BACK TO VAN LIFE

back to van life there she is there you go hello  baby we're at eamon and bec   and back in 2017 we bought a van converted it  into a tiny home and set off to travel the world   we'd made it all the way to africa and then COVID  hit so we abandoned our home in a moroccan parking   lot flew back to canada bought and renovated a new  van and then landed here at our cabin in the woods   one year later and it's time to get back to van  life what has happened no oh [ __ ] that thing's   broken watch out watch out okay watch out van  life hey never at all moment and we are rusty well today's a rather exciting day  we're on the road picking up our baby   baby girl we haven't seen our baby in um like six  months to be honest i haven't even thought about   everything in six months oh Eamon! i haven't  not this van uh look casa B i'm sorry but   trinity i've thought a lot about yeah but Casa B's  kind of just you know and you get a second child i'm the second child what's that saying about me now that the weather is nice and van life season  in canada is upon us we are going to pick her   up she was tucked away for winter storage  casabili is in this gray mystery building   you're welcome your destination is on the left  thank you thank you siri we're actually the last   ones to bring our vehicle in here so we've  kind of probably the last ones to pull it   out too oh my gosh last time we were here it  was full of cars yeah now it's like empty wow long time ago i missed you the  man missed you we missed her   yeah i'm hoping she starts oh yeah now it  starts oh yeah obviously it's starting oh   yeah you guys have been probably taking her on  road trips eh yeah i've rented it out all winter   money were you down in mexico yeah  yeah that was good smart very smart there she is welcome back i forgot what this thing looked like  pretty sick it's actually really beautiful   i feel emotional my heart's really beating we  built this home i know and lee built it with us   you know yeah she caught the countertops she came  on adventures with us yeah she'd sleep right here   hey didn't you say you had like a daughter  or sister or something that watches the vlog hey carly thanks for watching the vlog okay but before i go in my car thanks  for letting me use the bathroom   mildly concerning that i beat back home   i stopped for gas she must have got lost i think i  just missed my turn cause i don't know where to go   what'd you do well yeah so i drive with a  gps in the backcountry which is probably a   really bad idea and i was like singing along  with the song blah blah so then i turned down   so i take the road but i'm basically going  back out and i do this big circle that is like   probably at least 10-15 minutes and i was like  back i always drive with a gps oh my god oh no   what has happened no turn off the water oh no it's  leaking through here oh no oh no oh no oh my gosh   eamonn just went to see if there's water in here  if we had left water in here and we've got a big   old lake look at your plumbing system thank you we  have a big issue here buddy yeah okay if this is   the problems we're having with casa b imagine  the problems we'll have with trinity oh god   things coming out ten minutes into being home if  you don't like fixing things don't get in the van   like i know you secretly kind of love this so  i'm not hurt no not day one of van life man not   minute one of van life i'm pretty sure kara and  nate have the same faucet and they did this twice   really yeah it's cracked let me see that oh  snap yeah i know where i can get another faucet   i'll just borrow it i think i might have  another an old one downstairs really   that's a better idea than stealing our outdoor  kitchen here i am always making fun of you for   being a hoarder yep it's a good thing you never  listen to me huh yeah she's a little rusty   that she'll do uh i don't know if those are  the same attachments after all that it just   won't work i'll have to stop by a hardware store  on our way on the adventure to get a new faucet   as we reopen casabee it's got me thinking about  trinity and i know a lot of you are looking for   an update so we thought we'd share something  that our friend larry just shared with us   heyman back you guys have been in there  for a year i really need to use your washroom i go out all night i'll wait we can stay inside guys what is up i found your van i'm here in  morocco with trinity we've been hanging out   i call her tea now let's take a look  at what you got let's get re-acquainted   air in the tires that's a win all the  doors are locked yeah it looks good   got a bit of rust i mean that's not bad that's  not bad all right there's a beach somewhere   calling my name i'm gonna go find it see you soon  cleaning mode back is here and ready to spiffify   this van what do we say conquer it let's go ew i  swear we cleaned the van before we dropped it off risky just gonna charge it up make  sure we got full juice those   batteries should be toughed up in  a couple hours just as i expected solar's clean this one's so dirty guys i'm pretty sure we said  after we build trinity do not paint your cupboards   white well here we are again a couple of who  chose the paint color i probably did guys   do not paint your cupboards white i haven't  even used this in six months it's disgusting   this next phase of uh van putting back together  it might be a little more difficult because   we sort of just took everything out and  fall and uh we use it in the cabin so   restocking should be interesting mugs  kettle bedding bunny don't go overboard   just going for a few days you don't want  me to put my plants back in here oh my gosh   somebody help me please but  you're allowed to bring one plant   one one choose wisely i think i'll bring  two one we have two plan holders so i just want my race sunshine i just want my research okay table check oh the van's looking so good oh   i do not know what i'm doing okay i  needed to interrupt this van cleaning   putting back together to share the most  beautiful sunset with you like are you kidding okay let's clean the toilet i don't know if you  guys have seen this if you've been watching for   a while you'll know we use a composting toilet so  this is coconut core it's like shredded coconut   so you need to rehydrate it and that's what  we actually poop into poop into poop poop day one of back to van life is done the  house is looking very cute and this one   is frilly she burning paulo santos it's typically  used for smudging and cleansing the space   um she liked to use it after she pooped  so it'll be for a mix of just really here really and we'll see you guys tomorrow good morning day two of moving while moving back  into the van is taking a lot of time the thing i   love most about van life is when you're all set  up and ready to go it's very very easy to do   a spontaneous road trip once this is done  it'll be so so worth it for a summer of   spontaneous adventures we emptied casabee  out of all of the cutlery and plates so i'm starting there this morning goes and the last major thing clothing i'm  going to start really simple and try not to   over pack or over half clothing in the van  but i also want to be available in case   spontaneity takes over and we're gone for like  two weeks you never know less is more folks   i don't know if this is normal for this time of  year these flippin caterpillars are everywhere everywhere remember those bricks from the other  day look once you add a little water it just   turns into like this nice dry material and your  poop goes in there and dries it out turns into   compost and are you feeling like you need to  get your bucket the cabin when we love it so much   but i think oh i don't miss that i think what  will be awesome is just getting out exploring the   unknown just switching it up a little bit we've  both really been craving some sort of adventure so did you put everything away proper  no i think so i gotta check okay oh this is it that's not gonna work but okay   buddy we have minimal room here and you brought  this i know like a five pound thing of pickles   sorry buddy no cold pickles that's  fancy it's too luxury onwards and the first stop to any real van life adventure   the hardware store the hardware store  we're gonna go see if we can get a faucet   it's as pretty as it gets in these tiny towns do  you love it i love it it's like a grandma's house   one of our top tips for building a van or doing  any van repairs is do not leave the parking lot   of the hardware store until that repair is done  because you just never know then you're off and   you don't have a screw oh do we need screws or  anything i didn't pack any of that i hope not oops now here's the big one oh does it  fit i should put in the same hole but okay okay all right i love the new lock   ready um oh you're just just gonna pull up  a cup okay oh [ __ ] that thing's broken what's wrong this thing's broken oh no it's thinking it's leaking a  lot oh no watch out watch out okay   watch out watch it okay okay that line  is off are you broken hello are you broken is there no water i thought the water tank filled  up pretty quick oh yeah i did leave that open   the drain thingy so you filled  it but it drained right out   yeah that's why it was flowing  out the bottom so quick so we have a faucet but no water   i think tim will let us fill up i was gonna say  you can take the person out of van life but you   can't take the van life out of the person well  six months of no van life and we are rusty good   thing we're not back in morocco with trinity  trying to sort all this out for our first trip that will be an adjustment and a half huh   what's going on here tim what the hell's  you running back you might need to put your   finger on there the whole time really okay  is the water running out the other side yep yeah i'm gonna let go and then you're gonna  get your finger on there okay go nice okay   very important job i have here so i'm just in  the corner with my finger on the trigger here   keeping sure that the water doesn't go overflowing  but it looks like from where i'm standing   the water is still out pouring from the  input on the van ayman looks like he's   under the van trying to figure it out van life  eh never a dull moment thank you tim take two nice alright we are in business to be honest like most van life trips we have  absolutely no plans but we did just hear from   a local about a really great spot to park  up so we're gonna go check that out maybe   go for a little local hike have a barbecue  we got a right over left we got a right or a   left um we are literally at a crossroads you're  going to choose left i feel like you go right right not bad i'm a sweetheart dude there's bugs everywhere  here is there any other spots got your buddy hello are we the worst van lifers  of all time no buddy we're not we might be yeah so life uh kind of sucks right now in ontario um  we are still very much locked down so we spent   the better part of the day trying to find things  to do thank you for calling j j cycle hey i was   just wondering if you have any mountain bikes  available for rent hey are you guys open no   only grocery drugstores and garden centers  can remain open ontarians are expected to   stay home and limit contact with each other  we're definitely craving an adventure and   getting out there and doing something but i think  we have to wait a few more weeks until ontario   reopens so until then we thought why  not bring casabee to our favorite place   on earth to her favorite place on earth  give her a little special pad for guests also if you guys have any suggestions on things to  do in ontario in our backyard which we would love   to explore leave them in the comments below first  things first we've got to figure out where we're   going to park the van that it gets enough sun for  solar and gives our guests some privacy so when   you come out of the cabin we've got the driveway  which would obviously be in the way plus it's not   flat or level we have slept in the van out here  before that's no good i was actually thinking   back where this quebec garage is might  be the ticket what do you think yeah   exactly the sunny spot not to mention this is also  where the porta potty is oh did you guys totally   forget we've got an outhouse that'd be perfect  yeah a little sloppy coat of paint on there   composting toilet or outhouse you  got your dressers that's pretty posh now that the quebec garage is in a new  spot we got the ultimate van life getaway   right here in our own backyard okay that was  a lot more work than i thought to be honest   moving that little tent i'm gonna back the van  in and hopefully it fits in that little spot okay well that's sort of gonna work now back when  we were looking for a place we were also exploring   the option of getting vacant land and then living  out of the van full time while we build our cabin   long story short we actually  bought an old cabin instead but what is it a portable palapa sick mate we've nearly doubled our square footage here  i know not too shabby hey what are you making   me um i was just thinking that we might as well  take camping in your own backyard to a new level   and uh enjoy a little evening out in the  van and new palapa so i'm making a spread   crackers hey i haven't served  it yet bugger we'll sit down welcome to cassidy restaurant this is  what you ordered van life's not too bad   we're pretty good at boozing it up  anyways aren't we we are boozing   just lying here thinking about how beautiful this  van is i know we didn't make it like into the   back country but yeah i was just thinking this is  like such a cool bunky space for guests which is   ultimately the goal of the cabin for us is  to have a place for people we love to come   but also it's a great spot for eamon if he's uh  being a little annoying inside i'll happily chill   in here send him to the van monkey i haven't  been bad today though i even know illinois although this is not the back to van life vlog we  were planning on making you know this is our new   version of van life until we can actually travel  and explore an adventure and get back to trinity   in morocco or you know we are planning an east  coast trip with some friends so if you guys can   guess those friends leave it in the comments we  are excited to get back to van
