload that's it for this episode god bless
