As we welcome you
back to the set. Now, we've added a
couple of sluggers. I know a lot of managers
who would like to write up this lineup card right
now, the great Barry bonds, Ken Griffey Junior
has joined us. And guys, first of all,
thank you for joining us and just our condolences. Barry, I know it's
been a tough week and we appreciate
seeing you guys here. Barry, I know our condolences. We know it's been a tough
week and appreciate you guys. And in respect to that, just the
importance of this game tonight for Rickwood field
and the Negro leagues and bringing light to the
great players that played here. Can you take us into your
thoughts there, if you would. I believe it's just great for
the game of baseball, period. You know, it was a time
that occurred in our history and you don't erase
history no matter what. It was just a time. And I'm just very glad. And I think all
of us up here are very glad and appreciative
that we're all coming together. The way it should
have been years ago. But it's OK. You know, as an African-American
myself, we don't hold a grudge. We just want to be relevant
and today and integrating everything with their numbers. With what's happening today. Now I feel like we've
all are now Major League Baseball players
together, and that's truly how I feel right now. Ken Griffey jr. We were
walking around here yesterday and the three of us
got really emotional about all the
legends that played here that paved the way for us. What does this mean for
you coming back here. It's important. I mean, it's a huge step
in the right direction, being able to, you know,
play on some of the Fields that our people played on. When you look at it, you go
to Yankee stadium, babe Ruth, you go to Boston, you
know, you got to win. Now we get to see, you know,
some of our greats who played there and get some
of their history. For the two of you. Two of my boys right here. When I first got here and I
started seeing the boss with I used to ride the
field and everything. I got goosebumps because I
feel like our generation play in the best of the
best at the time. What caught you guys attention
once you guys got here. Luckily, when I first
got here, I just wanted to say thank you because
it's just a part of history, you know. Thank you for paving the
way and going through struggles to give
me the opportunity to doing what I'm doing. I mean, that's how I felt
when I first got here. I looked at the field and the
only thing I could say was. Thank you for
putting on a uniform. Thank you for
grinding every day. Thank you for going
through discrimination. Thank you for fighting for us. And that's the only
thing I can say was thank you Yeah I don't even
know if there's a way to follow that up, but we had a
conversation earlier and we were talking
about the players that you would want to
play with that played against the Negro leagues. Now playing against both of you. You two were probably
two of the most confident players I ever played against. Tell me right now on
the spot, what would you do against satchel paige? Me? Yeah. You Gon lost your mind. Jeter's gone. Simple gone. Read about it on ESPN, Fox News. Whatever else you
want to talk about. Got to believe in yourself. I don't believe in me. You got to believe in me. That's right. I'm a drag, Derek. You said I'm a drag button. I'm going to take all
those people off the field. Racing to first down. Man you, brother,
you say confident Yeah double click on that. There we go. Hey, griff, we talked. And then Barry, of all the great
players that have played here, is there one player that you
would love to have as a teammate Ooh it's called Josh Gibson. Josh Gibson. OK how about you, buddy. Well, obviously, I can't
say one name because I get emotional over that one. So I'm going to
say, cool Papa bell, because I want to see
if I can beat the lights to turn off before he does. Amy, I got to tell you,
man, I got to me Mr Willie during all-star game. And I think it was
an incredible man. And I know the relationship
between the two of you. There's anything
that the baseball world you want to share with
that you talk to him about. I can't hear you. Sorry, I don't. I can't hear him. Yeah, Papi was just
saying, you got a chance to meet the great
Willie and just didn't know if you
wanted to share anything with the world about him. That's what he was
asking Yeah you know, poppy, I can share a lot
of things, but there it goes. You can't control it right now. I know. For me, it's just too
soon Yeah So forgive me to the public and the people. It's just too soon because
it's an out of control feeling. Like right now I'm
talking about things. I'm happy, I'm smiling. But then you want to go back
to when I was five years old, Willie. And I'm sitting here. I can't control that. Go back to satchel. Go back to satchel. Go back to satchel. Hey, you know what. Go back to the home. I'll come back. I'll come back a Fox again. Go back to the home. Run I'm gone, gone, gone. Hey, first of all,
Derek sat there and he said, did
you see these fence. The fence used to
be way out there. I said, what's wrong with that. For 78? He said, I couldn't do that. I said, well, that's why you
get on base and let me do it. That's right. See, that was going
to be my question. We got we got 2,900 home
runs here, basically. But Barry's got it doesn't
matter how long fences. You know, Barry, there's
an old story here that. And I think I know what
your answer is going to be. Can you jump in. There's an old story that
when Babe Ruth played here, he hit one over the right
field wall some 700ft, and he went into a cold car. They didn't get it
till it hit Atlanta. So I have a feeling
you feel like you could get that cold car 700 away. There's the wall. There's the wall. Come on, man Yeah I don't know. I don't know if you
could see the cold car from the railroad tracks, but
they said he hit it over there. Yeah, that's all right. He can hit it over there. I just want to go
over the fence. You don't get extra
bases out there. If they go, say, you get eight
bases and then I'll go for that. You want to get four. I'm just going over
that yellow line. I led the league in home
runs in the first row. One year. 13 hey, so, yeah,
that'll work Yeah you don't get extra bases now. Now, griff, you've been. You've been a little quiet here. You've been humble with
your home run prowess. What would you do
here at this field. I'd have a lot of
fun because there's a whole lot of room to run to. You know, you hit
one in the gap. You can. You can get a triple
Yeah you know, and my dad told me you
can't lead the league in doubles if you hit triples. I may lead the
league in triples. There you go.
Good call. Good call. Well, there's no way
we'll ever know, but. Well, we know what
Barry's doing. That's already been discussed. 28, 89. The number of home
runs on this set. Just all around greatness
and especially Barry, we appreciate you coming on and
just sharing some time with us. Ken Griffey, junior,
you guys are amazing. Thanks for being a part
of this big night tonight. Thank you, fellas.
Appreciate it. Thanks for making me laugh. There we go. All right. So great to have those
guys with us here tonight.
