Becoming Catholic

hey thanks for joining me if you or someone you love is interested in looking at the catholic church maybe becoming catholic this video is for you first of all if you're thinking about becoming catholic and you're not catholic i want to say god bless you that's an exciting thing so many people misunderstand the catholic church think the catholic church is simply this historical phenomenon or this association of people who love the poor or this group of people who like to build institutions or some people think the catholic church is a kind of nefarious even evil organization as catholics we believe the church is christ's living body it's the sacrament of himself it's the place from which god gives his life it's the place to which he gathers all of humanity and all of creation there's this visible side of the church bishops and priests and deacons and baptized people institutions sacraments but there's this invisible side of the church christ himself god the father son and holy spirit and this mysterious river of love which we call god's grace now that's the church maybe that's a lot for you to take right now but let me give you a few words of encouragement if you're thinking about entering the church i would encourage you to look into rcia that stands for the right of christian initiation for adults it's called the inquiry phase that's where a person enters into this community of like-minded seekers and can ask questions what is the church what does the church believe who is jesus who is god what is god's plan for my life it's a very non-judgmental easy access point to ask those questions as the rca progress moves forward it gets deeper and deeper there's opportunities to really look at your life and say is this what god is calling me to do it's beautiful steps of stepping forward and saying i think this is for me or maybe this is not for me at this particular time in my life the beautiful thing about rcia is it really is a community of people there's great support there's great opportunities to grow intellectually but also and maybe more importantly spiritually to learn of god's love for us and how we're called to respond if you or someone you love is thinking about becoming a catholic i would encourage you to take a look at rcia and i think you'll find an amazing path towards the great gifts of the catholic church [Music]
