there are a lot of campers out there as you've noticed and you may be deciding on what you want to do you may be somewhat experienced or you may be wanting to upgrade to something else whatever your situation is I just want to share with you some examples of things that I've done with campers I wanted to share with you the lessons that I've learned with old crappy campers and mistakes that I have made there are all sorts of manufacturers out there and they don't necessarily tell you everything about how they build it what they put into it I'm going to share with you the top reasons why converting a cargo trailer into a camper is the best way to go basically you could see all these campers around and you could see that there are so many manufacturers out there that when you look at a list of them you can't even go through and see them all because there are so many here they're listed over 2,000 of them most of these manufacturers have gone out of business and that's what usually happens is that they come into business and they go out of business so this footage right here is of a manufacturer I believe they're still in business but I'm not sure they could be just changing their name around I you never know but you could just see the fast pace and the how quickly they put these campers together and they look really new and nice on the outside but the quality of building materials is just so low it's may all made of wood that soaks up water and it's if it springs a leak then it's gonna warp everything people will tell you if you buy a new camper that you'll often find leaks in there in the ceiling and and the sides so you can tell that the reasons why this happens is is because just the way it's designed the square design where all the walls and the ceilings meet are usually places where a leak spring open and those leaks spring open no matter how hard you try to seal those leaks up over time the Sun hits it and the weather hits it you'll have to refresh those seals every two years at least but if you forget to do that or put it off you start spring and you could tell these workers aren't really putting much care into what they're doing if you were to build one yourself you wouldn't work this fast you put a little more care in what you were doing and make it a little more quality this is in contrast to what they used to make out there with those Airstream campers I just want to show you some footage of the Airstream campers so you know what I'm talking about these Airstream campers were designed in a way to keep it strong and to keep the water out so there are no seams really just overlapping sheets of metal just the way is designed helps to keep it hard and strong look just like an egg shell and it keeps the water out and it's minimal effort to keep it all sealed on the roof and all around the sides you can tell just by looking at it that it's gonna be better quality they stopped making air streams a long time ago but then they started making them again but the problem is they're very very expensive so you won't be able to get these at a low price there are other manufacturers that have made similar designs and you could tell that they just look rock-hard there may be a little more weight to it but if you want it to be really light like the other manufacturers then you're gonna have to compromise some quality and some and the durability of the trailer so this comes to my point of why I'm really into the idea of converting a cargo trailer into a camper is because a cargo trailer is already better quality a cargo trailer is going to naturally have less seams if you're looking for them and my trailer has just basically one sheet of metal on top it does have a couple vents but you just want a minimal amount of holes and joints on top of your roof because your roof is going to be a huge factor in leaks so just the durability of your trailer of all the joints and edges are going to be a lot better in a cargo trailer you're going to be dealing with leaks all over the place and repairs on other campers even new ones what they get are going to have issues if it has a square design to it and seams all over the place you could buy a better quality cargo trailer for for about five thousand you can get a used one for probably around 2,000 to 3,000 or something like that if he wants you can customize it it's already a lower price for a better quality trailer and you can see how the manufacturers here you could just see that it doesn't take much for them to put a little more care into what they're doing and make a little better quality a lot better quality actually and also just the design of it it's more replicates what the air streams are like you'll be able to just know that by looking at it and and knowing what goes into it they have to be stronger and they have to be better quality just because of the nature of what they're used for they're just used for a cargo type of utility type of thing also another point is that they're versatile and when you customize what you want you could have a big family or your if you're a single person you can customize what you want it doesn't really matter or even if you get married and you start having a family you're you could customize your trailer and it grows with you and you could have beds that fold up you could have a table that folds up and when they're not using it as a camper you could use it for hauling cargo and you could still use it so it's not sitting there on your driveway forever if you don't use it for camping all the time and in case of emergency you could always use your cargo trailer as some somewhere to stay or helping somebody else so there are a lot of campers out there but just remember if you buy a cheap camper you know that you're gonna have to repair something else soon it's just a constant cycle of repairing things converting a cargo into the camper you can control the amount of maintenance that you want to put into it so the the maintenance could be as simple as you want you're not dependent on the manufacturer that designed it for you they made all the decisions for you basically but if you do this it's a clean slate and you can just custom you wanna you can make it really low maintenance and/or you can get more complex with it if you want it's uh it's really up to you these cargo trailers come in all sorts of shapes and sizes so no matter what whatever your taste is you can get a gooseneck you can get a really long one you get a short one you can convert any of these into a camper a lot cheaper and a lot better quality than what you could find out there a big part of this is controlling the temperature with insulation and you can't keep it cold or you can't keep it hot without good insulation so this is a major part in that in customizing your trailer is you could concern you could control how much installation that you want in there and control the quality of it and these other manufacturers they just slap in a little bit of insulation in there and I guarantee you this camper is not going to stay warm or it's not going to stay cold it's going to have a very hard time controlling that temperature which is very hard to maintain for your use of power and efficiency so it's it's going to be really difficult so you've got to be able to control that temperature somehow and that's all based off of the insulation that's a major plus in converting a cargo trailer into a camper you can control how much insulation you have and also the quality of it if you're looking at a four season trailer you're gonna be spending a lot more money and so if you have a cargo trailer that you're converting over you can make a four season cargo camper trailer for a lot less on my camper I used some waterproof it's the insulation board with the foil on each side so it has some reflective value and also the r-value of the phone and it's waterproof so even if water gets in there it's not going to soak it up like a sponge which that fiberglass insulation tends to do and they have all sorts of problems so I put some that in there and I also put some other insulation that bubble-wrap type of oil stuff in there so I have a couple of ways of insulating it just so I have that thing it's laid it like crazy the durability of the joints and edges and the walls in the are a lot better on a cargo trailer automatically just because the way it's been built and designed and the off-road ability of your cargo trailer is going to be a lot better because you could choose a double axle if it's a smaller trailer or whatever you could have a single axle but you can you can get a better quality double axle and you could actually customize that as well and Jack it up a little bit more so the off-road ability is a lot better but right off the assembly line it's going to be a lot better with off-road ability the resale value is going to hold a lot longer with the cargo trailer converted into a camper because if somebody doesn't want the camper part of it that you can still use the the cargo trailer part of it and so it's gonna hold a lot more value a lot longer in fact when I was looking for a cargo trailer I couldn't find one for less than two thousand dollars that just wasn't really beat up and so I found this one for nine hundred dollars it was a it's an interesting one because it was just a it was a camper frame and someone put a step band back on it they cut off the front part of it and just put the back part on the camper frame so this is an interesting one that this makes this one of a kind and absolutely awesome I totally it so the resale value is just gonna be overall better waterproofing is going to be a big factor I already mentioned water leaks and stuff like that but you can make the materials out of metal eliminate the wood floors or put treated floors on the bottom and and on the ceilings in the walls so if you have more control over all of the waterproofing so overall these are the reasons why I feel like a cargo converted into the campers gonna be the best bet for you for your money not everybody has money to get an Airstream but you can get a cargo trailer that has similar design features and you can make it what you want you can start out simple and as you get more money you can start putting in additions and upgrading and and stuff like that good luck with all your decisions and hopefully this helps you I have more videos on my website I talk all about saving money and doing things on a
