Backpacking in the Black Hills.

all right packs on we make our way in here boy it's nice to walk on granite rocks almost slipped on Pine Cone this place is pretty cool it is it is I love the mountains [Applause] all right finishing up the trail from Mount Rushmore to the Wilderness Area I'm heading north on the Centennial Trail for 2.3 miles and then I'm turning and going back south on a horse trail that's going to take me down and Link me up with another Trail the snow's kind of picking up that's crazy can't believe it's Snowy out here these Rock spires are just beautiful this is so cool look at there was a tree growing out of that right there and then there's mush little funguses on it 2.3 miles to the next Junction I had to stop and go pee had to get my Ventus hoodie off because I was getting way too hot in that thing that thing is amazingly warm it's snowing again hasn't really stopped everything behind me is just just gorgeous back there look at that that's what I'm surrounded by like seriously that's what I'm surrounded by there is just rocks shooting straight up all over the place this is such a beautiful place to be this this is right here where the trail meets up with uh horse thief Lake number 14 we are still on Centennial Trail number 89 it looks like and that's also going to be horse thief Trail number 14 heading this way and all this snow it has been snowing like this the whole time I've been on trail I am actually surprised I haven't started seeing it stick to the ground anyways enough with this break and enough talking to this camera I am going to get moving some more this is what it looks like along my trail I got reached the top of that Hill starting to go down now I'm going to head down and find a spot for lunch I found a spot to eat lunch I am well that's where I'm at according to my map I have been hiking for 3 hours 11 minutes I have gone 52 miles my total Ascent it's 12:44 all right I pulled up the seat [Applause] but lunch is really good well all packed back up about to hop back on this Trail it is right at five o'clock so I've got well two hours that I can push and get to a camp I think I'm about to start the big up Journey here but right here where I'm at now it is pretty there's snow on the [Applause] trail well I'm not quite to the top but what we got back here is just spectacular well I'll repeat I'm still headed up but I had to stop for this one too all right I've reached the trail intersection the top of the climb now it's downhill I'm going to keep going until I find some type of spot I want to make Camp see in a little bit all right so it's been probably oh a couple hours since my last video I uh didn't make it as far as I wanted I finally came across a couple trees that are not very far off Trail but it was after dark it's cold my feet are cold hiking through that snow froze the out of them so I'm currently in bed now trying to warm them up I uh didn't really make a dinner I just had a kind bar and some snacks while I was setting up well chocolate Bar's gone it was good and it's cold in here my feet are almost warmed up the tips of my toes are still pretty chilly but it's getting there we'll see yall in the morning hey guys well finally waking up over here it's a little after 6 I it got down to 23 I stayed pretty warm not too bad he pretty soon I'm going to have to get myself out of here and start getting around get back on trail so it's morning I'm up had breakfast had some coffee um this is essentially where I camped last night I just found some trees hung my stuff up made it work and it it worked out pretty good it wasn't horrible it a pretty decent night look at that Boulder that's a nice boulder Black Elk Peak this morning so I think I'm going to get all packed up here and start heading up the hill all right Pack's back on got Camp cleaned up here we're going to backtrack a mile and go up to Harney Peak here's the end of the backtrack we're going to go on up to hary Peak you know I don't think these would be so bad if it wasn't for all the up I did prior to getting here just look out window right here that's pretty banging I made it mostly out there I think he probably r over there there's actually all the markers and stuff too oh okay I'm sry okaye are you all friendly I know you want to say hi to everyone this must have been the quarters for whoever was man in this Tower I would guess man you got so many good views out these windows though it's a great little Lookout Point it is it is great little Lookout Point that's cool over there oh yeah [Music] all right it's probably pretty Echo but I'm posted up in the room here in the lookout tower out of the wind trying to warm up cuz it got kind of chilly on my high upup I was sweaty and then that wind started blowing and it was terrible so I got in here got my Ventus on I'm warming up my uh fuel can so I can make some lunch we're going to have some bigan burrito with vejita chicken yeah right there there we go all right well I'm making my way down the views walking down are just so great it really is so great but we' seen all this on the way up I wish I have saw this little area last night what it's gorgeous here we are next to the sign I'm leaving the Wilderness Area and going into kuster State Park I by the chil [Applause] yeah the trails out here are just beautiful and it's been a good time we're making our way back to the car now so I'm thinking for tonight it's going to be cheeseburger and fries all right so the battery ran out there at the end we're back home now just finishing up the editing of this video that was my uh trip through the Black Hills Wilderness thanks for watching
