Pritchard how you doing mr. Bridger he's found hi here's one more time real quick listen closely he's found he said my best axe heads are in the house and guess where we're going in that house and check them out here we go alright y'all remember episode 131 I showed you just a little quick preview of some awesome artifacts in Native American artifacts and mr. pressure has agreed to show us some of the even better artifacts that he's got so let's go check it out right now we'll go through some of the ones in the garage again at a later date but these are some of mr. pritchards favorite axe heads and banner stones and we got one more cabinet that's gonna have some even cooler stuff in it so stick around we got a cavity here full of artifacts we're going to talk about and we'll look at the first one right here check this one out mr. pressure can you tell us little bit about this one that's got a little sentimental value there - yeah I'm sure alright let's look at Chickamauga and here we got a nice one here nice polish two rings she's rare for our area around here and that's from trollin County this is from chauhan North Carolina and what do you call it again it's a raised rude that raised red Jack's a raised Ridge ax writ read here and the ridge over there ah gah Shawnee goes all the way around which is a distinctive type I'll actually see in the Piedmont and the western part of North Carolina and Virginia so you think you might trade you this maybe it down this way out it could have been maybe he's a pretty one right here down this is got some mom that one there's a double bid attacks which are double Bennet actions are not common - they're kind of rare put this area anywhere anywhere okay it's made of granite and it was I found out on White Marsh Road in the city of suffering no farm right here in Suffolk about May these are some beautiful beautiful assets this one here is a big boy here that's another dough for the docks the Indians would beat up one of the one part of the blades been writing all the damage on it from use and everything and I see that yeah that one there's also from the city of something if this thing could only talk could you imagine what they could tell all these right here like four and five thousand years ago hey now what kind is this one here that's a group that's just a full group doctors you know this man of quartzite which is like a real damn stone and it came from separately this is quote site white more fruit it's right here suffered you know weight more shrewd places that there is from the western part what the kind of the central part of Suffolk my swamp table waters of some of the creeks we stranger to the Chowan River that's a beautiful okay let's get some Martha I guess I've got some dips marks on it where it's been in the plowed field heyday you just apply with is that was just mean another boat build in then and I guess finishing off large animals whether it be crippled up a bear or a deer or elk or whatever so the kind of big ones like that are kind of like status symbols more than thing else okay how long would it take you to make some my dad take them days fun days to make something like that it's pretty sharp but the sharpness on the edge on it well yeah there's got a narrow blade on it what you don't see that very often around here needed you carve out wood with this like to make a commitment something they can burn making the dugout canoe they could burn and didn't take these actions and knocking and break up the charcoal to get it and then burn it some more - they got to what they wanted awesome they made a boat and everything it lasted for a long time right mate I might add juniper or Cypress all right we got another grouping of axe heads here yes first one here well we got Virginia Beach it's a three-quarter groove axe out of granite it's been reassuring a number of times and that's why the blade the axe is not as long as some of the others so it should it should actually the blade should be out here somewhere right and they sharpen sharpen Herbert back in there wearing it out by research you know using it and then resharpen it got some indecision you look at SRI sharpened it struck on the bevel so that tells me the blade was longer than that one at one time and now it's more it's getting to be stubby that's being reef shark and it will get another one here though that would be the granite axe come from and maybe 75 feet from where the other one came from you say you found a lot I mean in different areas that are a lot in certain areas right same for scene farms and all that one there is from Pastor Ted County down below Lisbon City on the on the field on the now what's what kind of stone is this training that's craning okay they they use granite most of timer just depends what they got in the area I guess most of the actions we got I made a compact sandstone which is most commonly called green stone that's a three quarter groove axe this made of quartzite it's really a nice axe it's highly thought it took a lot of effort to make that axe Beco that stone is so hard and is polished and everything and that came off the star farm which is up on the path above city of suffered well the town part the downtown part on the star farm which is now of subdivision with houses it's just harder the granite yes it's harder than the granite it's more consistent take some long long to make one out of this they randomly got some hard some hard particles in it but it's also got some soft particles in it so it's easier to make an axe out of granted entity another quartzite gotcha and these here they look really slick and smooth to right here I'm looking at they come off a hill along a branch of swamp that drains into the headwaters of the Somerton Creek which is a salt here in the city of Suffolk and they come off a hilltop cloud up at the same time and both of these didn't work but this one and this one right here they look real similar actually they look very similar where they're deep 3/4 blue boxes which we don't some of these these much they come from the plows the diminish discs in the field otherwise they wouldn't had known that order well they used to when they farmed around here peanuts was a big time crop here and some people raised tobacco too and they plow once they get the crop out they was they would go in and plow it for the winter turned everything under so the land was intensely you know cultivated so a lot of things got broken in and damaged through the years if you didn't find them that's a beautiful Creek alright let's check out a few more up on the top shelf alright we've got another shelf full of axe heads let's check them out and rich is gonna explain each one up to us all right what about doesn't miss efficient that's an axe I found on white white roads here in Suffolk along a diesel swamping as you those if you flip it over back to the other side you see where there's a corner that's been glued back on well right here ya see it okay the bottom plow they found it for peanuts in the bottom plow hitting that corner and knocked it off and brought it up on the surface and you see there's a flower scrape on the cup near near the blade and everything right there yet that that the plow left and it had rained and on the field and I went in there before they distant and I found that little piece on the surface and I asked the landowner and be all right if I dug around for the so the rest of it cuz I was sure was a piece of axe and he didn't think so but he says go ahead just fill the hole in and I went out there and I dug for about 15 minutes down to the plow zone and then I found the rest of the ash that's a good story there he actually saw a piece of the puzzle and they went dug it out and found the rest of the puzzles well I knew it was a fresh break because they had some grains that were laying loose yeah that's pretty good and had a real heavy rain but and you could tell the way it doesn't have the patination on it like the rest of the other thing they say you knew it was a fresh break on it yeah just and that one little piece and knew the rest of this was down there some way that's pretty cool story there well this right here no that's right here all right that's the three Concordia cruise action here and it's made of argillite which does not hold a Polish it can be smooth everything but through the ears and everything it gets patinated and it gets course it doesn't it's not shiny or anything but it still yeah I can feel its course right here if there was smooth acts right nice no way you caught a 3/4 that's a 3/4 why do you call 3/4 because if you groove then go around if you look at the top side ah ok I see it now ok there's no groove on the top side I see it yeah no grooves right there it just comes in around here but no groove on the top what they did they would have to act like that and then to tighten it they could drive a wedge on that flat side in the in the handle and everything if it got loose and everything I got you that's it I didn't notice that yeah we got another one here is this 3/4 again right I learned some right 3/4 that's kind of hard because the groove is so narrow and everything for the size of the action that axis from Virginia Beach which is now it's got buildings on it now it's with Seoul is right next to Shore Drive out there at an area called Lynn Haven right there by the Chesapeake Bay about these things have found everywhere yes I dug that up they had dug a little sand pit down in the swamp on the hill in the dizzle swamp there and I noticed some some fryer crack rocks and stuff and couldn't found a couple broken points and most of the little hump or the island I guess you called it in the swamp and then dug away that used for field to fix the road the logging road and I got the shovel and I dug around in the bank and after about 15 minutes there I heard it went clink and everything and I found that ax just from looking at type of rocks in the area you need this was probably it was about maybe a foot and a half two feet from the edges of the wall of the pit and it almost got dug up and put in the room wow that's amazing this is a big boys real tall there's nice tall this is a highly highly polished axe I mean all over and it's really in good shape and it's longer there's a swamp on desert road on the farm I used to live on this came from a farm you live doing action Wow how about that I didn't find it was the man that was raised on that farm he had let me oh that's nice that's pretty nice of him that's a pretty one there innit me back in the fifties hey beautiful all right that one there's some White Marsh Road and farm I got a number of things from I see you got some markers on some of them here I did a friend of mine found that actually and I you let me have it so yeah sure is it you might have the year on there yeah I think it does but I got some badass that's beautiful this was really polished with this one's got some good polish or I can see it Shannon that axe was a long long time ago impassable oh there's the city with the coast guard base is now on farm and the guy it's farmed that had to own that farm and he collected stuff and his daddy had that farm back in the 1850s and anyway he had a collection of stuff and that's one of the pieces that was hidden his collection that's from that there is it which is all under concrete and buildings now on the Coast Guard base all right I got some of my hand here that's not an accident what do we got here it's a bone spearhead but you're rare his chickens teeth and I've got nine of them that's one of them the rest of them have been broken put back together and it's that one there was unbroken this is made from a bone it's a deer bone or elk bone or bare bone we don't know which right and then they just carve it into like a spear and usually put this one end of a hand or well they they cut it off and then they ground it down and to make a point there was Andy and in for spear and there was ten of them found together and I have nine of them so I don't know I didn't find it but that was found back in the 50s the late fifties that's beautiful you don't see these are pretty rare here rare I've only seen a couple of others there and they were found in Tennessee but this is some show one County wow that's Bay ten miles north of Edenton along the Chowan River pretty cool all right in the next video part two mr. pressure is going to tell us about banner stones some Indian pipes and some bows
