foreign [Music] [Music] hey guys what's up it's Sean autotopia LA today we're here with Kurt we're out in Simi Valley my buddy Frankie from P2 told me about you and you said you built this one quite a while back so this uh project we worked on back in 99 2000 and back then the rage was airbags put it on the ground and you know all of that stuff so we we did all that long ago and then now he's got you know an autocross track it's a gnarly one for sure so it's a 72 C10 it did not look like this long ago it was multiple colors different you know front end cab bed I got to assume it's not stock framework underneath then so it's got stock frame underneath it and then we put a new front end flat out engineering with C4 control arms and C5 brakes on the front and then it's got stock rails that we just recently boxed the frame rails and then adapted this rear independent in the rear of the truck right so is it performing Pretty radically different now uh yeah yeah it's it's a lot better he just went to Optima last weekend in Utah and got second place in the truck class so it's this thing moves it works quick yes let's go let's go up here and pop the hood I'm curious to see what you guys did under here so probably three years ago he wanted to take the small block out and put LSN so I had an LS3 motor that was pretty much stock and we changed a couple things put a cam in it a few other items inside there and then push the motor back as far as we could way back up yes yeah so it's way back how fast did you push it do you know do you know roughly 10 inches from stock so we pushed it back as far as we could go the only limiting factor was the gas pedal to be able to have the gas pedal still function with the stock pedals underneath there that was his requirement what kind of power does the ls make it currently makes 570 horsepower to the tires and then 500 torque that's such a perfect range especially for what you guys do the autocross stuff right really cool man what transmission runs with this so we got a six-speed Tremec 6060 and behind it yeah and we got a McLeod r at XT clutch and then you said independent rear what's it what's the gearing on that so he's got a 373 in the rear so we got jri shocks that we have JJ do from Ultimate performance so it's got coilovers all the way around and then we put that fiberglass hood on it to lighten up the front from the heavy Hood the steel hoods are 78 pounds and this one's 2022 have you ever weighed the truck do you know what it's at 3 300 pounds pretty light for a C10 isn't it it's not bad you said C5 breaks is it uh is it manual setup no so it's got power brakes it does uh yeah so it's got the C5 master cylinder booster and then we got C5 calipers and rotors front rear on this thing what are your wheel and tire sizes on here 18 by 12 front and rear on this thing and these run Nan Kings 315s front rear so it's got a square set up that you could the backspace is the same front rear so you could rotate tires yeah what what's the exhaust setup on this because it sounds the little bit I've heard of it sounds really good yeah so we got a two and a half inch uh stainless exhaust front rear all right let's go check out like always one of my favorite Parts is the interior because obviously that's where you spend the bulk of your time right I love the stuff that's just full kind of race prep the way the way it's built you know wow this is bitching wow so you've just changed the stuff that needed to be changed and everything's kind of there's a lot of still stock-ish C10 right yeah yeah so we like models pedals are still the stock location we move the gas pedal over a little bit and and then made all new sheet metal in there so you could remove the sheet metal to take the motor out or work on the transmission or whatever needs to happen and then his radio is working he's got the automator gauges and power windows in the doors so it's easy for him to drive this thing on the street and still Builder yeah roll the windows down easily and that's part of the Optima thing right is that you have to have like stereo you have to have audio right or you're going to get deducted points audio heater you know all the stuff that a normal car should come with when it's yeah stock yeah yeah I noticed he's even got even got a microphone worked in here for his Bluetooth yeah yeah so he can drag this thing around talk on the phone while he's driving no cup holders though no cup holders no this is so cool dude it's just I I I got to imagine this thing I mean if he's second in trucks he's getting down this thing moves yeah we uh with doing all the work putting the independent rear we went out to the good guys in August and I gave it to him Thursday 2 30 and I had a couple miles on it and he took it to good guys Friday the next day and was out there it was one of the fastest car trucks out there or cars for that matter really and he ended up he was he had the fastest time of the weekend in a truck out there so this thing's quick well dude we'll throw some cameras in and go okay go do a little driving it yeah and check it out sounds good don't you think all right we're gonna go for a drive you guys [Music] [Applause] dude I gotta tell you just like I can't say I've ever driven a C10 that feels like that like almost no body roll whatsoever slight input it's ready to go yeah a lot of things on the front suspension that with the quickest uh steering rack that they make on a C4 so lock to lock your one and seven eighths lots of lock turns this thing's just bitching dude I can already tell I mean the couple minutes of driving it's just [Applause] God I love how this shifts dude God it's got so much break dude I barely touched the brakes and it's just all over it the other thing uh I just noticed as I went to look at them I don't know why I missed it before there's no side view mirrors on here no no it hasn't found the side view mirror that he likes yet so he just turns his head why do you need Savvy mirrors when you're always passing people foreign by the way thanks for letting me drive it and what's what's the owner's name uh Dustin Reed Dustin thanks for letting me drive your truck dude I uh part of the fun of making the videos for me is getting to drive so many different types of builds to get it you know helps me get more and more of a sense of what I like yeah this truck is so easy to drive the clutch frameless dude I mean the shifting and everything is easy on this truck it's so it's so easy to drive I mean if there was one gripe is it driving it around the streets all the time the clutch is a little stiff that's my perfect power range that I love is a because of my driver's my skill set that's the kind of power to me that you can just rail on it it's fun you're probably one of those guys that like scared the piss out of your power yeah let's see if this thing will even do it for now that's a yes no it'll be fine I love how proper build it looks really good it looks like a driver but that thing is built 100 to perform everything about it is let's go out to Optima and try to win this class every time we go out completely
