welcome to the open Beta of paleo we can finally all play now this video is going to be going through my Essential tips the things that I wish I knew when I first started playing paleo now obviously I can't cover absolutely everything so this video is going to be for those who are complete beginners to paleo those who are just starting and those in the early game so if you find this video at all helpful please go ahead give it a like sub to the channel for more paleo content but let's get into these essential tips that you need to know okay first tip this thing is not a storage box whatever you put in this box will be sold it certainly looks like a big storage chest but it's not a storage chest things you put in here will be sold the next tip is when you first start the game I would strongly urge you not to go ahead and explore everything be line your missions up until the mission that you get from the joomer called like a bird now there are some very very good reasons as to why you want to do this first of all it gets out of the tutorial levels as quickly as possible you'll have access to all your tools and skills and then you can start working on upgrading them to get better things in the game you'll also then have your housing plot where you can put all these different machines and things to start becoming really efficient and making money in the game and you'll also get your glider which is a super fun thing in the game all of these things are incredibly useful and it only takes about 30 to 60 minutes to get up to this particular Mission so please just don't explore just be on your missions and just get it done within the first 30 minutes to an hour the next one is focus focus focus your focus meter gives you an XP boost when it has something in it now this allows you to level up faster but this bonus only applies when you have eaten something now this isn't a system where the more full the bar is the higher the XP boost is it doesn't work like that at all the way that this works is is that you get a stagnant or steady percentage increase only when something is in the bar so you can have a tiny amount in the bar or you can have the bar be completely full that percentage boost will not change thankfully this is not a stamina meter either like stardew Valley God I hated that basically once this bar runs out you can still do everything exactly the same you just won't be getting that XP buff so the next question you might be wondering is how do we increase this Focus meter and how do we increase that percentage buff Great question impeller you're going to be unlocking a bunch of an afro completing a variety of different tasks like completing missions increasing friendships unlocking achievements fulfilling requests Etc now please don't make the mistake that I see a lot of new players making where they buy Rich to expand or obtain more land for their housing plot this is completely useless at the start of the game you are not going to have enough house or machines or resources to expand out into these new blocks the the land that they give you is already massive and you will not need more for a long long time instead put your Renown into your focus meter how do we do this well you can go to this Phoenix statue that you went to at the very very start of the game here it is on the map here this statue will increase the percentage of XP boost that you're given so as long as anything is in this Focus meter this is the percentage that will apply to your increase or your buff now that's all well and good however our Focus meter starts off quite small and you might be getting into some food items that exceed how much Focus you can hold so how do we increase the overall size of the focus meter well if you go to this dragon statue located here on the map this will increase the overall size or capacity of this meter so instead of just having land that's sitting there not being utilized you can put that same renowned currency into increasing your focus but in its entirety and also increasing the percentage buff so you can level faster in the game Renown also caps at a thousand so please make sure you keep an eye on that because you don't want to keep earning Renown and having it go to waste the next thing is leveling up your tools and skills now this might be news to people but leveling tools and upgrading them makes them less I've had a few people come into my streams and say this tool looks so I know it's a basic tool and it's almost like the game is incentivizing you to level them up and buy more efficient tools but leveling up these tools and skills to certain Milestone levels will unlock new recipes and new blueprints for that particular skill you might be getting an upgrade of the tool itself you might be getting recipes for different things to apply to that skill you might be getting blueprints for things that utilize the resources that you obtain in their skills like smelters for mining all these new additions that are tied to leveling up these tools will open up the game for you in a massive way and then all those new systems start feeding into other skills so it's absolutely imperative and crucial that you focus on these skills and tools now there are NPCs that are tied to certain skills but don't worry you don't have to remember who is tied to what they'll most likely either have a mission for you when you reach that Milestone or they'll go ahead and just send you a letter say hey I've got a new recipe come check me out now also do be aware that upgraded tools do have a durability meter so you'll want to also be buying some repair kits you can buy a repair station for your home which is what I've done so I can just repair everything once I go back to my home plot or you can go to this store here and repair it while you're there please also keep in mind that you do not want your tools to break it is far more efficient just to repair the tools at a lower cost rather than having them break and having to rebuild those tools up from scratch once your tool breaks it goes back to the most basic form of that tool so always have some repair kits on you and whether you're out in kilma Village or you're back at your home plot just keep those repairs going the next thing this map is quite basic but it can have some interactive features if you are looking for an NPC and you find them on the map you can press the middle Mouse button or your scroll wheel and that will put a waypoint on that particular NPC or basically anywhere that you want to go in your map it will then turn up on the compass and the top of the screen and then you can just walk in the general direction to get to where you want to go go now MP seeds will have their own sleep schedules as well however if you do have a mission that needs to be handed into an NPC and they're sleeping do not worry you can still hand in missions while an NPC is sleeping this is a great quality of life change and also those NPCs that actually run shops you can still operate and go to those stores and just go to the cash register and still be able to buy the certain resources regardless of whether the NPC is there or not another great quality of life change are the chest and how the inventory system works in this game it's not like Minecraft where you have to remember what you put in each chest and have a little sign in the front you have a whole bunch of chests on your plot it contributes to the entire capacity of your inventory system everything is shared across old chests and the more chests you have on your housing plot equals more inventory space so what I've done is I have one chest at the front and I've just chucked everything else at the back of my plot so it's out of sight out of mind and I still have have access to absolutely every single item that I've put into a chest somewhere along the line now as I sort of hinted to before you want to be focusing on practical things and things that will provide you with some utility these are going to be your machines and upgrading your tools and skills and I think when you first start the game you should be focusing on two things just entirely number one it's leveling up those tools and skills to unlock new recipes Blueprints and machines and number two is making money the most useful things in my opinion that are going to be contributing to this are the hunting the foraging or cutting down trees and then also mining hunting will give you access to Meats which can then be used as food sources and as we discussed food will keep your focus bar up and help you level in the game it also gives you other resources that can be transformed for example these skins can be turned into leather later on once you've unlocked the fabric maker from your furniture building cutting down trees will eventually unlock a sawmill to transform wood into planks and Mining will give you access to smelters so you can start making ingots and bricks and things like that on your own plot now these planks and bricks are completely essential if you want to build your own house after you've been given your building permit from the mayor you'll need a hundred separate planks and 35 stone bricks to build your house so please go ahead and focus on that if you want to get your house ASAP and as you level up and get more machines you're going to become way more self-sustainable you're gonna unlock more things and you'll see just how much everything feeds into one another it's it's so addictive to keep going in this game so for example I level up my farming quite a bit so I had a constant food supply and also some of these vegetables are pretty valuable and because I level up their farming I was then able to get a worm farm now this worm farm gives you fertilizer for your crops and then also gives you more worms those worms can then be taken and put to your fishing skill because some fish are only able to be caught with a particular worm so then you can see how different skills merge into one another and it creates this entire ecosystem where you are self-sustainable now let's get into making money there are a few different ways to make money in this game however you are not going to be able to use your IRL cash to pay for some premium currency to get a boost in this game nor can friends just give you items that you can sell for a profit or just hand you money this is a great system in paleo in my opinion where everything you see is earned so one of the best ways to make money in this game I would say personally hunting and Bug catching these are going to be the fastest and most efficient ways to make money especially early game you can one shot a chappa you can hit a certain up with two hits if you have the very very basic arrow and also bug catching is super efficient it's just throwing balls at different bugs and a little tip there if you can't see the bugs drop your graphic settings down to low all the grass blades are then removed and you have a flat surface and you can see the bugs jumping around um from a mile away just a little hint there but by catching and hunting are going to be the most efficient ways to start making some money early in game now when it comes to the bugs and the hunting everything you get will sell from somewhere between 30 to 60 coins and that's fine however the biggest difference here is transforming these base resources into more valuable ones now obviously the more you play you will come into contact with rarer bugs or more magical animals but this again is for the beginners and again that sort of ties back into leveling up your tools so you can address and Tackle these rarer creatures but a way to make this really basic resources more valuable is to transform them so a way to do that is to cook the food so Meat and Fish can be turned into cooked meat and fish and they will sell for a much higher price the skins or Furs that you get from cernox can be changed into leather your rock clay copper or iron can then be turned into bricks which will then make them more valuable when you sell I also recommend that you focus on gardening and just getting a couple of crops here and there this will operate in the background so when you go out and you do your hunting or your bug catching or your fishing you've got crops or basically money growing in the background on your home plot you just do need to be on top of the watering however you can buy certain fertilizers that lock in the moisture so you don't even need to water as much I'm personally focusing on potatoes because they sell for 45 coins or 67 per potato if they're a starred item and I'm also doing Tomatoes as well because you can actually Harvest them two to three times before you even need to reseed the area they just regrow in place two to three times and because you're focusing on farming you can then access certain machines like a seed maker so if you have a valuable vegetable like a potato you can put that into the seed maker and make more seeds for potatoes this means that you will never ever have to buy seeds from this store again again just making your home plot a lot more self-sufficient and I would strongly recommend that you do not build your farm far away from the water hole I will be moving this later on because I'm sick and tired of running back and forth between my water haul and my farm so put this close to the water if you also press this button you'll also get to see the different kind of bath or effects that certain crops have over another you'll have some that have water retention you'll have something that keeps weeds away you'll also have some that provide harvesting boosts so it's going to mean your best interest to diversify the crops on your farm another tip is hovering over items you can get some very valuable information if you hover over certain items in the game so if you hover over a bag of seeds it will tell you how long it takes to grow and also tell you the resale it'll also tell you the resale value of anything in game that you hover over or just rule of thumb if you want to know more information about a particular item just put your cursor over it and it'll tell you everything that you need to know now I mentioned starred items when I was talking about farming Star Quality items are just basically better versions of a particular resource or item so when you have a bug they will Sparkle out in the wild and you'll know that that is a starred bug or item if you go out and catch certain fish in certain spots where there are splashes or rings in the water you know that that's going to be a better quality fish certain crops will be starred items too so basically anything start is going to do more of what the base one does so a starred meal is going to be a higher quality meal so it might fill up your focus by even more if you have a starred crop that's going to be worth more to sell as well so just keep an eye out for those starred things or things that sparkle they're going to be worth your time getting as well and another okay way to make money when you're in the beginner stage is to jump over to Bahari Bay and collect these oysters some of these oysters have a chance of having a pearl or a green pearl in them which are very very valuable when I did testing it was about every 10 to 15 oysters that I open had a pearl it's not the best way it's not the most efficient but while you're in Bahari Bay hey if you see oysters pick them up you never know which ones might have a pearl now speaking about Bahari Bay the NPCs the map and the waypoints if a character is not in kiliman Village they're gonna be in one of two other places they're either going to be in Bahari Bay because characters can walk between the two different areas or they're going to be in the underground shop with Zeki you will unlock that as you play it's an early game sort of thing but they might be there as well now as you jump between Bahari Bay and kiliman Village you will quickly realize that this land or world is huge and there's no Mount system so the only other way to get around apart from walking is fast traveling but just be aware that the Fast Travel costs gold early game it's kind of hard to get a hold of a bunch of gold so most likely you'll be walking everywhere now do be aware that on the map you are able to fast travel to your home plot for free however one once you do this once it's then on a 30 minute cooldown so you're going around you're exploring paleo you're getting resources you're upgrading the skills and you quickly come to the realization that you are running out of inventory space don't worry you can go to zeki's shop and go to the left here and upgrade your bag Please be aware that each expansion gets progressively more expensive so your first bag upgrade is about 500 coins the next one is 5 000 and then I think the next one after that is 50 000 coins the next tip is to make friends with the NPCs and I would recommend that you pick one person and try get them to as high of a level as possible I currently have a mission where I need to get a particular NPC up to a level for friendship had I known this at the start I would have just been spamming them with gifts every single time that I play I didn't know this so I didn't focus on it and now I have to build up a friendship from scratch when I've just based basically wasted all that time where I could have been building up a friendship with someone now when you talk to the NPCs you can find out what their liked or loved gifts are by clicking this icon down here they'll either tell you what they want or what another NPC wants and if you jump over to this menu over here you can see how far you've progressed in each different character or NPC's friendship level you can also see what their liked and love gifts are for that week yes this does change every week so you can't just look at a guide and speed run this friendship like stardew Valley and you also get a glimpse as to what items you'll get at each single milestone in that friendship obviously gifting a light or loved gifts will increase the amount of their friendship increases over just giving them random stuff now NPCs won't accept every single gift so it's going to be in your best interest to start giving them the things that they really like or they really love do be aware that paleo is a community based game and with that there is a function that you can fulfill or request items from other players if you are struggling to find a particular item or to make it yourself or get it yourself you can request an item through this menu here now you cannot request items that sort of are above where you are in the game so you can't be level one requesting items that you might only have access to at level 20 or something it's sort of within the Realms of where you are progress wise in the game that way you kind of have a friend who's level 20 start gifting you things that are going to be able to make you gold and just make you rich at your level one now we spoke about NPC friendships let's get into NPC romances the only NPCs that can be romance are the ones that have these double bars under their name if a character you like does not have a secondary bar they cannot be romanced at that point in time there has been some discussions that some characters that are not romanceable at the moment will become romanticable later on but if you're looking for a particular character to romance look for the ones with the double bar under their name but guys that is every tip that I wish I had when I first started playing paleo I really hope that this helps you out in some way in making your start a lot more efficient and useful and of course if I missed anything that you feel is more important please go ahead and drop it in the comments down below if you did like
