Hey Youtube Coppersan here! It
has been a while since I have seen so many players online in MapleStory!
I hope everyone is having a great time with the destiny update! With that many
people coming back or starting maplestory I figured it was time for a new welcome back guide
that is fully up to date with the destiny update! So if you just got back after years of playing or
just started playing maplestory and want to know everything needed to get into the game this is
the video for you! This video is a long one! Make sure to make use of the chapters to
go to the part that is interesting to you! I hope this video is useful for everyone and
that you’re enjoying your time in maplestory! Picking a server
MapleStory has 2 regions you can play in, EU and North America.
I would recommend picking the region you are closest to so you won’t be playing on
high ping. This can be a disadvantage for some classes. The NA region does have
more players compared to the EU region. There also are 3 types of servers. Reboot
servers, Burning servers and regular servers to pick from. With the regular
servers being Luna in EU, and Scania, Bera, Aurora and Elysium for north america. In
the reboot server there is no trading between players so all equipment and items have to be
obtained by yourself. But the server is also balanced in such a way that this is possible.
With higher meso rates and stronger monsters. In the regular servers it is easier to
pay to get stronger with real currency. Perfect for maplers who either like to trade
or maplers who don’t have that much time. In short, reboot is more free to play oriented
but requires more time to get to the same level as characters on the regular server. While
in the regular servers maplers can get gear and items faster but there also is a bigger
focus on paying real money to get stronger. The burning world is an event server where you
can create characters that will level up faster. However this server is temporary and the
characters from this server have to be transferred to any regular server by the time the
event ends. Reboot players cannot make use of the burning world. There is no best server but as you
can see most maplers prefer the reboot servers. For this video we will be playing on
the Reboot server but I will go over the regular server systems as well.
We will be leveling up a Night Lord along the way. My stats will be a lot
higher than yours when starting out. I’ll explain later how you can boost
your stats like I am doing as well Leveling up
Leveling up in MapleStory is pretty fast early on but the game truly begins
at level 200. Make sure to make use of the burning events if possible to get 2 additional level
ups every time you level up during this event. We are starting out as an explorer and they now
have a really, really, really long introduction that takes you all the way to level 30 without
much action really. In the rare moments that you’re not talking or stuck in a cutscene you
can assign your skill points and ability points. For your ability points you can just
always use the auto assign button. Characters in MapleStory only need 1 stat
nowadays so you can’t go wrong with Auto assign. You’re also able to always level all skills to
the max level. I usually put my first points in an attack and double jump so I can move around
faster. But by the time we are done with the introduction quests we will be level 30. You’ll
be level 40 if you’re burning your character. If you’re not burning and are level 30 I
recommend you start off the Ellinel Fairy Academy theme dungeon. If you are burning
skip to the next theme dungeon Riena Strait. To start the questline for the Ellinel Fairy
academy either talk to your job instructor, or use the light bulb at the left side
of the screen to find the correct quest. You can also press U to open the guide
menu and select the theme dungeon there. By the way, speaking of the guide menu.
Every few levels you can pick up rewards here. Like for example this title at level
30 together with some other cosmetic items. This title lasts 90 days and is tradable
within your account. It provides some really nice bonus stats so make sure to
pick up this reward in the guide menu! Starting the Ellinel Fairy academy quest line
you can just follow this along, the quests are pretty straightforward. Whenever you are
leveling up, for your 2nd job skill points I recommend to first put 1 point in your new attack
or attacks, then get your mastery to level 5 and put 1 point in your boost skill afterwards,
if you’re an explorer at least. Booster is a passive now so just one point is enough to get
the full attack speed effect. More levels will just give a small stat boost. So after putting
in one point you can max this skill last. By the way keep in mind that some skills are toggle
skills. So always read what you’re unlocking haha If at any point during the questline you’re
confused where to go you can open the quest menu to check where on the map you need to
be! Completing this questline rewards gear, spell traces and mesos. Since the explorers
now start off at level 30 getting a million mesos is super nice. Spell traces
can be sold for mesos in the reboot server and in the regular server you
need those for upgrading your gear. I’ll go deeper into upgrading later
in the video at the gear growth part! Once you’re level 33 or higher, make sure to
complete the quest do you know about pets from the light bulb at the left side of the screen to
get a pet who has an auto potion skill. This way if you’re playing classes that have low health
and defense you can let your pet use potions automatically so you don’t accidently die.
Just remember to buy pet food for your pets so you can keep them well fed. If you don’t
feed them enough they will disappear from hunger. You can buy pet food at pet
merchants like this one in henesys. Now that we have completed this theme dungeon
we’re level 44 and it is time to go to the next one! Riena strait! Or if you were burning
you’re starting off with this one right away. You could of course do the ellinel
fairy academy theme dungeon as well. But the Riena strait one rewards a belt
which is pretty hard to get early on. So I would go for that one if you’re
burning over the fairy academy. You can again access this quest through the
lightbulb at the left side of the screen. Completing both theme dungeons on a non burning
character should bring you to around level 54, 55. To level up fast I recommend starting the
Gold beach theme dungeon. This one gives good exp and half of the time you’re leveling by
just talking to NPCs. I usually just stay here until level 60. To job advance select
the job advancement quest in the guide menu. Complete the story to receive new skills!
Oh and quick tip. Accept the quests. Do you know about potential and do you
know about bonus stats for some free gear. You can find those in the light bulb on the left
side of the screen. Both are level 60 quests. After completing your class's third job
advancement we are done with the story quests for now. You don’t really complete quests to level up
fast in MapleStory after the early theme dungeons. You of course can always complete quests if
you like to! There is no downside besides slower leveling compared to grinding. If you open
the guide menu at the left side are quests that can be completed, on the right side are
the training spots you can teleport to. In this video I want to keep things
as short and to the point as possible. So I won’t be going over all the viable
training spots. That’s another 30 minute video right there. So in this video I will cover
spots that I used to grind on this character. You can check out the training guide
video if you’re looking for more spots! From level 60 to level 70 I train at
Silent Swamp at the copper san drakes. This map is so amazing that
it usually is pretty busy. The surrounding maps are ok as well. But
nothing beats the easy lay out of this map. Use the guide menu to teleport to Orbis and go
to Stairway to the Sky 1. This map is amazing for most classes and has a ton of spawn. You can
also go to aqua road or el nath if these maps are filled up. Sand castle playground in aqua
road and Ice Valley 2 are pretty good as well. By the way depending on where you’re training
in either the reboot or the other servers you might be able to go to some spots after. The level
difference penalty is higher in reboot than in the other servers, so in reboot you can usually go to
monsters that around around 5 levels higher than you, in the normal servers this can be up to 10
levels. Monsters that are around your level give bonus exp as well. Nothing too crazy but it will
be useful to grind at monsters around your level. From level 80 to level 85 I went to the Mines near
Edelstein to train at the monsters here. It’s not too bad of a map but there isn’t that much spawn
in some of the maps around here. You can also go to the Nihal desert if you can already defeat
those monsters. We’re going there anyway around level 85 to train at Sahel 2. The desert of
Serenity is pretty nice to grind at as well. At level 91 I went to authorized
personal only using the guide menu. This is another amazing map that will
help you breeze through the early levels. At level 99 it is time for our first cheese
strategy. In MapleStory global there is one boss that gives a ton of EXP called Zakum. We are
opening the party menu by pressing P. Go to the boss tab and select the second boss Zakum. Walk to
the right side of the map to enter. Make sure to go into the normal version and that you’re using
runes and other exp buffs if you have any. When fighting zakum make sure to dodge the indications
on the ground as those deal a ton of damage. Part of this new cheese is that we are only defeating
the arms. This will grant us a few level ups. After this we leave the boss fight. If you don’t
defeat the boss you can enter again in 30 minutes. So we will go in again in a bit to defeat the boss
for real this time and grab another free level up. While our rune is still active I went to sky
nest 2 in leafre to finish that off. This map does require 5 starforce. But I’ll talk about
upgrading later in the video at the gear part. Afterwards I went to Robo’s in ludibrium. Keep in
mind that if you are training in the non reboot servers that training at starforce monsters
is generally the fastest way to level up. For reboot you can also train at
non starforce monsters just fine. The Forgotten Passage map
was free this time around. So I trained here for quite a few
levels. This is a nice flat map which is great for classes with a lot of
mobility. But it does require starforce again. At level 124 half an hour past and I went back
to Zakum to defeat him for good this time. We almost got 2 levels worth of EXP! Not
bad! Now that zakum is fully defeated we have to wait again until tomorrow
before we can fight this boss again. I stayed at forgotten passage until I hit level
130. Then I went to Korean Folk Town. This area has a ton of wanted signs scattered around
the maps. Each of which provides a quest that gives good exp and mesos. These quests
just involve killing some monsters and are pretty fast to complete. If you’re just
starting out I recommend completing them so you can add a bit more balance to your wallet.
I stayed in this area until I hit level 145. After reaching that level I moved over to the
Kerning Tower. Most maps are pretty decent here for most classes. There also are starforce
monsters that are tougher but provide more exp for those of you who have already
built up their account a little bit. I stayed here until I hit level 160. Then I went
to the horntail boss using the boss menu again similar to what we did with Zakum. Make sure to
activate the quest as well so you can enter. You can actually do the same trick that we did with
zakum with this boss as well. Defeat all body parts but keep one alive and reenter after 30
minutes to fight this boss again for more exp. I went to fight Normal Horntail.
In the non reboot servers you can already fight this boss around level
150. Just make sure to bring potions! I trained from level 160 to level 170
in the maps around the Omega Sector. You can also complete the questline here it
is pretty fun! From level 170 to level 180 I went to this map in Kritias. Most maps around
the Kritias area are pretty good to train in. I am just using the guide menu to teleport to
all those spots by the way. You can do the same! At level 180 I went to Knight’s stronghold
in Future henesys again. No need to complete a questline to enter if you’re just looking to
level up. Just use the guide menu to teleport to the maps. And from level 188 to level 199 I
trained at the swollen stumps in future perion. You can use the guide menu but you will
have to walk a few maps to go here. Future perion is nice to grind at to level 199, and if all maps are full make sure to check out
the fox valley theme dungeon maps in Grandis! If you reach level 199 there is no reason to
keep grinding. Instead activate the level 190 quest called Haven a new home. Talk to the One
Eye NPC, rescue a robot and finally talk to both NPCs again to get a full level up. This way
you won’t have to train at final level anymore! And now you’re level 200! Congratulations!
You just completed the game’s tutorial! Now the real adventure begins! But before that
we got to complete the 5th job advancement. Except the quest from the guide menu or
light bulb to be teleported to this NPC. Listen to him babbel on for a
bit and talk to lifeforce itself. Once you did that go to Henesys and
enter the bowmaster school at the right. There is a portal here that you need to enter.
Talk to the goddess to complete this quest. The next portal can be found in Grandis in this
building right here. To complete this quest you have to defeat magnus. The god of grandis sends
you there! Make sure to prepare some potions! And the 3rd portal can be
found here in the demon camp, you can get there through sleepywood.
The map is called Humid Swamp. `The portal is at the right. Go through
3 stages and defeat the monsters. With that completed you have now completed the
5th job advancement! Go back to the temple of time and take the middle door to continue
your adventure here. All major towns in the area require a questline to unlock. On your first
playthrough you’ll have to go through the story. You can start this quest line at Kao after you
defeat 1 happy erda in the first map to the right. Make sure to equip your arcane symbol so
you deal more damage to those monsters. Continue to complete your dailies and
train to level 205 in Vanishing Journey. At level 205 make sure to unlock reverse city
to continue grinding in those maps! If you’re looking for higher level spots feel free to
check out my training guide or my recent zero to hero video where I build up a character
from scratch and go through all the steps. And that concludes the training part of this
video! I hope that was useful! Now onwards to the other systems. There are plenty! Again I
won’t go super deep into all of them. I don’t want to overload you with information that you
won’t need if you’re just starting out anyway. Getting and upgrading gear
Let’s first go over which gear to get, where you can get gear in the first place and
how gear can be upgraded. If you’re leveling up on a regular character just use whatever you
find from monsters. Usually those drop plenty of equipment like weapons, hats, gloves etc. You
can live off the monsters up until level 140. This Pensalir gear is the highest level gear
that drops from regular monsters. If you want to, you can use this gear for a long while. There are
other options as well like the Von Leon set which is dropped by the Von Leon boss. This boss also
drops coins that can be used to purchase his gear. Stat wise it isn’t that big of a difference.
The Von leon set is slightly better. But it takes more time to get this set.
You can also use Necromancer gear dropped by the boss Hilla to fill up some spots.
Most gear drops by boss monsters can get really high bonus stats. So if you’re lucky
it could be worth going for these sets. But the Pensalir set is the most accessible
one. If you’re already burning make sure to use the frozen set and level 150 set
that you get for free with this event. Your early game goal is to get the
Root Abyss or Fafnir set. This is a set consisting of a level 150 Top, bottom,
Hat and weapon. Each part can be obtained by defeating the chaos versions of the
root abyss bosses. You have to defeat their regular versions 5 times before you
can face off against the chaos versions. They are pretty strong though so prepare well! I
didn’t defeat these bosses until I reached level 220 plus. I did solo them though. Go with
friends to make it easier to beat the boss! Your gear has plenty of other slots to fill
out as well. There are different bosses in the game that drop equipment that is part of
the Boss set. This set is a must have early on. For example Normal Zakum will drop an eye
and face accessory. Horntail drops a pendant, ring and earrings. Hilla drops an item for your
pocket slot. The pink bean boss also drops an eye accessory etc. So unlocking bosses is very
important. I have another section in this video where I talk about which quest unlocks
which boss and what rewards they give! There also are other ways to get gear. There
for example is the level 90 quest line called Silent Crusade. This is a long quest line
where you have to travel around the maple world to defeat mini bosses. This quest line
rewards rings, medals and titles. And you can use the coins that you get from this quest and
from defeating bosses to purchase accessories. To access this store you have to
open your key bindings window. Look for the silent crusade button, apply it
and use it to open up this user interface. I usually use this gear as back up if
I'm unlucky with the boss monster drops. By the way I just noticed that my explorer didn’t
get a secondary weapon. If you’re missing one as well you can purchase a secondary weapon at
Neville who is in towns like Henesys and Leafre. Another part of your equipment window needs to
first be unlocked before it can be used. This is your pocket slot. Your character has traits
as well. Will go over that a bit later in the video as well. But I recommend using a trait boost
potion to get your charm to level 30 instantly. This is also the level required to start unlocking
your pocket slot. You can get a trait boost potion for free from the guide menu rewards. And from
most event stores. Talk to big headward in the henesys hair salon to start the quest. Then go to
ardentmill and learn about crafting if you haven’t already. Make sure to learn mining and especially
harvesting as we will be needing the latter. Enter the first crafting zone at the bottom
right and keep harvesting plants until you find a rose clipping. This can take a few
minutes. Then go back to headward and he unlocks your pocket slot. Bosses like Hilla
and Pink bean drop pocket slot accessories. Totems are also a whole different story. To
fill out these equipment slots I recommend to complete the level 75 questline A
cry for help. This questline is long and confusing. I did a whole video explaining
what do to as it can be quite a bit of work. But this area rewards permanent totems which
are best permanent totems you can find. There is another area called shanghai
where you can find slightly better non permanent totems. But if you’re just
starting out I wouldn’t bother with that. The final thing I like to mention is
commerci. This area you can unlock voyages to get the commerci gear set. This
set is also better than the pensilar set. And you can get great accessories here as
well. But if you’re just starting out I wouldn’t start this content right away. The
earlier you start doing voyages the better. But you won’t be using this content until
a bit later in the game. Unless you want to go hard for the Commerci set. MapleStory
is already complex enough so take it easy. Speaking of complex. Let’s go over
all the ways to upgrade gear next. Gear upgrades can be categorized in 5 different
ways to get more stats. These are Potential. Bonus Potential. Scrolling.
Starforce and Bonus Stats. Items dropped can have potential. Or you need to
use potential scrolls to give an item potential. Those scrolls can be found from normal monsters,
boss monsters and some stores like the legion story and the ursus boss store. Use the magnifying
glass in your inventory to reveal potential. items can either have two or three lines of
potential stats. If your item only has two use a stamp to get three lines. I usually get
those from events or from sudden missions and pollo and fritto bags. Potential can
be reset using items called cubes. There are free cubes like occult cubes, craftsman
cubes and meister cubes. And paid cubes like red and black cubes. In the reboot server these cubs
can be bought with the ingame currency meso. If you reset your potential it has a chance
to rank up. The higher the rank the higher the potential stats can be. The rarity goes
up from rare to epic to unique to legendary. Some items also can get special potential
lines that others cannot get. Rings, pendants, face and eye accessories can for example get
meso drop and item drop lines at legendary. Gloves can get critical damage lines at legendary.
And only your weapon, secondary and emblem can get potential lines like attack or magic attack
percentage. Boss damage percentage and ignore defense percentage. Because of this it is always
recommended that if you are cubing your gear to first cube your emblem weapon and secondary
as those can get the most powerful stats. Bonus potential works the same as regular
potential. Except that it is only available in the non reboot servers and is generally a
lot harder to rank up and reroll. As the free cubes for bonus potential don’t increase the rank
and only work on rare bonus potential. The bonus potential cube that does costs real money or
you can sometimes get those from event stores. If you’re just starting out on
a non reboot server I wouldn’t bother too much with bonus potential
until you get a bit more established. Another non reboot method of upgrading is
scrolling. For those you need either spell traces or scrolls. There are a ton of scrolls in
the game so I won’t go over what to use when. That would be another 30 minute video. If you’re
just starting out feel free to use the 70% scrolls and just take it from there. Over time
you will replace most of your gear anyway. Just keep in mind that you have to first deplete the
upgrade slots if you want to starforce your gear. Starforcing gear is available on all servers.
This method of upgrading does have a chance to destroy your gear after reaching 12 stars.
The chance is low but it can happen. I once blew up two items in a row with only a
0.8% chance for each item to blow up. When you blow up an item don’t worry though.
The item can no longer be used until you find the same item and use that to recover the item
that blew up. Even if an item blows up it will keep all its stats and upgrades. Except for the
starforce stars. Those will drop back to 12. Starforce is not a bit damage boost
early on. But after reaching 15 stars the amount of stats you get from starforce
is very powerful. But again if you’re just starting out don’t go trying to get your item
to 15 plus stars until you got some spares. Upgrading gear is a long process. I usually
first get all my items to 10 or 12 stars if I have the mesos. Then I make sure all my items have
potential. Then I reset that to epic using occult cubes. After that you can take it up a notch
and use other cubes to get better potential. Always focus on your weapon, secondary
and emblem first for upgrading potential. Some training maps require starforce for
you to deal more damage to the monsters. So upgrading your gear as you move through
the levels is smart. Make sure to starforce your lower level accessories that you got from
theme dungeons first for some quick starforce. Once you reach level 140 and get the
pensalir set you can spend more to starforce those items. If you’re burning make
sure to starforce your frozen set as well. For example what I am showing right now is what my gear looked like before I took on the
chaos root abyss bosses by myself. And finally there are bonus stats. Those are
those light greenish stats that items can have. You can use various flames to change them. Those
stats can provide decent buffs to your character. And boss gear usually has higher flame
stats than other items. But I wouldnt go hard on resetting those bonus stats right
away. Focus on potential and starforce first If you made some good gear and are
ready to upgrade. You can also use the transfer hammer to transfer the item
stats if the items are in the right range. This will a transfer over the potential stats
and stars. But it will reduce the stars by one, and it will only transfer the full
potential stats up to the epic rarity. Unlocking boss content
MapleStory has plenty of boss content that reward various
items. I will give some level and stat indications but take them with a grain
of salt. Every class is different and boss mechanics will get more important
with the higher level bosses as well. Starting off with Zakum. The normal version of
this boss has a chance to drop a face and eye accessory. You can easily beat this boss Solo
at level 100. Chaos Zakum on the other hands is a beast. I would not fight this boss until you’re
around level 210 and with at least 7.000 main stat and an ignore defense stat of at least 80%. Ignore
defense is a very important bossing stat. Most bosses have very high defense so increasing
this stat is a must to deal enough damage. Magnus has 3 difficulties and you need to
complete the quest that pops up above your head once you reach level 90. Gonna be real honest
here, this boss is super annoying and I wouldn’t even deal with his normal or hard form if you’re
just starting out. This boss is super RNG and annoying. This boss drops a shoulder accessory
and badge which are part of the boss set. The Hilla boss has a normal and hard mode.
Similar to Magnus I wouldn’t bother with the hard mode until you’re a few weeks in. She
has a healing mechanic which is annoying to get around. The normal version of hilla
can be defeated easily around level 140. And level 130 if you already are stronger.
She drops earrings and a pocket slot item. She also has a small chance to drop a box that
has an even smaller chance to contain a free pet. You can just go to her through the boss
menu. No need to complete a questline. Von leon also has an easy, normal and hard mode.
I would recommend to just go in and see which one you can take on. Hard is pretty difficult though
and I wouldn’t attempt that below 4000 main stat. Normal should be doable to struggle for everyone
over level 160. You need to complete the quest Lion King’s castle Desolate Castle to access
this boss. It’s quite a big quest line. This drops coins that can be used to get von leon gear.
And the hard version has a chance to drop von leon gear but you won’t be able to defeat the hard
version comfortably after level 200 if you’re just starting out. You can also get accessories
from this boss which are part of a different set. Horntail is another boss that is great
for exp and gear. It unlocks at level 140. Horntail can be easily beaten by
most maplers around level 150. For chaos horntail I would wait until you’re level
200 and have completed the 5th job advancement. This boss drops pendants, rings and earrings
which are all part of that boss set. Arkarium is a boss with an annoying one
shot mechanic. So proceed with caution. This boss unlocks after completing
the first few chapters of the silent crusade questline. That level 90 quest
line that we discussed earlier. After reaching level 200 this boss should be
doable if you can survive the oneshots! Having a bind or being able to burst this boss
down is a must have. I was defeating the normal version of this boss with around 5k stats
and with 80% ignore defense. This boss drops pendants. The dominator pendant is one of the
best pendants to get early on. But is a rare drop! Complete all the temple of time quests to
unlock the pink bean boss fight. This quest chain starts at level 140 and is called Temple of
Time path to the past. It is a very long one. If you’re just starting out I recommend only fighting
normal pink bean. This boss is pretty annoying to fight because it locks your skills, reverses
your controls and what not. Make sure to bring all cure potions. Maplers around level 200 can
easily take on the normal version of this boss. Pink bean drops a belt, cup and eye accessory
which are all part of the boss sets. Next up are the root abyss bosses. Those
bosses need to be defeated five times to unlock their chaos versions. I recommend
checking out my zero to hero series to see how I build up my character so I
was able to beat the chaos versions. The normal versions of these bosses
can easily be cleared around level 150. Start the level 125 quest Root Abyss An Urgent
Summons to start unlocking this boss content. There also is the boss Gollux. This boss
can be unlocked with the level 180 quest Gollux The cracks of Corruption. This
boss consists of different parts. The more parts you defeat the easier the
boss gets but the less rewards you get. I recommend checking out my bossing guides to
learn more about each boss and their mechanics. Gollux can be pretty annoying to fight
as well if you don’t know what to do. This boss rewards gollux accessories which
are very important later in the game. I think that those are the most important
early game bosses. There are more bosses around in maple so feel free to explore those
for yourself as well when you have the time! Important systems
I hope you’re not too overwhelmed yet. Because I got a big info
dump coming your way. Next we’re going over all other important systems in the game that will
help you get started or if you just came back! The MapleStory Meta is all about building up
your account. Training more characters to receive account wide buffs. There are two systems that
provide those buffs. Link skills and legion. With link skills being the most important one early
on. Every character except for the Zero class can give other characters a link skill. The link
skill window can be found in your beginner tab. At level 70 characters unlock their level 1 link
skill, at level 120 their level 2 link skill. Increasing the bonus stats of the skill. And some
classes can even get their link skill to level 3. Some classes like explorers, knight of cygnus and
the resistance classes have stacking link skills. Meaning those can go up to level 6 but you’ll need for example 3 explorer pirates who are
at least level 120 to achieve that. There are EXP, damage and utility link
skills. I have of course a whole video dedicated to both link skills and legion. So
feel free to check that out. In my opinion the most important link skills are given
by the mercedes, evan and aran class. All their link skills boost your EXP one
way or another. And the Demon Avenger, Kanna and Ark class link skills are
great damage boosts to get started on. Once you have your first level 200 character or a
total level of 500 on your account. So for example 5 level 100 characters you can talk to this NPC
here to unlock your legion. This is a grid based system where you can provide even more stats to
all your characters. The more you level up your characters and increase the total level on your
world the more of the grid you will unlock and the bigger the pieces of the classes get. Each
class provides their own buffs as well. However if you’re just starting out focus on your link
skills first. Legion is a thing that slowly grows over time and will only start providing better
stats when you have built up your account more. You can also collect legion coins which can be
spent in a special store for additional rewards. I already talked a bit earlier about how important
bossing is. But what if I told you it is even more important? Defeating bosses is for most maplers
their main source of income. When you defeat a boss they drop a boss crystal. This crystal can
be sold for mesos to the collector. This NPC can be accessed through the quick move menu in all
major towns. You can only sell a limited amount of crystals per week though. And every boss rewards
more or less mesos depending on the difficulty. Defeating bosses also rewards a currency
called reward points. This can be used in the cash shop to purchase a couple
of items. Including this item called a totem that boosts the spawn rate of monsters. The item lasts for 2 hours. Using the item gives
a skill that has to be used to activate the spawn boosting effect from time to time. A must have
item for everyone who wants to train faster! Around level 105 you will also unlock a
few important pieces of content that will help you get more meso and exp. These are
monster park, ursus and Maple Tour. Monster park is a dungeon where you can get a good
chunk of EXP for completing the 6 stages. It can be entered twice a day for free. Monster
park also rewards a special currency that can be used to purchase potions to get more
exp or that will boost your attack speed. These are awesome to use when training. On
Sundays the monster boxes contain exp cards! Maple tour is similar to monster park but instead
of exp you’ll get mesos. The mesos can be claimed 1 week after starting maple tour. I usually make
300 million mesos a week from this alone. You also get coins from this piece of content that can be
used to purchase 200 power elixirs every day. So no need to get potions anymore once
you’ve done this for a couple of days! You can also buy potions that heal 75% of your HP
in the market in showa. This is how you get there. Ursus is a boss that rewards both exp and mesos.
But most maplers beat him up just for the mesos. Ursus should not be tackled by yourself unless
you’re already well established and funded. There will be a pop up in the game
when the rewards for this boss are doubled. That is the time when
everyone goes to fight this boss. The times are on the screen right now. Make
sure to be there early so you can join parties! More ways to get stronger are to for example
complete the level 50 quest the eye opener to unlock your inner abilities. Just like
potential, these stats are random and can rank up. Keep rerolling to get to legendary
first and then try to get some good lines. Which lines are different per class. Some go
for buff duration others go for attack speed. Make sure to check first with other mains which
lines your class needs! Getting a good first line can take quite a while though. I still haven't
gotten one after already one year of playing. Once you reach level 140 you will unlock
your hyper stats. Make sure to add points in those every now and then as well.
I usually put 10 levels in critical rate if I dont have max critical rate yet.
The other points I put either in damage, normal monster damage or critical damage if I
have max critical rate. At level 200 I recommend putting 4 to 6 levels in Arcane power as well to
make the journey into the arcane river easier. And another system is the familiar system. These
are those cards that monsters drop. Double click to use them, then complete the roro quest at the
left side of the screen to unlock this system. If you’re just starting out try your luck at
getting some familiars that either heal you, increase the drop rate of mesos or
items or ones that give ignore defense. This system has pretty extensive. You can level
up familiars and fuse them as well. But again if you’re just starting out just try to get a
good stat and that will take you a long way. By the way, maplestory is more fun when you’re
playing together! So make sure to join a guild. Guilds also provide bonus stats which will
help speed up your leveling slightly as well! Finally I also want to touch on crafting. In
ardentmill you can craft potions that will increase your exp or meso drop rate so you can
find more meso quickly. You can craft shields and other useful items. I just want to make
you aware that it is there. It is in no way necessary to do when you’re just starting out. But
it does become more important at a higher level. Another big piece of your progression are your
arcane river dailies and fifth job nodestones. Every area in the arcane river has a daily quest
that can be completed to get arcane symbols. Those symbols are needed to deal enough
damage to the arcane river monsters and bosses. They cost mesos to upgrade
and increase your stats as well. Nodestones are those things right here that
provide either buffs to your existing skills, fifth job skills, they can give new
skills and special purple nodes. These nodes are placed in your
fifth job matrix. Your V matrix. Every 5 levels you will unlock one more
slot so you can put down one more node. You will also get matrix points every time
you level up to enhance a slot up to level 5. There is an NPC in vanishing Journey and Chu Chu
that you can use to rank up individual nodes. After talking to these NPCs right click a
node and either enhance or disassemble it. This way you can grow your fifth job skills
and lower level skills through boost nodes to get even more powerful. Boost nodes can
contain any attacking skill. So make sure to only boost the ones that have 3
skills that you actually use and need. You can only enhance nodes that have the same
first skill as the node you’re trying to enhance. Events
Pfew the final part of this video! I also want to talk
about events and what to look out for! In MapleStory events unlock at level 101. There
are always events active and their rewards are generally the same. A lot of items that are
needed to upgrade your nodes or symbols. And usually there are special event rings which
are must gets! Keep an eye out for any event guide videos where I or other maplestory content
creators explain which items are best to get and how to participate! I made an event guide video
that should appear as a card right about now. Also on sundays there always are special
events called sunny sundays. Those can give special effects like more exp from runes,
to higher success rates on starforcing. Usually maplers don’t starforce unless there
is a starforce discount event active or a 5 10 15 event where every 5th 10th and 15th
star has a 100 percent chance to work! I hope that this extremely long video has
helped some returning maplers! I am super happy to see so many people returning
and I do hope some of you stick around! And that was all for today! As always many thanks
to our members for making these videos possible! Thanks to Niels de Coninck,
