Best Fried Chicken? Paula Deen's The Lady and Sons Restaurant in Savannah, Georgia 4K

[Music] [Music] see this is a lady and her sons we just drove five hours for dinner from atlanta to eat there yeah and where is it inside the lady and sons dean's restaurant this has been a bucket list item for me and we drove to savannah just to eat here yes we did we drove all the way from atlanta to have dinner at the lady and sons there's paula and bobby and jamie i can't wait can't wait i've always wanted to eat here the original restaurant that started at all of you they gave her her show on the food network that brought all the cookbooks and a stick of butter to everything we love so we're gonna go through with you all the food options that are available and what we select i already know we're coming for fried chicken we're coming for fried chicken i suppose we have the best fried chicken we're going to find out right so join us in our paladin lady and sons adventure [Music] let's go get seated we're gonna go get seated we got texted our tables ready ready [Music] so dean we will get an appetizer of the fried green tomatoes okay and then look you guys look it's family style and you choose which family style you want do you want the bobby which has see here two hum two down home dishes and four sides or do you want three home down dishes and four sides so difference of 22.99 or 23.99 for adults either you want three meats or two meats and then four sides okay so here's the down-home sides the dishes best ever southern fried chicken yes please beef pot roast chicken fried pork chop old-fashioned southern meatloaf chicken and dumplings georgia fried catfish or roasted chicken and then we have so we're gonna either choose two or three of these depending on which meal we want we do it individually no it's family style so we're doing either two meats or three meats and then we have to choose our four sides we're getting the fried chicken we already know that okay the four sides we have green beans cream potatoes collard greens baked mac and cheese fresh candied yams creamed corn poppy seed tossed salad broccoli casserole lima beans tomato and cucumber salad and buttered white rice so like off the bat i know i want the creamed potatoes and the baked mac and cheese and then we have two others we choose because we get a total of four and then they have desserts ooey gooey butter cake banana pudding or seasonal cobbler simple menu and then appetizer okra or tomatoes okay thank you look at our own signature hot sauces on the table look at that biscuits just came to the table here we go let me get a close up you thought someone took a bite out of yours i know right look look what happened somebody bit it yeah look at that thing you guys see that guys look at my fingers that's just her holding the biscuit look at that i think we're going to need a few more napkins here we go we got the fried green tomatoes i don't know what kind of stress this your tongue should come out of your head and slap your brain it's so good all right [Music] what does it taste like does it taste like the fried green tomatoes i make it just tastes like sweets what is this stuff it's like a coleslaw it's definitely green it kind of tastes like a um oh that's spicy that red sauce it kind of tastes like a duck sauce or sweet and sour sauce that you would put on a pork fried rice or something like a chinese food but difference has a spice to it look at that [Music] look at this listen to the crunch you hear it listen oh that's just the breading these are very good thank you mac and cheese mashed potato fried chicken oatmeal's already starting squeeze some lemon on there is there any fried chicken meatloaf creamed corn these guys are starting oh yeah and here's the salads nobody's grabbing for the salad what look at all this look at it there's some who wants salad guys here you go oh he got a blood salad named by one salad this is catfish here guys it's a salad dean what's better the catfish or the meatloaf probably the meatloaf okay [Music] i'm going breast on the fried chicken it's my favorite piece i know most people like the thawed i love the breast you sure you don't want salad guys it's really really really hot but the seasoning on it is so good i'm gonna do salad it looks like the kids may not but i want the salad with a poppy dressing this is the salad i know we have creamed corn we have to have some type of vegetables some of the salad is wilted i'm gonna be honest it's not the freshest can you see how this is all wilted so i got some mac and cheese that chicken might be some of the best fried chicken i've ever had [Music] what do they call them smashed potatoes what was it called cream creamed potatoes mashed potatoes it's like a red potato that isn't what i expected [Applause] yeah the potato it's very old me and it has skins and you know there's got to be cream cheese in there and butter it's good it just isn't quite what i expected it here's the cream corn [Music] it's sweet so they said the meatloaf is the best yeah we're gonna eat the catfish eat the backpack because there's like way too much breading on the front end my watch is telling me to breathe okay here's the meatloaf said this one was the best all right guys so how much more eating are you gonna do here do you know what's sad it says no to go it says that says put some in your purse bring like a plastic i don't know i don't think i can do it i still got more of my chicken i knew i knew it was a risk getting the fried green tomato but we had to try it dean wasn't a fan of the salad i thought it was pretty good but there are wilted pieces in it and i am disappointed in that so like some of it should have been here oh my gosh you guys my mac and cheese is covered with salad we have to rectify that here is the mac and cheese very good we're going to do mac and cheese in a salad bite together so the kids say the meatloaf is the best to them is the fish too too soft it's pulling apart is that they're too much breading for your liking the breading the breading is it a cornbread bread no okay i have to try some meatloaf i still my favorites the fried chicken probably fried chicken mac and cheese for me all right it's time to try some fish fish there's not much room on my plate right now so excuse the mess and i am a tartar sauce queen like i love tartar sauce i was expecting lemon to squeeze on the catfish i'm going to be honest so i'm kind of surprised what am i supposed to do i guess i'll put on top oh my god i'm making a mess i need like seven hands okay here we go you guys see this plate it's like a disaster area like every type of food imaginable with tartar [Music] yeah it's a dill based carter it's not a sweet tartar it it's very good that is a very creamy tartar all right guys i think this is all we could do and there's a ton left and they say no to go so we were debriefing what did you guys say was your favorite side dean said his favorite thing was the bread but what was your favorite side mac and cheese for you cream potatoes and then your favorite of the meats meat meatloaf great meal i'm gonna say two downsides one is you can't take anything to go so we did not get any refills but and we left a lot on the table as you guys saw but we could not bring it back to our hotel room to maybe have a midnight snack so it's like no to go i think that's a bummer i feel like if you just had the first round because it's unlimited so you could get refills but we did not like you should be able to take your first round but with refills i get it they don't want people to like load up and everything and walk out but that was such a waste and we probably would have eaten it i would have bought a cooler and put that junk in it and taken it to atlanta with me for sure it was so good and then we're gonna get three there's you each get a choice of a dessert there's three options of desserts each cobbler banana pudding or ooey gooey butter cake and so what we did is you get your choice but we just went ahead and ordered the three and then we'll share since we're all family and we'll let you know how it is but like i'm so full and i really wish i could have taken that home all of it like we would have bet our entire family for another meal with that stuff and dave isn't here today so he really missed out but like that fried chicken oh my god i would have loved to have taken that put it in a cooler and take it home oh it was so good it was worth the drive for me for the fried chicken for the kids they love the meatloaf here's the ue butter cake it's chocolate the peach cobbler and the banana pudding oh my goodness butter cake but you call it chocolate cake but it's butter cake guys i thought this was a brownie look at that wow [Music] here is the oh which is really like a chocolate cake rotating dessert wow i can taste that butter in there man holy cow you like that one maddie this is my favorite i really taste like anything [Music] looks like canned peaches that peach cobbler is kind of plain it's definitely the least out of all of them the banana pudding is really good and uh did you taste the whipped cream i love the ice cream tonight it's not it looks like ice cream it's whipped cream wow that's probably the this this one is probably my favorite because the wig butter cake isn't what i thought would be the home run for me but it's too rich it's too sweet this one right here and that's this is a whipped cream that is good so for you guys which one wins for you the ubud you just want to have the rest of that one mama can have it you need to rotate again i guess so the sugar has hit then one iced tea and two diet cokes and here we go here's the damage so we had tea and the kids switched the diet coke but they didn't charge us for that so it's 9.75 for three drinks we did get the fried green tomatoes at 9.99 and then we had three of the jamie's dinner which is the three meats and four sides so i think it was 23.99 for that one the bobby version would have been 22.99 i believe so here's your total 9813 with taxes and then they actually have recommended tips on there we will be tipping i i'm very happy guys there's a basement oh my god there's a first second third in a basement so madison what did you think of the lady and sons i mean it was good but i mean when i come back all the way out here it was a long drive from atlanta yes no okay you like some of homecoming stuff better yeah i mean i'm sure like we could have gotten the same experience with a different restaurant yeah i really enjoyed the food i thought it was really good i'm disappointed in myself with how little i was able to eat it was a challenge and i did not win we left a lot on the table um so this is the lady and sons in savannah georgia with
