all right thank you guys for joining me today on instinctive addiction archery got a really good one here for you today this is something special what we do here uh for our customers that order boats okay when you order a custom bow from us no matter which model it is whatever the deal may be what we do is even if you don't buy your errors from us we figure out what your bow really likes and we bare shaft in that bowl that's right we bare chef tune it and guys it's really important because and and i get a lot of people say hey you know i don't buy into all of the bear shaft tuning things it's just too complicated and the fletcher's are going to fly it anyway well true to some extent a feather will correct flight within the first 10 feet or so of the aero launch yes it will but you never know how much they're correcting it okay in other words if an arrow is not hitting its intended target especially a live animal perfectly straight it loses energy guys and when it comes to a hunting situation maybe not on targets but on hunting you need to have that arrow hitting as straight as it possibly can okay where it does not lose anything and has all the kinetic energy that it possibly can have okay so what i'm going to do here i'm going to show you guys what we typically do okay this particular bow that i have in my hand here is a little custom order bow that we just got finished for mr jerry jones this is a 46-28 inch of 58 inch carbon vapor ss model okay now his draw length is 26 inches that's right 26 inches and he asked us to um tune the bow with some good hunting errors okay so what we've done from experience we have chosen the axis traditional because it's an all-around great hunting arrow okay and we have decided to go with the stainless 80 grain outserts and then bear shaft tune these particular shafts to this bow at his draw length so that when he gets his new bow he doesn't have to figure that out he doesn't have erratic error flight unless it's something he's causing he doesn't have to order arrows and not know exactly how long to cut him and how much point weight to run and what's going to tune out of his bow okay not anybody else's bow but his bow all right so here's what we do guys because i want to show you on a typical day before we ship a bow we get out here and bare shaft tune them and we figure out what does that bow like what is the best arrow option for that boat okay so here's what we do we take the shaft and generally this is my method now guys there's lots of different ways that people do these if a fella says well i've got a 26 inch draw okay you got a 26 inch draw uh i figure let's give it say two and a half inches okay two and a half inches uh that means at full draw you're going to have a minimum of two and a half inches of carbon shaft sticking out past your riser then you're outside and then your point more than you would ever need so in other words unless your gap shoot you don't need a ton of arrow sticking off the front of your riser when you're shooting you need to get it within that two to three inch mark and tune it to your boat okay that's just normal so what i did i cut this particular arrow to start with i cut this arrow 28 and a half inches okay put the 80 grain stainless outsert in it and 150 grain tip and it was almost perfect but i'm just ocd when it comes to air flight and i wanted perfection at his 26 inch draw so i cut it to 28 and a quarter that's right 28 and a quarter which gives him two and a quarter inches of uh shaft plus the outsert in the tip running this 150 grain the reason that i wanted to tune this shaft with 150 grain tip is because that's what the most readily available weight for broadheads is you can get 150s anywhere pretty much the magnus uh oh gosh a variety of them so you know it was just an easy deal to tune for a 150. so i'm going to shoot it now and i've got a little mark here it is 26 inches and when i draw i can see that mark when it gets here to the riser and i'm going to shoot at a 26 which i'm a 27 and a half inch draw so i'm going to draw the bow 26 inches launch this arrow and show you guys how a bear shaft is supposed to be in a bow and then when you fletch it you know it's going to fly perfect guys and always on bare shaft tuning shoot your bow vertical don't torque the grip don't overhook the string because it causes human error and it influences the fly to the arrow which these bows are really forgiving anyway but shoot it vertically just to do your bare shaft tune because if you have it canted and let's say if your arrow was weak flying tail left it would appear to be knocked high the way it would come off the bow and that wouldn't be accurate so shoot it vertically that way if your shaft is weak and it goes in your target tail left you know you have a weak shaft if it's tail right you know it's too stiff and you need to add more point weight okay so axis 500 traditional cut 28 and a quarter inches 80 grain outsearch 150 grain tip a bow that would be drawing if it's 46 at 28 this bow is drawing about 42 and a half 43 pounds at that uh draw length and there again these double carbon limbs usually require a lot stiffer arrow than a lot of bows do we have to step up in spine in other words a 600 will tune weak probably out of that even at that draw length unless it has really light point weight because we've tested it we're running 636 37 pound bows um but anything that's in the 40s generally a 500 will tune perfectly okay so here we go guys i'm going to shoot this thing vertical here we go there it is there it is i'm gonna walk you down here and show you this thing flawless flight this thing flew like a laser which is what you want and i was just gonna show you this to let you guys know that when you buy a bow from us when you order a custom bow we take the time to make sure that that arrow is perfect whether you buy from us or whether you order them from anywhere at least we can tell you okay this is what you need to run out of your bow what spine and what length and what point weight and you're good to go so guys check this out we'll walk down here and i'll show you show you what's up with this show you how how straight that this bear shafted arrow actually came out this is this is what you want okay there she is let me get my camera set up here there we go as you guys can see this bear shaft is perfectly perfectly vertical and perfect left to right there's there's i mean there is zero zero weak or stiff to this shaft zero it's perfect the knock height was very easy to set on this the first two shots that i made with it the knot was slightly slightly high i went down just a little bit with the knock shot it i went down just a little bit more and it started getting tail low so i went right back up right now it is set on 5 8. 5 8 knock set that aero tune is perfect out of this boat so guys those are going to show you that and let you see that's exactly what you want right there a perfect perfect arrow straight as it can be straight up and down so that's what we do here guys we always aim to please and uh make sure that our customers are taken care of the very best that we can so uh hopefully this video will help you a little bit with your rig whatever you're shooting whatever kind it is don't just trust because they seem to fly good with feathers don't just take that for granted because you could have an arrow that's flying severely weak that's it's kind of correcting itself a little bit but not hitting that target straight not like you would want it to so take the time if it means stripping your feathers off getting out there and playing with one of your shafts to make sure that it is shooting absolutely straight in that target then you know you're getting all you can get out of your setup guys so thank you and always god bless you uh we thank you for everything that you guys do in the way of support for us we love you so much and thank you for joining us on instinctive addiction archer you guys have a good one goodbye
