Baltimore channel opens after forced closure following bridge collapse

The Fort mchenry Federal Channel in Baltimore is back open more than two months after it was forced closed by the collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge. The army Corps of engineers announced the channel was fully restored yesterday for commercial sea transit through the port of Baltimore. The fully reopened channel now allows for two way traffic and it cancels additional safety requirements that had to be implemented because of the limited width of the channel to open it up. About 50,000 tons of bridge wreckage had to be removed from the Patapsco River.
