I'm restoring this poor little guy today He originates from the USSR and I believe he's from forties or the beginning of fifties He used to have a soft body, but now it's gone The paint layer is chipping off and the whole face requires reinforcement as it is falling into pieces It is also damaged with rot heavily, so I'll definitely need a fungicide here first I'll prepare the glue hide glue I'm adding the fungicide to stop the rotting I'm making several concentrations for gradual reinforcement making the water bath for the glue it works only when applied while warm I'm using the 6% glue concentration first to soak well into the head I'm repeating this many times till the composition material gains some strength I"m using alcohol to help the glue penetrate even further I'm reinforcing the crack with paper I'm heating sand bags for about half an hour and I"ll prepare tissue paper pieces I'm gluing the paper onto the face covering all the areas where the paint is peeling off and I'm pressing the paper with the hot sand bag to make the paint stick to place now I'll assemble the head I'm filling the gaps with paper shreds I've had to make the new back of the head as nothing has left of it the front of the breast plate is gone too now I'll prepare the composition material to fill the gaps sawdust I'm filling the gaps gradually, layer by layer it is stone hard once dry! definitely needs some sanding that's better time to remove the protection paper looks as if I'm peeling his skin off.. now I can finally wash off the dirt he looks much prettier when cleaned! now I'll make gesso.. I need some pigments for coloring it chalk I'm mixing it with hide glue the shade looks fine.. it's getting much lighter after drying some more sanding.. time to paint! I'm trying to make the exact shade of his skin perfect match! I'm covering the highly damaged areas only trying to save all the original painting untouched so much better! sealing the paint poking the holes for attaching the head to the body I need the pattern for the body I'll use antique linen fabric to make the body this one will do! this sewing machine belonged to my grandma I'll need the soles for the legs I'm filling the limbs with sawdust ..and the hands - with hosehair, to be a bit softer I'm filling the body with the horsehair too it should be nice and plump time to assemble the parts Hello, little boy! How pretty you are! I'll use antique sewing patterns to make clothing for the boy this is the sewing book from fifties I'll need the measurements to make the patterns who knew the draftmanship is needed to restore dolls! I'll make panties and an undershirt for him let's have a look what I can use here.. this fabric will work great for warm pants! and this one will do for the underware I'm using antique fabrics to keep it authentic this one will do! I've found out this is a skier boy so he'll need a sweater and a hat.. and some socks and mittens to keep him warm! so I'm going to knit all this for him this blue yarn used to be my great grandma's knitted skirt I've spent many hours making these tiny socks! Let's dress, my boy! Oh, isn't he sweet? He still has no shoes so I'll make them fully dressed now! but a skier needs skies I've pressed the wet veneer between wooden blocks and let dry I'll need a pattern here as well some more sanding.. well, looks like the restoration is finished now I've made all that was planned to Thanks for watching!
