Haha, don't like the sneering tone of 'even the Turtles'. Two of the Turtles joined the Mothers of Invention Mark II; some of the heaviest psychedelia around.

Really interesting video. It was surprising not to see The Doors mentioned anywhere. Break On Through (1967) was clearly proto-metal imo, and the band had a lot of influence on the scene at the time.
