It's interesting how he says Rand had a "heroic view of man." I would say that she stood for a selfish and fundamentally weak approach to life.
True strength lies in kindness, understanding, self-sacrifice and the cooperation that these virtues bring to society.
A good idea to take from Dawkins: he says he is a passionate Darwinian when it comes to the explanation for how life came to be on earth (it's an undeniable truth), but a passionate Anti-Darwinian when it comes to the question of how we should live our lives and make our society. Evolution and the study of the natural world shows us exactly how we should not behave if we wish to reduce suffering in the world.
