[Music] hi I'm Dana Fulton I'm Ann esselstyn and today we're making a recipe that is not from a cookbook it's something we actually have made numerous times when we're doing um a presentation about how to plant-based on a budget basically with with the esselsen foundation if you haven't heard of the esselson foundation we'll fly in here it is a non-profit we run to get the message of plant-based nutrition out to anybody so what we've done on this our eating plant-based on a budget is made something called bedazzled hummus I'm hoping to have like I feel like Tinkerbell with her Disney like bedazzled hummus um because what we do is we take hummus and we put it in a bowl this is just our favorite hummus we've made that recipe I think with you before so we'll fly that recipe in um so you have about I don't know is this cup and a half or so of hummus and you're gonna bedazzle it and bedazzling it means adding stuff everything whatever you have in your fridge you know you have these two little two little peppers sweet peppers left over in the bag chop them up and will you do so this is one little clove of garlic chop it up this is a quarter of a pepper we're going to chop it up and some scallions or green onions so we're just going to chop these up and if you don't want to use it all in your bedazzylation of your hummus how would you use as a noun bedazzle doesn't noun the bedazzlement no the bedazzle The Dazzle the I'm having a problem I think it's nice as an adjective and do you define an adjective it modifies a noun whereas an adverb that modifies a verb sixth grade English teacher okay so here is our hummus and we're going to bedazzle it with things as we go along here so I'm going to add in I had about three scallions and I'm just gonna scoot them in there's one orange pepper and I'm gonna put in some I love the crunch of celery oh so you're gonna add a stalk of celery together and I'm gonna chop up some baby carrots I usually have like a bag of baby carrots open for like the last six weeks or so and there's you know just a little bit of like a surrender of ten carrots in the corner and no need to recycle that not recycle compost them chop them up raise them off maybe then chop them up and in they go so we've got some scallions some chain orange pepper we need some red pepper carrots and eats with her eyes even to the endangerment of the texture of things sorry we don't move this I'm gonna get the red pepper chopped up into little wee bits do that you got on the floor and the bowl got a lot of celery in there but it's going to give it a lovely perfect nice and small well it is small but a few of the pieces a few other pieces just didn't break up um so bedazzlement does not mean to overwhelm it means to like add an augment too so don't I mean you could we could just make this be a salad with a hummus dressing if we keep adding things but and I'm going to add to a little bit of garlic or cut it all no no no Jane a little bit of garlic it's for another recipe so we're going to add this stir it all up if you wanted to please add things like zitar or um uh oregano or maybe cumin or whatever whatever I think you could put spices parsley or cilantro parsley I've got lettuce here because you could actually take your greens and just chop your greens up and put them you know let's try to do that put I'm going to chop up a few greens and put them in and then we're going to spread this onto to toast we're going to spread this onto a rice cake and spread this or you could put this wherever you'd like this is actually I have never done I've never chopped the greens up but this is a great way to get your Greens in these are spring Greens in they go um all right so there's some toast here wait you want some toast sure awesome here we're gonna or you know what this would be really good in chain have a lovely um stuff it in a wrap you know Pita half of a pita so you have this little pita pocket a little green on top wait there you go and what do you want to try it on toast I don't like that I would like to try it on a finger toast finger does it have some flavor and you know what I think it might need yes I think it might also help be good to have some lemon in here that would be great here I also wanted to oh Sriracha so Sriracha oh we need let's get some Sriracha he loves sriracha um a lot hey just a little bit let me say what I like about this hummus okay that's a lot that works that works I really like the crunch of the celery I add a little bit of soft sauce you gotta let's start it um it's perfect now it's perfect Wade says it needs hot sauce and he said a little bit and he held his toast there until I added a lot bit now the other thing you could add is vinegar of course of course here you go I think a finger a finger toast is really good because you can I mean it's like an instant lunch or an instant sandwich so I'm sorry that's really good and it's really crunchy it's this let's just it's a celery it's almost all the things we've added so we're gonna continue to eat this well let us know what I say I wait I say it's the cell because I added the celery that was my part well done well done so I we would love to know what you how you bedazzle your hummus all right definitely is bedazzled yeah so just hummus plus whatever veggies you want all right thanks so much bye [Music]
