did you have fun on the train yeah we went two times yeah it's the opening day for the Burnaby central Railway with miniature trains powered by steam diesel or electric locomotives now celebrating its 30th season and Burnaby firefighters showed up to support opening day we're helping the government fire trucks for the kids to see and we've got them helping load some passengers onto the trains for us train enthusiasts can get up close and personal with the different types of trains here including the garden size trains kids of all ages are taking a ride through the over six acre property we saw lots of stuff from a movie and we saw a lake Pond and we saw Snow White the ones that look like steam locomotives are actual steam locomotives that is not fake Doug Bach is a locomotive engineer and he explains how the trains are powered the fire is in here and the fire boils the water the heat and hot gases from the fire pass up through tubes running through the boiler so that heats the water up to boiling temperature one of our scene trains that we have running today was built in 1939 in England so it's a model of a real stream chain so it's been around for a while it's definitely blast from the past these miniature trains they do take a lot of Maintenance so we have a shop and with a crew that comes down frequently and works on the cars on the locomotives another crew will work on the track but the payoff is the smiles on all the kids that we Haul sometimes smoke comes out if you want to check out the different local motives the railway is open until Thanksgiving long weekend in Burnaby Angela Bauer City news
