hi book lovers it's Easter Monday I have a lovely hot coffee here it's freezing we've been for a walk around the lake and I just had to come back and show you some more books this time I'm going to show you some of my books for younger kids so from toddlers a lot of them are bought books some of them are not quite boy books but they're great for that younger set and what better way to start than to cover something that we just can't do at the moment and that is trouble so here I have this lovely little collection so these are you probably seen these these are from Walker books and they're these little sort of I guess Fox sets of concertina works and this one's on Australia illustrated by Charlotte Trump's by Walker books as I said and it's this glorious little concertina peek at our country with little pop-up sections along the way you can see here with Parliament House how it's got this little pop-up section here and I think there's oh that's the Sydney or Melbourne Cricket Ground apologies of course the 12 apostles look at wave rock there how beautiful uluru how divine kakadu national park of course the gun train Great Barrier Reef and they sort of concertina up and they've got two sides to them there's quite a few of these I have London as well this one illustrated by Sarah McComb enemy and love love love her illustrations you can see there's a little map on the back here beautiful cover and then again it just concertinas out into much delight look look look absolutely beautiful the other one I have is Perry Paris here and Berlin all of them are gorgeous and I really should get my act together and finish the collection because I adore them and have a good inspiration all right and the other travel books I actually have a lot a lot a lot of travel but I wanted to try to focus on ones that are for younger kids Lonely Planet absolutely love what they've done with their kids in print and gosh they've done a lot if done so many brilliant brilliant titles and we have most of them this one is pop-up New York again for little ones so no title page just I've been straight into the story there eats a low text count and then these lovely little pop-up you can see the little taxi cab there pop-up sections for kids to enjoy it's only around about eight pages so sixteen pages that eight spreads just beautiful that's New York this one is pop up Paris again really cute and I tell my films until I feel what am I saying after Triomphe gosh you can tell I've only had one coffee like here George Pompidou Center that's how I felt so pretty we've also got London of course here divine divine and this one is actually another style similar to this but this is by a different publisher so this is ligand purse on and I'm just trying to see your additions at grandpa's son and this one is done by Dominique Earhart I'll put all of the book details in the notes down the bottom and this one is a little bit different in that it actually starts off with this wonderful metro map and then it actually takes you through it's in French as well I should add it takes you through maps of the city and then has a pop-up relating to that map so here we have the eight 16th and 17th arrondissement because a lot of these a whole dissonance or suburbs join in the one spot here at the after Triomphe and then it has also details about each monument so here's our I fell and then of course we have this wonderful map with the eiffel chart popping up next one is Auto deserve the leader and again wonderful pop up here in the center of the map isn't that clever absolutely beautiful so yeah I'll put nuts in at the bottom so you can check those out right what's next next one I thought I'd show you is Ola Kylie bit of an ala kulli obsession she did this wonderful series of board books for kids there's four of them here I don't think she did anymore I'll have to check actually this one is colors we also have numbers shapes and creatures they're all cloth phones beautifully designed lovely thick spine let's have a look at creatures with her iconic leaf stem on the front so you can see here very simple baby board book just a single word on each one and then these beautiful accompanying designs patterns really just oh look at the coloring look at the texturing just beautiful and then let's have a look at colors come round cups the design lovers you're going to freak out over these absolutely gorgeous alright that's all the Kylie another deep crush of mine is blacks bollocks a French creator have a lot a lot a lot of his work this one Ballard again these are extremely simple books usually with just a word or two and just the texture and coloring of his workers superb tonight the triumph just beautifully created beautiful gonna give that lovely cloth the uncover here is one of his favorites this is his book people I'm just turn it so you can see and it just features a range of people Oh a nudist hmm an invisible man a juggler a bad shot a conductor a dictator a bricklayer a laborer just wonderful just really lovely for kids to to peruse through and and learn words and also take much delight in the illustrations of course it's quite thick it's got a lot of pages in it another one of years is called vacation and this one has a little bit of a narrative to it so it's wordless it starts look at those beautiful end papers how divine and it just moves through following this little girl look at that house suppose who clearly goes on vacation and it just follows I have devised how to cross look at that and it just follows her add a wordless beautiful does have a clock up here to show the passing of time and of course big which is pretty typical of flexible axes work it has that lovely magical realism to it as well another book that's similar to flexible X's work in the simplicity is before after published by Walker books and the creators are and Margo Ramstein and Matthias Gregory and this one is is really clever so it's basically a cause and effect so it starts out with one one thing and then moves on to another so for example the blossom becomes the flower ACORN you come to the tree we've got but yeah of course the caterpillar and the butterfly he rarely said oh yeah like this wonder cake and the decimation of the cake doesn't happen now fast coffee bean in the coffee it's just it's just such simple I mean you know an an ice cube and it melts it's just a charming walk clever beautiful illustrations there's the shoot and the ball of yarn you know this lovely lovely cause and effects before and afters that kids can really learn from and it's just an enchanting pickets and beautiful illustrations as well ok next one let's have a look at some concept books so here I've got one two three ABC colors that kind of thing so this one is by Keith Baker one two three peas it's published by little Simon which is an imprint of Simon & Schuster and this is it just follows some little peas on their Counting journey one peas searching look look look two piece fishing hook or crook three piece voting row row row four piece planting grow grow grow and towards the end of the book they just get busier and busier absolutely adorable alright there's that one my first book of colors I'm collected a lot of Ellen grease work you would definitely know his work if you were a golden books reader when you were little and this is just one of my collection I'll show you the other books I've got eventually so he's gorgeous retro stylings beautiful illustrations and just pure simplicity which is the way we love it this one is squares and other shapes with yourself out there it's by Pheidon another one of my favorite publishers and this is a series first concepts with fine artists it's such a lovely way to introduce children to fine art okay so starts out here with squares and then it says more squares square on a square on a square in a square really clever tool rectangles are standing up straight two little rectangles lying down for a nap so beautifully designed to attract children with the language and just a lovely way look it's just so beautiful lots of little circles baby circles to treat kids to these gorgeous graphics artwork abstract art works hey triangles who turned on the lights just adorable if you're an art lover Pantone Pantone books and puzzles you may have seen these what could make you happier this is Pantone colors these are published by Abrams Appleseed got the back up your joy and what I love about these is that each color is represented that then has a range of different types of yellow perfect for the budding artists to realize that yellow is not yellow yellow can be many different types of yellow so taxicab yellow line yellow pencil yellow french-fry yellow same with the oranges and the Pink's lots of gorgeous variations in hue as early pink flamingo pink grapefruit pink beautiful beautiful walk this Pantone color puzzles is great fun for little ones because what it does is it not only covers the colors these divine little look at these quirky illustrations but what it does is it takes shapes so the kids can pop out the shape at the end of this saxophone and they can match it into the shape on the other side and not only are they matching the shape but they're matching the color the hue isn't that adorable and then of course they can remove these and pop them over here as well how sweet is that I'm going to show you another spirit as well and they're nice and Hardy as well they'll hurt the longevity lovely thick card look how thick the pages here's the orange how beautiful of those illustrations red and of course all the way through the rainbow absolutely beautiful all right I don't know if you guys have a copy of this this is the one that I bought my children I bought this for LR I think maybe nearly twenty years ago dr. Seuss is ABC I grew up with this book in the classic hardcover format with the paper pages and it is so well worn this book and it's still in a chance so of course you've got a copy if you don't you simply must grab one just one of my favorite ABC books of all time another color book this is from rain to rainbows and this is published by Chronicle and I'm just trying to find the creator know it's not going to give me a creator we just put together by the team but this is just this really sweet little book with various art works that depict rain and rainbows so if you're an art lover and if you have a child who's enchanted by nature and loves beautiful croaking illustrations then this is the book for them it is regular paper so it's not for toddlers but most certainly kids of all ages can enjoy this absolutely gorgeous right another of my great loves Charlie Harper I'm collecting as many books as I can of his work this one is published by pomegranate kits and it's lilies as well it has coated thick paper that's gonna last a little bit longer here's a rainforest take my hand together we'll explore we're a fine lots of birds and beasts would never seen before featuring Charlie's gorgeous work and some text to go along with it so here is the divine quitzel bird from South America straight ahead the quitzel bird has splendid for this bright the avocado in his beak is this bird's favorite bite lovely way to explore different animals they're probably all those in here what's the title oh no it's in the rainforest so does have other creatures as well just lovely if you loved Charlie's work this is a must next one no two alike this is by Keith Baker again just one again is published by little Simon and it's just a sweet different journey for little ones very scant text and beautiful illustrations that I've got that lovely texture and high contrast which is great for little ones or just a sweet little tale about how no two are alike no two snowflakes no two tracks upon the ground no two branches and no two leaves are the same lovely concept all right I've shown this one to you in another video but I'll just quickly show again this is Luo petite Shah Baba bush which of course is a Red Riding Hood and this one is by French publisher Eliam or helium and it is written by Charles Perrault and illustrated by Clementine sawed a and have a look at this it's just absolute heaven look at the wolf here look how cool and even at the back the silhouette the way the silhouettes fall or just superb and it just takes kids through the classic tale in the most glorious way and look at that look at the tummy there the the tummy here Thea wolf can see inside absolutely superb doesn't matter if you don't speak French the text is scan funny way and you might find an English version copy I don't know I haven't looked for you might another great one I tried to show you this is another video but it kept falling on the floor and I only had one hand mani Saltzburg does some beautiful books he's highly super creative and what I love about him is he always thinks outside the square this I got four kids book review way back in the day gosh I've had this probably for nearly ten years it's called beautiful oops and the blurb says a spill a smear or smudge a tear and this one is published by workman publishing love what they do to this just the finest independent publishers around and it's also says when you think you have made a mistake think of it as an opportunity to make something beautiful so it takes that that lovely Japanese theory about things not having to be perfect ah so so clever so the book starts with oops oops a torn piece of paper and the paper is actually torn but we can make the best of it we can make it into the snapping mouth of a crocodile can't we of course we can it is just the beginning the text says every spill has lots I think this slips up from memory yeah and lots of possibilities it cannot cry over spilt milk or spilled paint of course it's just an exploration of joy little ones and and relishing in mistakes bent paper oops it's actually bent it's something to celebrate penguin bake a little drop of paint swatch watch let's your imagination run wild is this a great concept even for you just at home with little ones just to create a bunch of mistakes and make them into something beautiful think of mr. squiggle just a splotch just to squiggle and creating something beautiful out of it love this book still love it and it's still unique and special even all this time later if you're into super super quirky books an addicting go to you this one is published by actually it's for our market was published by gecko press Australia New Zealand market and this is yum-yum snap the book shut to keep the wolf inside and it's just you know it's super quirky it's a little bit creepy that again kids love creepy stuff hello I'm the big bad wolf I am putting on my underpants that's it I am putting on my t-shirt I am putting on my socks and I'm not going to reveal the ending but of course you know you'll have the kids running screaming by the end of the book so it's just a little bit of fun a little bit of quirk another quickie one is mustache up this one was written by Kimberly Ainsworth and illustrated by Daniel rude Roo de and it's by Simon & Schuster kids and this is just adorable as well so peek inside there's a peek inside four sheets of press out mustaches match the attached the stashes to the faces in the book or use them to play dress-ups so if we have a little look inside the pocket I haven't explored these for quite a while oh yeah there's little mussed pop-out mustaches that you can use as you go through the book it's just adorable and it's got mustache up mustache down which stache covers up a frame and the kids can actually pop the mustaches onto the faces and create different looks here again we'll start straight mustache curly this tush is for someone burly just really good fun there's a little pirate super cute beautiful design and lots of interactivity for them once another ABC book this is amazing alphabet feel and fit shapes have fun with the amazing alphabet bold pitches to touch and enjoy this one is by any Simpson and it's published by we you know I never bring my reading glasses do I think it's make-believe ideas this is just adorable all right so lots of text just so the kids can feel this be for butterfly they can actually you know it's sticking up from the page and I can feel it here we have a cat and the donut and think this see and I think this pops up maybe it doesn't actually yeah no sorry it's just for touching this for touching it's what I haven't explored this for so long I've had them for a decade I would I would think elephant and fork you know how kids love to look in the in the mirror I have some books still from of my kids have a little bit they could peek into their own into the mirror at the end of the book so lots of lovely textures and beautiful design really gorgeous lovely smooth round mousy ears and his little nose is also textured they're sweet as pie another quirky one Oh glasses by Hannah Elliot illustrated by Daniel Daniel rude again kids Simon & Schuster glasses to go this is similar to the mustache book in that we open up this little pocket here and inside is a variety of glasses that kids can take out and pop out and then use through the book because little heart glasses they're little circles and then as we move through the fork you can see that there's a variety of different people so here we have this pilot which glasses go on a pilots face of course the Aviators I would think which glasses are for a rock and rock star yes a lots of fun interactivity there this Creator is absolutely beautiful I love love love these illustrations it's written by Karina Fletcher and the Australia is Natalie Marshall up down this brilliant little book is all about location pull the tabs and have fun as you learn and this one is another simon & schuster oh it's so pretty really beautiful so here we can pull out up down and across on this side and then we can also pull it out this way and here it says so cool below beside and above so this little creature here's little seal he's below and now he's beside and now he's above such a simple concept I don't really like this because it's sturdy you find that little lift the flap and pull out books they can get really ruined quite quickly but this is nice and sturdy with lovely big sheets that you can pull out and again here is a fish outside through and inside and again look at these gorgeous jellyfish in front in between and behind just lovely lovely lovely stuff adorable alright another favorite creator this is Paul Furby and this is his alphabet book it's a board book as well and this one is Hardy Grant Egmont and gosh these are just so you know it's one of those books again that you could just tear up pages and put them on the wall how beautiful beautiful they would look as a frieze around a nursery so a for awesome B for bounce C for catch gorgeous retro graphic design style beautiful texturing and coloring really superbly done love love love he's done quite a few books that's his ABC book it would don't know quick okay just two sets to go this one it these are all biographical style books and I know that you would have seen these around and you probably have some of them at there's endless endless types this is the cozy classics you might have seen if you're into crafts and all sweet little felt dollies and things then you must look this up have a look at cat rabbits books - she does beautiful books so this is from my cozy classics this one is about is Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and it's by Jack and Holman when and I love love love love this concept it is simply one word and it takes you through the concept for an entire opus by Jane Austen sisters just the subtlety of it is divine mean sick it's absolutely beautiful and there's a few of these so do look those up if you love the classics and want to engage your child with the classics in some way and then there's also these ones which I must have a lot of there's more oh just superb I know of love you love love love these I love Nina CrossFit's illustrations and these are written by Xenia alkis okay yet we've got there by their Chronicle I believe don't give me if I'm wrong Oh apologies friends us link and children's books apologies this one is Virginia Woolf we have Jane Austen we have Frida Kahlo and we have Coco Chanel let's have a little peek inside beautiful endpapers gorgeous clothbound cover with some lovely foiling and also it consists a bit of a bit of embossing the square around Coco's head there and they have a lovely amount of text it's not too overwhelming so kids of many ages can enjoy it let's see here so it's like this little biographical account and then these divinely inspiring illustrations look how beautiful it's just a joy just to work through and look at just just take in all of this superb illustrative work look really gorgeous and of course who can have too many books on Coco Chanel no one I say so look those up yeah Frances linking books there's also of course these ones which I'm sure you'd have seen these are Little Miss Bronte Little Master Shakespeare the Little Miss Austen Little Master bomb The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Little Master Dickens aren't they adorable we've got a little a little up master Stoker Dracula another little master Shakespeare a Midsummer Night's Dream let's have a look at a Christmas carol they are illustrated by all this variety yeah there's a variety on no apologies I think they are all the same creator yeah they are I'm sorry the illustrator is Alison Oliver and the publisher is baby lit gibbs smith baby lit series most of them are written by jennifer adams yeah a colors primer just so you could just you could just paper your house and health in these so A Christmas Carol have a little look inside black hat bah humbug silver chains old Marley was as dead as a doornail gold stars ghost of Christmas past again as a lovely way to introduce kids to the classics without them even knowing what's happening we love to do that to the dirt introduce them to glorious things and almost there gogo G is for go-go this is a 60s alphabet by Greg pop rock e and the publisher is again cube Smith this is a board book and illustrations are truly superb there is such a hoot look look how gorgeous so is the earth f is for fins on that 1960s a car look how beautiful HS for hair G's for gogo just superb if you love Gillis station and retro illustration this is for you doing alright and in the last set I think that's it the last set you may have seen this as well these are by Christopher Francis Francis Kelly and art by pesky moe these are Abrams Appleseed love what they do for little kids they are a series of block books the first one I think was alpha block from memory here and then they went on to do I think city block next from memory and then or maybe counter counter block and of course Dino block which I've already showed you so just to have a little look inside super thick look how fat the spine is that's probably about eight signals seven six seven centimeters beautifully produced has sort of been expensive to produce that I know it's done well a B so basically this is why it's so thick let's look at all of these pages see such a tactile book for little ones and enchanting book for little ones sweet as pie illustrations and lovely and Hardy lovely thick card beautiful okay that was a bit of a mishmash wasn't it yeah I hope you found some treasures for your little puppets in your life and I
