hello again guys and welcome to another video today I'm going to be showing you everything that I pack into my Osprey 11 - 45 for a three day backpacking trip it all weighs in at only 8 kilograms and that includes three days of food some of the items today I'll go into a little bit more detail and explain to you why I've chosen them as part of my key so the park I'm using is the Osprey levity 45 it weighs in at eight hundred and thirty grams very simple design but it's really comfortable because it's got the Osprey airspeed suspension system it's a framed pack so we it distributes the load really well onto your hips so you don't even know you're carrying it really all in all it's a great pack there's probably not the best scale in the world and just reasonably accurate so everything in the pack including three days of food weighs in at eight kilograms so let's crack it open and let's see what we bring for a three day backpacking trip so we'll start on the outside of the pack I have a thermo rest as II like sit bug these are my waterproof so this is a rabbit I think it's a per text shell it's not sure the exact weight but I think this weighs about 300 grams I will put a full list of items in the description below along with the weights a couple of light weight sponges is my trowel so this is a use of spades and then I have my rain kilt so this is made by ula equipment I think this only weighs in at 72 grams which is really lightweight normally I wear waterproof trousers however I think the ones I've got weigh in about 350 grams and I very very rarely have to put them on so I'll give a kill to try in the left pocket I just have a an empty coca-cola bottle that's one litre and underneath that my Sawyer micro squeeze one of those little saw your bags so moving on to the top of the pack right on top where I keep my tent the tent I use is the terra nova laser photon one I keep the poles down the side there are tent weighs 609 grams and then we've got 149 grams for the poles and the stakes I use our mixture of MSR carbon core which is these fellas they weigh about 6 grams apiece and then I also carry some of these titanium V pegs so that gives me different options depending on the ground conditions not the biggest tent in the world but it's plenty big enough for me for lightweight backpacking now I did all my know about bringing a footprint but I decided against it and instead went for a big sheet of poly crow so the footprint weighs in about 275 grams and this poly crow I can use if I need a footprint then so the [ __ ] roe is tough versatile and only weighs in at 49 grams I'll lay the rest of the stuff out on the [ __ ] Roe so you can see actually how big it is so next inside the pack we have an off spray it's a 70 liter dry sack I did try just using a rubbish bag or compactor bag as you guys in America call it but I found that it kept getting holes in it and these off spray bags are tough as anything so in the top we have our Mountain Equipment beanie so these are brilliant these are my Montaigne prison gloves these are a Pertex outer and you can squash these down to nothing now next we have some of the heaviest stuff in my pack food these are my snacks for three days in here I've got things like M&M Snickers bars granola bars and there's a bag full of peanuts and then I have a selection of summit to eat meals you've got a mixture of main courses pasta bolognese we also we also have sweet so there's rice pudding and for very little weight 125 grams it packs a lot of calories so there's three days food and that weighs in at one point six kilograms so let's see what's next in the pack now this one is the dilemma I'm not sure if I'm going with this or not so this is the Soto thermo stack cook get the pouch also doubles up as like a cozy so it helps keep your your meals or your water hot this is the cook system so you've got a 400 mil mug with a lid that doesn't come as part of it but I bring that anyway and inside that you have a smaller cup I store my stove in here so this can be separated into two mugs when you put them both together it acts a bit like a thermos flask and that has its own individual lid as well with a lip guard so you don't burn yourself when you have a Negril I do like how versatile this bit of kit is it locks in place so there's no rattling around and the entire thing weighs in at 182 grams this is the stove that I'm using now it is the Soto wind master comes in a little bag in the bag I also keep these little pot lifters so these are perfect for lifting your pots off and here's a little pot stand not sure if you can see what there's a small lip there and that comes open and then and that just clips around the top of your stove creating a very sturdy pot stand I've opted for this stove over the MSR pocket rocket I've done some research and we're using this for a few weeks now I'm really impressed with it the stove has a seal so you get a really good connection onto the gas canister it has a piezo igniter and it has a couple of other great features too it has a built in micro regulator which means that you get a constant pressure with your canister at all times and this gives the improved performance in colder weather so the distance between the bottom of the pot and the top of the stove is also reduced this means it performs brilliantly in the wind which is a big problem I had when I was using the BRS stove I find this stove performs even better than the pocket Rakhi in windy conditions so this was really the only thing that I was debating when picking my equipment for this trip I normally go with the out kit Danian mug and the sea2summit cup which is a great bit of equipment you only want to boil water I do think this offers a little bit more for not much additional weight so give it a try and see how we get on so let's see what we got next shall we you've just got a ziploc bag full of tools and bits and bobs so in here we've got torch lighter deodorant Vaseline and a map and compass in there all those bits and bobs weigh in at 370 grams ah yes this is a great bit of kit this is my decathlon Micro down Jackie of this ages now and it keeps me really warm and he only cost about 30 40 pounds I'm not sure exactly my pillow I check ology this is one of the best tennis I've spent as well a really clever little valve in it cup of s and it stays up and to release the pressure you just press and click the button push here out all right so we're getting near the bottom we have our thermo s neo where X like this is an awesome bit of kit this is the new synthetic top quilt for last 2 cos packs down really small it's called the SS trolls blanket can be fully opened or you can create a foot box by falling on this toggle now this is a game changer it's got a comfort rating of -5 Celsius it's got climber shield 200 synthetic insulation which is incredibly durable because it can be open fully can be used to wrap around you or if it's really warm you can just stick legs out whatever you want to do it's very very versatile if you want to use it more like a sleeping bag again you just put these little snaps together close the foot box and then you're back to having it as a conventional quilt the main reason that I wanted this quilt was for the synthetic insulation so when I've used down quilts on multi-day trips starts to lose its loft and when that happens it doesn't have the same insulation properties whereas synthetic insulation can even keep you warm when it's wet so that makes it perfect for the humid UK conditions so yes Dukas sussed rolls blanket that's stored in a kneel air thermal rest pump sack this is dual purpose obviously it keeps it dry compress it a little bit but it also inflates my NeoAir hand goes inside and a little hole there open your valve or if you get in this push it through a little bit of air in push it out of the bag this is so much easier than blowing into the air pad when you've been on a long hike so another really cool feature about the combination of the Neo air and the inflator bag is that you can combine them to make a seat you need to take a little bit of air out of the thermos so it's about half full and you roll it up and then you pop it inside the inflator bag need to let a bit more air out but this is really noisy on the microphone and once you have it in there a couple of breaths of air inside the firm last till it gets nice and tight in the bag seal it up with the toggle and now you have a stool which is actually quite comfortable so we're down to the last few items in the back the last thing inside the main compartment is just a few spare clothes so I've got merino wool top some thermal leggings and spare socks and pants and all that's left are these few things in the top compartment so have my life insurer titanium spoon and here I keep my battery pack put it in a ziplock bag and the power bank I go for is the raft power and I think this is 10,000 milliamp we don't want that game wet answer ziplock and also we go in here three-in-one coffees there's a cup of soup in there this is my sanitation kit so we've got some dehydrated wipes toothbrush toothpaste ibuprofen few plasters and I also keep some tenacious tape for repairs on the go mini first-aid kit so here I've got a couple of hand warmers Buster's or band-aids foil blanket duct tape just a few essentials really and the last two items have hand sanitizer make sure kills all germs with fire my food I swapped out the Swiss Army knife for an open on number 8 it's much lighter than what Swiss Army knife and this is all I need for most for most tasks around campus that seems to be it so that's it guys everything laid out all weighs in at eight kilos so that's it guys
