hi guys it's not new that bamboo laab recently released the new p1s 3D printer but what does this new model has different and how does it perform When comparing with the X1 Carbon and p1p you want to know all the details then stay [Music] tuned hi guys welcome back my name is Hui and this is the ru Raptor YouTube channel if you want to help us out you can by giving this video a like And subscribe the channel you can also help by joining our patreon page or by clicking on any of the affiliate links posted Below in the video description so after the successful release of the X1 Carbon and p1p 3D printers bamboo lab now has the p1s visually it looks like another X1 but with the same color and display of the p1p we have one here on our lab since the beginning and we have been testing it until now but before we go through the comparison and pros and cons let's check how's the new printer just like the previous printers the p1s comes nicely packed we noticed some improvements on the packing when compare with our first printers the front door and top cover which are made from temperate glass come inside a plastic bag the door is attached and assembled to the printer but inside the bag this is great in case of any reason if breaks during Transportation the shattered glass will stay inside the bag inside the printer is a cardboard box inside the box we have the display a spool tool of filament some safety guidelines a PTFE tube the power cord the spool holder and a small box inside the small box we have a spare hot end some parts for the hot end screws for the extruder the screws for the spool holder double side tape a couple of nozzle tip wipers blades screws and magnets for the scraper that you can print later on some lubricant grease and thermal grease a needle to unclog the nozzle and finally a couple of Island Keys the first thing we need to do is remove the lock screws from the printing platform there are three one next to each lead screw there's also red arrow sticker pointing to each screw you can use the Allen key that came with the printer to unscrew the these screws there are also some zip ties and cardboard pieces that we need to remove the foam underneath the printing platform is the last one to be removed and that is done after turning the printer on next is the display the display is connected at the back carefully connect the flat cable and attach the display making sure the cable does not get pinched to secure the display we need to place it in and slide it to the left and that's it and this is how the printer looks [Music] like there is still a very important component that needs to be installed at the back of the printer if the AMS unit is included the buffer needs to be installed at the back using a couple of screws if the AMS unit is not included then the spool holder needs to be installed instead and also with a couple of screws now we can connect the par cord and turn the printer on the display will turn on and display a small initial setup that we need to go through for the the first part of this setup we need to choose a few options it's also possible to configure the wi-fi at this point or later on once all the options have been entered the printer will start a few automatic calibrations from this point on the user doesn't need to do anything else the printer will calibrate [Music] itself [Music] [Music] the menus of the p1s are exactly the same as the ones from the p1p on the main you have the information about the hotend and print pad temperatures the speed and printing status at the left there are a few tabs with options on the second tab we can change the nozzle and bad temperatures change the printing speed load and unload the filament turn on and off the fan and also the internal light then we have the buttons to move the extruder move the bad up and down and the y and x axis it's also possible to home all the axess from this menu on the third tab we can set at the bambo lab account the Wi-Fi the memory card check the printer's name check the current firmware version and also update it run calibrations change the displays Auto slep timer do a factory reset and check the serial number the fourth tab allows us to check the memory card files and choose the file to print when operating with the printer it really looks like a p1p printer with some extras so if the p1s is a p1p with some extras which extras are they first and most obvious one is the enclosure the printer comes fully enclosed like the X1 Carbon the difference is that the X1 Carbon comes with metal panels and the p1s comes with plastic panels it's also equipped with the top glass and front door since a few months back the p1p started to be equipped from stock with a camera and light this camera has less resolution when compared with the X1 Carbon and the p1s comes with the same camera from the p1p and light since the p1s is fully enclosed it's equipped also with the big cooling fan next to the light and also the big fan at the back for the cabinet and a small fan for the controller board the cabinet filter is also included and because of the top glass cover the cable that goes to the print head comes protected inside a cable chain the cable itself is a new heavy duty one the print surface on this new b1s is different from the print surface that came with our p1p but the manufacturer told us that the future p1p printers will be shipped with this new print surface this new print surface also has texture but is thicker this means that it will not warp as easy as the old model the addision on this new one seems better as well the rest is exactly the same as the p1p the extruder gears and hotend are the same as the p1p or in other words not hardened we noticed some revision changes on some of the boards and cables inside the print hat when compared with our older p1p and X1 Carbon models this means that they have been continuously improving not only the slicer software but the firmware and also the hardware it's a core XY 3D printer with a direct drive setup the xais is equipped with lightweight carbon rods the display is the same as the one from the p1p it's small but very userfriendly it's also compatible with the AMS unit and with each unit can print up to four different colors it's possible to order the p1s with or without the AMS unit it's also possible to order the Hub and with it connect up to four AMS units and print up to 16 different colors for the guys that have a p1p it's possible to upgrade it to a p1s to do that bamboo lab has all the parts to convert the p1p printer to a p1s this model same as the p1p is not equipped with a lither sensor and cannot be upgraded with one so this part of the filament calibration needs to be done by the user the print volume is the same as the X1 Carbon and p1p models which is 256x 256x 256 mm okay all done the printer is now ready for its first print now we can place the filament on the spool holder and feed the filament on the menu there's a feeding option to load and Al load the filament the first one was the Ben sheet that was already sliced and stored on the memory card and since it was sliced by bambo lab we printed using pla from bambo Lab this Beni was printed very fast it only took 18 minutes to print next we printed a few more models that we sliced using bamboo Studio slicer we used pla betg ASA and TPU filaments as for the profiles we used one of the stock profiles changed some parameters such as layer height infill percentage number of Walls and such and run them with kxl and filament PM filaments the time-lapse feature was enabled so we could capture these images directly from the printer's camera to print TPU we need to use the external spool holder as bamboo lab does not recommend to use the AMS unit with this type of filaments for pla filament is recommended to keep the front door open and or the top glass removed and since we are close to Halloween we also printed this carry skull with the rat inside we also installed an AMS unit and printed a model with four different colors if you want to know more about how to install the AMS unit you can check our video just check the link below in the video description the result is what you can see for the Beni the result is very good and if we consider that it was printed very fast it's nearly perfect this small figure of a boy and its kite was printed with a stonik filament the details were printed nicely and overall looks good we also printed several different models of birds the layers look very smooth and also has nice detail this model also has lots of detail and was printed in different sizes the smallest one is only 27 mm tall and looks as perfect as the bigger one the three birds were printed with the stock 0.4 mm nozzle the skull also turned out really cool the layers look very smooth and also has nice [Music] detail the hand which was printed with Asa filament also turned out just fine for ptg and ASA we kept the top glass cover and front door closed while printing this dog was printed with no supports and it turned out very good as well once again the walls are super smooth for the TPU vase we use the generic TPU profile without any changes although it needs some tweaks to improve it a bit more the result as is is not bad at all this totem also looks awesome the walls are smooth and the only issue we can see is on the areas where they had supports on them as for the models printed with the AMS and four different colors this is how how they turned out for this model we selected the seam position as nearest and as you can see there is no sign of the seam on the model the quality is awesome and the collar transition was very well done as we mentioned before we printed lots and lots of things this is just a small sample of what we printed regarding errors or other problems we have detected none so far the printer has been printing basically every day and we didn't have any issues with it okay now for the pros and cons and for the positive side we have the price for the guys that think that the X1 Carbon is a bit expensive the p1s might be a better choice since it's much cheaper it has less features but it's equipped with the same cabinet components such as the cool cooling fans air filter and it's fully enclosed the printer comes almost fully assembled and it's ready to print in just a few minutes the machine has a core XY mechanics and a very sturdy structure the p1s is equipped with the necessary accessories to print with filaments that require a stable cabinet environment as the previous models it can run the calibrations automatically the hardware has very good quality it's equipped with several sensors such as Leveling Sensor vibration compensation sensor filament runout sensor Etc it's also equipped with the internal camera and light the new magnetic steel print surface has a much better adion capability for pla filament we didn't use any glue or anything else to help with the adhesion it's also a bit thicker which helps to prevent the warping on the plate at the edges it has a nice and very easy toor display it's equipped with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi it's compatible with the AMS unit and with it print up to four colors if we install the Hub we can connect up to four AMS units and print up to 16 colors the bamboo Studio which in our opinion is an excellent slicer has profiles for different filament types and they work pretty well the app for the smartphone is also available it has lots and lots of information on their wiki page with maintenance instructions troubleshoot tips Etc the manufacturer keeps improving the machine with firmware and slicer software updates same as the other models this printer can print fast and still maintain a good print quality and for the negative side we have the noise the printer is is not a silent machine especially when the cooling fans are at full blast being enclosed sure helps a bit to contain some amount of noise the and extruder are not hardened which makes this model not compatible with all the filaments however it's possible to order and install the hardened components anytime it's not equipped with the liar sensor we understand that the Lether sensor is not included for the low price printers however it would be nice if they could be upgraded if we wanted to we also understand for the printer to be able to be upgraded with a lither sensor the the controller boards would have to be different and that would have an impact on the final price nevertheless the fact that we cannot upgrade the printer with a lither sensor is a negative point it does not have a good alignment pins for the magnetic surface it's not a deal breaker because the current ones work and you end up gaining the experience of placing the print surface quickly on the right spot but still the current pins are too small and would be better to have different ones to help guide the print surface better it comes with no filament perch container included and no bin to collect the filament purchase it's really necessary to print these as soon as possible otherwise we will end up with filament purchase scattered all around not all spools are compatible with the AMS some filament brands use different sizes and not all of them will fit or work well on the AMS unit the filament spool holder and filament feed located at the back of the printer is not our favorite spot it would be easier for the user if it was located at the side for example for this type of printer having the on andof switch at the back is a negative point it would be much easier for the user to have this switch at the front every time the printer stops with a warning or error there are no warning sounds from the machine we get the error on the printer screen and also on the computer and smart phone but if we are not paying attention to them we will miss the warnings and the printer will stay waiting for our input to continue or stop the process there are no handles to pick up the printer the printer's shape combined with the weight make the task of picking it up and moving it somewhat difficult it would be much easier if the printer had handles so what do you guys think about this new model feel free to leave your comments below we also have other videos about other printers from bambo lab and also tips and tricks if you haven't seen them yet check their link below in the video description and that's it you guys thanks for watching we will see you guys next time bye [Music]
